The 27 Best Breweries in Denver | Eater Denver

"Never mind the T-shirts that promise “the best beer you will ever drink in a 7-11 parking lot”: This Golden retreat’s actual claims to fame far outstrip that modest boast, what with some 15 GABF medals to show for its ten years in operation (it also took gold for its Trump Hands Session IPA at last year’s World Beer Cup). Besides, the styles it brews whisk its fans far beyond its suburban strip-mall environs: Think Mexican lager, Italian pilsner, English robust porter, and Belgian blonde in a single flight — not to mention a rosemary-sourdough saison that’s a must-try when on tap." - Eater Staff

Google
Service was OK. Parking did not be a problem when I was there but as you can see, it was pretty empty. A great place to stop and get out of traffic. The bears were cold. I also had a seltzer which came out cold. Was pretty cold outside, however and they had one of the doors open so even wearing a jacket I kept getting shivers and a chill. There is an outside seating area that look like it be pretty cool if it was nicer out with a fire. They don’t serve food, so there was a food truck outside. But the bartenders seemed friendly enough. The place is pretty clean.

Google
A nice brewery with a great selection of beers—I tried a couple, and they were excellent. There’s also a food truck right outside, adding to the overall experience. Great spot to hang out!

Trypp Adams

Google
Easy parking, great service, I just didn't love the beer they had on tap when I visited. Food truck.

Google
Great brewery with incredible beer! We sat outside with our dog, and it was a perfect spot to relax. Tried the pale ale, IPA, and the saison and every single one was delicious, but the saison especially blew me away. I can’t stop thinking about it. Can’t wait to come back!

Tyler Brooks

Google
Really friendly and knowledgeable staff! The beer was great, each style I had was on point and I only wish I could have had more. I'm only visiting Colorado but places like this are the reason the beer scene here is the best!

Amanda Hunter

Google
Best beer in CO. Been traveling to visit this brewery for many years. Always impress with new beers. Great crew super friendly and always great food truck food.

Google
We stopped by after hiking a near by trail. The brewery was fairly busy place for early Saturday afternoon. We had difficulty finding a parking spot. Beer tasted very good, well balanced and flavorful. I tried Solid Gold and Single Hop Saaz and my husband had ESB. All of the tasted very good. We got a nachos from the food truck outside. Food tasted ok but we felt it was over priced. I would come here again for beer.

Google
Staff was friendly and the location is convenient off of highway 93. The facility looks clean and has plenty of space both at the bar and for table seating, plus lots of windows letting light in. They have a variety of beers available, though we weren't too thrilled with the flavor of the few that we tried. I was also a bit surprised they had no flight available on the menu.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Great beer and lots of indoor and outdoor seating! Order at the bar. It's not specifically on the menu, but they do flights if you'd like. Very casual and can be kid friendly, too. Food option is only the Mexican food truck in the parking lot. We didn't try it, but other peoples' food looked good.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in on a Monday night while on vacation. Filled with locals. They had 5 local vendors selling jewelry, sourdough bread and other fun stuff. There was a Balkan Food truck in the parking lot. Parking is limited. Lots of seating. We did a 4 beer sampler. They have a good selection of brewed in house beers.

Yelp
Fantastic brewery located in Golden, CO. It is located on an assuming shopping plaza near a 7-11 and a highway. Make sure you stop by because their beer is delicious! I tried their Mexican Lager and their Blonde Ale and they were both knockouts. Both were crisp, light, and refreshing. Also, their rotating food trucks are always a hit. I went on a weekday afternoon and everyone was super welcoming and the bartenders were very nice. The vibe is laid back and you can definitely hang there for a while. Check them out!

Yelp
Loved this brewery! Excellent beer selection, food truck was available if you want some food and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating!

Yelp
In my opinion, there were no bad beers here. We were strictly planning to pop in but ended up extending our stay. The staff was amazing to boot. Highly recommend stopping in during your Golden visit.
google avatar

Isaac A.

Yelp
The service was great and they allow you to bring in food from outside. We sat indoors after a long hike and the environment was friendly. I feel their drinks were on the hoppier side and I'm not a big IPA person. I got a flight of 4 drinks and enjoyed the blonde the most. They were larger flight pours. I had a good experience, they just didn't have my typical beers available this visit. I'd like to try some hefewiesen or standard wheat beer by them sometime

Yelp
I enjoy heading to Cannonball Creek Brewing after a round of disc golf with friends. These brewers know their craft! Beer lovers will likely be happy with any choice from their diverse offerings. Since I tend enjoy and prefer Pilsners I'll usually order the Dad Squad (German Pilsner) or the Italian Pilsner if available. The Featherweight Pale Ale, which is a frequent GABF winner, is also a go to. In addition to the great beer, their knowledgeable and friendly staff makes CCBC one of my top favorites in the Denver/Golden/Lakewood area. A special shout out goes to my favorite Beertender, Casey! Her good cheer and warm presence is the perfect pairing with a cold pint of Dad Squad. 4.7 stars for the beer 5.3 stars for the people

Yelp
Cannonball Creek is a nice little brewery on the outskirts of Golden. Conveniently located at the end of Washington Ave and Highway 93, there's plenty of parking in the back of the 7/11 parking lot. Occasionally, there are food trucks in the parking lot. They have a great selection of beers, which change with some frequency. I tried the Belgian Blonde ale, which I really enjoyed. The bartender was very nice and got us some samples before deciding on what to order. There's lots of seating inside at the bar and hightop tables, and I believe that there is some outdoor seating as well. When I was there, there was live music inside that was fun, and it drew a nice crowd, too. If you're looking for a good brewery in the Golden area, definitely check Cannonball Creek out!

Yelp
Avery and alley (hopefully spelled correctly) advised I miss my flight to la and it's the greatest decision I've made in my life

Yelp
Came here on the way home after hanging out in Downtown Golden! I drive by this brewery all the time and have always been curious. Totally worth the visit, especially because I'm an IPA girlie, and they have SO many IPAs. Loved the Project Alpha 67. Reap the Whirlwind was decent. Definitely coming back, next time with my two huskies when the weather is nicer outside on the patio! And to get food from whatever food truck is there.
google avatar

Gina K.

Yelp
Cannonball Creek is located in a strip mall area right off the highway. Very convenient and has a shared parking lot so it was easy to find a spot. Part of the lot was converted to outdoor seating with picnic tables, great for they nice, warm Colorado days. They also have a patio in the front with more shade. They don't serve food, just delicious beer! They did have a Mexican food truck when I visited which had some of the best queso I have had in a long time. I got the Mexican lager and my husband a barrel aged beef both were perfect! The Mexican lager was exactly as you would expect - an easy drink, refreshing and light. The barrel aged beer was bold, strong on the bourbon flavor but not overly heavy.
google avatar

Alisa J.

Yelp
Nice brewery with very spacious seating and outdoor seating and lots of parking they had a very cool rosemary sourdough beer. They also always have a food truck out front. Right off the road and a cool spot to check out.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
What a great spot for an ice cold coors beer. It was a wonderful day watching the tubers go by and enjoying the great beer and food.
google avatar

Franklin G.

Yelp
Best brewery in Colorado hands down. There's a reason every brewer and publican worth their salt drinks there. Great humans too, perfect place for a few pints!!

Taylor B.

Yelp
This wasn't a bad place at all. The beer was alright. But the smell of cleaning products was just overwhelming for me. It's super busy all the time and Not bad a place to stop by for a quick beer!
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
Beers weren't bad but service was lacking. My cousin requested a nonalcoholic option and was shunned for it. Plenty of space inside and out with a food truck on Friday afternoon.
google avatar

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
Woah! Small beer menu but amazing selection and it's all delicious! I am a big fan. The inside is nice and cozy and even full, it doesn't feel too loud!
google avatar

STEVE B.

Yelp
Awesome bar crew and a great location vibe. Loved the Down By Law Italian style lager and my buddy loved the 7 Years IPA. Great comfort food from the Mac N Noodle food truck. Kick-ass Wi-Fi / great visit. :)

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite breweries in all of Denver! They always have 2-3 gluten reduced beers. I don't know why more breweries do this. All they need to do is add clarity ferm to a couple of their beers (it's an enzyme but that takes out most of the gluten). Call to arms is one of the only other breweries I know of that does this. The staff here is always super friendly and knowledgeable. Great place to go after a hike at north table. Do a sunset hike over there and come here after! It's very family friendly and always has a food truck. All of those their beers are delicious. They've won a bunch of awards!
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Excellent Service from Nikki. I hope Management buys her a beer! She perfectly remembered my flight list, anticipated my kneed for knapkins with Hunje Smoked Wings! She also had great advice on beers! Nikki deserves a raise!!
google avatar

Kara H.

Yelp
Great beers and great atmosphere! They have food trucks and post the schedule on their website if you're hungry. The rosemary saison was super flavorful- if you're a saison lover you will enjoy it. The featherweight won awards at great American beer festival and is super drinkable as well. Highly highly recommend and will be back for sure.
google avatar

Whitney L.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere and vibe of this place! The bartenders were great too. Im not a fan of IPAs so i got a flight of the other beers but didnt really like them. My husband is an ipa person and liked all of his though. The pizza food truck was there and we didnt think it was that good. Not bad, but not something id spend money on again.

Yelp
Really a nice little brew house located in a corner spot of this shopping center. Nice indoor and great outdoor seating patio. They have taken over the parking lot to expand outdoor seating. Nice line up of beers to choose from. Their Solid Gold & Malk were my 2 favorite beers. Social distancing is strictly enforced. Face mask are to be worn all times other than when at your table drinking. Staff wears face mask and gloves all the time. Cleaning tables in between customers also:
google avatar

Liz J.

Yelp
Really great beer and atmosphere. The patio is dog friendly, they don't want doggos inside (presumably, even if you're ordering, but we try to be considerate and haven't tried bringing doggo with to order the beer). They also have plenty of water bowls for the dogs. Few things to know: They have food trucks, and the calendar is on their website. They have really great beers, but nothing else for non beer drinkers. They also often have young families here (think babies and young kiddos, weird to me, but hey y'all deserve a beer, too) The crowd is usually older, not a bad thing, I have never felt weird about being younger here. Lots of seating, clean establishment, but on a busier day you may be sharing a table. No big deal.
google avatar

JoAnn H.

Yelp
Not a large menu of beers but they seem to be decent. Hubby had the Mindbender IPA. I tried the Brickhouse Porter. Tasty. They have a good food truck outside. Indoor and outdoor seating and they are careful about compliance with Covid rules. We will return I'm sure.
google avatar

Tom C.

Yelp
Good service, tasty beer... Also a cool location - can see the mountains from the brewery!!

Kami K.

Yelp
I never do reviews but my partner and I got two flights (total of 8), and all of them tasted like sweat/body odor/ cheesy, except for the porter. I had to read up on what makes beer taste like that because they were really hard to drink. Would not recommend
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
Came here after a hike the other weekend. I tried the Mexican lager and loved it so much I tried nothing else after. The space is really fun, and soaking up the sun, the bartenders are friendly, and the food truck outside was fantastic! I've been trying to get a group of friends to come back with me because it was such a great day at the brewery last time!
google avatar

D W.

Yelp
Still love the beer and dog friendly enlarged patio but only 5 tables outside. Four of the tables seat six but they mostly go to waste with only 2 to a table while I was there. Suggest they get 4 seat tables and more of them - there is room - so more can be seated, or require or at least suggest a minimum of 3 to a table. Drinking beer has become far too complicated eh? On The Hook food truck was there serving their awesome fish n chips, real Alaskan cod and delicious fries. Tons of people showed up getting to go orders. So good, great batter, not greasy! Friendly service, our server was really hustling, but they still found time to bring a dog water bowl for my furball friend.
google avatar

Sabine M.

Yelp
Great beers! Several GABF winners. This is a must visit Brewery. I am digging the Mean Mug Porter. Great sunny deck. Seems like they always have a food truck.

Sean D.

Yelp
Visiting from San Diego and found some of the best beers in Denver here. Don't pass up a chance to stop by and try some for yourself!
google avatar

Deya Z.

Yelp
We stopped by on our way back to town from Black Hawk and were pleasantly surprised. The beers are 3.5-4 stars alone, and ambiance gets another star or 2. The patio was decent with a view of table mountain or the foothills (and freeway). The inside was just a roomy. Lots of IPAs to chose from but our fave was Trump Hands.
google avatar

Erika K.

Yelp
Stumbled on this brewery while killing time in Golden. What a fun find! I loved the beer selection, outdoor seating space, and general vibe surrounding this spot. I'm hoping to move to the Denver area in the next year, and can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Keegan H.

Yelp
The pale ale is the best. Not super hoppy but enough flavor where it isn't more of a pilsner (although the pilsner was great too). Dog friendly and staff is super cordial. Will be back!
google avatar

Hector B.

Yelp
Disclosure: We showed up about 45 min before closing, not on purpose but website said 10pm, not it was actually 9pm closing. That might have added to the experience! The guy at the door was rude/ weird. We did have a party of 8 and only 6 were allowed per table. I get it. Covid isn't cool too businesses! The guy said we couldn't be seated, EVEN in separate tables! We would "be allowed outside" but it's freezing and they didn't have heaters!!! WTF?! Another guy stepped in and we were seated inside. That was the worst way to start a first visit! Basically, we don't need your business! Really?! We came here in support of local businesses! We tried a few beers but that initial BS just wasn't overcome. It made their beers not worthy.
google avatar

Tiffany N.

Yelp
Affordable, huge space and no frills, these are a few things I love about Cannonball! It's been on my must check out list for awhile and after working a shift in Golden, found that a trip was in order. Maybe it's the proximity to School of Mines or the bluegrass music but this place totally brought me back to living in WV. The people there just seemed more down to earth than people who visit breweries in downtown Denver and that was very refreshing. Most tasters go for $2 and got two IPA varieties since I'm all about the hops. The Mindbender and Project Alpha IPAs wee absolutely delightful and left me longing for more. I will definitely come back on a warmer day to enjoy the patio, food trucks and board games. This place is a keeper!
google avatar

Jen D.

Yelp
I want to like this place because the beer is good but I had the worst service experience I've ever had. The server not only was rude to me but sort of yelled at me when she was in the wrong. Really left a bad taste in my mouth and I have not been back.

Jeff C.

Yelp
The best beer in the state, but bar tenders were to busy drinking to provide good service. The girl was really nice when it was time to pay though.
google avatar

Ellen K.

Yelp
Grabbed a glass of beer & pizza after a hike on North Table Mountain Trail. There is a great outdoor seating area with community tables that are dog-friendly. A great environment to chill, relax and recharge with friends!
google avatar

Robin B.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong, this is a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy a pint or two but the staff is underwhelming. This was my first time to CCBC and the gal pulling the taps asked me what I wanted. I told her I'd like to try the Mindbender and she did bring me a taster after checking on someone else. It was ok but not what I was in the mood for and asked her if I could try the Featherweight... she told me that if I didn't like the Mindbender that I wouldn't like the Featherweight. What? At least let me decide for myself. Frustrated, I ordered a Pompette, a dry hopped Saison which I found completely adequate and a bit fruity. A bit later, I went ahead and ordered a Featherweight and it was fantastic! The brewery is large with lots of tables, games to play and a decent size patio I'd like to try out when the warmer weather arrives.

Brian B.

Yelp
Best beer in town. The mindbender ipa is amazing staff is very friendly, family friendly and dog friendly.
google avatar

Carolyn P.

Yelp
In a town known for Brewery-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named, Cannonball Creek trumps the monster fermenting competition down the road! I love coming here on weekends. Yes, it's busy but the clientele and staff are awesome! There are always food trucks on weekends, and oftentimes during the week too. Check out their FB page to see who is coming for dinner! As far as their beer, the Rosemary Sourdough Saison is NOT to be missed! Does it sound weird? Yep. Does it taste awesome? You bet! It's light, refreshing, and leaves you with a head tilt (like a dog who just heard his squeaky toy) asking "what is that delicious flavor?!" Get a pint of the rosemary and you won't be disappointed. The rest of the lineup is just as good but less unique. Heck, it's Golden...just give 'em all a try!
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
When looking online for local breweries to visit during our trip to the Denver area, I have to be honest in saying we 100% chose this brewery because I saw they had a beer called 'Trump Hands' and the graphic art they chose to commemorate the beer was hilarious! When we arrived the seating at the bar was full so we sat at a community table until space opened up at the bar. The beer was good and we stayed quite a while enjoying the atmosphere and good service. I forgot to grab a 'Trump Hands' shirt on my way out but did get a sticker which I slipped in the case of my phone and it provides fun/funny conversation when I show friends. We will definitely return when in the Denver area again.
google avatar

Renee W.

Yelp
Met a friend here for happy hour and great conversation. I was impressed with the beers on tap and enjoyed the lager - crisp and refreshing. Plenty of seating inside and out + we were there for open mic night which was good for entertainment. The bartenders are friendly and it doesn't take long to get a glass of sudsy goodness!
google avatar

Troy S.

Yelp
Great spot. Friends of mine live in the neighborhood across the street and have become regulars. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and are extremely welcoming. You feel as though you are at home. The beer is the star, each of them show the care and craft of the in house brewing process. They have a different food truck in the parking lot every day of the week, so there is never a shortage of options on the food front. Overall, this is one of the best breweries in the nation, and deserves a visit from anyone reading this...
google avatar

Janelle S.

Yelp
A great location! The space is really big inside, so this is a great option for different sized groups. We sat outside because we brought our pup and it was a great space for people with dogs. All of the dogs and owners were respectful and there was enough room to avoid eachother if our pups didn't want to make friends. I went in to get our beers and really liked the bar in this brewery as well. Next time if we come without the dog, I wouldn't mind sitting at the bar. Service was good and beers were good too. We preferred the IPAs at this location - they were all very good!
google avatar

Heidi C.

Yelp
Cannonball Creek caught my eye as we were headed back from Golden Gate Canyon State Park. It is definitely our favorite brewery in Golden. They have such a nice space here and the beer is really excellent. Our first time here was a great experience. It was pretty slow, so we started chatting with some of the taproom staff. They were so friendly and knowledgeable. We tasted several different kinds and finally settled on full pints of the IPA and Saison. We also got a 6oz. pour of the Expresso Stout which was divine. It was like dessert; coffee chocolate deliciousness. They have a lot of games and plenty of seating! Cannonball has several food trucks that park on the backside of the brewery. I will definitely stop by Cannonball Creek everytime I'm in Golden.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
I stopped by while visiting the area for a wedding. Being my first time in Colorado in well over a decade, I was excited to try as many breweries as possible. I ended up only going to Cannonball Creek, and Crooked Stave on our way back to the airport. This place was amazing. Nothing fancy, overdone, or even much (if anything) beyond the four main ingredients. I tried almost every beer over the two days I was in the area, and every single one blew me away. Pilsner, Session, Belgian Golden, IPA, robust porter, to name a few that were all well done and true to style. Well done!
google avatar

M M.

Yelp
This place is great if you love beer obviously it is a brewery so that makes sense. But they do not have anything on draft that is not beer no ciders, wine or any other beverages. The beer we had was good. The best thing about this place was an awesome food truck right outside that served by pulled bison! It was amazing.
