Start-Up Canolio Gourmet Will Specialize in Cannabis Chefs | Eater Montreal
"A Montreal-based start-up that lets Canadians hire private chefs to prepare cannabis-infused meals in their homes, Canolio Gourmet bills itself as an online platform where you can “book a responsible home chef who knows how to showcase cannabis with local flavors.” Its chefs will be trained in cannabis regulations and the science of dosing to prevent overconsumption; Antonin Mousseau-Rivard is mentoring the brigade of “CannaChefPro” chefs (he will not be available for customers to hire). Prices are expected to range from $85 to $225 depending on chef and menu; children and pregnant women are barred from dinners (the latter restriction has been flagged as potentially discriminatory). Menus are expected to focus on cuisines such as Italian, Thai and French, and so far the only named chef is Travis Petersen, a West Coast cook and former MasterChef Canada contestant known for expertise in cooking with weed. Because cannabis sales are limited to government stores or licensed dispensaries, customers—especially in Quebec—will likely have to supply their own marijuana and follow precise purchasing directions from their chef, allowing Canolio to market a cooking service (likened to Airbnb) rather than a cannabis product as a legal workaround." - Tim Forster
