Stayed at Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre, which is very well located. The hotel is within walking distance of popular eateries, the city centre, and the famous church, making it extremely convenient for exploring Reykjavik.
The room itself was generally fine and comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep. However, some wear and tear was noticeable, such as slightly peeling walls. Temperature control was also inconsistent, with the room sometimes feeling too warm even with the heater switched off, and at other times too cold. As the hotel is close to the city centre, noise can be expected late at night, up to 4/5am
One logistical inconvenience was having to lug luggage through the level 5 roof terrace initially, although a simpler route via Level 4 was discovered later during the stay.
One important point for both the hotel and future guests to note is that dental kits and shaving kits are not actively provided unless upon requested and during the stay, it was noticed that all the available kits of the “same batch” were expired, some by 2-3 years, which is not acceptable, especially for a hotel under the Hilton brand. When this was raised with staff, the response appeared rather nonchalant, which was disappointing.
On a positive note, breakfast was excellent. The salmon selection was particularly enjoyable, and the chocolate Danish stood out as a highlight.
Overall, the hotel offers a great location and strong breakfast, but there are several areas that could be improved to better match expectations for an international hotel brand.
