This hotel is beautiful! My husband and I were inlove with the room, it looked so new and we loved the interior design! Everything was clean and the staff are nice :) We were here for a staycation with friends, the pool at the rooftop is although a bit small, still a great place to hang out. Very nice views too! Would love to come back!

I'd give this hotel 5 stars because I genuinely enjoyed my stay, though there are a few areas for improvement. Pros: - Conveniently located in the heart of the college town, with many destinations within walking distance - Hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating to our needs - Rooms were spotless and the beds were very comfortable - The brunch at the hotel restaurant is reasonably priced and surprisingly delicious Areas for improvement: Upon check-in, I was informed that my Hilton Gold status entitled me to a $15 credit per person per night. With two guests staying for two nights, I figured this would be $60 in total credit. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the hotel restaurant and charged it to our room. However, at checkout, only $15 had been applied in total. I understand these policies vary between Hilton properties, but I'd suggest the management provide clearer, more accurate information about credit amounts at check-in to avoid confusion.

The Canopy Hilton is surrounded by the ASU campus, and its location is everything and truly one of the most walkable areas you can stay in. As a Diamond-for-Life Hilton member, I stay at more Hiltons than I can count each year for work, so I only leave reviews when a stay is either very good or very bad; otherwise, I’d have hundreds of Hilton reviews! This one was very good. We stayed just one night, but the experience stood out. The property has a great vibe and is beautifully decorated. The rooms were comfortable, stylish, and had everything we needed. I especially loved the Nespresso machine in the room as I use one at home, and the coffee options here were fun. My hubby used the gym and it had everything he needed. My only complaint is one of our towels had began to unravel and had threads hanging off of it. The rest were fine. There are plenty of excellent restaurants within a block or two. We had dinner at The Filthy Pig and breakfast at First Watch, both an easy walk. There’s also a Zupa’s nearby. We visited the rooftop lounge for dessert, and the service was fantastic with really lovely views. Every staff member we interacted with was welcoming and helpful, and they truly made our stay wonderful. We’ll definitely be back.

This was our second year staying at this hotel. The staff really did a great job welcoming us and providing great rooms on the 12th floor. We had 2 rooms reserved, both facing University, but did not notice the noise that others have mentioned. Ear plugs are provided but we did not use them. Having a white noise machine going also helped ensure a good night's sleep. The barn doors were a nice touch and worked fine. I liked that one set of doors separates the sleeping area from the bathroom and hallway where the coffee machine is located. The other one separates the toilet area from the vanity and sink area. The lighting over the sink could be brighter, however, as it was not conducive to applying makeup. A magnifying mirror is provided which helped. The hotel's location was also perfect! It's only one block away from Mill Ave where the Tempe Festival of the Arts was going on and where so many restaurants are located. We were there for a swim meet, so it was a short 7 minute walk to ASU's pool. As others have mentioned, the hotel is ideally located to campus. We are looking forward to our stay next year!

Google
Every employee I interacted with was attentive, kind, friendly, and helpful. Superb service all around that made my stay a complete joy. Location is amazing, and the hotel is clean & modern. Vibey lobby with fireplace, and vibey rooftop with heated pool. Make sure you take the bikes out - they’re the perfect way to explore Mill St, ASU, and Tempe town lake trail!

Google
Great location, nice facilities, and helpful staff. Beware of parking… $39 for hotel valet or $25 self-park in same garage. Rooms are very dark (stylish, but poor lighting), the windows don’t open for airflow, and there are no microwaves. But the bed is comfy, the fridge is cleverly in a drawer, and the rooms are spacious! I noticed there was even a clothes steamer. We also enjoyed the rooftop bar (included gluten free options!) and would have lounged on the sun deck by the pool had it been warmer. We would definitely return when in the area.

Top-Notch Stay for a Work Trip! I stayed at the Canopy by Hilton while in town for an in-person training, and it was the perfect choice. From the moment I checked in, the customer service was exceptional. The entire team was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and went out of their way to make my stay a great one. I was blown away by my room—it was huge! After a long day of training, it was wonderful to come back to such a modern, impeccably clean space. It had all the amenities I needed to feel comfortable and relaxed. The absolute highlight for me was the rooftop bar. The atmosphere is awesome, with incredible views of the city. It was the perfect spot to unwind after my sessions. Overall, it was a 10/10 experience. If you're traveling to Tempe, especially for work, I highly recommend it. I will definitely be back!

Google
The Canopy has an outstanding location adjacent to the campus of ASU and a few steps from Mill Street. Easy check in and check out by efficient front desk staff, who thoroughly explained the hotel policies. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Lots of outlets and USB ports. Elevators which can be an issue at some hotels were fast with minimal waits. The onsite restaurants, Alter Ego and Alibi are both very good. Recommend either a higher floor or room not facing University Ave as street noise can be loud at times.

Yelp
I just finished my second stay at Canopy in Tempe and have mixed feelings. Both times I booked with my Amex as part of The Hotel Collection. That gives me $100 food & beverage credit but the hotel won't honor my Hilton Gold benefits which should give me $60 anyway. I'm also supposed to get late checkout when available but both times it wasn't available. I'm paying more for a booking via THC, so what exactly am I paying for if I get no extra benefits? The room itself is pretty good. Nespresso in the room which is nice but I prefer an Americano so I brought my portable electric kettle. Was so much better than drinking espressos last trip! The bed is comfortable and the room A/C worked great for me, though I've read other reviews where they said they had problems. I will say the rooms are really dim. I had all the light on and could barely see anything when trying to work. I didn't like that. As for the restaurant and bar, those are great! The food is better than your average hotel food and the drinks are great. On top of that, some of the staff remembered me from my last trip a year and a half ago. Honestly all the F&B staff are really excellent. Food can be slow to come out but there are some really good dishes, like the breakfast burrito and the miso salmon. Had I not had my benefits tripped, I'd enjoy this hotel a bit more. Next time I'll stay somewhere else.

Yelp
Shout-out to GARRETT!!! Garrett is one of best bartenders in downtown Tempe!!! They have the best burgers in my opinion, as I've had them several times. The ambiance is awesome on the rooftop where you can take breath taking photos over downtown Tempe. You don't have to be a guest to go on the rooftop! I took my Auntie here for a goodbye view after taking her to din din in the area. We really enjoyed ourselves. I'm looking forward to returning as usual.

Yelp
Beautiful new modern hotel in downtown Tempe. The hotel is located one block from Mill Ave. which is the hub for dining and shopping. You do not need a vehicle is you are staying in the Tempe area. There is valet parking for $39 a day or self garage parking for $20 a day. The lobby is gorgeous with eclectic chairs and a fireplace. There is also a bar and restaurant. Check in was super quick and easy. We were upgraded to a high floor corner room for being a Hilton Honors member. The room was modern and clean. The bedroom was separate from the bathroom area and separated by a barn door. The closet area had a coffee nook and a cooling drawer for perishables. Instead of an iron a very nice steamer was provided. Check out the rooftop deck bar/restaurant. They have a regular happy hour and a reverse happy hour. The views are amazing. Definitely try the guacamole, salsa, chips appetizer.

Yelp
When I visit the Phoenix area, I typically stay in Scottsdale, so Tempe was a new location for me. The ride from the airport was super quick (and who doesn't appreciate that?). On the plus side: + Love the glass water vessel and the ability to fill it up down the hall (I want this amenity standard in all hotels!). + Clothing steamer + Taco Tuesday on the rooftop (and the excellent bartender with her festive holiday mixology who made our afternoon) On the minus side: - Couldn't close the curtains fully so had to make peace with sleeping with more light that I'd like - Slightly uneven water temperature and pressure in the shower For my quick, one night trip, the Canopy and its staff treated me well. I only wish I'd been able to nab a cinnamon roll in the downstairs restaurant before I flew out. Maybe next time!

Yelp
I really love this property! The staff is amazing, especially thaylor (spelling might be off). I've been hosting my National trainings here for a couple years now and every year they get better. The sales/convention space team is odd but everyone else is great. I only say that because I've never actually met them. I work with them for years and they never show up to say hello or introduce them themselves and if i need them on a weekend (during my event) they aren't around and don't answer calls. Besides that, this hotel is wonderful. The food, the rooms, the drinks, and the pool.

Yelp
Location and decor were great. Walking distance from ASU and lots of places to eat. Room was very cute and the vibe was great. The bathroom and closet area share a space, so it makes the area seem bigger, which is nice. The bathroom amenities were different from other Hilton properties. Apotheke Charcoal is a very distinctive fragrance. If you don't like earthy medicinal smell, use your own products. What was a bit of a disappointment was the parking. Self-parking was $25 per ENTRY. Valet was $40.00 per night. Each time we parked we got a text to encourage tipping. The recommended was $7.50 each time. That seemed a bit much. So we tipped cash. If you need to be close to ASU this is a great location.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying the front desk was extremely nice and the lobby is gorgeous. We came here today to celebrate a friend's birthday, she rented out 2 cabanas on the rooftop. We were really excited for this! From the minute we got to the pool, the service was lacking. There was only 1 bartender and no server for the cabanas however the bartender told us to order at the cabanas? She also said that she would come back and never did. We also ordered a guac and buffalo cauliflower and we got it 30-40 minutes later, cold. We then had the pleasure of meeting SLADE. Who gave us the attention and service that we needed. He went above and beyond to make sure that not only us, but everyone in our cabanas were taken care of. I'd assume that each cabana would have a server of their own, as many of the others we've gone to have that. Maybe this is something that you guys should look into having.

Yelp
The one unbreakable requirement for a hotel is to enable a good night's sleep. This Canopy by Hilton fails that test. Even on the 7th floor, the street noise from University Boulevard sounds like Pit Road at NASCAR. Cars without mufflers, racing or revving their engines, all night long. Loud enough that my wife could hear it on the other end of a phone call. It's obviously a known problem, because, when I arrived, there was a pair of earplugs and an apologetic note on the bedside table. I've never seen that before, even at hotels on airport property. Maybe the builders cheated on sound insulation. Or they used double-paned glass when they should have used triple-paned. Or maybe some carpet would have helped. I don't know. What I do know is that (1) I called downstairs to see if I could move to a room in the other side of the building (no), and (2) I'm checking out a day early to find another hotel. Otherwise, this place is unremarkable. Nice rooftop bar. Nice lobby restaurant. Excellent friendly staff. Typical corner-cutting on the room: Refrigerator set to 50°. Invisible bedside light switches. Cheap mattress. All of that would be forgiven if I could only have gotten some QUIET.

Yelp
Very nice new hotel in Tempe for my Saturday night stay. Loved the styling of the interior and the exterior. Definitely does away with your standard cookie cutter hotel cues. Stayed just 1 night and staff was great. The parking is only valet I believe however I took an Uber and did not need to use those facilities. It is the ASU area so parking does come at a premium. Room style was modern with brown leathers that fit into a unique style I often find in Arizona and more so around artsy places like Scottsdale and Roosevelt Ave. The bed was really comfortable for me. But it was not on the firm side. Pool is all the way on the 14th floor giving amazing views of Tempe. The rooftop bar which is indoors had a phenomenal bartender. She was great however she was the only one working and I was sitting there for a few minutes before placing my order for a beer to take to the pool. They could use another bartender especially as the bar and patio sections were about 90% full. Used Hilton honors points to book this room as it seems to be one of the best value you get for the Tempe area! I do have the AMEX Hilton card and the sign up bonus was more than enough to cover this stay.

Yelp
The food was flavorful the view was delicious! The staff were all perky & pretty as well What a memorable place to have drinks ! We took Uber from the airport and our ride met us here ! We felt so sauve for doing so ! Parking was complimentary with our dining at the AlABI rooftop restaurant. I love the look of the pool here .... and "resort pass "has day and also night time passes ! Definitely shall return

Yelp
Mixed review, but hotel is a safe & clean location for lodging that is next to ASU. Price is very high, but pricing in this area is extraordinary at all hotels. Ambiance is very nice - industrial vibe with alot of orange. In fact, businesses on this street really like orange. Pros - Clean room with the basics. Staff is nice. Location is good, but I wrote that already. Trendy decor. In-room coffee maker & fridge. A variety of options in room for drinking water. High-quality toiletries provided, so no need to bring your own. Onsite parking & bike rental. Restaurants, bars, & pool. Awesome views from room. Ample seating & work areas on main floor. Luggage storage before / after in case you need it. Shower water turns on from door, so you don't need to stand under cold water to turn it on. Nightly activities for all guests & some are open to the public. 2 desks provided in rooms with plenty of room for storage. Cons - Poor lighting in bathroom-I can't see my face! Mattress has a lean to it because everyone sleeps on the same side & it isn't flipped for balance. Coffee pods taste 'dusty' & should be replaced more frequently for freshness. Concrete floors are unpleasant to walk on & no slippers are provided. Use stairs at your own risk because they do NOT open to the main floor. Use exterior doors at your own risk because they are NOT unlocked with any consistency-guests waiting are expected to open the door for guests arriving (wait.. what? WHY?). Shower has hot water, but you've got to be a plumber or have time to figure out how to use it. Parking costs $$ for guests. WORST MOMENT -- On my last night, the TV turned on with a greeting for JOHN with HILTON HONORS DIAMOND. ummmm.... that's not me. I was assured by the front desk staff that this is an ongoing issue with the TVs and John had a different room for the evening.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place because I really wanted to love it, but I stayed here for a couple nights on a business trip and had a really good time in this area. But after a long night of work and leisure I came back to a massive shit in my bathroom!!! I felt utterly disgusted and I am appalled that an employee would even do that. Is that really how the employees act??I had planned to leave a generous tip and review but now I am repulsed by this place and I don't think I plan to stay here in the future and will make sure my company doesn't either if they don't plan on making things right.

Yelp
I had a great stay at Canopy while in town on business. The facility is conveniently located, and the front desk staff were very helpful when I needed help finding a place to shop for business casual attire. The facility itself was very clean and I personally loved the decor. My room was great. I'm not a big fan of carpet in hotel rooms generally because you never know how often they are cleaned, and you don't know what might be in those fibers. I loved the floor in my room here. it was clear that it was clean and in good condition as well. My double room was spacious, and the amenities were good. I had a Nespresso machine in my room and it was always re-stocked with new pods. Added bonus was the steamer which I like a lot more than an iron. The steamer was fantastic on my clothes, and I felt polished and put together as I left every morning. The desk area was not that conducive to working for me. Lighting was too dim and the desk area too small. I made it work and thankfully i was walking distance to the meetings I had to go to so it did not present much of an issue. I recommend this location and will return for either business or leisure in the future.

Yelp
first night. Bummer a few things kinda gross. Couch has a big stain... duvet legit has a big maybe pasta stain w like lemon totally crumbs. Staff is amazing they immediately came in and changed but as far as sanitation... which is my biggest thing i'm not happy. Do love the cement floors and beautiful carmel's they offer at front desk. Parking confusing sweet girl at front desk had a "I don't know" about parking situation. Had a couple cocktails at bar. Bartender lovely. Cocktails about 17-20 bucks and they are ok. Not amazing. But service here is impeccable. However in same breath for the price i've paid definitely wouldn't return. Cleanliness is all I care about aside from service ofcourse

Jessie J.

Yelp
When I come to town this is one of my top two spots! Location is great, hotel restaurant and bar is good and the staff is always so friendly and helpful. The hiking, restaurants and downtown are all within walking distance. There's also an easily accessible train for game day! Tempe town lake is down the street and you can rent a bike or a boat.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our recent stay at the Canopy by Hilton Tempe. We stayed here (our second time) because of the positive experience on our first/previous visit, and it was just as great, if not better. We were greeted pleasantly at check in, were offered an upgrade (a NICE one which we took advantage of), and the process was smooth and efficient as well. Room was great, I pointed out a lot of details in my previous review, I love the lighting, the labeled master and coffee switches, comfortable bed with big fluffy pillow, nice big TV with streaming capabilities, well functioning air conditioning, ample closet space, and excellent bathroom. Having two towel hooks (minimum) is a HUGE bonus for me, because we've stayed at so many nice hotels who still overlook the functional need for two hooks. But the bath products are great, the shampoo and body wash both smell great, and they're easily accessible affixed to the shower wall and in easy reach right above the sink as well. Didn't even need to use any of my electronics chargers, because there were plenty of conveniently placed USB ports. I do want to point out the exceptional - and I mean exceptional - housekeeping service. I mean, the service overall at this hotel is stellar, just consistently excellent, but even at THAT standard, I don't think in all these years, I've ever had a room serviced by housekeeping so quickly after I requested it! And on top of that, the staff here did it cheerfully - we frequently get a ton of attitude when requesting housekeeping service at other hotels, responses like "look, our housekeeping staff service rooms during these hours, and we can't say when yours is gonna be done - and don't ask us to." That's the kind of attitude I'm used to. It it's taken hours in many cases. At the Canopy by Hilton Tempe, housekeeping service was not only provided quickly, but was performed incredibly well - the room was spotless, sheets freshened, sink and shower areas all clean and shiny, very nice thorough job. I liked the text messaging channel of service delivery, too. I don't think there was a single staff member we interacted with who didn't greet us cheerfully (and there was some OUTSTANDING staff - Caitlin, Andrew, and not sure if the front desk woman was Caitlin or if I just didn't get her name, sorry) and that includes the restaurant side at Alter Ego, the service there knocked my socks off. I even liked the ice makers - you get 3 options (just ice, just water, combo) and you put the bucket under the dispenser and if it doesn't automatically dispense, you hold your room key card against the back, behind the bucket. Pretty cool! So let's get to the restaurant, another nice component at the Canopy. The Alter Ego dinner was one of the most memorable I've ever had. First of all, they were EXTREMELY accommodating to us, which alone really pleased us. But the EXPERIENCE was FANTASTIC. It was my birthday dinner. The food was wonderful, and Cody was our server, and he REALLY made it an experience I'll never forget. I really liked his personality, he was so attentive, he guided us through the menu with excellent advice, AND he whipped up an after dinner drink for me based solely on a brief conversation about what I like, and I LOVED the drink (now known as the watermelon white linen) and took one back to the room. He was a lot of fun and made the experience wonderful and memorable. My wife had the charred scallion meatballs served atop the crispy noodles. Wow. CHOCK full of flavor, definitely a kick to it, so flavor and spice. I had the airline chicken and it was excellent as well. The chicken wings were surprisingly good, though, as the appetizer. Crispy, tender, and flavorful. Excellent garlic chili and Korean BBQ dipping sauces come with it. Wow. BIG hit with us. The excellent food certainly contributed to the experience but Cody and the service he delivered will probably stick in my mind more than even the great food. We couldn't be more pleased with the dining experience and it was a great birthday dinner. Just loved being here overall. Nice lobby, open and airy, nice artwork, great restaurant, incredible level of customer service, great room, didn't even get to the rooftop pool/bar. Guess we'll have to come back. And we will.

Yelp
What a stunning hotel! It is a long overdue review but I believe it is better late than never ;) We stayed at the hotel during Rock-n-Roll Marathon. My partner was so impressed with hotel that he refused to go explore the city. We were staying in one of the suites and his argument was that room had two TVs and he has never seen anything like this before. Room is very modern with sleek design, rooftop bar is fabulous. Staff at the bar was so kind and supportive seeing that we returned after the race. When I go back to Tempe, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I'm a little underwhelmed by this hotel. I'm here on business and it gets the basic hotel objectives done by providing you a bed, a shower, and on-site amenities such as a restaurant and wi-fi. But for my money and preferences, it would not be in my top picks in the future unless I needed to be near to the heart of the ASU campus. The things that may appeal to many in the hipster crowd is that there are plenty of younger, college aged people around and there are plenty of places for food and beverage nearby within east walking distance. It also has a young, industrial decor feel to it with plenty of concrete flooring and modern types of furnishings (think IKEA had a baby with a prison designer and you will get the picture). I'm sure this appeals to the younger traveler that favors form over function and pretty over productivity. Unfortunately that is not me but it is the Canopy by Hilton brand appeal which is pretty good at subtly pointing out to me that I am simply aging out haha! Now here is what I didn't care for: 1. As some have pointed out, it is loud with outside noises heard in the room. I don't know if this is due to cheap construction with little thought to soundproofing or the fact that the younger crowd in the area like to drive vehicles with loud ("look at me") exhausts or both. But either way, there is a fair amount of noise in the rooms facing University Avenue and you will hear it at all times of the day or night. They put some earplugs by the bed as an acknowledgement of this but that is a bit like putting a bucket in your room to use because the roof leaks. 2. They have a mandatory valet parking service here for $30/night. I don't mind paying for that at upscale establishments or when the parking situation is complex. But here, the parking garage is literally 5 steps away from the front entrance. To top that off, the valet attendants go home at night so good luck getting your car before they come back on duty again in the morning unless you told them you may need it overnight in which case they leave your keys at the front desk and you go get the car yourself. If you are going to make me pay for a service that is only partially available and I still have to go get my own car overnight, that seems abusive to my wallet for no good reason. 3. I did let the valet know I might need my car. When I got my keys early in the morning, I found my car parked in the handicapped parking spot. I appreciate that they probably did that to make it convenient for me as it is the closest to the hotel entrance but I am not handicapped and the vehicle was not placarded as such. I have had a career working in healthcare and public safety so seeing my car parked here when it is unwarranted and illegal was not really appreciated by me. There are people that actually need these spots and I do not. The use of the spot by the valet in this fashion leaves a bad image of the valet experience in my mind. In summary, it's a basic hotel with some churched up aspects to it. It will look good to the non-discriminating traveler that values form over function. It is part of the Hilton Honors loyalty program but there is nothing great here for Hilton loyalists (I am a Lifetime Diamond member and received nothing special and not even an acknowledgement of that at check-in). For the same money, the Phoenix area has some great mid-level properties to stay at in my opinion. This is not one of them.

Yelp
Came for my friend's birthday and she had gotten two cabanas. Check in with the front desk was great, but the whole experience changed once we got to the pool. There was only one bartender and no server for the cabana. The bartender was not helpful at all and was rude. The second time we came up for drinks, she told us to order from the cabana and that she would be right over. She never came and ended up helping out everyone else at the bar, even though, we were the first people at the bar. What saved the day was Slade. We told him our concerns and he took care of us the rest of our time there. He is an amazing server and very caring. This place should really put more staff on the floor if cabanas are booked.

Yelp
Stayed at the Canopy Hilton for 4 nights for my son's Spring Break. I have to say, overall, my stay was wonderful! Room: Had a 2 Queen bed room. Very comfortable and clean. Needed to call for housekeeping, because they come around kind of early, but that may have been the only drawback. Nespresso espresso machine was a huge plus. Live the smell of the hand soap and body wash. Saltwater Pool: heated for the cool Spring evenings. The rooftop bar is close-by, in case you want to enjoy a cocktail in one of the cabanas. Sunset is beautiful from the rooftop area. Bar/Restaurant: food was very good in the restaurant. I recommend the chicken sandwich. Only had one drink while I was here, but it was an espresso martini and terrific! Parking: valet is $30 a day, I believe, but we self parked for $20. Just works easier for me for the amount of times we came and went. Lobby: excellent, knowledgeable and friendly front desk staff. Lobby has a ton of room to hang out and do some work. Multiple places to plug in, too. Strong wifi I shall return!!

Yelp
Gorgeous newer hotel in Tempe near Mill street area. This place has many great features including pet friendly. The lobby is spacious, and has a business room where I did some work. It had great shelves with books of many different European art and history, although the property is on Diné land and does not acknowledge same. Missed opportunity there. The rooms are trendy, and I love the concrete floors so I don't worry about cleanliness. Great decor. They have these adorbs little mini fridges that looks like drawers. They don't get uber cold though so I was not comfortable putting yogurt or anything that could spoil in it. On the very downside these rooms do not dampen sound at all, as many reviews have pointed out. Very very very noisy. I used my white noise app on a very loud setting. So this concept hotel is attempting to be a disrupter and I love disrupting as long as it does not disrupt my routine. I exercise at 5am. I went to the (absolutely gorgeous) fitness center and it was closed, does not open until until 6am. In Phoenix, where people have to be at work and in meetings on east coast time. This is a huge oversight and a big miss. Unfortunately, they charge for parking. On a final note, they absolutely did not let me check in before 4pm. Every other hotel in all my frequent travel (I mean for real) allows for this. Not here. So plan accordingly. I will stay here again, and bring earplugs:)

This property is exceptional! We stayed here on our road trip out to Sedona for one night and had an amazing experience. The staff was extremely helpful and kind and the property was clean and very accessible. The dinner and breakfast was absolutely amazing and complimented the staff for great service. We had such a great experience that we returned here on our way back from Sedona for one night. Again, we dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and were very happy with the quality of product and how well balanced the meals were. Chef Russell was extremely kind and took the time to come out from the kitchen to speak with us. He was very kind and generous towards our eight-year-old daughter and had the opportunity to get to know him. I highly suggest visiting this property and I'm sure you'll have the same great experience as we did. Our server for Breakfast was Faith and she did an exceptional job

Yelp
This hotel is closed to the restaurants and stores which is very convenient. The room is pretty roomy and quiet. I like the concrete floor, but the carpet under the bed is very dirty and old. I suggest that they should remove it. It may look better without. Parking cost $32, but you can park at ASU for $16. Customer service is okay.

Yelp
It's been about a month since we left our two night stay at this hotel and I keep thinking about it. Such a great place. One of my favorite experiences at a hotel. Now in all reality this could be due to the fact that because of Covid, nobody was there... but I like to think that in normal times it would be as fabulous. So, 1.5 years later I never finished this review. But I came back here, because I really did love this hotel. We stayed in December 2020. My only complaint Was it was a lot of street noise unfortunately. I sleep with ear plugs regularly so it didn't bother me to have to, however sometimes Loud trucks or motorcycles would pass by and I'd hear them. It is right next to ASU. Many restaurants within walking or biking (see further below!) distance. The hotel is gorgeous, still I can say. Fantastic front desk and valet. Alter ego is the downstairs bar where we were on a Thursday and heard some really beautiful covers by Jacob Tyler Lucas. Amazing voice and love the love music, great lemon drop martini. The pool is small but totally adequate considering nobody was there then - and nobody was there on a Monday around 1 pm either in the major heat of the end of June 2022. Great views from the pool. Outdoor showers. The lobby and common areas are gorgeous with floor to ceiling windows. Back in December we checked out the provided beach cruisers and rode around to the River front and to some nearby restaurants. They still were outside near valet this visit. I would 100 percent return here to stay if I didn't book a lot of my travel through Costco. Oh also you can get day passes or rent a cabana for the pool at resort pass dot com. Enjoy this beautiful property!!

Yelp
This place is cute, modern, conveniently located close to shopping and right by the college! Depending on who's reading this could be good or bad. For me, it was neither. I wanted to check out this rooftop pool and bar. The lobby- I do like the decor. Not super big inside but plenty of room to chill and get out of the room. The restaurant- Has some good stuff on the menu. I tried the breakfast Flatbread. It was overcooked and dry. It was picture close to perfect, but not edible. I literally could of through it through a glass window and it would break. Next is the Eggs Beni that one was good. Had chorizo on it. Can't go wrong with that kind of flavor, can you? It was delicious. The Morning Glory- Coffee drink with peanut butter whiskey, espresso, and coffee liqueur (Genius!). That was tasty! Thanks, Julie. She was our server. She was pleasantly happy! Let's get to the pool. On the 14th floor with a full-service bar. I do like the vibe up here. The Dj was a nice touch. He played until around 6 pm. So the pool is pretty small. The water was warm like a hot bath that had been sitting for about 30 minutes. However, I do like that they have umbrellas for shade, Lounge chairs, and Cabanas if needed. Service well let us just say short staffed. We went to the bar most of the time to get drinks and food. The food though oh my! We need a quality control position. First, our appetizer of Ceviche took 45 mins and was not good. It had no flavor and the chips well basic. The portion was small as well. Ekkkkk is not a huge deal but noted for sure. Toward the end of our time at the pool, we did have a nice young man come around with a sample of a strawberry shot that was refreshing. I did enjoy the atmosphere. There are a few kinks to work out. Let's start with the pool. A second one would be nice that is designated for children/families with some kind of water sprinkler system and a slide with water sports. The current pool just seems fairly small for young children (6 to be exact) to be running around like crazy. lol Plus not to mention very unsafe. I would stay again but probably wouldn't access the pool unless it's 21 and older, empty, or a private event. Cute place though! The room- Again cute but no freezer in the frig. Nespresso machine is small and loud. Last but not least the staff was fabulous. I mean beyond nice. So even though I am telling you all about my experience. They gave me life! The stars are for the ladies at the front desk. Happy and full of life. I checked in 5/21/22. All 3 of you were wonderful. Sorry I had a good time I did forget all your names. I may stay again just for that 5 star service!

Yelp
My husband and I decided to take a daycation! We used resort pass and got to experience the resort for the day. They have a beautiful restaurant down stairs, Alter Ego. Near the pool is a fun bar and restaurant, Alibi! We will definitely be back, thanks so much for having us!

Yelp
The building is beautiful and the service is friendly. Went with a Resort Pass to use the pool. The pool is cute, pretty small and all ages. Had a good time until a larger family pretty much took over the whole place. Good reminder to stick with 21+ pools.

Yelp
This is a great hotel! The location is perfectly nestled downtown. The lobby is very impressive. Huge fireplace and comfy lounge areas. The rooms were very nice. The beds were comfortable and soft! Very clean and well taken care of. I would definitely stay here again! There are just a few negative aspects. The street noise is very loud. I get that you are downtown, but the cars were very loud. It really kept me awake. It is also pet friendly, which I don't like. A huge German Shepard was freaking out in the elevator! I didn't hear them once in my room thankfully! I know it's the trend but I'm not a fan of animals in high end hotels.

Yelp
We were in town for spring training as we do every year. Generally, we stay away from some of the more touristy areas. We decided to stay in the ASU area since it was close to the things we wanted to do. As an alumni, it was interesting to see how built up the area was overall and finally having some hotels in the area. Prior to my arrival I had a quick chat with the front desk through the app to indicate we had two different reservations and some other notes. They were kind to take notice of it. When we checked in the female front desk associated with long dark hair I think her name is Marissa, was super friendly and helpful. There were no upgrades available as a Diamond elite which was fine. We were moved to a higher floor, however. I don't necessarily recommend that you have a room facing university drive because it is rather loud overnight with the loud car exhaust, etc. passing by the king size room was spacious and well appointed. It had water and coffee as well as a small refrigerator. The shower pressure was just OK. Upstairs, we utilize the pool one afternoon and had some beverages. That was a great experience. There was a DJ the same evening which was also fun. On Sunday, we dined for breakfast in the restaurants. The food was surprisingly delicious. The bacon was outstanding as were the breakfast potatoes. Service was super friendly. My only issue is that Valet service took longer than expected even after utilizing the app to request the car. So allow yourself plenty of time if you are in a hurry to go to a special event, etc. because it probably will take 10 to 20 minutes or more. As for other parking lots, there could be some around the area. There is some street parking, but I don't know how long long term it is. If you are pulling in, you'll need to enter on the forest Avenue side. I definitely would come back to this location. If you are visiting ASU or the surrounding areas, there's lots of restaurants, bars, shopping, including a Whole Foods. Always good to see the Chuckbox.

Yelp
If you need a good night sleep don't select this hotel, noise level from the street is awful. They do provide earplugs on your nightstand if you like that!

Yelp
Close to ASU if that's what you need. Rooms are very minimalist. Lots of broken things in the room. This is one of the "concrete floor" concept hotels. They do have a small rooftop pool on the 14th floor, but no jacuzzi. Only valet parking.

Yelp
Rolled up to Canopy by Hilton for the first time this afternoon in Tempe. Valet was our first contact and from that greeting I knew we were at a great place. Entering the lobby the super high ceiling and large windows set the tone for this beautiful new constructed Hotel with lots of spaces to lounge in the lobby with double sided fireplace. Megan checked us in accommodating us before the scheduled check in time. Megan was a great ambassador for this property and even checked us out the complimentary beach cruiser bicycles for a ride down to the river. This 14 floor hotel is beautiful and the rooftop bar with heated pool is the icing on the cake! We swung down to the lobby around 6pm to the amazing sounds of an acoustic guitar artist Jacob Tyler Lucas performing multiple top hit songs to include "Perfect," "Slow Hands," "Amazed," "Hey there Delilah," We ended up listening to him for hours as we enjoyed the hotel lobby bar Alter Ego, nothing better than snuggling up with your loved one in this hotel lobby listening to great music and relaxing by the fireplace. The rooms are very nice and include a pullout refrigerator, comfy bed, and nice extra touches within the walk in shower. We will be returning to stay here as there are tons of walkable places to eat around the hotel as ASU is just next door! Five stars Canopy by Hilton Tempe.

Yelp
Situated right downtown Tempe at ASUs campus conveniently located near food and shops. My son has attended ASU and we stayed here each of the 3 years. We have plenty of other hotel options but this property is stunning and fun! The employees are helpful, kind and friendly from the front desk, the bartenders and servers! The hotel is beautiful on the inside and out. Valet parking for an extra cost but very convenient with daily in and out privileges. Bikes are available to rent around town or most places are walkable. The restaurant downstairs and the rooftop bar/pool area are amazing. Delicious bits to full meals that are anything but basic. The cocktails and view on the 14th floor are impeccable. Clean and functional rooms. Ice maker on each floor with water service. Bring a water bottle to your stay or just grab a glass and glass container in the room. Refrigerator available in room but no microwave. Coffee maker, iron and blow dryer. Soft and comfortable bed making easy to get a good night's rest. Laundry service available but not self service laundry available in the hotel. A full gym with a lot of equipment, both machine and free weights to treads, elliptical and peloton bike (great if you have a membership!). Gym on the 13 floor with water and towls available. The pool does offer cabanas to rent and they have towls available to all. Servers do attend the pool area so no need to lift a finger. An outdoor shower with a beautiful view of the mountains to a large bathroom area to change or get ready if you need. Given the hotel is in the city, the views are spectacular but the noise would drive someone crazy. I was numb to it so it didn't bother me. Everything about this hotel keeps bringing us back. It's affordable luxury that just makes sense for us while in town to visit our son.

Yelp
I really loved this hotel! I'm torn between giving a perfect rating or a 4/5. I decided that although there were a few small things to note about this hotel, their excellent customer service and overall experience here was deserving of a perfect rating. The few things to note that made me want to knock down a star weren't deal breakers in staying here. In fact, they were pretty small. But still worth noting. Here they are: Water is warm/hot. If it wasn't in the triple digits I wouldn't have cared but when it is that hot out I like to take a cooler shower. As well as have the temperature in the pool be cooler. I discovered that if you just barely turn the knob on the shower, although the water pressure isn't at the fullest, the water at least will come out cool. So I ended up using the shower at the pool to cool off instead of using the pool the majority of the time. (I did use the pool my last day there instead of the shower and it was cooler that day than the other 4 days I was there.) The other thing to note, the pool is accessible to non-hotel guests who can purchase a day pass to access the pool. The rooftop bar also has a door allowing guests to enter in through the bar and use the side door to access the pool without needing a key card. I noticed a couple of the days that people would come from the bar to hang out at the pool with their drinks. (Not swimming or using the pool, just sitting on the lounge chairs to enjoy their drinks.) Thankfully, I came during a not so busy season and would also get there late morning so there never was an issue of not having a place to sit. But during busier times can see that being an issue considering there aren't a lot of chairs. My last thing to note is during the week they keep the music at a comfortable volume at the pool. For some reason on Saturday at about noon one of the employees came and decided to turn it up from a comfortable volume to blasting the music (to the point that the speaker would make that static sound from being so loud) when I asked them the night before my understanding was that the pool party started at 6 PM. Not noon. I had asked one of them to see about having her turn it down a notch but they never did. Thankfully I wasn't planning on staying long anyways. It took the feel of a nice relaxing Saturday afternoon to let's get this party started. I came to relax, not party so it wasn't really doing it for me. But other than those minor things I really enjoyed everything about this hotel. From the room, the gym, the restaurant, the aesthetic, the location, the customer service, shoot even the smell of the hotel! Haha. Definitely will be coming back with my husband.

Yelp
Booked a Resort Pass to enjoy the beautiful sunshine and pool with friends. The moment we walked into the rooftop pool area it looked like tornado went through. Let's start with what was floating in the pool....chips, shredded cheddar cheese, tobacco chews spit, cups and trash. What else was in there? Ewwww!!!! We didn't even want to stick a toe in the pool. The misters were not working in the cabana, there were towels and glasses and trash everywhere. Do NOT book this hotel or Resort Pass.....just pass! We complained as well and got a "well hopefully next time you come it will be a better experience. Have a nice day!" I'll have a nice day! Just not at the Canopy Hilton Tempe Hotel. At least I got to enjoy time with my friend. That's always something to be grateful for! R U N !!!!!!! Do not be deceived by the fancy pool photos....

Yelp
We randomly found this hotel and we are so glad we did! What a great little place in the ASU area and we will definitely return to this property and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in the area. The day before we arrived, we received a message from David checking in on us before arrival and seeing if we have any questions. The questions we did have, he answered promptly and we were ready for our trip. Upon arrival, we were meant by Brent at the Valet. I'm our 24 hour trip, we met with Brent four times and he was kind each time. He let us know valet is open 5am-1am each day. We were able to text ahead of time to make sure our car was ready when we were down there. **There is no self parking at this hotel; valet is the only option and is $25 a night Once we walked into the hotel, we were greeted by Lulu. She helped us get checked in and told us all about the hotel. She gave us the pool passes needed for our stay and told us about the amenities the hotel offered. Each time that we went in and out of the hotel, Lulu and the other front desk staff greeted us with kindness. We were also told about the nightly drink tasting and the night we were there it was a Pineapple Upside Down cocktail and it was delicious. Everything about the hotel we enjoyed. The hotel rooms are spacious and come with a fridge! The pool was on the roof which was too cool and I can only imagine what it would be like at night. In addition to the restaurant within the hotel and the other restaurant at the pool; there is a juice bar, Starbucks, and cookie shop a hop, skip and jump away! Thank you for everything Canopy team. Wonderful job!!

Yelp
The hotel is nice aesthetically and has nice dining options. However, the customer service disappointed me. I called room service on the phone and they didn't have slippers. The hotel operator apologized and said they would bring socks as an alternative. I was in my room the entire evening and no one brought us socks :( . The staff have all been nice otherwise. The hotel is also located near downtown and the university, and it gets quite loud at night from traffic and people. Parking is also $30 and must be valet.

Yelp
Stayed here for 5 nights for the Ironman Arizona race. Very noisy hotel. Was awakened by racing cars and sirens every night. The first day we arrived we ate at the restaurant. We ordered and before the food came, the girl waiting on us asked us to pay because she needed to leave for another job. We agreed but asked if someone would still bring us the food. They never did - we had to asked and the food had just been sitting in the kitchen so they had to remake it. There is no self parking here and the valet says they are not part of the hotel so we couldn't charge to the room. We used an app and it was very expensive and it kept asking us to tip the valet $7 every time they moved our car a few feet out of the garage. The first day they brought us our car and we drove off and heard something rattling. It was some golf clubs - that were not ours. They had given us someone else's SUV. Same color and make so we didn't notice. The coffee maker in the room was cheap and didn't work and no coffee station in the lobby only for sale at the bar and not open early. The hotel is modern and new but the biggest plus was they gave us a bottle of free water every day. For $300+ a night - we won't be staying at a Canopy by Hilton again.

Yelp
Daniel Whitley and his team at Canopy by Hilton Tempe Downtown were responsive since our first outreach to them before our quick ramp up to a 2024 October business conference. We talked and received enough information to schedule a site visit where we were shown around the facilities with the catering manager, Kierra Winston. The hotel is attractive, eco-friendly and in a great location in Tempe with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. I didn't use a Canopy loaner bike but did hike up "A" Mountain only a few blocks away! The lobby is very attractive with an academic theme since ASU is nearby which is clever but not overbearing. There is a lobby bar-restaurant called Alter Ego and outdoor patio facing University Dr. The 13th floor conference area was open and airy with large windows showing the mountains from windows on both sides. The larger Varsity Ballroom worked great for multiple one on one meetings connecting the attendees for business discussions. Across the hall was a smaller room, The Study, useful for education or discussion with a classroom set up. Both rooms could be closed off if needed for privacy and are next to The Pantry where break snacks are set up. It's a nice kitchen area plus an inviting with comfy chairs and low tables. Elevators and restrooms down the hall plus a nice work out room with a view. Our experience at the actual conference started with a team meeting including heads of all department)s like Housekeeping and AV. Kierra went over the entire agenda (copies had been printed out for our team members) with us again and we made some minor time adjustments with no problem. We had what we needed for our set up and when some random request came up I could contact Kierra as my key person on Kipsu. She would quickly respond or send someone specific right away who could address the issue. Anything that was a bit tricky she handled very professionally and politely as did Daniel, Amy or any of the housekeeping staff that was around. The HVAC and AV teams were ready to help ASAP with anything that came up as well. We had an offsite group activity one night and the Canopy offers a great parking/loading space. It was very safe for the attendees to board on the side near the valet parking area for our chartered bus to access. The 14th floor with the Rooftop Patio, Alibi Bar and pool area was perfect for dining and socializing for our smaller group of about 45 people. It's really a gorgeous space with views of the lights of Phoenix all around after dark. We utilized those spaces for a 2nd night reception, breakfast and one lunch. Lastly, the accommodation for our CEO was the Dean Suite which were especially nice. It offered a spacious living area with seating around a large tv, pool table, conference table and a kitchen area with roomy seating around a bar. Really good-looking space with great views that was useful for team meetings, impromptu business meetings and after-hours gatherings to play pool. There was a bathroom in the main area with the large bedroom, bath and hall closet area separate behind a closed door. Nice bath products plus robes were available and the quality clothes steamer was a nice addition. I would recommend the Canopy for these aesthetic and logistical reasons plus the attentiveness and eagerness of the staff from the top down.

Yelp
Conveniently located near ASU and Gammage, within easy walking distance to Whole Foods and other markets and restaurants. Parking is by valet only. Check-in was fast, our room nice and clean. I do wish the dispenser of sanitizing wipes by the elevator hadn't been empty, though, so I could give things an extra scrub to be sure. We had a room with a king size bed and Peloton. It offered good space for two people. The foyer has an open closet area with hangers and room for suitcases along with a coffee pot nook and a refrigerated drawer that can hold a few bottles and items. A barn door separates that from the bedroom area, with the bed flanked by side tables, a long table beneath the TV, and a plush chair with writing table. The barn door would not stay closed and I had to use a shoe to keep it closed during the night. The bathroom, off the foyer, has a large shower with two shower heads. The room's private Peloton was a reason we chose that particular room, and it was worthwhile. It is easy to set up a free account to utilize the full programs on the bike. The pedals include both the standard clips, if people bring shoes from home, and strap-stirrups to accommodate normal shoes. Our room was on the 9th floor facing a side street, but there was a surprising amount of road noise. Lots of people racing cars during the night. We were staying in mid-June, so I can only imagine the racket would be far far worse during the school year when the clubs and restaurants are more lively.

Yelp
This place is beautiful, but untrustworthy. I booked my one night stay online and got confirmation for a special rate, (confirmation number and everything) When I get charged the next day, I was charged the full amount for the room. When I called, they made me talk to finance who was incredibly rude and unwilling to help. I will not be staying here again and I do not recommend staying here.

Yelp
Had the greatest stay at Canopy for ASU Family Weekend! The building/rooms were beautiful, the food/drinks were delicious, and the staff was excellent. My mom had lost a piece of jewelry upon arriving and thanks to the help of Marc & Joe (who not only helped me search the lobby, but also walked the whole entire block outside of the hotel to make sure it wasn't there) we found it!! Thank you Joe and Marc for your help, kindness, and welcoming spirit. I will definitely be staying here again!

Yelp
Canopy is one of the cutest hotels I've ever stayed at. I absolutely loved the fresh interior design and decor. I had a lot of trouble checking in since the room was booked through my company. I ended up sitting in the lobby for multiple hours until almost midnight while they went back and fourth with my company on how to get the room paid for. I was bummed as I was told the reservation was good to go before my arrival. After traveling all day all you want to do is relax but I had to wait. The staff wasn't necessarily the nicest during that time while I patiently waited. However, the rest of my stay and the good vibes of the hotel made up for it once I got my room!

Yelp
Very decent choice. We stayed during a very busy Family Weekend. The staff took steps to accommodate the crowds. We did enjoy our room and the common spaces. The restaurant, Alter Ego, needs some assistance but it won't deter us from returning.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here two nights. This is an average hotel catering to people connected to Arizona State University. The restaurant, first floor bar and rooftop bar cater to ASU students. We also saw some airline employee hotel guests since Sky Harbor Airport is not far away. We were there to visit friends in Tempe and Chandler. The first room the hotel gave us had two broken bedside lamps. The hotel moved us to a new room on a higher floor, room 1211. The room was sparsely modern. The room had a nice view. It had two queens, one upholstered chair like school desk, and one small desk chair. (I would have preferred two comfortable upholstered chairs, but the room was too small for that.) A shelf in the closet served as a luggage rack. The room had a small fridge. I was happy to see 4 glass glasses, rather than plastic cups. I was happy to see pottery coffee cups rather than paper cups. The coffee supply was well stocked, and there was tea and creamer. Thankfully, the room was quiet for sleeping. All parking at this hotel is valet, so you lose easy access to your car. My husband and I found this to be a big problem, and the reason we probably won't stay here again. When we arrived at the hotel we had to unload everything we might possibly want over the next two days, and haul it up to the hotel room. During our hotel stay my husband and I walked to nearby stores and made a lot of bulky purchases. We would have preferred to take our purchases directly to our car, rather than having to take them back to the hotel room. The hotel's small roof top bar Alibi has both indoor and outdoor seating. Some of the outdoor seating is in area protected by the weather due to a complete ceiling and half walls. The view in this area is great. The remaining outdoor seating is open air next to the pool. While at this bar I had a tasty nice fruity nonalcoholic drink. University students on Spring break were also enjoying the bar. No one was swimming. The downstairs restaurant bar was pretty but had poor service. They might have been understaffed due to Spring Break. This hotel is conveniently located in downtown Tempe within walking distance of some decent restaurants and bars. It is a very urban setting.

Yelp
Wifi was not working, had chosen my room on the app and they gave me a completely different room when i arrived. that room didn't have a working lock so the engineer had to come fix it. key cards weren't working either AND they double charged me for the room. overall had a lot of inconveniences for a ONE night stay.

Yelp
Unfortunately I had a very bad experience at the hotel bar last week and I'm still awaiting my resolution - I arrived at the hotel bar with a friend to have a drink before dinner, after our drink I asked for our bill to be closed and when the bartender returned he told me he accidentally charged my card for someone else's order but that he voided it so I shouldn't worry. He handed me the receipt he said he charged me which was approx $55 but it did not match the amount that was charged on my card which was $97 (this was separate from him charging my actual bill for $35). He then said oh actually this was the order I charged and proceeded showed me the receipt for $97. I was very upset and everyone there including the manager seemed to not really care that they made this mistake. They offered me no confirmation receipt of the voided transactions and promised me it would be returned in 2-3 business days. It's now been over a week and the payments have processed with no refund. I'm now in contact with the hotels accounting department who I *hope* can make this right. I had only been in town for an hour, came for a work trip and thought that hotel was a nice meeting place to see an old friend. It turned into a very sour experience and I may not get my money back. I would highly suggest staying away from this establishment if they cannot resolve these types of matters. I'm sure they also charged the actual customer of that $97 bill, so they made double the money and took advantage of someone all in one sweep. Extremely disappointing, I hope to update this with a better ending. Rafael was the bartender, and I hold him accountable for not paying attention. He kept trying to talk and make jokes but it led him into distraction and causing a lot of inconvenience for me. Please do better. Receipts are for proof.

Yelp
Lobby smells amazing. Rooftop pool has great views with nice cabanas. Standard rooms have a modern design. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast at the Cafe is a great value. Waking distance to Starbucks and Nekter Juice bar (directly downstairs).

Yelp
I travel to Tempe often, and this is the most convenient hotel for me. It's a beautiful hotel, and the rooms are lovely, BUT...there is a COVID epidemic and none of the hotel staff wear masks. I ordered room service breakfast last week, and the server arrived at my door without a mask. The desk clerks do not wear masks nor do the restaurant staff. I know the governor of AZ does not care about COVID , but many of the hotel guests do. At least until the numbers drop further, it would go a long way in making me feel at home. AT least ASK guests if they would like you to mask up???
