Where do I start?! First of all, we came to town for a job and were just popping in somewhere close to our hotel and when I tell you we did NOT expect what we got- I'm not lying. Our server was polite, knowledgeable and his recommendations were on point! My only regret is not getting his name for this review. My husband ordered the Molcajete and I got the Tequila Pollo after he suggested, and neither dish disappointed. The flavor was everything (I tried my husband's also 🤤) and the serving sizes! Y'all! If I would not have stuffed myself there, I'd have two meals from one dish. Instead I combined our two meals and got one plate- still plenty left. We will definitely be back. I thought there was a bell to ring for the chef, but I didn't see it. If you go and see the bell there RING IT FOR ME! If we come back to this area, we are definitely eating here again.

Amazing food and amazing service! I visited a second time today and enjoyed the lunch buffet. Everything was fresh, and there was so much variety. It made some of the other buffets I've been to look poor. The atmosphere is a vibe in and of itself, and the aesthetics are beautiful. This would be a good place for a date night, family night or just a night out with a group of friends :)

The Saturday buffet at lunchtime is absolutely amazing. (There is a buffet during the week but I do not know if the same items are on the buffet on Monday-Fri). All you can eat. Great flavorful food. So many choices. Fresh guacamole. You can build your own nachos or make a taco salad. Ribs. Brisket. Fajitas. Enchiladas- several types. Rellenos. Bean burritos. Quesadillas. Tortillas. Several types of salsa. Queso. Street corn. Vegetables. Guisado. Roasted jalapeños with onions. Desserts- ice cream- 4 flavors, cheesecake, flan, fresh fruit, yogurt. Just so much to list. All for 15.99. The price for ice tea is ridiculous though- $3.90 a glass. Next time, we will order water. They have a full bar. Great service. Pretty decor. Restaurant is closed on Sundays.

Probably the worst fajitas I have ever had. Chicken was in very thin stripes, and tough as a leather and no flavor. First fajitas I've ever had that didn't come with pico, sour cream, guacamole, cheese or lettuce.

This place is all around great. Chef(s) take a lot of pride and this is apparent when the food comes hits the table. After a taste you'll understand. Portions, seasoning, flavor, and service are next level. I had the Molcajete. Highly recommend.

Such a great spot, really cool mix of modern and traditional vibes. The food was amazing! The carne asada was super juicy, full of flavor, and just had that homemade taste that hits different. Honestly, one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Definitely coming back.

We're having to stay in Tupelo for a few days and this restaurant was near our hotel. Excellent service and our food came so quickly. Atmosphere was more upscale than most Mexican restaurants. The food was excellent and they gave us samples of different salsas.

The food was delicious and Amazing. The service was okay could have been better but I think it was Because of it being St Patrick day. The Ambience was Outstanding I Absolutely loved the wall art And the Mosaic sofa

While traveling on a recent work trip we decided to stop for a late lunch. Craving some Mexican food and this option had the best reviews. For good reasons it turned out. Even though it was towards the end of the lunch rush the dining area was surprisingly clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful answering our questions. My dish had the best poblano sauce I've ever tasted. Portion size was plentiful and reasonably priced.

Bad Attitudes make everything bad. Doesn't matter about food or cleanliness. Management and staff need to be schooled on customer service 1star was being nice . Sad when greed and malice are what they worry about instead of understanding and customer loyalty.

Decent enough. In line with most of the Mexican establishments in the area. Very clean, very fresh. I would return.

Great food and ambiance. Happy we tried it. I got the shrimp tacos which were great. My sister got the street tacos and she enjoyed those as well.

Fun atmosphere with lots of open space and tables! Keto tacos were delicious! Service was amazing! Gabriel took care of us, checked in and made great recommendations! When he says the goodbye margarita is as big as a basketball he is not exaggerating! If I could give 10 stars I would.

Most Mexican restaurants are about the same but this one is a step above the others. The restaurant itself is very clean and well maintained. They have a small bar, but many tables around for guests. 5-6 beers on draft at a great price. The food was spectacular, everything came out quickly and the vegetables were fresh. The chicken was well seasoned and the food portions were large. I thought that everything was priced fair for the quality and amounts of food you get. Service was great as well. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for Mexican cuisine.

Service is excellent. Great menu selection that you are not able to get at other mexican restaurants. One of if not the best mexican restaurant I've been to i would definitely recommend it!.

Really great Mexican food. We had all of the dips and they were all very good. The guacamole was very fresh and extra thick. I would definitely get this again. The queso con carne was also very good. We all had different variations on the street tacos which every enjoyed. The barbacoa tacos were fantastic. The staff was attentive and the food came out quick. They also have a self serve ice cream and churro bar for dessert. Definitely a great spot to grab some authentic Mexican food.

The food was fresh and flavorful. The restaurant was clean and beautiful. The staff members were very friendly. Our kids loved it there and asked if we could go back!

Food was awesome! Street tacos best I've found in Tupelo area! Had a Mojito and it was delicious! ( way too expensive for the drink though 10.99! With food can't afford more than one! Very stingy with the salsa and chips! Waitress was very nice and food was delivered pretty quickly! Will go back for food, but as much as I enjoyed the Mojito it may be out if my price range with a meal!

I have friends who live in Oaxaca, in Mexico. Cantina Del Sol is EXACTLY like a restaurant in Oaxaca, Guanajuato, San Miguel De Allende or Mexico City. The restaurant, staff, food etc is superb! This is NOT Tex-Mex! This is excellent TRUE Mexican cuisine! Everything is absolutely perfect! Please do yourself a huge favor & discover what true Mexican food & hospitality really is! It's NOT what we are most familiar with in Mississippi! It's Cantina Del Sol's experience! Bravo!!!!!

We are very selective when it comes to choosing Mexican food, as the greater majority of Mexican food restaurants cater to Americans with no taste buds and a penchant for Bud light. This place will WOW you! The food is authentic, tasty, and well presented. The pricing is VERY FAIR. The potions are generous, and the staff is very friendly. No 'speedy gonzales' on the menu . In fact, the menu is just the right size. And the choices are unique and cooked masterfully. The atmosphere is beautifully decorated and unique. It is truely an experience from the moment you walk through the door. If we lived in Tupelo, this would be our go to place!

I'll admit - I'm having difficulty with reviewing this restaurant. I think I've become a snob with cheap Mexican food, that Cantina Del Sol was just too fancy for me. Here we go. Clean, colorful and modern - we immediately loved the vibe when we were arrived. We were greeted and quickly seated by friendly staff. Cantina wins major points with their complimentary seasoned tortilla chips and a trio of salsas (each person gets their own) that were delicious. My husband ordered the barbacoa tacos that looked delicious with fresh onion, cilantro, cheese and salsas on the side - he just said the beef needed more seasoning. I had the chicken chimichanga. The refried beans were a bit different, but ok. Rice was fine but could have used more flavor. And the chicken in my chimichanga definitely could have used more flavor. Am I too used to our local $7 Mexican that's deliciously flavorful and served before you have a chance to finish a handful of chips? Maybe so. Ha!

In a word - FABULOUS!!! Their food is so spot on delicious and authentic! Not only are the items you order off the menu spot on, but wow can they rock a buffet!!! Cantina Del Sol is our go to place in Tupelo! This is by no means your typical Tex-Mex joint!!! The restaurant is clean and so beautifully decorated. Staff greets you the moment you walk in and are super friendly and quick. We've been there several times (only now remembering to do my review). You simply can't go wrong ordering any of their street tacos with fresh onion, cilantro, cheese and salsas on the side (boyfriends fav). He recommends the barbacoa, el pasture and chorizo. My favorite - the carnitas. Everything is so full of flavor and the carnitas are so moist! Love the seasoned chips and assorted salsas. I'm not sure what they put in their refried beans but they are delightful! Do yourself a favor and go for the lunch buffet to get a good sampling of what they have to offer, then go back for dinner and zero in on your favorites!!!

We took our exuberant tot here for lunch. It's a good sign when it's packed at 1130 on a random Tuesday. I'm usually anti buffet, but this one was fantastic, frequently restocked, and quite delicious. Tons of options. Next time all three of us will just get the buffet. The chiles rellenos were my fave from the buffet. We will be back next time we visit Tupelo.

I sit at the bar, and the bar tender is great. Always friendly and ready to serve. Drinks are outstanding, and they have a great beer selection. Chips are fresh, as is the salsa. I always get the chicken fajitas, which again are great and plentiful.

Fresh food! Great guacamole! I had the tequila chicken! It's my new favorite dish! My husband had the steak fajitas (cooked medium) and he said they were very good! Nice staff too!

Food was hands down AMAZING!! We came in late, not from the area but looking for good Mexican grub. We had just left a tournament and heading back home after a 2 hour drive with another 1.5 hours left to go. They waiters seated us quickly and the 5 of us got down to business. The food was too notch. This is a modern, bit more upscale but affordable Mexicans restaurant. The decor was so cute and the staff were quick and attentive. We all got different meals. The quest and salsas variety were top notch. The fajitas were hands down some of the best. Authentic Mexican food and affordable. If we are ever back in the area, we will absolutely be stopping back in!! You can't go wrong here!!! We give this place a 20 out of 20!! Thank you guys!! I hope this place stays busy and successful! Don't walk, run here for gr at food and service. Ambiance was excellent!!

I came again for the first time in a few months last night, and I was thoroughly disappointed. It was a steady Thursday night where the crowd was moving out by the time my friend and I came in. Our server was not great by any means necessary. It took her a bit to fully get us situated with chips, salsa, queso, and our drinks. After we got our food (which was disappointing in of itself) she checked up on us once and said she would get me a refill before disappearing for half an hour. The restaurant was cleared out, she didn't have any customers besides my table in her area, yet she was nowhere to be seen. Definitely the worst experience I've had at this place, and it'll take me a while to be back.

We ate here this evening after traveling all day. Excellent food and service and the place is immaculate. The servers are helpful and very nice. The food is presented beautifully. I would definitely eat here again.

Cantina Del Sol is the best Mexican restaurant I've eaten at in over 20 years. The food and service are top notch and this restaurant is the secret crown jewel of Tupelo, MS. You absolutely must eat here. Everything is authentic Mexican made from scratch cooking. Every bite is delicious. Every dish is prepared with the highest quality ingredients. The only restaurant that even comes close to Cantina Del Sol in food quality is Joe T. Garcias in Ft Worth, Texas. And if you know about Joe T's, Cantina Del Sol is literally THAT good.

This was my first time here and it was Cinco de Mayo! Our waiter hand made our guacamole and it was delicious! He also recommended drinks and even saved us a few bucks on happy hour choice! The chicken fajitas were seasoned well and the street tacos were amazing! Definitely a place to return to!

The chips came to the table with a trio of salsa!! The sweet tea was spot on! The linen napkin was a nice touch! I didn't want to get it dirty! The mahi-mahi with mango salsa was moist yet flaky. The fresh vegetables were firm, (firm enough to withstand being reheated when I eat the leftovers later). The salad was simply iceberg lettuce with a few toppings and certainly wasn't the highlight of the meal, but it added variety on the plate. There was white rice under the fish, plus a cup of seasoned rice beside that. My server was helpful and informative, and was always there exactly when I needed him. I had a delightful experience!

This is our "go to" Mexican restaurant. Atmosphere is great and so is the service. It's always delicious!

We love the carnitas street tacos. The appetizer sampler is also good. Service was excellent.

This was our first time trying this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The drinks are potent and the portions are satisfying. The restaurant environment is new but very well put together and comfortable setting. The serving dishes are so cute and appropriate for the setting. The staff were nice and attentive to our needs. We will definitely try again.

My husband and I were extremely impressed with this restaurant. We have eaten at numerous Mexican restaurants from one end of the cost to the next. It was very packed and we were seated immediately, drinks and dip were served within minutes, and our entrees were ready in less than ten minutes. Staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was wonderful nd the price was reasonable. We will definitely be back!!

Wonderful place. The table service was perfect, our waiter Luis made the meal even better. Having moved here from the left side of the country, we've had a hard time finding excellent Mexican cuisine. This place cured that problem. Starting with the SEASONED chips and THREE different styles of salsa they serve when you are seated to the hot, fresh and tasty food offered, you can't go wrong here. They do offer an all you can eat lunchtime buffet until 2:00PM, it's better than okay and worth the money but, again, the table served food is superior. Bring your family or a date, they'll impress everyone.

Wonderful street tacos. Delicious street corn. Polomas are spot on. And our waitress was the cutest and sweetest!!

My favorite dish, nice spicy dish excellent steak, the best I've ever had anywhere, hands down!! Nice clean restaurant, friendly atmosphere and great hostesses!! Fast service, if you are into margaritas this is your place!! Sweet tea is also excellent!!

Passing through to Daytona bike week stopped and ate dinner. Ordered the street tacos steak and chicken. We had some friends with us who ordered burrito it was huge. We all loved the food. We will be back again when passing through. Excellent service

Absolutely loved our meal. The food was wonderful, the rice was surprisingly perfect. Everyone bragged how the cilantro-line rice surprised them how good it was.

Absolutely delicious! I love the salsa trio you get as soon as you sit down, and everything I've tried so far has been amazing! I usually take pictures, but we were so caught up in the fun atmosphere and smell of the food that I forgot to! I highly recommend the taco appetizer and the duck mole entree.

Before we decided on Cantina Del Sol for the evening, I couldn't find any info about drinks at this newer (right before lockdown?) restaurant in Tupelo. I'm posting a photo of their drinks menu. (We had to ask for it). The tequila flights look interesting, but not for us. Full bar. Limited wine choices I had a nice glass of Malbec with my Pato de Mole, duck with chocolate sauce. SO GOOD!!! Hubbie had pork tacos. Our waitress was adorable, knowledgeable and checked in on us exactly enough. We had the dessert - kind of like a tropical creme brûlée. It was huge and really yummy. We will be back!

This place is awesome. A little different than what we have around home. The service was good and the food was great. The setting was nice.

Out of every Mexican restaurant I've been to, this is top 2. Steak was very high quality and the tall beers were great.

Cantina Del Sol was recommended by the hotel staff at the Best Western Plus next door. We were craving Mexican, but we didn't expect the BEST Mexican food we've ever had ! The steak fajitas were wonderful, my wife had the rice bowl. Both awesome! Our server, Javier, was friendly, and willing to interact with us. The atmosphere looked up-scale, not just a redone Hardee's. I would be a regular here if we lived closer! I can't say enough good about Cantina Del Sol!

The best thing about this restaurant is the appearance. Areas are very attractive and stylish. The service was adequate although our server seemed rushed and somewhat preoccupied which is odd because it wasn't at all busy. ( a Monday night) . The food was the real problem. My wife had a chicken quesadilla which was smothered in a very bland cheese sauce. She indicated that the chicken inside did not have any discernible flavor at all and was accompanied by a drab, tasteless, very pale yellow rice. I made the huge mistake of ordering the steak fajitas. The helping of steak was generous. Too bad it wasn't eatable! The meat cut in wide strips was so tough & sinewy that I could not chew it. The couple pieces I attempted to eat had zero flavor at all. Really the worst piece of meat I have ever been served. It was accompanied by a few slices of grilled peppers and a little fried onion as well as the aforementioned bland tasteless rice. Bland seems to be the culinary theme of this establishment as the so called Mexican Street corn was totally without flavor other than that of frozen corn . A bit of cheese was sprinkled on top with ( finally!) a tiny bit of chili powder & a couple teeny bits of jalapeño. There wasn't even a hint of lime & it appeared they used some kind of milk ( which was so thin it collected in the bottom of the bowl) instead of Mexican style mayo. The prices are a little on the high side but I was fine with that based on the attractiveness of the restaurant; until the food arrived. How this place ever got 4 stars from anyone is a real mystery! I can only assume that the food has been blended down to suit your average white Mississippian but cutting back on heat does not require abandoning flavor all together. We've been to dozen & dozens of Mexican restaurants all over the country and have never experienced anything even close to this total lack of flavor. If you are on a bland diet for medical reasons this is your place. If not, go someplace else.

Fast, friendly service. The waiter was very knowledgeable about all menu items and patiently answered all questions. The food is amazing and fresh. It will be a weekly stop.

Service was excellent. Good atmosphere. Food is very good and freshly prepared. Menu needs a little help in explaining what the food actually is...if you are not fluent in Spanish. Entrance into parking lot off main thoroughfare is non exsistant.. I drove around the restaurant twice before getting in the parking lot.

My husband and I ate the lunch buffet at Cantina Del Sol 2 days ago on a Friday. The food was fresh and fantastic. It was like a little flavor party in our mouths. Our waiter was very friendly and on top of things. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back.
