Yelp
It's one of my favorite Mexican restaurants to dine in. I have been here several times over the past two years. My guy and I are return customers. Here's why...
What we've tried:
1. Chips & Salsa, it's a must for us. Use to be free, but it's a $4 charge now. Chips are made in-house, fresh, crispy, and hint of salt. The salsa is not chunky, spicy puree. They offer red & green.
2. Guacamole is made table side, cost is $20, tasty and shareable.
3. Try the tacos, you can't go wrong, we've had the pastor, pork belly, carne asada, and polo.
4. Trio enchiladas, chicken (shredded) with tomatillo sauce. You get three enchiladas served with rice and beans. Try it, you will thank me later. I guarantee.
5. Camarones Al Ajillo, if you like shrimp, you must try. This is fresh prawns served in a butter garlic wine sauce over white rice. B-A-B-Y, your taste buds will dance.
Pros
1. Great ambiance and location. Restaurant is nestled in Beverly Hills "Restaurant Row," as I refer to that particular area. During the Christmas season It's decorated beautifully with some great photo ops.
2. Inside, you have trees! Yes, trees (only 2), bringing the outdoors inside. I love it!
3. There is an outdoor patio area and outdoor sidewalk seating for those warm summer nights.
4. Friendly staff. Attentive. Waiters/Waitresses know the menu and are able to make confident recommendations and/or answer questions.
5. Delicious food, yes sir/ma'am, the food is A-M-A-Z-I-NG!!!
6. Nice bar area.
7. Versatile music selection, played at the right volume, you can still have a conversation with others at your table.
8. Restrooms are clean. Located upstairs.
9. TVs inside. Some seatings will have an obstructed view.
Cons
I honestly don't have a con. I enjoy the food, vibe, and receive consistent, great service and food. All around, Cantina Frida is a win for me.
This restaurant has versatility. Date Night. Girls Nite. Guys Night. Family Night. Business Lunch. Solo Venture.
Dress up or down. Heels or sneakers. Cantina Frida is perfect to fit your requests, style, and/or vibe. Let's talk price. It will vary depending on what you order, alcoholic beverages, etc. Expect to spend about $80 - $100 for two people, including an appetizer.
Parking - nearby lots, under $10. Elevators inside lots can take you to the surface street. In any direction, the restaurant is half a block to a full block walking distance. I don't have an address for the parking lots.
Here's my disclaimer...I'm a CA native, and I have been to a few states in Mexico; I can't distinguish from "authentic" Mexican food and CA Mexican food. I make that statement because I frequently hear how Mexican food in CA isn't authentic. For me, I consider Cantina Frida very good food (smile).
