This was my 2nd time coming here with family hoping it was better. Not at all. I had the crunchy tacos with rice and beans. Those are the hard shells you get at the store, not freshly made or heated. Filled with cheddar cheese (not mexican cheese), meat and lettuce. No salsa on the table or brought out. The meat filling was bland. Not a fan of the rice and beans. Could have used sour cream with the tacos to perk them up. My friend had the black bean quesadilla. The beans weren't drained leaving a soaking mess not easy to pick up and falling apart. My husband had a burrito and found it missing flavor, seasoning. None of us finished our meal. The pictures were taken when served. To start with they don't serve chops and salsa when seated. They use too. There is a sign at the table stating so and how much unless you purchase quest dips. What if your there order dinner? Nope

Service was very good, they were kind, fast and informative Food was very good, very very close to authentic Mexican food which is hard to find Beans were great, we loved the carnitas tacos, the shrimps and the dessert.

Had some dinner with a friend who lives in the Cosmopolitan near by and the entire experience was great. From the welcoming hostess to the seating to the service and of course the food, it was top-tier dining. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Free parking in the garage and a small walk to the entrance.

Wow oh wow, did we enjoy the food here. The chimichanga was out of this world. I ordered a chicken one. My husband loved what he ordered too. This has to be one of the best chimichangas I’ve had in Virginia Beach. The spicy margaritas were also on point! We will be back.

Came in tonight for the first time and it was fantastic! We had reservations. Everyone was very friendly from the beginning! Great experience. Our server was fantastic! I think her name was lilly. She was awesome!!! Got the table side guac which was delicious. We both ordered tacos. I got the carne tacos and the flavors were spot on! You got a taste of everything throughout the bite! * Chefs kiss* overall great experience great food ! Will def be coming back!

I just walked in and was able to sit at the bar. I chose the bar for faster service as I was short on time. However, that was an unfortunate detriment. Took almost 10 mins to be greeted by one of two bartenders. Bar half full. Once I got my drink order, it took another 15 mins before I was checked on again for food. Glass was empty. One was engaged to only the other side while the bar tender helping me was running back and forth to the kitchen (which is on the other side of the restaurant) to deliver food to others at the bar. Since time was running, I chose something easy like the Nachos. To my surprise, they took about 25 mins to reach me and the restaurant was about half full. Once the tacos came out, I was surprised again to not receive nachos, but 9 very small tortillas with one piece of meat and a dash of herb. All toppings in the center. First time I had to construct my Nachos for $20. Thankfully, the food was okay. Overcooked steak, but everything else was good (picture provided). Too much time for the money. With this atmosphere, this place has potential to be one of THE hottest spots in the area, but management needs to step it up. A lot.

Very Good Modern Mexican! We were greeted cheerfully at the door and taken directly to a table with a street view. Our server, Angie P was prompt, courteous, and very knowledgeable of the menu. She made several great recommendations. The salsa is some of the best that I’ve ever had. The chips are served warm and fresh. I ordered off of the vegetarian menu and had the Impossible Bowl. Nice flavor and very good portion. We finished the meal with Mexican Apple Pie. AMAZING! It sizzles, it steams, it smells delicious. You have to try it. I applaud Cantina Laredo for having a separate vegetarian menu. Many times when I eat in a Mexican restaurant, I’m stuck with vegetable fajitas or I have to ask them to alter the dish.

I'm from Cali--I stamp it. Ron is the bartender and he got pretty teeth. Kera is an exceptional manager. The food is great. 5/5.

Yelp
I celebrated a special occasion at this restaurant and made a reservation a few days before. The person I spoke to over the phone was very nice. On the day of celebration, the staff was super accommodating and we had plenty of space. The food was good, I had tacos and table side guacamole. I would have appreciated being able to see the guacamole being prepared but something on the cart was blocking the view. Not a big deal. The drinks were slow coming out but everyone enjoyed their drinks. I will return as I appreciated the good customer service and the open space. The food was also delicious.

Yelp
Finally trying Cantina Laredo after seeing it above my Pottery Barn store for years! Restaurant Week 2025 is what brought us in the door - but we ended up not ordering from that menu bc what we wanted was much cheaper. The inside is very nice and open and spacious - very generous spacing between tables to the point that the very large 20+ person birthday table near us with our baby wasn't even an issue. The patio is also nice and is a wrap-around patio though it was winter so not open when we were dining. The menu is large and has a ton of items on it and their featured entrees have some inventive options to try like their steak wrapped and shrimp stuffed poblano pepper served on a bed of fried corn. YUM. Didn't try it - but it sure does sound yummy! My husband went with a standard steak burrito, we tried a small side of guacamole which was very good, their complimentary salsa and white sauce with chips was yummy, really liked the salsa. I ordered enchiladas and they have several kinds of those with white sauce, mole sauce, tomato sauce, etc. I really wanted to try some dessert so first we went with the Mango Tres Leches cake. I HATED it. Something about it did not sit right with me. One bite and I was out hard. So we swapped that for the brownie and the presentation of that was wonderful - it comes out in pieces with a hot plate and the brownie is put onto that with sizzling bourbon butter poured on top and topped with a generous portion of ice cream. The brownie looks delish and is thick (like 5 inches thick) but it didn't really taste like brownie - more like cake. They were both kind'of disappointing. Everything was really good and the service was spectacular. We'll be back for sure.

Yelp
I will NOT be returning after my experience here last night! Went here Saturday night around 8/8:30 pm for dinner. When we arrived, we were told we couldn't sit outside on the terrace because all of the seats were taken so we said it was fine we'll sit inside. 5 mins later we were told that a table opened up on the terrace so all in all, everything was going fine up to this point. Once we were seated, though, we literally sat and never were serviced by a waiter for 25-30 mins! Let's make note though, that the inside of the restaurant was basically empty! There weren't many people inside dining at all. So, after this whole time of waiting like 30 mins, a table of people came and sat behind us on the terrace and were immediately served chips and salsa and water once they sat down. Like, are you serious!? It wasn't until then a waitress came over, FINALLY, just to ask us "have you all be served?" We informed her we hadn't yet and in response, she disappeared for another 10 mins. We then went ahead and decided to just go ahead and leave because there was absolutely NO WAY I was going to trust eating their food now or even paying for anything after such treatment. Of course though right when we got up to leave, the waitress came back over to ask what we wanted. This was absolutely ridiculous, a waste of time, and not cool at all. I won't be returning, it's not worth it and I'm writing this review to let others know of the weird behavior you might also possibly experience if you go to this restaurant.

Yelp
Sat at a high top in bar area and service was pretty good. The chips and salsa were okay, but not the kind where you finish it and want more. The chicken enchiladas was pretty bland and chicken didn't seem very seasoned. I liked that they add tortilla strips on top. The prickly pear mojito was very tasty. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is nice and has a good vibe. Maybe I didn't get the right dish, but wasn't so impressed with the food.

Yelp
I reserved the private dining room for 12 executives from our company two weeks in advance. The reservation was confirmed verbally and again by text on the day of the event, so I expected everything to be ready when we arrived. Instead, I was greeted by an aggressive and rude manager who demanded a $250 charge for the room -- something that was never mentioned during booking or in any communication I received. It was an uncomfortable and embarrassing start to what was supposed to be a professional dinner. After a tense back-and-forth, we were finally seated, but only after the staff rearranged the space to actually fit our group. The restaurant was less than half full, yet service was painfully slow -- it took ages just to get drinks. The food was mediocre and definitely overpriced for the quality and experience. The only positive note was our server, who was kind, attentive, and did her best to smooth things over. Unfortunately, the poor management and lack of organization completely overshadowed the evening. I won't be returning and will make sure our company chooses a different venue in the future.

Yelp
Visited Cantina Laredo with my brother during happy hour. We sat by the bar, which was not too busy, despite the price friendly happy hour appetizers, and the relaxing yet upbeat atmosphere. The bartender was attentive and provided helpful information and suggestions as we asked questions about the menu and as I asked questions about ingredients and my wheat/gluten allergy. The guacamole had great texture and, im my opinion, had a the correct proportion of tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime. It was lacking a little salt, so I tried to make up for that with the tortilla chips. The chile con queso was well spiced and very tasty! I asked for the queso fresco on the side. It was a nice addition when I wanted to add it to my chip. The ceviche was extremely delicious! You have to really like citrus flavors and green olives as it is heavy on this taste profile. We also tasted the pescado tacos which were a big hit! I ordered a classic margarita which was a little on the sweet side for me.

Yelp
I have visited Cantina Laredo several times within the past 3 years. I never had any negative feedback until yesterday. The place itself is always clean and inviting , yesterday was an off day it wasn't busy but the service was slow and some mistakes were made. The waitress was very friendly but was kind of off , we place our drink orders and I don't drink alcohol so I asked if there was any way to make a virgin coconut mojito she did go check came back and said yes, we were ready to place our appetizer order and she was just walking back and forth finally took the appetizer order. We ordered the queso and Guacamole combo and after waiting for a bit she only bought out the queso we had to remind her and even the guacamole took a while , then I saw the bartender looking for her and I overheard her saying there was no coconut for the mojito mind you it was almost 10-15 minutes after the fact. The waitress was right by my table instead of brining it to my attention she walked back to the other end of the restaurant and maybe five minutes later returned to let me know. At that moment I was offered a mango mojito which I must say was absolutely delicious 10/10. We placed out order my grandson ordered the steak burrito and they should have named it the bean burrito because it was a few pieces of steak and over powered by the beans 3/10, his dorm roommate ordered the steak fajitas and it was very bland 5/10, I ordered the three combo fajitas bacon wrapped shrimp you could not taste the shrimp at all it was overpowered by the shrimp , the. Chicken and Steak had absolutely no flavor at all bland 100%. 3/10, I must say the highlight of the night was the queso it was amazing 10/10, Mind you it really must of been a off day or a change with the chef because we never had this issue with this establishment ever. Will I be back I think I will since this was my first negative experience in a few years.

Yelp
I feel like it's gone downhill since the last time I was here. I was there on a Tuesday night and our server was not friendly at all. Never smiled. Did the bare minimum. Did not engage. My friends got there before I did and ordered the tuna tacos and they are still good. I would go for those again. I ordered the nachos and my friends got the fajitas. My nachos were not your typical nachos. If you want "traditional" nachos then these are not it. They were all individual chips with everything on every chip. 8 chips to be exact. It definitely was not outstanding flavor. I ate the steak off each one and left the rest. The meat on the fajitas was good and it was tender but the amount of onions that came with the dish was A LOT! Over priced, okay food....probably would not recommend and wouldn't go back.

Yelp
As soon as you enter you will be greeted with smiles and a positive attitude by your hostesses whom will do their best to find you the best table for your party so that you can relax and enjoy your time here. With indoor seating, patio seating, private room seating, balcony seating with a view of the center of Town-center and its well known fountain, and of course plenty of Bar seating !!! My favorite seating area (BAR) to began your adventure. Freshly made Guacamole, Vegan friendly, and many delicious food choices for your pleasure for Appetizers, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, or just endless Chips and Salsa while you enjoy your drinks. Always a great time here at Cantina Laredo, with some amazing bartenders such as Givanna, Marisela, Kera, Ellis, to name a few, but you can not forget their amazing servers whom are always working hard and working together to give you the best possible service. With various beers on tap such as Pacifico, Modelo Especial, Modelo Negra, Dos XX Amber, and others which change from time to time so do ask your bartender or server. Other imported beers are Tecate, Heineken, Heineken 00, Pacifico, Dos XX Lager, Corona Extra, Corona Premier, Corona Light, Modelo Negra, and various Hard Seltzers. And of course the many drinks to be made with the many choices of TEQUILAS !!!! But if Tequila is not your choice, their is still more liquor options as well as Wine (Vino). With Happy Hour specials daily and now with more activities and events being planned for their customers you are most definitely going to have a great time !!!!

Yelp
Came here to eat with friends after just arriving in town. Located in the Town Center of Virginia Beach on the second floor it is perched above the shoppers and area stores providing a nice view from the windows. The food was pretty good for east coast Mexican food but the server didn't have good sense. Our chips and salsa and guacamole were delivered to the table and the chips looked like they'd been placed in a bag and stepped on until there was nary a chip over the size of a nickel. We had to ask for full sized chips on her next visit to the table and were treated to an incredulous look of wow...! These people are needy. In any case the food was decent as were the drinks. We didn't stay long as we hardly ever saw our server which is the main reason for the reduced stars and why we left to grab more drinks elsewhere.

Kristen T.

Yelp
We were really suprised tonight that tortillas and salsa are not free. Most places are. The waitress never said anything about them and bought our drinks. We later stopped her and said we would like some. She forgot and we had to remind her. She didn't get them out until after our food arrived. We finished our meal and she came by and took away our chips and Salsa without asking and then charged us for them. The waitress should have asked if we wanted that when she took our drink order and let us know they are extra. Most people expect they are free and come with the drinks .Would have been nice to have them while we were taking and waiting for our meal. But ultimately with the price of the food, they should come free.

Yelp
I've wanted to try Cantina Laredo since they opened so while celebrating my birthday last month, I decided to stop in and treat myself to lunch on a Friday around 1pm. Since the restaurant was pretty empty, I was able to be seated right away which I was happy about because I was starving. The restaurant was very modern and chic, I loved the vibes. The chips and salsa were brought out by the server right away and I ordered a Strawberry Margarita and the Chicken Enchiladas. I actually enjoyed the chips and salsa. One was mild and the other was spicy, the spicy was my favorite. The food actually came out very quickly and let me tell you, the chicken enchiladas were a 10/10! Absolutely delicious! The rice and beans were just as good and the drink was very enjoyable. I highly recommend checking this restaurant out. The drinks were very good and the enchiladas were some of the best I'd had in a very long time. I will be returning ASAP!

Yelp
Upon driving around my family found this place out of so many others in VB Town Center. When we got to the hosts stand we were seated in the bar area, where the host said that we would love the view and it did not disappoint. As soon as you are sat you receive chips and salsa. Drinks were really good and strong. The menu was large and had a lot of options.

Yelp
Pretty Plate, Buttdoosie Mahi, and Beans That Gave Up on Life I dined at Cantina Laredo in Virginia Beach Town Center, where I ordered the mahi-mahi tacos. They arrived looking pretty enough to be on a magazine cover--but the second they hit the table, the smell hit harder than the presentation ever could. And not in a good way. I'm talking straight Buttdoosie™--the kind of foul fish funk that makes you question if the ocean is mad at you. The side of beans? Honestly, I'm not even sure they were cooked. They tasted like someone pulled them out of the dirt, tossed them in a pot of water, and said, "Good enough." No spices. No salt. No soul. I've had more flavor in a boiled napkin. My friend ordered the salmon salad with no cheese, and it came completely smothered in cheese like we'd ordered it from a dairy farm. I spent so long waiting for the waiter to come back so I could tell them about the biologically suspicious fish tacos, that I just gave up and ate George's salad instead. This place charges like it's elevated cuisine, but what I got was a bougie buttdoosie plate with beans that had no business being on a menu. If you're going to serve fish, don't let it marinate in sadness first. Ordered: Mahi-Mahi Tacos Smell: Straight Buttdoosie--like the fish was mad at me Beans: Undercooked. Unseasoned. Unapologetic. Friend's Salmon Salad: Asked for no cheese. Got a dairy explosion. Waiter: Vanished like seasoning in those beans. Final Move: Gave up and ate George's salad. Verdict: Pretty plating doesn't mean edible food. If your tacos smell like they're plotting revenge, send them back. Tiny Rachel has spoken.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for some late night eats (well desserts). We had already had full meal elsewhere but was looking to have some sweets and continue the conversation and company. First off, the service is 10 x 5-stars! It wasn't really too close to closing time, but we were probably within one hour and they greeted us and seated us with a welcoming manner. Our server was absolutely fantastic, and wish I remembered her name, but she was nice, kind, funny and just a "good people" vibe all around! I love that Cantina Laredo is located on the second floor and gives you that elevated vibe overlooking the streets of Town Center below. Decor is chic with natural tones. The bar is beautiful and love those geometric tiles! We were seated on the outdoor patio, by choice and it was a really nice temp out and it was really pleasant out there. It's not a gib My other friend had arrived later to our feast at the previous place, so she ordered chicken fajitas. The sizzle of the hot pan always gets the tastes buds worked up! It looked great and she enjoyed it. Took most of it home though since fajitas is always a big portion anywhere you go! Upon our server's recommendation, we got the Mexican Apple Pie and Tres Chocolate Brownie. They come to the table and are served on hot pans like the fajitas. They pour the sauce on the hot pan at the table so you see all the sizzling action and bubblies. It's definitely a great idea to serve them this way, as people definitely eat with their eyes, I know I do! However, I think the quality of the desserts were just ok, but I enjoyed the experience and show! I'll have to come in for an actual meal next time. I definitely love the vibe and service is top notch! She didn't make us feel rushed for coming in later in the night. Stay safe, Friends!

Yelp
Sat at bar high tables where the live music was so loud you could barely talk to the person next to you. Shared tapas and a marg flight. Veggie quesadillas were the best out of all the tapas we tried. Never had a quesadilla with asparagus pieces but it added a pleasant crunch to the dish. The ceviche was ok ... very strong green olive and roasted red pepper flavor that took away from a classic lime and salt ceviche. The ahi tuna tacos were cutely plated but bland to taste so make sure you add the pickled onion garnish to them! Apple pie was the highlight when they came to the table and poured a sauce that made it sizzle and smoke at table side. Service was good. Was told 40 min wait when it was really 15 min. Overall good food but I'd rather get twice the amount of food at a dive Mexican joint for the price we paid here.

Yelp
Mexican bar on the second floor with a really pretty view of downtown. They have a large bar with large windows and lots of light coming through. We just sat at the bar for a drink. You get free chips and salsa even if you are just getting drinks. We didn't get any food but the food looked good. I would come back to try!

Yelp
Best food and drink experience I've ever had at this restaurant. Service was quick and our server was very knowledgeable/kind. 4/5 - Guac was huge - this could feed 3-4 people. I would recommend more lime juice and onion. 5/5 - Passionfruit Piña colada was HANDS DOWN the best mixed drink I've had. I have my fair share of beverages... this one takes the cake. I dream about this creamy stupendously concocted blend of juices and rum. Seriously, WOW! 3/5 - Tuna tacos are tiny and fresh... so fresh they were great. I don't want these crispy shells to be laid on top of guac? It made the shells weird and soggy... no thank you. From and texture and taste perspective the shells were not it. Great small plate if not placed in guac though... wish there was even some small thing added to the tuna to make it just not only tuna and a shell on guac. We will be back especially for the guac and passion fruit piña!!!! Plenty of other things to try on the menu. We also loved sitting outside looking at town center, great ambiance!

Kermit S.

Yelp
Service was horrible and completely ruined lunch. The server brought the wrong items to everyone at the table and I ordered something that was supposed to be 18 dollars and she charged me 28 dollars because what she brought me was fajitas and I ordered a fajita burrito per their menu and she charged me for the fajita which was more expensive and the manager refused to reduce it to the cost of the item I ordered and I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where you have to pay extra for chips. I would not recommend going to this restaurant if you want to have a good time and not be overcharged for what you get

Samantha A.

Yelp
The food was really good and it was nice for once to have an actual plant based menu. The service was good and the place was very nice inside. I will be returning.

Yelp
My mother and I decided to try Cantina Laredo for lunch on a whim and took a seat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and had a great personality. The restaurant's decor had a modern and contemporary feel with some Mexican accents. While the menu had the standard offerings you'd expect at an upscale Mexican restaurant, it lacked any unique or stand-out options that you might find at smaller local places. Overall, our experience was decent, but nothing particularly special that would make me want to return. What we ordered: Chicken Quesadilla / Carne Asada Burrito Chicken Quesadilla = Tasty and flavorful. Carne Asada Burrito = The cheese was a bit too overpowering.

Yelp
I was honestly surprised about my experience here. We previously surveyed the menu before we came a few weeks prior (so we knew kind of what to expect) The pictures look better than the actual meal. We both ordered margarita flights 2/3 were good, and the last margarita was not even drinkable. App: Top Shelf Guacamole (prepared to your liking, table side) This wasn't entirely true; no one came to your table side to make guacamole (I was excited about that option and was a little sad that they just came out of the back with guacamole on a plate which was also flavorless) (You shouldn't advertise something if you don't do it) Main Course: (2) 3 Taco Dinners with rice and beans. I am a bit of a taco connoisseur, and these were not it. There was no flavor in the tacos, rice, AND beans. I ate 1 taco and small bites of the rice and beans (when we received our check and our waitress took the plates back, I was surprised that she didn't even attempt to ask why my entire plate was still filled with food) I think she was new. Overall, I won't be back, but the view is nice.

Yelp
I dined at Cantina Laredo with my family on a weeknight in the summer and was pleased. When I booked the reservation I was expecting a good experience and that is what I got. Traveling with a party of 8, I appreciate their booth seating accommodation which normally seats 5-6 comfortably, however, they added three chairs to the table which worked out perfect for my party of 8. Our waiter was very efficient, friendly, and attentive. I appreciate when a restaurant is able to serve a table with a party of 8 or more without needing to assign more than one waiter. Often that is a strategy used by restaurants to classify such groups as "parties" and thus apply large group "service fees" and mandatory tips. In this case our waiter was more than competent and effective in tending to us. The food was hot, delicious, and certainly a great option for midscale Mexican cuisine. The inside of the restaurant is large, spacious, and modern. There is also a large indoor bar and outdoor seating. The restaurant is located on the 2nd flood, so you'll need to take the elevator up or walk up the stairs from the street level. Overall a very good experience. Give them a try.

David D.

Yelp
To start: food was good. The fajitas were tasty with tender steak and fresh tortillas. The service was average. We had to remind our server that we ordered drinks a few times. The drinks themselves were not good, we had a margarita flight and it was terrible. I've had better margs at Applebees. We were there on a Saturday night at 6:30 and they were out of one of two draft beers they had. They are also out of pico de gallo. On a weekend. At a Mexican restaurant.

Brooke G.

Yelp
One of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. Service left much to be desired. Constantly empty glasses, server was no where to be found and we had to go to the bar for help more than once, did not know menu or what was sold out, very rude, and then lied to me saying she got my order correct when she most obviously didn't. The food lacked flavor, texture, and was overall disgusting. Fish tacos tasted like old fishy fish, rice tasted like packet minute rice, kids chicken fingers had been fried and then refried resulting in chicken jerky - while the fries weren't fried long enough and were complete mush with no sat -- oh and the restaurant doesn't stock ketchup for their kids meals. It was fairly clean and looks nice we just had much higher expectations.

Yelp
A group of 8 of us went for a birthday lunch. It was raining hard outside so it wasn't a pleasant experience to get to the restaurant. But once inside, it was lovely. Our server was great. He even brought us extra plates and forks for the cake that we brought. My food was delicious. My cocktail was fantastic. I have no complaints.

Yelp
The only thing I enjoyed about this restaurant was the atmosphere and the guacamole. We came in and were seated at a table only to be told their happy hour from 3-6 is BAR ONLY. We had to be moved. If the happy hour is bar only, you would think the hostess would ask us where we would like to be seated or if we were interested in happy hour. Once we got to the bar it took a while for the bartender to serve us despite it not being busy at all. The Casa Margarita with Sangria swirl was mediocre. As an entree I had the chimichanga de pollo. Again.. mediocre. All of the food is appealing in the way of looks, but I definitely prefer traditional Mexican food over modern. I think here they make appearance a priority while neglecting service and flavor. The other thing that really irritated me was the fact the phone was right in front of us, so we were privy to every phone call. It would get super awkward when staff was stretching the phone cord over or past us. I wanted to try this place because I see people go, and the environment and food look really good; I wouldn't come again though.

Yelp
Overall had a really nice first experience at CL! Our server, Jessica, was awesome. Chips & salsa came out fast and she was right on top of drinks. Hubs & I both got the same thing; the combo fajitas. The flavor of the steak was on point; the chicken was a little disappointing. Plenty of food, though. My husband had some kind of frozen sangria which was also quite tasty. I will say the interior has zero to do with any kind of Hispanic flair. It looks like the inside of a ski chalet. Not really sure what they are going for in there! I would return again!

Yelp
Great rooftop seating with an awesome view of Town Center! We started with guacamole and margaritas- delicious! The rest of our food was great as well. Very attentive and friendly service. We will be back!

Yelp
Last time I was here, I would have given a score of about 4 stars. Sadly I was a little disappointed this go around. The service isn't too horrible and they are usually pretty friendly, but the last night I went it seems everyone was super distracted. The food is usually always great. I loved the flautitas and guacamole. Where i lost my interest in this place was when they made a mistake in the kitchen and tacked on that mistake to my bill without me knowing and then after pointing it out, instead of giving me that dish to go or taking the funds off desserts or something that made sense to me, I was given cash back for the mistake. By cash back I mean 6 dollars. Half the price of what I payed. So on that note, I probably won't go back. Haven't decided yet, but this was a massive turn off. At least the place and nice and clean.

Yelp
The location and atmosphere is perfect. The restaurant is clean and staff are friendly and welcoming. The chips and dip come as soon. As you are seated and the queso Blanco dip is amazing. I definitely recommend the Mexican apple pie dessert. Yum yum! Now that, that's out the way....I was very disappointed by the amount of time it took to get one drink. The smokey blueberry margarita. Ordered it with the beginning of my visit and my check ame before the drink. UNACCEPTABLE! Not sure if the bar staff was aware of the ticket or how to make the drink. And finally my poor unaware waitress Tameka. Unfortunately she seemed to be all over the place. 1. She either did not place the drink order or it was the bar staffs fault. But there were no apologies for the extreme lateness of the drink and nor was it taken off the tab and no discount given. 2. She brought out an extra queso dip to the table after the ordered dip was delivered, then just took it to another table as a gift lol. 3. When paying the tab she took forever to pick up the tab and then never came back with my card. When she started to look confused and asked if she had brought it back and I told her no she looked confused and asked, "well, where....?" And walked away...dead give away she lost my card!..... a few minutes later she returned my card stating she was about to fight everyone in the back.....lol poor thing. I will go back to see what else this place holds but I think I'll get another server.

Yelp
My husband and I visited the restaurant this past Sunday for a afternoon date. I have been wanting to visit since they opened. The decor and the atmosphere is very nice and inviting. We sat at the hightop tables and if returning for dinner I would sit at the regular tables which had very plush seating. We started with drinks. My husband wanted beer and the menu said ask the server for the draft selections. The server did not know or the bartender so he had to walk and look at the selections himself. I ordered the pineapple Infused rita ($13.25)which was to die for. It was pineapple Infused tequila, ginger and lemon juice. The server took my drink order and not my husband's. He had to wait till she brought my drink back to order his. We ordered the queso laredo ($11.00) and chips as a starter. When it arrived the server left without taking our food order and never came back. The bartender finally came and took our food order. I ordered the Fajita Tres ($24.50) which was steak, chicken and bacon wrapped shrimp. Worst fajitas I have ever had. Steak was hard and no flavor and shrimp was a breaded shrimp with cheese filling not a real shrimp. My husband ordered the Grilled Chicken Fajita($12.50) in which the chicken had no flavor. Despite the food our service was not good. We spent the entire time waiting trying to flag down our server who never seemed to come back. I would definitely go back in the warmer months for the drinks and queso and vibe of the restaurant but not for dinner.

Yelp
Not sure why this place doesn't get a much higher rating. I come here frequently and always have a good experience. The Carne Asada is amazing. Service is great. Good selection of beers on tap. Give it a try!

Yelp
Looks like a very hip place as Cantina Laredo sits on second floor at the corner of Town Center square with a beautiful view of the fountain plaza. At night where we sat at the corner window where lights are strewn from the ceiling down really made it a relaxing, euphoric experience. Service by Coke was wonderful. She attended to our every need. I ordered the ahi tuna tacos and my friends ordered the same and chicken quesadillas. They also ordered the strawberry lime margaritas. Even I who am a non-alcohol drinker had a quick second of regret as those margaritas looked good!!! You get bottomless chips and salsa and white sauce dips. So I give 5 stars for ambience, hip vibe and service. The chips were stale not quite crunchy as if they sat out for a while. The ahi tuna was not firm, the chunks just flopped to the side. The taco shells were also not crunchy. For what I ordered it barely made 3 stars.

Yelp
The Tres Chocolate Brownie is A MUST! We also tried the crispy carnitas bowl and grilled salmon and YALL I can see why the Salmon is a staple on their menu. The drinks were strong and well balanced. Get there for Thirsty Thursday or almost every day they have a happy hour: Monday-Friday 3-6pm and Sunday-Thursday 9pm-closed; Bar only.

Yelp
This place has a nice decore/ set up but that's all it has. I wouldn't return at all, past reviews accurate unfortunately. I was invited to a birthday dinner here with friends. Food was underwhelming & so were the drinks. Our waiter was so young I wondered if she was of legal age to even serve us alcohol. She was so blah, poor thing didn't seem to want to be there. I didn't bother taking many pics to be honest. I was over it, it's a no for me. That's it that's all.

Yelp
We made a reservation on Open Table so it was fast seating. They sat us next to the bar at first and it was too loud. So they gladly moved us to a booth on the wall. Service was great! We ordered drinks and appetizers to try them out. The tuna tacos were amazing and went too fast to take a pic I highly recommend though. They were generous with the tuna, too! Food tasted great although my friend said his black beans had a burnt taste. I thought mine was fine but the rice was too soggy. I would ask for a substitute if I make it back to this place again. The atmosphere was nice and well lighted. Bathrooms were very clean. We ordered desert but it too way too long to come so we cancelled the order. All in all it was good.

Yelp
I've been hearing about Cantina for months, but I didn't want to steer away from my normal Mexican place. But I finally came here for a happy hour with a friend! When we first got there, it was very quiet, but it was early in the evening. Their happy hour was $6 margaritas and other food specials. It was also Taco Tuesday ($2 tacos). Our server, Ashley, was very attentive and personable. She made our experience very pleasant. I would definitely ask for her the next time I'm there. The margaritas were very tasty and strong. I was shocked because sometimes people make happy hour drinks weak. The food was good as well. As we were leaving, Ashley told us about the specials they have during the week and it definitely makes me want to return! I don't remember them all, but Thursday is ladies night ($5 margaritas) and the weekend has $2 mimosas and blood Mary's, I believe!

Yelp
Waitstaff was friendly and pleasant. The seats in our booth were scratched up and peeling. We ordered the fish taco dinner and the Cancun combination. The food came out suspiciously fast. Unfortunately it was underwhelmingly basic. I don't see myself going back unless somebody pays for me.

Yelp
Dined in for a business lunch on a beautiful Monday. City views from outdoor space would have been cool but they were not seating those tables. Not too crowded inside, though a tad noisy due to open dining room with contemporary decor and aesthetics. I don't recall servers name but he was fine; food was delayed coming out of the kitchen. Ahi Tuna tacos app, 4.5/5, $12. Three poke'esque crispy shell tacos with fresh ingredient fixins. Great starter option. Crispy carnitas bowl, 4/5, $11. Protein was well made and complimented beautifully the texture and flavor profiles of other ingredients. Did I mention cilantro and jalapeños? Yummy spice of life. Portion size appears small but don't be fooled, it's filling. Vegetarian quesadilla, 4/5, $10. Friend typically insists on chorizo or some sort of meaty meal, so him saying the mushroom based dish was pretty good is a compliment.

Yelp
The service was slightly better than mediocre. The food and drinks definitely left a lot to be desired. It took 25 minutes between the time that I ordered a draft beer and when the server told me that they were out of that beer. Once my food arrived, it was made incorrectly, but the server was apologetic and offered to have it remade. My food was brought back promptly, but even made correctly, it was pretty flavorless. After my party finished our dinner, we decided to move to the bar to have a drink and clear up the table for our server. At the bar, I ordered a skinny margarita. Once I tasted it, there wasn't even a hint of tequila in my drink so I asked the bartender for an extra shot. She gave me a funny look, but then brought me a shot. That weak margarita ended up costing me $28. I definitely wouldn't return here or recommend this restaurant to anyone

Yelp
First let me say that the service was excellent. Our waitress was great and accommodating. The food was a different story. I found it to be bland. I had the 3 Chicken Enchiladas. Mainstream Mexican Restaurants have more flavor and better presentation. The ambiance was nice but could not save this review. The men's bathroom was a mess and the sinks along with the counter top need to be replaced or better caulked. My 13 year old insisted that someone urinated on the counter top. As for me I will not return to this place at all.

Yelp
We visited last night. They were out of a lot of food and some beers. They offered to use lemons in the guacamole vs limes because they were out of limes? Really??? Surprisingly our drinks came with limes in them? The food wasn't good. They never asked how the food was. We would have ordered another round of drinks but weren't asked. We later heard them tell a customer that had been waiting for service quite a while that they were out of food and the kitchen was closed, after the host sat them. I was done eating the food at that point, which explained why it wasn't good. Is the place going out of business? My family has run restaurants for more than 50 years and this isn't how it works.

Yelp
My wife and I dined at Cantina Laredo during Virginia Beach Restaurant Week, it was our first visit. The entrees were hugh. One entree could have fed both of us nicely. We took home two to-go bags of food. She had the Fajita Tres, grilled skirt steak, chicken breast, and bacon-wrapped shrimp filled with jack cheese piled high on the plate. Three tortillas accompanied the entree. Very delicious, but an extraordinary amount. I enjoyed the Camaron Poblano Asada, Shrimp, mushroom, jack cheese stuffed poblano pepper with a fire-charred skirt steak on both sides of the pepper, cooked correctly, with chimichurri sauce, on a bed of charred street corn and cilantro lime rice. If you like a spicy dish, this one will light your mouth up. Again, very delicious, but an extraordinary amount. The service was absolutely fabulous. Ambiance is bright and clean, sort of post-industrial modern chic atmosphere. The real winner of our evening was the Mexican Apple Pie dessert. If you like cinnamon, this is your dessert.

Yelp
I could sum up this entire review with one word: Meh. Here is the longer version. Most Mexican restaurants give you complimentary chips and salsa. This place charges you $3.99. The chips were actually good but the salsa blanca (white sauce) was little more than bland sour cream and the salsa roja (red sauce) had about as much flavor as tap water with a celery stalk, seriously! The Chimichanga de Pollo with both the ranchero sauce and the queso was quite bland and the chicken was largely flavorless and a bit rubbery. The rice was actually pretty good but the refried beans were a bit off and not very palatable. My wife and I were seated across from each other on the right side of a four person table but our server seemed to have difficulty grasping the concept of serving us from the side of the table at which we were seated and instead felt compelled to reach all the way across the table from the left side. I later suggested it would be easier for her to serve us from the right side of the table, and after a while, this seemed to make sense to her. When she asked us how everything was, I was honest and replied, 'it's ok'. I only ate about half of my dinner and did not feel that I would care to finish it later if I were to take it home, so when our server asked if we would like a box I simply indicated that we were not that impressed with the food and we only needed the check. Our server friendly attentive and have a great attitude. She was even gracious and thoughtful enough to remove the $3.99 charge for the chips and salsa. In conclusion, the service, ambience and atmosphere are good, but for us, and incidentally, for the couple seated at the table adjacent to us, the food, which is the main reason for visiting a restaurant, was mediocre at best. I am sad to say we will not be dining here again.
