A scene out of Seinfeld: "They know how to take the reservation, but they don't know how to keep the reservation"
Took my wife, our son and our friends out to dinner at Cantina for her 30th birthday last night!! We will NOT go back to Cantina.
We knew it would be a busy night so we made an 8:00 pm reservation Saturday two weeks in advance for 4 plus high chair for the kid.
We Arrive at 8, 5 min wait, table is prepared with 4 seats and a high chair, hostess comes over and asks the wrong name, we said no, she finds the foursome with that name and goes to seat them and asks "you needed the high-chair right", the young 4 kids said no. They all freeze before sitting, while hostess goes back to stand and checks something, clearly a mistake. She removes high chair and followed through with the mistake by seating the party of 4 at the table for 5.
Waited until 8:12 when another 4 top opens with space for a high-chair, but a new group of 4 walks in and is seated there immediately. The Manager was clearly unhappy with it and talked to the hostess while pointing to our group "that's the reservation". After 20 mins of no communication, They apologized and said it would be another 5 minutes.
Finally at 8:30 we're seated
As compensation for botching our reservation, they gave us Free guacamole. The chips had a hair in them.
Margaritas were good
Food came fast
Waitress was super nice and wanted to make up for the disservice of the long wait service. 5/5 on service
Food was okay/good 3.5 stars. Birrias Tacos were dry and lacked flavor. Maybe my perspective was tainted because of the sour taste the delay left from earlier.
I'm frustrated with poor service, not from the wait staff but from the front of house. It was not professional or communicative and a comp guac doesn't cut it. I'm mad they derailed our Birthday celebration.
