"It looks like the folks from contemporary Mexican restaurant Xico are expanding across the river. Signs are now posted in the windows of a NW 23rd restaurant space advertising Xica Cantina, a sister to the original contemporary Mexican restaurant serving regional Mexican food and plenty of mezcal." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Great spot for happy hour snacks and margaritas! They have a very extensive mezcal list as well as excellent cocktail options. We will definitely be coming here again!

It was a delicious, authentic experience, with modern twists on some of the meals. The mezcal flights are pretty awesome, and I thoroughly enjoyed the flan, and the housemade candy bar! (Pics below)

First the good. Service was decent and atmosphere was pleasant. For the food, Chips we're quite hard, the burrito was lackluster mostly beans and rice and the burger was just okay. It was wierd, the bun was grilled but then was cool to the touch when served. Not even warm. Patty was hot. Just expected more from this place. $7 for chips and salsa would have been fine had the serving size and the chips would have been better. Salsas were okay. Nothing special. Too bad

Not cheap but I don't mind paying a little more for great tasting food. The steak quesadilla is very yummy.

Super cute interior. Nice space and staff. $10 chips and guacamole, no flavor. $15 kale salad was nice, but for $15 add some protein options. Ceviche very, dear for small portion. Large portion might be ok if you order $$$ chips and salsa

Chips and dip were amazing and when steak came out not done the well I liked it, I didn’t get charged for it. Amazing food, pretty pricey

I had lunch here yesterday, and it was a straight miss across the board. The best part of the experience was the ambiance which was colorful and fanciful. The service was perfunctory. I know some people gripe about places like this, expecting Mexican food to be cheap and plentiful. This review is not that -- I'm more than happy to pay for flavor, and that's what was sorely missing. The best thing we had were the chips; the salsa was bland. It tasted like tomato puree with chili powder thrown in, no depth or complexity. In a quarter full restaurant, a salad and burrito took 45 minutes to arrive. I got the chorizo burrito. Chorizo doesn't do a good job of hiding in a dish, yet the predominant flavors were refried beans and warm, limp lettuce. I actually had to concentrate after some bites to taste the chorizo at all. My wife got a ($20 w chicken) salad and it was... bland. They clearly massaged the kale so the texture was good and it wasn't bitter, but it needed more salt and acid. It tasted like shredded green paper.
