23 Best Restaurants in Florence

"Housed in the vaulted ex-cellars of 15th-century Palazzo Antinori, the Cantinetta breathes aristocratic Old Florence. The atmosphere is upscale and slightly hushed; tables are laid with crisp white cloths, and crystal glasses gleam. Menus are based on Tuscan classics with some seasonal variation. Kick off with a fettunta (bruschetta, in Tuscany) topped with cavolo nero (black cabbage) before moving on to pappa al pomodoro (a thick, bread-based tomato soup), pasta with artichokes, ossobuco, and tagliata (sliced steak) topped with pecorino cheese. It all comes with liberal lashings of the peppery in-house olive oil, and comes to your table courtesy of an old-school, deferential staff suited in cream jackets with bow ties. This place appeals to an older crowd of well-heeled tourists looking for a quiet meal with top-notch service. There are also Florentines among the diners, many of them friends of the aristocratic owners." - Nicky Swallow

"Palace Dining Via Tornabuoni, one of the most elegant streets in Florence , is lined with many imposing Renaissance palazzi, includinga 15th-century beauty owned by the Antinori family, the famed wine producers. The ground floor of Palazzo Antinori is given over to a refined restaurant with a formal dining room—think starched linen tablecloths and waiters in white jackets—suitable for the aristocratic atmosphere. The kitchen relies on ingredients from the family's estate, so the menu is limited, seasonal, and fresh. Not surprisingly, the wine list is deep, with a selection of super Tuscan blends and wines from the Antinori cellars."

Me and my family had an amazing meal here! The food and the service was acceptional. Our server Salema gave us amazing recommendations and made sure we were comfortable and happy with everything

Google
A lovely, cozy, luxurious evening for dinner- the quality of the ingredients is phenomenal and the wine pairing just makes the experience better. The service and ambiance is high quality without being stuffy which made for a really enjoyable experience. We had the seasonal artichoke omelette, daily special pasta of gambari with burrata, alongside an exceptional Florentine steak.

Google
Authentic menu, carefully curated, service was perfect and presentation was perfect. Our waiter « salama » was helpful, friendly and absolutely professional. My only downside was a small table, so better reserve to make sure you get a good one

An exceptional dining experience in the heart of Florence. Elegant and cozy, nestled within the historic Palazzo Antinori. Food was amazing and great wine selection 😍

We had a lovely lunch at Cantinetta Antinori and sat in their charming courtyard, which was peaceful and beautifully tucked away from the bustle of Florence. We ordered a selection of locally sourced, simple dishes—prawns and squid with beans and herbs, a unique “naked” ravioli made of ricotta and spinach without pasta, and a perfectly cooked steak. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The staff were attentive and gracious, making the experience even more enjoyable. This spot is a wonderful hidden gem—refined, authentic, and well worth a visit.

Food was amazing and Antinori wines are really great. Risotto with asparagus, fresh pasta with ragú and desserts to finish.

We had a very tasty dinner and overall a great experience at this restaurant! The starters and meat dishes were absolutely delicious — full of flavor and beautifully cooked. However, the pappardelle pasta was a bit of a letdown and didn’t quite match the quality of the other dishes. That said, the staff was very attentive and made us feel welcome throughout the evening. We truly enjoyed our time here and would gladly return for the excellent service and standout dishes.

One of my favorite restaurants in Florence with a superior wine selection (even by the glass) Can only recommend it!

Yelp
This was a recommendation from a friend and did not disappoint. Cantinetta Antinori is a great place for a splurge or a special occasion. The interior reminds me of a private club complete with wood paneling and old school charm. The service and all the food was exceptional. Several of us shared the Bestecca alla Florentine. This was by far the best we have had.

Yelp
The hostess wasn't much of a welcome. She stood far away from me and was mumbling, we sat inside. Overall the food was just okay, nothing special. Our waiter was very nice. We wanted to start with a cocktail, unfortunately they only serve wine. The menu was strange. Appetizers did not compliment the entree's well, therefore it was difficult to order. We did not love our food, it was ordinary. A shame because it is a very nice dining room. I would not recommend.

Yelp
Sat in the courtyard. Beautiful ambience. The food was wonderful. Florentine steak was delicious. House wine was excellent. Sleeper dish was the fish ragout: exceptional. Very good service. A wonderful first night in Florence.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised to secure a reservation at Cantinetta Antinori restaurant just hours before, as they are known for requiring lengthy advance bookings. The atmosphere was delightful, with lovely decor, and the waiter was friendly, although there might have been a slight language barrier. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to its reputation. The steaks looked appetizing but turned out to be extremely chewy, and the pasta lacked flavor. Perhaps my expectations were too high, given that I'm used to the fantastic restaurants in LA. Overall, it was an average experience and didn't quite match the Michelin-starred restaurant I had anticipated.

Yelp
Terrible service and unimpressive food. Ambiance can only carry a place so far. Not worth it.

Yelp
Definite visit for a fine dining experience in Florence. My fiancé and I were greeted with a romantic atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food. Throughout the course of our meal we were neither rushed nor interrupted giving us time to enjoy the delicious food/wine and ambiance (we had a beautiful table in a private nook). Would definitely recommend for a nice night out in Florence.

Yelp
The Antinori restaurant in Florence is a disappointment. We have been drinking Antinori wines for many years as well as their olive oil. We love all things Antinori and have been to the Tuscan Winery and the restaurants in Zurich and Vienna on previous trips. Our experience tonight at Antinori's in Florence was coloured by the fact that the maître de was brutish and unfriendly and we were seated upstairs in sweltering heat and were drenched in sweat the entire meal. If it wasn't for the fact that my husband had ordered a beautiful bottle of 2005 Tignanello that was delicious our dinner experience would have been abysmal. To that end, the pasta was average and the meatballs were so salty we could not eat them. We did have a lovely waiter (Davish) who gave us excellent service, but this is not a restaurant worth revisiting.

Yelp
Beautiful spot for lunch- pricey, but worth it! We had the cheese platter, vegetable soup, fusilli with broccoli. The staff were friendly and helpful. Prices averaged around 20€ not including wine. You can purchase by the glass or the bottle, most bottles start at 15€ and go up fairly quickly to 30€. Memorable, but not the best food so far.

Yelp
The food and service here were amazing. Portions are not "American sized" which left room for the spectacular pear pie/cake. The warm seafood salad may be one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. My beef was good but that salad was fantastic. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a little fancier dinner and high end service. Prices are a little on the higher side but you pay for the atmosphere and quality.

Yelp
My wife and I were staying in Florence and spent day in Venice and got back late. Sat upstairs around 10pm and restaurant mid week was busy. We had some nice glasses of wine and we both had the pasta. Mine was the bolognese and it was awesome. Great food and service

Yelp
Tourist trap. Beware. They will overcharge you for everything you order when they see you are a tourist. We got charged $2 euros extra for each entree and $8 euros extra for the wine. They do this because unlike most places that charge a cover charge, this place charges a 10% service charge. Menu is also very limited. Stay away. There are too mane choices in Florence.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with this place. It had been recommended to me by someone who had eaten at their Zurich restaurant but clearly this did not live up to the hype. The entrance is beautiful but once inside, the space is nothing special. It's a smallish restaurant with a bar that runs the length of the restaurant. The wine selection was great & the waiter helped us choose an excellent wine. However the food was just okay. Nothing special. I wish I could leave a better review.

Yelp
Well, one of the most famous restaurants in Florence, right inside Palazzo Antinori. Food is really well cooked, attentive "silver spoon" service and great wine list are all features to this place. Portions are a bit too much "nouvelle cuisine" and of course prices are quite steep, but i'd say that they are correct for the atmosphere and level of the restaurant.

Yelp
Excellent dinner in an unpretentious atmosphere. Sea Bass with thin crisped potatoes and tomatoes was excellent, although not on the menu. The restaurant is very challenging to find, as you have to go in what appears to be the entrance to a private home. Through the entry, we found ourselves in a courtyard with tables displaying a model and history of each of the family's vineyards. We had walked right past the door to the restaurant. The service was impeccable. We had only entrees and shared a salad, and had wine by the glass. Yet our waiter did not blink an eye. Very gracious.

Yelp
This is a bit of a hidden restaurant. It goes quite unnoticed by many, and can even be difficult to find. It is elegant inside, and if you are looking for an experience that is more than a typical trattoria, this is a great choice. They have a very good pappardelle with cinghiale ragu, and also pappa al pomodoro. Their steaks are cooked very well and service is very good. You will find it to be a bit more expensive, but it will end up being a different kind of experience here. It is owned by the Antinori wine family, and therefore the wine and olive oils are made by them and are top notch. You may want to have someone explain how to find it....

Yelp
My mother, my daughter and I went there two weeks ago and were completely delighted about it. The service was most professional (as you would expect in Italian restaurants) and the food was excellent. Yes, it is on the expensive side of things but they have a great selection of cheap, local wines that compensate for this. Their warm pear tart was most delicious! I would go back any time.

Yelp
We had a light dinner at this "wine bar" restaurant, and were delighted with the experience. The antipasti items were of top quality, as was the rest of the food. They have an extensive list of local (principally Tuscany/chianti region) wines by the glass; when I asked for his favorites, the helpful waiter (perhaps predictably ! ) recommended the Antinori house wines, at really cheap prices of 3 euros for the white, and 4 euros for the red (other makers' wines were more expensive, but looked interesting). Both of the Antinori wines were excellent, and a steal at the price. The waiter was attentive, the food excellent, and the wine was both excellent and remarkably affordable. A really delightful experience in a wonderful town ! Highly recommended. Dress is casual.

Yelp
Closed . If it's open we don't know as they don't have the decency to have a sign . I have been in the one at Vienna , wonderful place. This location invisible! !!

Yelp
Very disappointing and poor value for the price and the taste of the food. A very unrefined eatery that is priced like a high end restaurant. My first problem is the menu, which has 5 or 6 entrees, but two of the entree are items that will not have broad appeal (swordfish--not a top seller these days, and rabbit--I like it, but it is a pretty bland protein that tends to be dressed up by the sauce it is cooked with). I tried the Tuscan style beef, which had the quality of a low grade sirloin but was priced as if USDA Prime striploin. Avoid this if you have to dine at this restaurant. My wife had a pasta with ragout of a pork, which was OK but was much more on the rustic side as opposed to the refined side. The plates they serve the food on would have been thrown out by most restaurants years ago and look like cafeteria plates. When I finished the meal and go the bill, I really felt like I had received a poor meal but paid for a five star meal. Only bright side was a nice wine list or Antinori family wines at moderate prices for such quality.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! The service was impeccable and the food was the best. Sea bass baked on a bed of thinly sliced potatoes with capers and sundried tomatoes. The restaurant owns a farm and vinyard and serves from both. If you are in Florence, YOU MUST GO HERE!!!!!!

Yelp
After reading some of the reviews i was expecting expensive, bad service, and pretty good food. What I and my family of 6 experienced was fantastic food and extremely attentive service. But it ain't cheap. Total bill was 250 EURO. One bottle of 20 euro wine. I would return in a heartbeat. I had the goose. One of my sons had the wild boar stew... the artichoke appetizer was incredible. This was on New Years Ever at 8:30 pm. Prego!
