"Portugal is positively stuffed with extraordinary hotels, but this one stands out by virtue of its sheer uniqueness: a once-abandoned house in a residential section of Porto, after a very thorough five-year renovation at the hands of its French owners, is now a luxurious little boutique hotel in a style that’s decidedly modern yet as warm and welcoming as anything else in town: the poetically named Canto de Luz." - Tablet Hotels

This place is incredible. Our room (urban retreat I) was spacious and clean, also packed to the brim with amenities. The daily breakfast included was absolutely wonderful and the staff are excellent. Everyone on site truly seemed like they were passionate about their work and enjoyed being there. Definitely recommend checking out one of their wine tastings (we opted for the port tasting, as it is in Porto)

When we arrived at Canto de Luz we did question what we had booked as it looked so nondescript from the street. However we need not have worried. The location is excellent being within walking distance of many shops, bars, restaurants and attractions.||Once inside the building it opens up to some bright airy spaces. Our room was bright, cool, comfortable and very quiet despite being in the middle of the city. The black out shutters work very well and we slept well while in Porto.||The outside areas including the pool and loungers are a real haven from the busy city.||Staff were very friendly but it didn’t have a small hotel feel. There are a large number of staff due to the other activities hosted by the hotel (wine tasting and cookery demos). We were asked every morning for our name and room number, like a chain hotel. ||Breakfast has a small menu of a daily pastry and bread, with little portions of ham & cheese, fruit and granola and fried or scrambled eggs. If you love sweet treats you’ll love this breakfast. However, most options were a little too sweet for my taste with the daily special, fruits, yoghurt and granola having added sugar, syrup or honey. I would have preferred a buffet selection with some wholemeal bread, natural yoghurt, and some savoury alternatives.||Overall, the location, room, friendly staff and outside areas make it a great choice when visiting Porto and an enjoyable venue to spend a few days.

I did extensive research for a place to stay while we were in Porto. We only had two nights and we had a rental car which can make it tricky to find somewhere close to the main downtown area. This hotel is centrally located and has parking available in their garage, so we just parked our car and left it there so we could explore on foot. The staff were attentive and shared their favorite restaurants and where to watch the best sunset. The wine dispenser was an extra bonus for a nightly treat! The homemade breakfast in the morning was delicious. The pool area is small but it was really warm when we were there so it was nice to cool off after lots of walking. Amazing place to stay, we will definitely return for another longer stay next time!

From the moment I stepped through the doors of Canto de Luz, I was greeted with warm, welcoming smiles and coffee. The service is absolutely top-notch—every staff member went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. Special thanks to Nara who helped us local recommendations (even helped place a local call for us), arranging the massage, and confirming our transfer out arrangements. The location of this boutique hotel is also unbeatable. It’s just a short walk to all the major attractions, cafes and restaurants yet feels quiet once you enter the premises gates. You really can't ask for a better base to explore the city. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with a mix of modern and cozy touches. The rooms are impeccably clean, spacious, and comfortable. Hope to return one day.

We researched MANY hotels, VRBO apartments, Inns, and more, and decided on Canto de Luz. It did not disappoint. We stayed in a City Suite on the 3rd floor. Spacious room, with a wonderful view. Loved the blackout shutters for sleeping and the comfortable bed. The Alexa was a nice touch, and we found ourselves using it to get the weather forecast and listen to music. The bathroom was also spacious, with a large shower, a towel warmer, and a large mirror.||The kitchen/breakfast area was also lovely. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Zuzanna and treated to a wonderful cappuccino. Breakfast each day was tasty — we loved the Portuguese treats that were served every day and the rotating special breakfast option! We felt very taken care of with a car arranged for us to go to the airport, and breakfast made "to-go" on our early morning days. We even had a chance to use the pool--refreshing after a long day of walking the city. When we return to Porto, we will not have to research where to stay...we will return to Canto de Luz!

Simply the cutest boutique hotel in Porto. If you blink you will walk right past the door but once you are inside the 3 story building holds a kitchen where the make the best made to order breakfast and coffee (along with wine tasting and cooking classes), a magical wine dispenser, cute work nooks, a sunroom, garden and pool. Not to mention to staff (hello Hannah) who are so kind and always around for whatever you need (including personal recommendations on what to do or where to eat). A must stay when in Porto.

We stayed there for a couple of days on vacation and it was terrific. The rooms are well designed and have just about everything you need in a small efficient space. Plenty of natural light from the skylight and sliding doors to your own patio. The fridge was nice as they gave us milk for coffee and filtered water. The coffee maker was great. The bed was quite comfortable in a king size. I felt like we were in a quaint apartment in Porto. The staff were really nice and accommodating. The breakfast we had in their indoor/outdoor dining area was very nice with lots of variety to choose from and well made with fresh bread, fruit yogurt and eggs to order. We had to check out quite early and they left us a nice breakfast to go. I would absolutely return here anytime in Porto. I can't find fault with anything about this place.
