Greeted as soon as we walked in! Sticky menus, clean tables, big portions. Food was ok, and came out super quick. To-go boxes available. Our service was not the best compared to the table behind us. We had different servers. Lunch service was subpar on a not busy lunch hour.

Come on! This place is getting worse and worse, sorry but they just lost another good customer, i ordered food and everything was left overs, tasted terrible! I still have the taste of the old also I tried the egg rolls I spited it right away because it was rotten and threw it to the trash all the food. Shrimp very cooked even burned, red sauce for the egg roll smell like is passed due. I used to take my family that visited me every month but no thank you that is embarrassing to take them to this bad place.. my husband asked for chopsuey and we didn’t find any taste. 🤢🤮🤮🤮

Google
I have had wor wonton soup all over town i would have to say this one has to the be at the bottom of the list for me. The one positive thing i can say is I got the order to go and they packaged the broth separately. The broth has no flavor, the chicken is very tough and dry. There are a good amount of wonton unfortunately they had zero flavor. Thier chili oil is not just a oil but a sauce? It has a off putting flavor to it and very glad I tasted it before adding it to my soup. I will have to go back and try a different dish but I definatly will not order the wor wonton again .

I’ve been to Canton for many years. I no longer live close but was in town and made a big order for my moms birthday dinner. We found two hairs in the food. My mom being one of them. What a disaster!!! Especially it being her birthday. I could not believe that and not to mention the portions are so small especially in the chicken. I paid $143 for 6 people PLUS I left a $10 tip even though it was a to go order. Definitely not the same like it used to be. I will no longer be going here for Chinese food. We only ordered here because Fortune Cookie in Exeter was closed on that Monday.

Google
Canton | Chinese Restaurant, Me & my daughter had came here for dinner so we both had gotten the dinner combinations the #2 & it was so much food & everything was so delicious & she got water & I got the ice tea (it was a little bitter) but with a little help from a slice of lemon made it so much better! Because the soda machine was not working at the time but later on it was working again. Our servicer she was good & on it & the food came out right away after ordering it one thing after another! Blam! Blam! Before we could even finish our soup & our appitzers for the combination & then the main course was here! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s & 💯%+ Great Job! 😎👍

Google
500 MILES!!! That's how far our DoorDash driver (love my familia!!) drove to bring me Canton's 5. Sweet and Sour Pork or Chicken. My first eating memories in Life are of Misses Lee's Canton's Sweet and Sour Pork. There is no better Chinese food in the world!! And mind you, I lived in China for an era of my Life and vacationed there! AND I've eaten at different Chinese restaurants all across the USA. CANTON’S THE BEST!!

My family has been going here for years since I was young. My friends and their families have come here since they were young and many other families who come here have a special place in their heart for Canton restaurant. The food is always good, the service is always good, the atmosphere is elegant with the crystal chandelier we all adore. Oh! And don't forget to try the teriyaki chicken salad! 😉

Google
Great spot. Fair prices! The honey walnut shrimp was very crispy and the sauce was great! The chow mein was good but I felt was not as great as the previous reviews said. Great portions and good lun ch special. It feels like a solid choice. P.s- be sure to specify between crispy noodles ( chow mein can noodles) and pan fried ( chow mein).

Yelp
I've visited this place many times and the food has always been great! One plate I've enjoyed the most is the Kung Pao chicken and it's rich with flavors, especially garlic.

Yelp
Canton's is always a great place to visit at lunchtime. Have been visiting Canton's for years. My favorite dishes are the Spicy Fish and the Spicy Pork Chop. The service is always excellent and such a great relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Yelp
My Wife and I ate at the Canton Restaurant at 419 East Main Street in Visalia, California today, December 14, 2024 and our waiter was Gary Zheng. My wife had the Egg Foo Young and I had the Mandarin Chicken which came with Pork Fried Rice and Egg Flower Soup. The service was great, as Mr. Zheng was very helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys Chinese cuisine.

Yelp
We came at 830 pm Busy as always; nothing new. Got seated and served drinks quickly. Was told food was going to take awhile to cook. Dad got his food first which was delicious and I got mine 15 minutes after which was fine. Dad ordered the wrong combo but he very much enjoyed the gravy and that Pattie The only thing that does bother me is the amount of tables that are dirty and stay dirty . It just makes the environment feel like unsanitary

Yelp
This place is like a 1980's time capsule. Qingdao Beer calendar on the wall? Check. Table older than your grandpa? Check. Paper placemats with Chinese zodiac? Check. The Chinese name of the restaurant is way more interesting, 羊城, the City of Rams. Around 900BC, the city of Canton had a famine. The gods gifted the people 5 good luck rams that brought 3000 years of prosperity to Canton. Ok, enough history lessons. The waiters are fast and emotionless, which is typical of old school Cantonese restaurants. I turned on my charm and the waitress finally smiled . I ordered the first thing on their lunch special, Mongolian Beef . It is one of the most famous and least authentic Chinese dish. Like magic, the egg drop soup appeared instantly on the table. Who need small talk when your waitress has super power speed. Very nice soup for a cold winter day. Then the main dish came so fast I barely swallowed my last bit of soup. Why do people love old school Chinese restaurants? It is the value. The dish is huge, a full serving of fried rice, a full serving of chow mein, and a generous portion of beef. Honestly in any other restaurant it can be sold as 3 separate dishes. The beef was sweet, tangy, with mild spice (Cantonese people are lightweight when it comes to spicy food), with delightful white onions, carrots. Shameful, guilty pleaser for sure. The fried rice even have bits of bbq pork in it. When the bill came, it is $13 tax included. I ate until I burst and I only finish half of the food. If you want a quick, hearty, delicious Chinese fix, this is the place for you!

Yelp
The food was very reminiscent and comforting of Chinese American food in many other mom and pop restaurants. The service was prompt and attentive.

Yelp
My family's go-to for yummy Chinese food for years. Their chow mein and rice are always a hit. And we switch between their potstickers and honey walnut shrimp. Their chicken noodle soup is also a go-to when feeling under the weather.

Sonia L.

Yelp
the service was the worst, I was left to stand while 4 different small groups entered after me were seated. I did not bother staying after 25 minutes of being ignored and passed, believing they were there because of a reservation. I also noticed that I was ignored because I had a service animal with me and they blatenly asked for a government id for the dog which is the first I have ever heard about.

Yelp
The food is super great tasting, great flavor and perfect texture. The servers are very helpful and friendly. The place is a little bit run down but still nice.

Michele M.

Yelp
This is our go-to spot for Chinese food in town. A couple of our favorites are the Honey Walnut Shrimp and the Combination Chow Mein (it's a little spicy)! I wanted to add updated menu pics with prices since I had a little shock at the increase in price for our order. Still a great value for great food, but like everything else, the prices have jumped up a bit.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been here. It's changed a lot! Not in a good way.. The wonton soup was cold. It came out at the same time with the chow mein which was hot. Maybe a lazy way to get both at the same time. I don't know who dropped the ball on that it was terrible. The chow mein was ok but nothing special about it. It had 4-5 pieces of shrimp and two pieces of fish no squid or other seafood, mediocre. More vegetables than anything! The Peking spareribs were actually decent. Arrived 30mins after the first two dishes though. The service was ok, but if it was her fault for a cold soup then not good. I guess the soup made a big difference especially if you came for the soup. You know hot soup on a cold day.. The ambiance was frantic all the tables were packed with leftovers and dirty dishes. About 7-8 people in the kitchen maybe they needed to go out and help clean and clear off the tables?! I don't know it used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Visalia in the days but those days are gone!! It's such a bummer!!!

Yelp
Food was very delicious! I was extremely impressed with the speed of getting everything out to our table. We went in for the honey walnut shrimp and was definitely impressed. We also got a #2 combo. Definitely Recommend! The place would definitely benefits from some TLC.

Yelp
I went during the week at lunch time to try this place on my lunch break. The ambiance: It was not busy at all it was quiet and we. It did not disappoint. I had a lunch special that had orange chicken beef broccoli chow mein and fried rice. My thing is chow mein. You have to have good chow mein and this place had it. The service was fine, waitress was nice. Now I have two great options restaurant wise to choose from. This place and new star China. I'll definitely come back to dine in would love to try their other plates.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
I would have given three or four star, but I went with a friend for lunch a week ago, We finished our lunch and were boxing some leftovers when my stomach started to act up, by the time we were out the door it was really hurting, we were planning on going to Costco afterwards, well that didn't happen due cramping and being nauseous, made it home to diarrhea that lasted four days. had to go and see my doctor, that said it was food poisoning. due to the bad experience I had I will never plan on going to Canton again food needs to be kept at certain temperature, cleanliness, and food handling is very important. But we cannot see behind the scenes

Shannon R.

Yelp
I've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and has been one of my favorites, however the take out that I ordered tonight was nasty. Rice tasted old and dry and the chicken was dry and seemed like it was reheated from yesterday. Not sure if I'll be going back after this.

Yelp
Best war won ton soup I've ever had. Quick service, great food and conveniently located

Elizabeth Y.

Yelp
The Spicy fish is awesome! Noodles are amazing! Wor wonton soup is to kill for! We need a Canton's in Springfield MI

Yelp
I went here for lunch while visiting a family member in the near by hospital. Food was good although they give you enough for 3 people and service was great. Not much for ambiance but we were ok with that.
google avatar

Yelp
If you ENJOY eggplant they have an AMAZING eggplant/beef dish that you are able to request. It is not always available but when it is...LOOK OUT!!
google avatar

Jayne F.

Yelp
Very tasty sweet and sour pork, with moo pork, fried rice and crispy chow mein! Dinner for 2 to go was enough for 4 adults and possibly 5! I would definitely order from Canton Chinese Restaurant!
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
It has been a long time since I have eaten at Canton. I remember back in the day this place was a goto spot and when I found myself craving Chinese and was just down the road, it seemed like a good idea. I was a bit surprised that at 5 30 there was almost nobody there. We ordered the family meal and it came with chow mein, wanton soup, chicken, broccoli beef, and shrimp and egg rolls. We also added walnut shrimp. I can honestly say the only decent part to it all was the wanton soup. It was about $70 after tip and we were thoroughly disappointed with the whole experience. I now know why there wasn't anyone there at peak dinner time. My advice would be to avoid this place.

Yelp
It's ok, not authentic imo. On the plus side, they do serve large portions at reasonable prices. Place could use a remodel, seems a little rundown.

Corina S.

Yelp
Food was great, service was great and ambiance was great! I will continue to go there, one of the best Chinese food places!

Savannah O.

Yelp
Restaurant space: spacious, but could use a nice face lift. Staff: always friendly and attentive. Food: 10/10 for these menu items Potstickers pan fried Wor Won Ton Soup (shrimp, red meat, dumping, chicken, veggies) Honey Walnut Shrimp (nicely coated and not too much) Shanghai Chow Fun (flat rice noodle) Not pictured (combination chow mein) Both of these noodle dishes are made w jalapeños They have chili oil and chili paste Neither are spicy imo We do notice a difference between dine in and take out. Dine is a much nicer experience as the food is nice and hot!

Viviana C.

Yelp
I am so disgusted after my visit today, not just because of what happened but because of how the situation was handled. My partner and I were enjoying a nice lunch today when he discovered a cockroach in his fried rice which was also the same rice everyone in the restaurant was consuming. We were so shocked and felt our stomachs turn with disgust. We let the waitress know without causing a huge fuss and all she did was remove the plate and during the time I spent in the bathroom vomiting she had replaced only my partners plate. We ended up just leaving, very grossed out but at least the waitress said we didn't have to pay and could take our food to go... we did not take the food to go. They need an inspection for sure.

Yelp
We always get 2 number 2's for our family of 4 and it works out great. Their soft noodles are great, egg foo yung is the best ive ever had.
google avatar

Buddy A.

Yelp
As normal everything was good but then we started eating our honey walnut shrimp that had a strange flavor, then I realized there oil was dirty or burnt, that's what it smelled like and a tasted like, I called them and they said bring it back, I shouldn't have to had made this phone call in the first placed you can smell it right away. Smells nasty. But they said bring it back down and they would exchange it or give a refund, well I'm not waisting that gas. Change the oil in the fryers

Yelp
In town on business once again and headed right over to Cantons for beef chow mein and won ton on point again

Camila V.

Yelp
okay so it started fine the place is small but good location so wtv got seated fast the lady got my table out drinks in a pretty quick time and all was well till we got out food, we got 4 different things because 4 people and we got like half of it at different times and the portions were WAY TOO BIG like they most definitely recycle the food which is kinda gross but whatever and then while i was eating my stomach starts to feel very weird and strange so i dicide to go to the restroom and i was in there for 30 minutes when i was trying to relieve myself but it was horrible to the point i needed to throw up to feel better and so we paid and left and i kept feeling bad long story short... i got food poisoning
google avatar

Yelp
I always like to start with a positive if I can, so this restaurant is very quick! The vegetable chow mein was tasty, but needed salt. The honey walnut shrimp is very good, but the size of the serving was disappointing, especially since it was a $14.25 item. The orange chicken is completely different from any orange chicken I have had, it is listed as spice, but I picked up no heat and little orange flavor on the positive side, it is all white meat chicken. The real disappointment with this meal, was the sweet and sour pork. The pork tasted old and reheated. This in my opinion was not a $50+ meal.
google avatar

Virginia B.

Yelp
The sweet and sour shrimp was terrible. They had diced up shrimp in heavy batter, not whole shrimp. The sauce was weak and the presentation was terrible. Will not go back. They must have a new chef. Ruined my appetite.

Kay J.

Yelp
What has happened to Canton's?!?!! Empty seats but took 10 minutes for some one to acknowledge us. Waited for water-- waited to order. 10 groups of people in restaurant counting us-- but they had 3 waitresses. No big groups. We have eaten here at least once a month before the pandemic-- for over 30 years!!! Never like this. Our rice, wonton and chicken came out pretty quickly-- followed by My grand-daughter's single plate. We ate the rice-- discussed the stale wontons and dry chicken -- and still the rest of our order hadn't arrived. One waitress opened door to second room and yelled they needed help(!?!). Finally ours arrived-pretty sure it was ready when Grand-daughter's was. Horrible and cold!!! Husband ate two bites-- me-- maybe a few more than that-- but just not good cold. Waitress never could be found to ask for hot food. We have noticed the quality of the food had gone down-- but we had been getting take-out for past year or more. Thought being there in person it might be better-- nope. I did mention stale wontons and cold food when I paid-- she didn't seem to care. So disappointing. Won't be back.

Lilly K.

Yelp
I've been going here for over 20 years. It's delicious and consistent. Great place to bring the whole family.

Kathy L.

Yelp
This has to be the most rude restaurant in Visalia that is also prejudice against individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. I took the individuals out to eat and they wanted this restaurant. The individuals in this particular home are very well behaved when we go out to eat and are very conscious of their appearance. When we entered the door we were greeted with a very rude person who told us to leave because they didn't want us to "scare" the other customers. So totally unacceptable and way out of line. Never go there!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Order wrong! I asked for 4 #1's all chow mein no rice. I was charged extra for all chow mein. I get all the way home in Exeter and all dinners have rice. I called back to let them know. I was told I could bring them back and I explained I live in Exeter. I was then told when I order again I get discount for all chow mein. How is that a discount, I already paid for all chow mein and got rice. Also, when picking up my food the lady was rude. Food was not that great. I will not be going back.

Marycela V.

Yelp
Amazing food and service would go here again. Staff was courteous and helpful, food was great and very affordable.
google avatar

Leah M.

Yelp
This is my families favorite Asian restaurant in Visalia, CA. Great beef ribs!!! Well worth the wait!! Huge portions & fast friendly service. Wonderful!!

Hortencia R.

Yelp
Food is great but service is horrible. They wanted to sit my 6 person family in a 4 person table where we would be bumping chairs with the people behind us. There was more tables where we could fit and when we asked if we can move to a bigger table they said no. We got up to leave and then they were willing to accommodate us.

Dee R.

Yelp
Cantons has officially lost it. The food was awful. I noticed it has become impossible to ask for a refill on soda. The amount of fillers they use in the chow mein and how they refry everything. I given Cantons 3 chances this past few months and they have disappointed us. Goodbye Cantons. Hopefully you change and not close your doors.
google avatar

Gloria R.

Yelp
Always a great place to eat! Love the combination lunches and dinners. They really truly pack your plate. You will have enough to share or to take home with you. The pictures don't do the flavors they great justice. I'm obsessed with their friend rice and egg drop soup

Monica R.

Yelp
The food was awful. Save yourself and your wallet. High price low quality food. Disappointed
google avatar

Rasec B.

Yelp
This place has been opened for over 29yrs. And I know the reason why. Last time I dine at Canton was many many years ago. I went this Saturday night and the food was still as delicious as it was back then. Keeping it consistent and good quality is two of the most important key components in staying open for so many years. Still owned by the same owners always very welcoming. GOOD JOB CANTON !!!
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy family dinner! Wonton soup, orange chicken, beef & broccoli and a plate of appetizers
google avatar

Ulisses T.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in Visalia no other place around with the same quality of Chinese food I have tried others but I always come back to this place you can't go wrong with anything you order I recommend the broccoli chicken ask them to make it spicy with the chili peppers if you like spicy food it's really good thumbs up
google avatar

Pamela H.

Yelp
Order was incorrect! When I called to let them know my order was incorrect I was given attitude. I asked to speak to the manager and they said she was busy!!! They said I could get credit the next time I decide to come in, although I do not plan to return any time soon. I asked to be refunded and they said they could not give me a refund. I finally got a call back from the manager who then apologized for her employees attitude when I called. I do not recommend this place ever again. They used to have great customer service. This is not the first time one of their employees gives me attitude.
google avatar

Isy V.

Yelp
Yummy!!! Walnut shrimp is the best thing!!! A bit sweet for my taste but I always end up getting the same thing. It's even better when you dine in. The service is wonderful & never disappoints. It does get busy tho! The downfall is that you have to wait for a table.
google avatar

Fabian M.

Yelp
We didn't even get to order. It was so loud because some kids were sitting at a table by themselves and just screaming and running around. Parents or waitstaff not controlling them or telling them to hush. After I told the waitress how loud it was and that were going elsewhere she made us pay for the iced tea. We didn't even touch them but I paid for them and two teas cost $8.58. WTF! I don't recommend this place.
google avatar

Toni M.

Yelp
My soup was cold the service sucks I had to keep asking for a refill on my iced tea all they kept giving me was ice in there the food was nasty I won't go back again. Now I know why I haven't. Been there in years. I would go again
