"The sign above this Chinese Vietnamese restaurant indicates the amalgam of cultures blending inside. Vietnamese, English, and Cantonese characters are posted on the bold red marquee up front. The restaurant’s interior is more modern, with industrial-style metal chairs and pendant lights hanging above plush booths. Canton Restaurant serves fried rice, various noodle dishes, and wontons. But the reason why most people visit is for the porridges. There are 10 different varieties — the Canton House special porridge combines chicken, fish, shrimp, and squid; the salted pork with preserved egg is another classic. All versions come with bean sprouts and should be ordered with crispy fried Chinese-style donuts." - Jenn Tanaka

"At peak hours, Chao Ca Cho Cu is home to the tantalizing scent of grilling onions, turmeric and fresh dill. Practically every table here has the cha ca thang long, a family-sized serving of the Hanoi dish of catfish marinated in turmeric. Less flashy is the must-order fish porridge, a ginger-inflected, brothy number that’s deeply satisfying on its own or with the optional quẩy, or savory fried breadsticks." - Euno Lee

that fish, worth the drive and so are their congee. Decent service, the owner is welcoming and friendly. Your typical hole in the wall space but it is clean and bright. I definitely recommend a visit.

I was craving a cantonese breakfast today and I ended up finding this place on google maps. Im canto so I naturally gravitated towards the salty pork & preserved/century egg congee (皮蛋瘦肉粥). The pork that it came with was shredded pork and the century egg was cut up into quarters (or larger). Like some of the reviews that other mentioned - the fried dough is cold when it comes out, but im thinking that it may be that way because its supposed to be dipped in the hot congee anyways so I didnt find a problem with it. My total came to be $16 and with tip it was $20 for the congee and fried dough. It was an ok meal and the place felt really clean, but I dont know if I can justify the cost. Id say worth a try to see if its your preference but be prepared because its cash only! The servers were really kind and attentive!

The porridge was good and savory. The grilled fish combo with vermicelli and veggie was not bad. 3 things I don't like: The tables are not clean. Cash only. No rules for the waiting list. I waited 20 minutes for my table but some Vietnamese came after me and just took the table out of blue. Shameless!

Fish porridge here is the best. I have tried many other places’ fish porridge, nowhere this delicious. The price here is very reasonable too! I love the seafood rice, the bak choy in there fresh and yummy! Love this place very much !!

The food is pretty good! They don't really like white people so, I don't go there often. The food is good though! I don't like the racism there so; I went to the sandwich shop down the street.

The ambiance and environment is unassuming, but don't let it fool you. This place serves a spectacular Long Cha Ca Thanh Long. You'll be hard pressed to find anything like this in the East Coast, and have only been able to find this in the West Coast. This BBQ fish dish is sure to please with it's sizzling flavors and topping for herbs and onion, served with it's bed of lettuces and mint / sesame leaves and onion. A must try w ur visit. The congee here is reminiscent of of how old country solid congee should be. whether it be, the kidney, fish, or other; have it with a fried cruller and it'll make you feel back home. The pan fried / house chow mein, is standard and hits all the notes.

Really delicious Cantonese Vietnamese food my food foodie friend took me to for my birthday. If you can communicate it with the server, ask for the fish raw on the side for the fish porridge (our server only spoke Vietnamese and broken English) - that way the fish is as tender as possible when you eat it. Surprisingly, even though they use tilapia or catfish (I'm not sure which), I didn't taste any of that fishy taste I usually hate with bottom feeders. Everything was excellent. Don't forget to get the fried crullers/dough to go with the porridge! See pictures for more mouth watering. Parking lot is large but shared with a lot of other businesses in the plaza, so I had to park somewhat far away.

Their Beef Congi / Porridge is awesome, but the rest is based on your appetite!
