"The sign above this Chinese Vietnamese restaurant indicates the amalgam of cultures blending inside. Vietnamese, English, and Cantonese characters are posted on the bold red marquee up front. The restaurant’s interior is more modern, with industrial-style metal chairs and pendant lights hanging above plush booths. Canton Restaurant serves fried rice, various noodle dishes, and wontons. But the reason why most people visit is for the porridges. There are 10 different varieties — the Canton House special porridge combines chicken, fish, shrimp, and squid; the salted pork with preserved egg is another classic.
