Cantoro Italian Trattoria Closings Its Troy Restaurant - Eater Detroit

"The sprawling restaurant closed its doors on September 29 without notice, the Detroit Free Press reports. A rep for the Italian market and restaurant mini chain attributed the shutter to a bad location, difficulty with staffing, and low sales during Cantoro’s lunch service." - Brenna Houck

I've been to the Canton location several times and had good experiences, however post-opening day 7 (Sunday dinner) service was still really struggling. Very slow, incorrect food, 2/5 dishes coming out 5-10 mins before rest of table's food, server no where to be found for 5-10 mins at a time, other tables visibly aggravated for similar reasons. I will give them another shot in a few months, hopefully by then the kinks will be worked out.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal with my husband. The tagliatelle bolognese is fantastic as well as the salmon which is served similar to a cioppino. Beautifully decorated inside. The patio has a Tuscan-esque garden setting with outdoor seating. The service was superb. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience during our first visit to Cantoro Troy! The service was excellent - our server was very attentive and made sure that we were well taken care of. The food was phenomenal!! From the appetisers to the pasta and risotto that we ordered - everything was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back many times in the future.

This is definitely not the Tre Monte service we have come to expect over the years. Our server seemed uninterested in serving us, as if he just wanted us to leave. The bottom of the wine bottle should have been filtered a little bit better than this. I must have drank more than this, it was like chewing my wine. I expect some sediment, but come on.

Great wine selection Nice ambience. I tried the risotto. Wasn't as good as the ones I tried in Italy but a fairly good attempt

What an incredible experience, thanks to Mauro and the staff of Cantoro. They provided our 20+ member group with a night we will long remember and hasten to plan our next event there. The food was without a doubt the most exquisite Italian cuisine I personally have ever had the pleasure to experience. And, all of my group will heartily agree. Everything was spot on perfect - and exceeded our expectations of a pleasurable dining experience. It was simply outstanding. All this, paired with the unwavering attention of our server, Christopher - made the evening nothing short of magnificent. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant and their staff! I for one, now have a new favorite Italian restaurant - Cantoro Italian Trattoria! My hat's off to you, Mauro - thank you so much for hosting us and making our evening so utterly enjoyable in all aspects!

Cantoro Trattoria was good but not great. We went there tonight for my wife and sister in laws birthday. The pasta was very chewy and undercooked. I couldn't eat it after eating a couple bites. The chewiness of the pasta took away from any flavors of the sauce My wife had chicken and it was very bland. Informed the reservation team twice that we wanted a 7 pm appointment and they booked us for 7:15 and they did not acknowledge their birthdays with anything special even dessert. We dropped almost $225 for 5 people. At the end of the day felt very under appreciated. The food was overpriced for the quality of what I received and I wasn't asked if I wanted a half order or a full order of pasta. When your spending over $20 for a pasta dish and not getting any thing to go with it that's not good. You guys did a great job with your inside of your building. It's a very beautiful place to take somebody but I think the food and value of what you get is a big letdown. I would highly encourage you to add more to your plate and recognize important dates.
