Best Pool Bars in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"The Canvas Hotel Pool offers an array of events with tickets available on weekends at various price points, and sometimes there are discounts for early birds who buy in advance. It’s more of a pool party than a family-friendly spot. The infinity pool overlooks the Cedars, and its rooftop service includes tinga chicken nachos, steak salad, a burger, Buffalo chicken flatbread, and more. Grab a cocktail like the Berry Peachy (whiskey, peach puree, and ginger beer) or a Green With Envy (gin and Midori), or take your pick from the wine and beer selection." - Courtney E. Smith

Beautiful View, but Hospitality Fell Short Canvas Hotel Dallas was, unfortunately, underwhelming for me. From arrival to departure, the service left a lot to be desired. There was no concierge service when I arrived, and after asking a staff member for help with my luggage, I was left waiting outside in the sweltering Dallas heat — only to eventually go find a cart myself. While free parking is a perk, the setup is chaotic and hard to navigate. My room, #516, had a stunning skyline view at sunrise — a real highlight. The hotel itself is a modified historical building with charm, and the bathroom was nicely done. However, there were tacky, aggressive signs all over the property warning guests not to bring in outside food or drinks, which felt unwelcoming. I also slipped and fell in the shower, so please take care — the surface is slick and seems unsafe. The front desk staff seemed largely disengaged, which didn’t help the overall experience. That said, I’m giving two stars — not one — because of Clara, a lovely housekeeping staff member who found personal items I left behind and made sure they were safely returned. Her honesty and kindness were the bright spot in an otherwise disappointing stay.

The hotel was fabulous but I wish is had been more clear that the rooftop pool would close at 8 pm for minors. Part of why we picked this hotel was for the rooftop experience. We were gone all day and planned to sit by the pool in the evening and enjoy the view. I have no issue with the concept of having the area be 21+ at night but feel like it should be clear in the advertising. I would highly recommend this hotel to adult only groups.

Amazing stay. Super grateful for Cyrus who accommodated my early check in. Great rooftop bar with an amazing pool and view. Beautiful rooms. Attentive service. Only downside was a little noisy in the hotel but worth it with the fun activities happening daily.

We had an event to go to and decided to stay the night in Dallas and CANVAS Hotel happened to be next door so we booked a room for the night. This is one of the best places we have stayed at. The colorful art mixed with elegance and modern style made it simply beautiful. Then we went upstairs where the view was amazing, to say the least. Honestly, the vibe it gave throughout the entire Hotel, you didn't have to go anywhere else. CANVAS Hotel has it all, food, drinks, DJ and a roof top bar. We will definitely be coming back.

Google
Such a well designed and aesthetically pleasing hotel. The staff were so lovely and helpful. The rooms were super cool, spacious and clean, but they were noisy. We were on the fifth floor and were picking up all the noise from the street and the rooftop. The fridge in the room along with the aircon were very noisy throughout the night. Wanted to relax by the pool but there was a DJ with obnoxiously noisy beats. The food at the restaurant was great too. Overall a great hotel despite the noise elements.

The hotel's unique construction and build set it apart from the standard hotel experience, with a warehouse-inspired aesthetic that, although unusual, is not uninviting. Nonetheless, the hotel's notable loudness is a considerable disadvantage. The ability to hear every minor sound within and around the hotel can be distracting. Therefore, if you require a peaceful and serene environment for rest, this hotel may not be ideal. The persistent sounds of traffic, sirens, music, and rooftop gatherings, in addition to internal noises, can be disruptive.||The bed was comfortable, but the headboards squeak and are noisy! |The bathroom had led lighting with a shower, sink, and toilet. The room came equipped with a safe, iron, ironing board, refrigerator, coffee machine, and complimentary bottled water. ||The hotel staff were welcoming and attentive! The rooftop pool is quite small, but nice view of the city. They host many events at the rooftop, so keep that in mind if you’re a guest. I ordered room service; wings and fries, and the wings were just OKAY, nothing special.||The restaurant next door- 5Bar, serves fantastic food!

My husband and I decided to visit the Canvas Hotel to celebrate our 17 year anniversary. Upon arrival, everyone was really nice and accommodating. The room was very nice and gave off a vintage charm which we enjoyed. They gave us wristbands to wear if and when we decided to go swimming so we put them in a small pouch before we got to our room. Once we put on our swimsuits, we grabbed the pouch and went upstairs to the pool area. As my wife was putting down her towel and heading to the pool, a young employee by the name of Courtney raced up to us asking about the pool bracelets and if we were guests. As we grabbed our bracelets, we noticed that there were several other people of different race (white) who were in the pool without bracelets. My husband went to file a complaint at the bar. A young man stated that he would correct it as soon as possible. Just then Courtney walked up and my husband informed her of the other people without bracelets who were at the pool. She said she didn’t make her rounds to check but the people were already in the pool when she came to check us about the bracelets. She then came to me and said she didn’t see anyone and asked me to “point them out”. I was so furious and ashamed. It still doesn’t sit right with me and since then I have tried to contact the hotel to speak with a manager but have not heard a reply yet.

We recently hosted our company’s first-ever summit at the Canvas Hotel, and it was nothing short of incredible. From the very beginning, we worked with Jessica, the Sales Director, who was an absolute dream to partner with. She was organized, communicative, and went above and beyond to make sure every detail was in place for a smooth and successful event.||||The hotel itself is beautiful—stylish, intimate, and perfectly laid out for both large group activities and small moments of connection. It felt like everything was just a few steps away, which made logistics effortless and helped our team stay engaged and connected throughout the weekend.||||The staff made the experience even more special. Erika, Larry, and Timothy were phenomenal—attentive, warm, and always ready to help with a smile. Erika in particular went above and beyond, ensuring every need was met with care and efficiency. She is a gem for the Canvas and I truly hope you all keep her on board for a long time! ||||On a personal note, I had some of the best sleep I’ve had in a while—the beds were incredibly comfortable and the rooms peaceful. Housekeeping was excellent throughout the stay—timely, thorough, and kind.||||Every aspect of our time at the Canvas contributed to the magic that unfolded. Our team left feeling more bonded, inspired, and aligned than ever. We couldn’t have asked for a better space—or better people—to support this milestone for our company.||||Highly recommend the Canvas Hotel for any group event or personal stay. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
This was a decent nights stay in a convenient location. The lobby is super cute and well appointed. Very cute decor and multiple seating options. The front desk is not overly eager to help, but get the job done pleasantly enough. The rooms are very minimalist. Still cute but not wowing like you sometime get with a boutique hotel. They text you upon getting to your room asking if you need anything. I requested an extra comforter that I have still yet to get. LOL They have a cute pool and bar area upstairs. The outdoor patio area would have been cute to use and had heaters, but sadly none of them were on. They also have a small bar downstairs and a small private room off to the side. I expected this place to be able to at least make specialty coffees and lattes, but nope. JUST drip coffee. The valet is a definite need because there is no where near to park unless you luck up in the share lot across the street or the dark alley behind the hotel. The valet guys were very nice and brought my car around quickly. If you need your car after hours, someone from the front desk will hand you your keys to grab your own car. Which isn't a big deal because it's in the parking lot of the hotel. Based on location and cleanliness, I would stay again. It was super close to everything I went to that made ubering inexpensive. But it did lack a wow factor for me, but great if you don't require much!

Yelp
The hotel in general is great, minus the noise. I stayed in a suite on the 2nd floor facing downtown and the bar/restaurant across the street was consistently noisy during evening hours until a short time after they close. The loft style rooms are a nice esthetic, but the exposed plumbing in the room above was not muffled at all. Every time the toilet was flushed, it sounded like a bucket of water was dumped on my bathroom floor. I would not recommend staying here unless you are able to get a top floor room, or are hard of hearing. On a positive note, the staff were super kind and helpful throughout my 4 night stay and the hotel was consistently cleaned and tidy. It was a great hotel minus the noise issues.

Yelp
I came here for the views, sunsets, great company, drinks and catch up with friends! This was the perfect way to end a day. I loved this rooftop! Not only is there free parking but the sunset views are fabulous! I highly recommend this place! Not to mention the swimming pool is absolutely amazing!

Yelp
This is a great hotel with a very lively, rooftop swimming pool. The bar adjacent to the pool has great bartenders and great cocktails and a good selection of craft beer.

Yelp
I'd stay here! This one slipped by me. Dallas is morphing so fast these days I can't keep up. This turn of the 20 th century building was turned into a NYLO hotel a few years ago. Recently rebranded as the Canvas. I toured the downstairs and roof areas to look at the art as part of the recent Cedars Art Walk. I'm glad I came here, as it just rose to the top of my Sta-Cation list. Great open and comfortable seating areas throughout. Pool table, shuffle board, big bar. The roof also has an inside and outside bar with heated pool and great downtown views. Check it out!

Yelp
Love this hotel. It was a fun find for a training in Dallas. Already have reservations to come back when it is warm enough to enjoy the pool.

Yelp
I didn't read the Yelp reviews before booking my stay here, and I'm glad I didn't because it seems I had a much better experience than a lot of the reviewers. Or maybe I'm just less picky? I stayed here for 4 nights. The industrial-chic decor didn't strike me as harsh; I quite enjoyed it and the bed was comfortable so honestly what else matters? The rate per night was less than most of what I could find in Dallas and the hotel was a short rideshare ride away from anything I wanted to see downtown. I see other reviewers complaining that the neighborhood is unsafe but I didn't feel that way. Especially with a police station across the street. I had drinks and dinner on the roof deck, which was crowded but had great views. And the food and drinks were good as well. I didn't mind the 20% gratuity being added to my check because it tells me that a lot of cheapa** people were leaving tips so low that management had to step in and add mandatory gratuity. If you see anyone complaining about automatic gratuity, know that they are the type of people who caused the problem. But I digress. I had breakfast in the dining area next to the lobby, and the food was good. The server was friendly and efficient but she seemed a little frazzled since she was the only one working at the time. I had a similar experience with the bartender on another night -- I went down to the bar to order room service and the bartender was really nice but then he (or the kitchen) got so busy it took him over an hour to bring my food up to my room. And why is that the bartender's job, anyway? The whole place seemed understaffed. But the food was excellent and the people were nice. There were a few items that need some touching up. The phone in my room didn't work which is why I had to walk down to the bar to order room service. Google Chromecast, which I was super excited to see on the in-room TV, didn't work at all. The pool was out of service while I was there. And the exposed pipes in my room looked cool but there was a loud running water noise going through them at almost all times. All that being said, I would stay here again. Another tip: great little coffee shop across the street: Opening Bell Coffee.

Yelp
Urban, lively, and fun. Those 3 words describe Canvas to a T!! You step in and from the moment you enter you have a warm feel of the hotel. I was here for rooftop yoga (if you know you know) on Saturday morning. And frankly I can't wait to come back!! Wish they did this EVERY Saturday. This is an ideal place to stay also if you are in the immediate area for a work trip and/or conference. For the most part the area feels pretty safe and I believe they have their own parking. I did park on the street without any worries though. The rooftop pool is wonderful, some of that area is under construction so hopefully they will rectify soon. Rooms look fully furnished and cute. Lobby is ideal to hang with clients or friends. But if you are staying here be SURE to go to the rooftop and get a view of that skyline. It's one of the best rooftop views I've seen in quite some time.

Yelp
I really want to love this hotel, but they make it hard. It's a perfect locale for any shows at South Side Music Hall, which is what brought us to stay. Super limited parking, and on Fridays and SAturday you HAVE to valet- for $30 which was insane to me (you aren't even in the heart of downtown). The hotel lobby is very bougie and artsy and pretty and lovely, even if the check in counter is the widest counter I've ever seen and the front desk worker basically had to chuck my keys at me. Our room was definitely spacious and the bed huge and comfortable. I also really enjoyed the lobby bar and the female bartender working there around 5 pm is super cool and welcoming. But...First of all, this was a special occasion which I made sure to tell the hotel pre-check in and they acknowledged back via text. At check in- nothing. Im not necessarily expecting free anything, but a happy birthday would have been cool. The hallways in that place are so dark you almost feel like you're in haunted house. Very jarring. The room has zero full length mirrors- so we have to go out into the hallway repeatedly to check our reflections out there and other than the bathroom mirror you are shi*t out of luck. So if you're having a girl's night....bring extra mirrors. And WHAT is the deal with those bathroom doors?! They're barn doors on a sliding track and ours wouldn't even shut all the way! You might as well just put the toilet in the middle of the room because you can hear and see like everything. Due to the cavernous ceilings and thin walls- You. Can. Hear. Everything. And I mean everything. Every time someone walked, or was in the hall, or closed a door. Not only do you hear it, but it's LOUD and like echoes. I think I just expected a bit more for like $300 an night. When you stay at a "cooler" boutique hotel, you expect the small touches and this place was devoid of that.

Yelp
The rooftop pool view is amazing!!! The rooms a re absolutely beautiful and spacious. My teen loved the aesthetics of the hotel.

Yelp
We came to Dallas for a weekend trip and wanted to try something outside of the conventional hotels. Hotel parking is severely limited before you have to use the valet service. These spots are all shared within other businesses and the rooftop bar. Interior is nice and modern and is really clean. Security is pretty good with the keycard being the only way to access the elevator. The rooms were industrial urban yet unique. The room we were in could have used a couple of maintenance touch ups due to loose fixtures. The exposed pipes caused for some condensation issues when using the showers. However if you're gonna sleep here that's almost out of the question. It should have been a red flag when at check in we were repeatedly reminded about a party policy and not to party hard and to make sure not to exceed guest counts. The walls make everything echo in the hallways. We heard guest coming in and out shouting laughing and partying up and down the hallway corridor. Till about 3 am we could hear in our room every time somebody showered or flushed the toilet. Now mind you the rooms echo too so hearing all the sounds just kept us up. If you're going to plan on getting rest here try another hotel. If you're going to celebrate and party this would be your hotel.

Yelp
Took a solo trip to Dallas from Ohio and felt safe at This location. They had lime scooters out front and I was able to ride to deep ellum in 9-12 min on the scooter. The view was amazing at night and sunsets the yoga class in the morning was a little in the way when trying to get in the pool in the morning but I only was putting my feet in. The security during the night bar hours was nice. I took my camera was told can't have it at night he held it and Checked on me. I stayed three nights. That's was not the plan but I went back after plans changed for my second hotels parking was free just have to ask for a pass.

Yelp
Cute & very clean hotel! The location was great, only downside was the pool is small and they were having a pool party, they made it seem as though it was private so we didn't go until it was almost over. The drinks are wayyy too expensive. We got two margaritas for over $40. View was definitely a plus!

Yelp
We have been regular almost weekly customers here for over 10 years , long before it was the Canvas , it was the N Y L O . I have developed a relationship with the front desk employes and they are part if not most of the reason we continue to come back time and again. When we are in Houston we stay at the Houstonion and ocasionally the Post Oak and in other citys we are fortunate to be able to stay at premium hotels . The Canvas is a retreat for us because the laid back atmosphere . The trouble i tend to have here isnt with the hotel but the valet people they have on weekends. Jacob that works the front desk is always good to let valet know that because my truck was broken into here , they always allow me to park in the front drive , partly because of the incident i had and partly my truck is a double cab dueley that valet guys are not acustom to . I still Pay valet fees and also tip the guys 20 bucks or more so im not asking for privelages but common sence in my mind anyway would be that hotel guest shouldnt take back seat to the club patrons that get parked from one end to the other in the front entrance . Valet tells me they will leave at 2 so ive been down here since 1 to park where i tipped the guy to park and where the hotel allows me to park , not that i am special but i spend and have spent many thousands here and the truck i drive is what thieves look for. Its happens in houston also in the valet of the Houstonion . They break the rear drivers side window and it cost me another day out of town plus having to find someone to replace the glass . So when i explained this to the valet guy and that i dont think club patrons should get parking at the front door to the hotel over hotel guest his reaponse was Why is that ! This is the fourth ir fith time ive had to deal with this or them demanding i hand iver my keys . Im sure this sounds like i think im supose to be privelaged or get special treatment , im not , but the hotel is good to me because im a loyal regular customer and stay in hotels so often its a relief to stay here and be treated like family . I have to meet a customer in plano at 8 am and its now 2:15 am . The guy let me know he parked the club patrons cars in the front then escorted me in my truck to the back of the lot thats difficult at the least to manuver and park instead of moving a car that the owner is leaving in as soon as ths bar closes. My goal is to relax , sleep and get the reat i paid for !

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay. The art in the hotel makes the experience unique and special. I enjoyed to learn more about the pieces that were everywhere, including in our room. It was a very convenient location to an event we had at the Gilley's in Dallas, we could just walk there. Parking was free, very small spots and no valet parking. We had dinner at the rooftop lounge. Very pleasant and we enjoyed a beautiful Texas sunset with the city view in the background by the pool. We ordered lemon pepper chicken strips and a spinach with cherry tomatoes flat bread. Food was ok. Our room was very nice. King size bed with a rustic flooring and ceiling. Mid century decor. Modern bathroom with a nice shower. It is a different hotel and experience, we would stay there again. We really enjoyed our stay. The art in the hotel makes the experience unique and special. Yelp
My experience here was memorable that's for sure. I truly enjoyed the rooftop dining experience. No, we didn't have to stay at the hotel to enjoy this scenery, great food, and let's not forget our drinks. Everything was great, I surely will return.

Yelp
I've stayed here a few times, and each time I do, I wonder why I haven't learned my lesson. The good: very cool design/decor, great rooftop pool and view. But that's about it. The bad: this is probably the loudest hotel you will ever experience. If sleeping soundly is important to you, this isn't your place, because you can hear everything from the parties on the rooftop pool, to half-drunk guests arriving after their downtown shenanigans, to folks having conversations just outside the entrance to the lobby so loudly that you wonder if they all might be hearing-impaired. Of course, this is to say nothing of the sounds of the woman in the room above you who's getting railed--but I have to confess that was actually pretty hot. The water pressure in our shower was weak, and the sink in the bathroom wasn't draining very well. The Google Chromecast function basically requires a degree in IT to get it to work properly, and when it finally does, your phone will link to TVs in other guest rooms that aren't yours--though we did have fun streaming "Worst Roommate Ever" to your room, folks in 301--sorry if we interrupted whatever *you* were trying to watch. The bathroom door doesn't latch, doesn't lock, and there's no fan. I have to agree with other reviews about the food--it's not great. And while the drinks indeed have been pretty good, be prepared for $17 cocktails on the rooftop bar. I realize inflation is bad, and while Lord knows I blame Biden for most of it, I'm not sure he's responsible for the fact that drinks here cost $5 more than they should. Lastly--and I just can't find a nice way to say this--the general clientele of this place seems rather douchey. If all these negatives seem tolerable to you, knock yourself out--but this was my last stay. Update: it's now 4:15am and there is another very loud group talking just outside the lobby entrance. Every room on the first three floors on this side of the hotel can hear them. WTF? I called the front desk when this was a problem at 1:45am. The phone rang 25 times with no answer. Finally, I got a call back at *3:30am* saying "this is the front desk, sorry we missed your call, I was on break." For two hours in the middle of the night? What kind of operation is this, exactly? Down to one star now.

Yelp
The vibe and aesthetic of this place is super cool. We didn't stay long, just a quick over night stay for a concert next door, so didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel or lounge areas but loved the room and theme of the hotel. Only cons we experienced were bad water pressure, shower was hard to turn on and the parking was really lacking. Plan to stay again if we're going to be in the area.

Yelp
Feel quite conflicted about this hotel. We stayed midweek so it was quiet. Our room was spacious and nicely- is sparsely - appointed in a mid century loft feel. The front of house staff were super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed chilling by / in the pool with some cocktails and the city view. So from that point of view - pretty positive. But - communication with the hotel pre and post stay was terrible - they just don't respond. Considering the premium positioning and price, our bathroom and toiletries were very basic (more like a cheap inn & suites type) and really they could have installed a proper bathroom door rather than a barn door.

Yelp
Super cute and hip hotel that is a short Uber ride to cool parts of town. I LOVED the hotel decor and if I were rating on that alone, definitely a 5 star hotel. However, this place has so many shortcomings, it's hard to believe I paid anything over $100 to stay here. The rooms were spacious and well decorated but you can hear every conversation and sound through the vents and they could use a SERIOUS deep clean. The lamps all had dust on them, nasty food stains in the fridge, the floors felt sticky and the bathroom was horrid. The wooden vanity had water damage and looks as if it's about to split from the sink. The shower heads had all types of build up and water stains were visible on the shower walls. Other peoples hair all over the place, rust, grime, and a weird hole in the wall really complete the "you might get murdered here" vibe. Using the elevator requires your room key which is a joke because it doesn't work 80% of the time, so enjoy the 5 minutes you'll spend on the elevator trying to get up to your room every time. The area where the hotel is located has some sketchy components, but at least you'll feel safe in a nice hotel right? Try again Lol My door wouldn't lock! Since I was headed out I let the front desk know but felt very uneasy just leaving my room unlocked and hoping that it'd get fixed while I was out so I decided to take everything of value with me. I'm sad I didn't have time to checkout the rooftop bar but the views from the room were nice all on their own (the windows could do with a cleaning). I booked through a 3rd party and am very curious if they reserve the nicer rooms for guests who book through Hotel Canvas directly. There's no way people who are leaving 5 stars stayed in the same room I did. With all of that being said, the staff was the bright spot of my stay. They were super helpful and made me feel at ease.

Rochelle Z.

Yelp
This place is pretty lame, they do not use fitted sheets, so you are laying on the same mattress pad that everybody else touches, I found cigarette burns in the blankets, and the pool is under construction. It is pretty disappointing because this place looks like it might be kind of funky and fun, but I found it to be just kind of shabby and unclean.

Yelp
Comfortable Stay! Great view of the City! We were very close to the State Fair which was the main part of our trip.Close to the Dallas World Aquarium & Zoo which we also visited. Nice Rooftop Pool & Bar. The hotel itself reminded us of the loft from New Girl & or The Daredevil series lol

Yelp
I stayed at this location while it was under construction. The constant noise at night was not pleasant. Although the rooms were cute, that's pretty much all that was good. I forgot an item in the closet, made multiple calls and no call back. I finally stayed on the line as they searched and they stated they didn't have it. It was an expensive suit that I forgot and honest hotels would have returned it. Never have I forgotten something where it wasn't returned. I'm very disappointed because it was my favorite suit for work. Needless to say I won't be staying here ever again.

Yelp
Holy cow this place is bad. You name it, it's awful. Let's start with the staff. Incompetent, rude, snarky. Housekeeping is nonexistent. I reported this to front desk staff and the next day housekeeping still didn't come. Loud club on roof (don't stay on the upper floors). Loud club next door (don't stay on that side of the building or near it, on the top or bottom floors). Parking lot is small and it's hard to find parking. There's no real restaurants in walking distance. The room has a hollow echo. The hotel is neither for comfort nor business, its for people looking to party. It has no gym but allows you to use the one across the street. That's not a saving grace though, that gym has no cleaning mechanisms, no wipes, sprays, nothing, and it's small and crowded. There's also the daily "resort fee," lest you thought the price was a positive. Couldn't wait to leave this place in the dust.

Yelp
No USB charging ports. There was very little lighting in the very dark room. Room was underneath the 6th floor roof bar, which closes at 11:00 p.m., and the closing down of the bar area was loud above the 5th floor room. Coffee maker was not left by the staff to be set up properly. There was no coffee available downstairs at 5:30 a.m. There was no response to text message regarding the coffee maker. The electricity went out without warning at approximately 7:30 a.m., and remained out for the remainder of time in the room. There was no response to the text messages regarding the electricity. Front desk person did not answer the phone when called about the electricity. Front desk person hid in the office rather than be available at the desk to answer questions. No one came to each room to let guests know what was happening. Front desk person hid in the office and did not come out when trying to check out and get receipt. Did not receive any information re: the electricity outage until 9:23 AM, a full hour after I had checked out and left the hotel. The follow up texts and email had excuses, including untruths regarding power outage on "the block," which could not be true, as there was lighting in the hallway and in the stairwells. Was asked, "what can we do to make this right?" - Really? How about the idea of making it right without asking.

Yelp
The staff was great!!! HOWEVER, consumer/buyer beware. I have not come across such unethical practices from a business establishment in awhile. If you plan on hanging out at the rooftop pool/bar and having drinks, check your receipt in detail. After staying at the hotel for two nights, I noticed on multiple different receipts a (20%) up charge (see receipt). Very unprofessional.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place. I've been going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. Great decor and design, great view, mostly great staff. The room was nice, but very industrial and minimalist, with very little sound proofing, which isn't great since the place basically turns into a nightclub every night. It really depends on what you're staying here for and what kind of place you like. I came for business and I was hoping to relax and enjoy the pool but can't really with a constant party raging around you. I also invited a bunch of friends for dinner on the rooftop and they were somehow out of 90% of the food, it was all delivered pretty late, and it was just not good food. Breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was delicious and other than the rooftop restaurant, the staff were all amazing. I don't think I will be returning, especially for the price.

Yelp
Great hotel! The king size bed was comfy and the room was super cute. I love all the decor and the front desk was super sweet. The rooftop pool did not disappoint especially with the private party. We will definitely stay here again! It was a wonderful place for our anniversary.

Yelp
The location has an industrial feel and decor. Unfortunately, we never had the chance to enjoy the restaurant, bar or pool area as there was a private event during our stay. The bed is large, and comfy (at least I thought so). A very nice large shower, with your usual basic amenities were available. Towels were basic too. I can't say that I thought the rugs in the room were totally clean. I seemed to have brought some dirt/hair from my feet into the shower. So, that could have been better. The furniture in the room was very basic and low grade. It looked like it came from a 90's university dorm room. Would I stay again? Yes.

Yelp
We took a chance on this place from a Reddit recommendation. It's potentially one of the worst excuses for a hotel in Dallas. Oh, and the great scenic rooftop pool and view is definitely about as cheesy as it gets in Dallas. It's open to the public and just sad sad sad. The food is awful, service non existent. I'll add more later as we're stuck here for 2 night.

Yelp
Can't express how much we loved this hotel. Got an accessible room for our first night - soooo big. Loved the decor and retro fridge. Food great. Rooftop bar really cool too. Had to leave to go to a suburban Marriott for a wedding for a night and then went back to Canvas for last night in town. Had dinner in restaurant - great food and even better service. Every town needs a Canvas!

Yelp
Not really what we expected when arriving for our weekend staycation... The building was already a let down before going in. Place looks like it hasn't been fixed in a while. Was looking forward to the pool area but it was so small and too packed and people were pouring alcohol in the pool during early day. Never again Also this place doesn't seem family friendly definitely not the pool area only saw older couples. Resembles a motel more. Very tacky

Yelp
I am so impressed with the service prior to my check-in that I want to leave a five star review already. This review is specifically to thank Benjamin for his help with special requests I had for my reservation. I was able to get answers very quickly using the hotels text messaging system. It was a very convenient and easy way to communicate prior to check in. Benjamin could not have been any more accommodating or any nicer with my requests. Thanks Benjamin, I look forward to my stays at the Canvas hotel.

Yelp
Disclaimer: This review is strictly about the food service we received on the rooftop. An org I'm a part of organized a meet up here on the rooftop. When I've come to Canvas I normally don't get food, just come for the ambience and drinks. After this experience it may stay that way. My friend and I ordered a shrimp flatbread (tasted meh) and the tuna wonton dish. I'm not sure what other areas of the hotel the kitchen services but the rooftop was not busy and somehow it still took over 30 minutes to get our food. My friend was given the wrong order and ended up just canceling her tuna dish. The craziest part is that her dish is basically raw tuna on a cracker, how it took over 30 minutes and still didn't come out is beyond me. No apology or explanation from the server she just gave my friend her card back. Canvas is great for good times in the summertime but I'd eat somewhere else before you come.

Yelp
The Good: Our stay started out very pleasant. The valet was friendly, as was the front desk staff. The decorating was cute, they followed through with their art theme, throughout the lobby, the rooms, the hallways. The Bad: our stay completely changed on Saturday night. The guests seemed to become much trashier, they allowed people from outside the hotel to buy wristbands for the Pool party. The party was packed, and looked like COVID central with not a mask in sight. The elevators and hallways reeked of marijuana. They do have a beautiful pool area with a rooftop bar, but we didn't feel safe after Saturday. We dined up there on Friday evening. They have a very limited menu and bring your food covered with plastic containers for sauces and plastic silverware. Which cheapens the experience, especially since that seems to be the only COVID item still in place, since masks don't seem to be a concern (even though they still have the signs). Not even the valet drivers were wearing masks. To top off our Saturday night, we received a call from the front desk, only stating the valet needed to talk to me. I went down, only to be pointed to the valet. They stated they hit my car on a crane, and gave a very nonchalant apology and stated their manager would be contacted." I said "how bad is it?" They stated it was minor fender damage, however the whole trunk lid had been pushed in. I went down to the front desk in the morning, spoke with Stacey. She was lovely and apologized for our stay being ruined. Offered to call the valet manager and the hotel manager. She stated the hotel manager would be calling me within 24 hours. I went down to the front desk, Monday morning, before our check out to ask if the manager had been notified, as I still had not been called. The ugly: The manager was very unapologetic and nonchalant. He said "yeah, I know about it." Not "I am so sorry this happened," etc. Followed by "we have a third party valet service, have you contacted them?" This, on top of feeling like we couldn't leave our room, after we got back on Sunday. One of the couples that seemed to come for the Pool party was fighting in the hallway, and the man was throwing her stuff at her and telling her to go to the lobby. I mentioned it to the manager, and all he seemed to care about was if security had to come to break it up and then brushed it off, as well. I guess maybe he is used to that type of clientele, but that was not what we signed up for on Friday. The Friday guests seemed much more professional and adult. The only thing that I could fault them on was some of the lounge furniture that they went cheaper knock offs, especially the poofs for additional seating that were collapsing on themselves. It looks like they followed the Interior designer's concept, but ordered some of their pieces from Wish, instead of the full priced ones. Overall, our experience started out great! Then, it turned into just bad and ugly. If you go, I would not recommend a weekend.

Yelp
Blown away! This boutique hotel is a surprise and total delight. The service from moment we walked up to the door till the time we checked out was exceptional. Every person was friendly, personable and made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The decor is so fun and a little funky. The rooms remind me of a New York loft. The biggest surprise was the food. Flavorful and beautiful. Don't skip the rooftop bar, pool and fire pit and bring your camera for the amazing sunsets. Highly recommend .

Yelp
Like others, a little conflicted about this hotel. Such a cool vibe and we loved the decor and industrial feel. We were there during the week so it was quite quiet. We had such a nice time sipping cocktails on the rooftop bar and watching the stormy weather. Gina Nino our bartender was awesome - so personable and really made our evening special. The cons? The bathroom. I hated it with a passion. A barn door that barely closes = zero privacy and the water pressure in the shower is terrible. The other annoying thing is the $20 amenities fee which pays for the "free" parking and Wi-Fi. So not really free parking.

Yelp
Just don't go on the weekend. The rooms are nice, bed was good, little resturant looked lovely but wow the crowd was huge and ghetto. Is lists rooftop pool and bar as an amminty for the guests but you can't use the pool if you wanted and your kids really can't due to the 1-6pm party they throw every weekend. The pool is standing room only, the music loud and abnoxious. Did I mention your kids?! Between 1-6 you can't stay in your room cause the rap f bombs and thumping. We did get to lay around the pool from 11-1 the next day before the party started up again but didn't feel like they had time to drain the pool and bleach it and since we weren't planning on getting a tetanus shot anytime soon decided against getting in. It's a shame as it's great other than that.

Yelp
It's a cute boutique hotel and they typically have great rates. The rooms are spacious and clean. I've never had a cleanliness concern staying at Canvas. I've had a lot of staycations here and I always enjoy myself. Keep in mind this is not a 5 star resort so keep your bourgeoisie expectations at a minimum. The rooftop bar/ pool area is not that spacious. If you're going to Canvas during the day, just to enjoy the pool/bar area - I recommend getting there early to secure a good spot. The rooftop offers a nice view of the skyline. Good location to catch the sunset. After the pool closes the crack and rooftop bar are still open. Even without the pool I think it's a nice backdrop to grab some drinks before a night out. Considering the rates of the room and the fact that it's a boutique hotel I cut slack in a few areas. For one, the food is awful. There's not one thing that I've ever ordered here that I absolutely loved. For years, they can't seem to get the food right at this place. I've noticed some menu changes here and there, but it's just not good. I have no clue what the hell is happening in that kitchen. The last time I was there I ordered the wings. One order of the dry rub one order of Buffalo. The buffalo wings weren't fried hard enough and had that sort of slimy look to them. No crunch. I sent it back. The dry rub was actually crispy and was edible. Bland, yet edible. Basically eat before you go or you'll have to stomach something off that menu. No outside food or drinks allowed. During the weekends I believe there is usually a Dj. Otherwise I think it's just a Lofi playlist and it isn't played that loud. Honestly , it's not the best pool dallas has to offer but it's good enough. There's no cover/ day pass fee's and you don't need to be a guest to enjoy the pool facilities. They also keep a rotation of fresh towels available for anyone to use. There is no attendant, just grab a few towels and plop down wherever seating is available. One of my favorite parts of the pool is the soaking platform. It's shallow enough where you can sit or lay down without being fully submerged in the water. Whenever I visit the pool I usually just get a room and crash out after getting beat down by the sun. It's a good spot to keep in mind for last minute summer plans.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the worst places I've ever stayed in. EVER. I came here for a sales training and this is where they chose to have the group stay. However, I almost opted out the very first night. The hotel made a failed attempt at an artsy hotel but was slightly tacky and cheap looking. It had an odd smell. The rooms were nothing to write home about. The rugs that were in the room were so gross and looked 100 years old. And the noise?! Omg do not stay here if you are a light sleeper or do not own noise cancelling earphones. I legit did not sleep for 2 nights straight. There was something constantly running and making noise. I also felt like it was not in a good part of town which was then validated by the Uber driver who said "they must hate you guys for making you stay in this part of town." There's nothing to safely walk to. The hotel restaurant is nothing great. I would have rather eaten at a fast food chain. The only plus was the rooftop lounge that had decent drinks. I will never stay here again and HIGHLY recommend avoiding this place at all costs. Treat yourself and stay somewhere nicer.

Yelp
This review is for the rooftop pool. We had such a great time at the decks in the park summer party. The pool was crystal clean and the view of the city was amazing. There is a deck section where you can sit and order food and the indoor bar is quick with great drinks. Highly recommend if you're looking for a social pool to listen to music with friends.

Yelp
What a cute but low-key rooftop w/ a nice happy hour! Went here last Tuesday for a happy hour with the girls. Parking was a breeze, even w/ this being an actual hotel. Upon entering you have a lobby, then further up is the elevator. Even for my first time, it was quite easy to find. Once I got upstairs, I was shocked at the size, as in my mind I had imagined it to be bigger. That said, the bar was fairly empty so we started there. The customer service started off phenomenal, didn't know what to order, told her I liked tequila and she made something sweet but tasty. Score! Eventually more people from our party arrived, so we ended up grabbing a couple drinks and played catch-up. They have a reverse happy hour type of ordeal, and the wells are $5. That said, each time I wanted to order a new drink I had to get up and go to the bar, vs. for my friends, they'd come to them. Aside from that, the views were amazing. You can get a good view of the skyline, as well as the light up pool at night. Great date night, chill night, girls night and more. I cannot wait to return to this location. I'd also recommend eating before you get there, I didn't try anything on the menu but nothing jumped out at me either.

Yelp
The five stars are for the cleanliness and staff here. Andrew at the front desk went out of his way to make sure our sightseeing adventures were great. This hotel is a bit from the heart of the city and the historic area, but we walked it with ease. There were electric scooters to rent around the hotel too. Charles and Jay were super helpful when my son decided to get a haircut. Although my son is only ten, they spoke with him in the lobby and showed an actual interest in him. This was another example of staff going above and beyond the basics. Great rooftop experience. I would not suggest kids go up there after the pool closes. It is a full blown bar which seemed to be the host of birthday parties the night I visited. Basics to know: they do not have USB ports in all the rooms so come prepared. If you have kids and are going to a late game, pick up food before you get back. There was no place where my son could go because the restaurants in the area become bars. Final note, some of the Uber drivers explained that this area is not the best. I would disagree. It is in the midst of a transition. I am hoping more business enter that space soon.

Yelp
We visited the rooftop bar/pool/lounge area and it was such a cool, chill vibe. There was a DJ playing Top 40s with a relaxed vibe. There was ample seating around the pool and some private areas too. The indoor bar has a nice area with couches, perfect for a small group to have drinks. No one was swimming this night. The infinity pool was just a nice fixture, and it added to the perfect skyline view.

Yelp
I loved staying at the Canvas. With a mid-century modern meets Urban chic feel. The staff, hands down, extremely accommodating. The rooms were refreshing. The bedding was comfortable and the mattress perfect. If I were to stay in Dallas, I'd stay here again! Cons: the pillows were tiny.
