Had lunch yesterday at Canyon River Grill for my wife's birthday. Both the food and service were exceptional. My wife & I each had a cup of the "tomato broth" which is very hearty, loaded with tomatoes & onions, well flavored, and served piping hot with a slice of crusty bread from Essentia Bakery (Yakima, WA) on top smeared with a gorgonzola cheese spread. Very yummy. I am always disappointed when served luke-warm soup at any restaurant. This "broth" arrived at our table very hot, as it should, along with our Po Boy sandwich.
We are seniors & prefer small portions. So, we split the shrimp Po Boy sandwich. Our waiter suggested that one sandwich would probably be adequate. He was correct. The sandwich was huge by our standards...piled high with New Orleans style lightly battered shrimp, lettuce, tomato, a dill pickle slice or two, and a tasty sauce all mounded on a round, toasted, bun with a brioche-like texture, although the bun was not at all sweet as is brioche.
It was plenty of food, and no cost to split the Po Boy. Also, the "split" was done properly...two plates, each with 1/2 of the sandwich, each with a 5" swizzle stick to hold it all together, both plates served with a generous portion of hot, fresh, crispy, French fries, not oily, and very lightly salted...if any.
Worthy of mention is that I did not see any salt, pepper, or other condiments on any of the tables. If you think you need those, you are probably in the wrong restaurant. The food as served is properly seasoned. My opinion.
I really wanted to try the steak salad which has good reviews. That is on my list for next time.
