PLEASE AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!
I am writing this review because future travelers deserve to be warned.
I arrived at Cape Sienna Hotel on 30/01 and stayed until 07/02. Initially, I planned to stay there for my entire trip, but fortunately I booked in two-day intervals. That decision allowed me to leave earlier — because staying longer would have been impossible.
The staff at this hotel are far from professional. They are arrogant, aggressive, and completely lacking in customer care. The manager, Tony, in particular was extremely unprofessional.
On 04/02, my girlfriend and I had lunch by the pool. I ordered a pizza, and she ordered a pasta. There was glass in her pasta (photo attached). After eating my pizza, I became severely ill. About 20 minutes after finishing my meal, I felt dizzy and nauseous. Within an hour, I started vomiting. This continued throughout the entire day, night, and into the next day. I could not keep anything down — not water, fruit, or any food.
The following day we were scheduled to check out. Given how weak and sick I was, we requested a late check-out because I physically could not pack my suitcase. At reception, we tried to calmly discuss how to resolve the situation. Instead of support or empathy, we were met with aggression.
Manager Tony stated they would remove the meal from the bill (the one containing glass and the one that left me sick for two days), but we still had to pay for the drinks. That was not the main issue — the issue was the complete lack of responsibility and care.
We asked reception to call a doctor. A doctor was called — and then later cancelled. A five-star hotel should assist guests in a medical emergency. As Europeans in an Asian country, we rely on the hotel for guidance in such situations. We received none.
During the discussion, Tony repeatedly pointed at his watch, pressuring us to check out, while I was visibly pale and physically weak. Eventually, when we went back to our room to pack, I was physically pulled by my arm toward reception to sign the bill for the remaining two drinks. This was completely unacceptable.
All room payments had been made via Booking.com, and everything we had consumed prior to this incident had already been paid the day before. We are not people who look for drama or conflict — in fact, all of my previous reviews have been positive, written to support businesses.
However, this experience was beyond disappointing. After we called the police (because we saw no other option due to the aggression and lack of assistance), Tony escorted us back to our room and stood outside the door for 30 minutes while we packed our luggage. He mentioned he has been a manager for 10 years — which is difficult to understand given this level of behavior.
For nearly €300 per night (excluding food and drinks), this is unacceptable. A five-star hotel should provide safety, professionalism, and assistance in times of need.
If you want to enjoy Thailand and feel supported during your stay, I strongly advise you to avoid this hotel. No one should lose two days of their vacation due to unsafe food and complete mismanagement.
