"On top of the AC Hotel in downtown Asheville sits Capella on 9, which boasts expansive views of the city. The space opens for breakfast daily, if you’re looking to have your coffee and eggs on a rooftop. The bar opens at 4 p.m. with signature cocktails and a tapas-style menu. Catch live music on the weekends." - Brook Bolen

We went for a night out, cocktails and snacks while listening to the DJ. This is top floor rooftop of the hotel. Large bar area with many sections. Has an outdoor area too but it was raining so it was closed off. Service was excellent - they did a great job serving a table of 10! Kept things flowing and tended to our needs. DJ was spinning some great tunes. He was so gracious to play a couple songs we requested and take a group photo. Go for a cocktail or two and enjoy the scene.

If I could give 100 stars I would!! The atmosphere and ambiance is amazing! I ordered the salmon and it was flavorful and delicious. But our server Allie was the real reason for the 5 stars. From the time we entered she was polite and helpful. She found multiple dishes to accommodate our dairy allergy and she was one of the most genuinely sweet and courteous servers I’ve ever had! I will most definitely come back here every time I visit Asheville.

Google
This hotel has a good breakfast, well priced. The buffet seemed weak and so we did not bother with it but I had the breakfast tacos which were great. Complimentary drinks and such was great. Will eat here again, it’s just a shame that the elevators service the staff, parking and Guests. It’s a crazy setup.

Google
I was in the area looking for a bar and stumbled upon Capella on 9—and wow, what a pleasant surprise! The service was absolutely exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff making sure everything was perfect. The food was top-notch, with the latest flavors and a tapas-style menu that impressed me with every bite. The cozy atmosphere combined with the fantastic rooftop view of the city made the experience unforgettable. Whether you’re here for drinks, dinner, or just the ambiance, Capella on 9 delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend this hidden gem in downtown Asheville!

Google
Really enjoy the terrace. I slowly feel bad for a man who plays in the corner, but I feel like they are hired to play for ambience music really chill atmosphere the patio with high bar tops patio seating and fire to enjoy while having a beverage.

Google
We were really glad that we visit this kind of hidden spot in Asheville. Food was really good; we ordered 3 tapas: steak, papas bravas and the gnoccis, everything on point. The value you get for what you pay its really rare to find.

Google
I had a lovely dinner and cocktail while watching the sunset. It was truly magical! The food was perfectly seasoned and cocktail mixed to perfection. It was the perfect amount of food and I felt feeling full but light. The ambiance was incredible, and the sunset view spectacular. Wonderful for a lovely vacation dinner or date night. The prices were also reasonable for the quality of food and upper scale restaurant feel.

Google
The ambiance of the rooftop (especially at night) is phenomenal! Very beautiful. Allie was such an amazing server and the blackened salmon was 10/10!! Allie made sure that our non-dairy modifications were situated. I would 100% recommend this restaurant and definitely look forward to returning whenever I visit Asheville again.

Yelp
Awesome breakfast. Wasn't expecting a lot from a hotel restaurant but this one exceeded expectations! We picked the breakfast chorizo tacos and one breakfast buffet. Both were excellent. The breakfast chorizo tacos were served with some salsa on the side and a side of fruit. The chorizo was some of the best I have ever had. The two tacos were stuffed with lots of chorizo, eggs and guacamole. Excellent. The buffet was again awesome. A wide range of cheeses, fruits, deli meat...like those found in non US countries. Now let's talk about the BACON...best ever at a Marriott property. Keep up the good work Capella and AC Hotel Asheville. Highly recommend. Will return soon.

Yelp
Wrong time maybe? We wanted to come here for drinks and light bites and enjoy the view on the rooftop patio during our foodie night out in Asheville, but the patio was under construction so only part of it was open and the view was mostly construction zone. I have a feeling it will be amazing once completed. Our service was fine, nothing to write about really. As for food and cocktails, we had mixed reviews as well: Spanish Olives - basic - you could easily make this at home. Ceviche was decent, not the best I've ever had, but we did finish it. The Tuna was the star to me - I'd order that again anytime! Our cocktails were also good. I'd give this place a shot again when I'm in town next once the patio is complete, but I think I'd have to convince my ladies of that as they weren't as into it as other spots in town.

Doretta W.

Yelp
This was quite a mixed review. Pros: The service was very good. The steak was made perfectly to order. Cons: Wow loud place on the weekends. The blackberry smoke had so much heat I would not taste the tequila or the blackberries.

John M.

Yelp
The best dining experience in Asheville. I a bistro setting, even the back lanai was pleasant. Very friendly, full service, with changes for each course. On small hiccup on the selected wine, which came from an expansive and diverse wine list. Kudos to Executive Chef Ryan Kline! The menu changes frequently, and may be eclectic for some, but the food was executed perfectly, from Confit Mars Hill Mushrooms, to Pan Roasted Rainbow Trout and Honey Glazed Joyce Farms Duck; the last one of the most difficult birds to deliver.

Madeline T.

Yelp
The views are amazing from the rooftop and the wine pours were heavy! It wasn't busy so we didn't have to wait

Allison M.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning space to go to for a sunset. Very classy bar with a great drink selection and plenty of tables for setting. Did not check out their food but it looked pretty delicious. I ordered a Manhattan and opted for the classic. Probably should've got the smoked because I later saw they were the same price. The bartender seemed incredibly rushed, even though nobody was behind me. It was pretty small in size but tasted good. Nothing to write home about but definitely a solid choice and decently made cocktail. My partner got a Michelob ultra, which is also pricey, but you're paying for the environment for sure. A little overcrowded but definitely a wonderful place to take guests, and/or to have a date with an excellent view.

Charlotte T.

Yelp
This place is such a great spot!! The seating is first come first serve, so if you want a nice sunset spot, come early and hustle to get a good view. Service is great and food is wonderful. We sat here all night and enjoyed champaign and delish bites. We got the short rib - delicious. Definitely recommend this instead of the ribeye. The gnocchi was some of the best I've ever had, and the kale salad was decent (nothing special). I would 100000% recommend this place to EVERYONE visiting Asheville :) such a fun spot.

Lauren G.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful views on the rooftop. Be mindful of the weather, though- high winds can send you back inside. We ended up speaking with management when we visited as a result of some issues we experienced, and the management staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We shared a few menu items and everything was delicious. The crab cakes and short rib were the highlights. The drink menu has fun and unique options.

Kimberly S.

Yelp
I LOVE a rooftop during the summer. Lately I've noticed that a lot of rooftops are overhyped. Capella on 9 is not the case. I order the blackberry smoke cocktail. Great balance for a cocktail. I also ordered the Capella Burger and for once it was cooked the way I ordered, medium. A burger is NOT my go to but I was in the mood for one. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, cocktail, and food. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Asheville.

Tamara G.

Yelp
Beautiful view on rooftop of the AC Marriott hotel. We just had one round of drinks. Cool vibe. We had to track down a server, but did manage drinks for a party of 6 & we enjoyed a nice summer night and the view up there. Area inside is nice too. Did not get to try the food as we had just eaten elsewhere.

Mike W.

Yelp
It's one of the best rooftop bars/restaurants I've ever been to. I booked my hotel room 2 floors below, not knowing how great this little extra would be. My tequila cocktail didn't disappoint, and my bread pudding really didn't disappoint!! Time it right, and you get a phenomenal view of the sun setting behind the Smokey Mountains. No extra charge. I thought I got a video of UFOs while up here....(Yes, I had been drinking), but it turns out it was a line of Elon Musks Starlink satellites passing overhead. Still pretty cool to see and without the worry of being probed by aliens.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Nice little rooftop bar for a drink Must try the buttered popcorn drink! Bourbon was limited for straight pour Staff was great

Cindy F.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to try this place to celebrate her birthday. We hoped to catch the sunset, but it was a cold day and the outside heaters were turned off. It's still turnout out to be a great evening. We started off with drinks and EDAMAME. I wanted a lemon drop martini which wasn't on the menu but our waitress assured me they could make a delicious one for me. I decided to go with the SASQUATCH THE BOUNTY HUNTER , which didn't disappoint. My friend choose the RIDE OR CHA, and she loved it. We decided to not do plate sharing. I choose the GRILLED SALMON. It was recommended I order it medium rare, but I choose well done - delicious - cooked to my perfection. My friend had the BRAISED SHORT RIB. Oh my goodness - I had to have a taste - so delicious - next time that will be my choice. My friend ended the meal with Port & Storm. She loved it. Amazing place in Asheville - even though we didn't get to enjoy the outside rooftop bar, the inside was not a disappointment. Beautiful atmosphere. Our waitress was amazing - taking care of our every need, but not overbearing. Give it a try - you certainly won't be disappointed.

Rafael S.

Yelp
Had breakfast twice and drinks one evening. Service is attentive. Nice view and cozy ambiance. Had to take our Sangrias back to bartender for some extra simple sirup; service was very responsive. Morning manager is always on top of everything to get a great experience in the food and expedient service.

Yani C.

Yelp
Really nice rooftop in Ashville downtown. We had a couple of drinks and were entertained by the beautiful rooftop views of the mountains around. Nice spot to watch the sunset and enjoys the nice city vibes.

Indigo D.

Yelp
A nice experience. A hotel-ish vibe; a pretty hotel but not my favorite ambiance for a nice restaurant. The poached egg crabcake with potatoes was enjoyable, but I wished the eggs were more runny and with the crab cake had less breadcrumbs and more crab. The server was nice and laid back. I wouldn't specifically seek this place out for brunch again, but I'm curious to try their regular menu.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
The views are great at Capella on 9. I just dined here for breakfast and not dinner. The restaurant uses QR codes for the menu but they do have regular menus if you ask. Service was friendly. For the price, I went with the communal Spanish buffet each day as it included the beverages. Although I think I should have ordered off the menu for hotter food. The scrambled eggs on the buffet were cold both days. The first day I thought it was because mine had sat for a little while. But the second day this was not the case and they were still cold. So either the warmer isn't keeping them warm or they were made hours before. Besides the eggs, the buffet had fresh fruit; yogurt; bacon and sausage; cheeses and meats; croissants and breads for toast. I did like the fresh fruit and the croissants.

Cheyenne C.

Yelp
Very chic rooftop bar! This was our first stop on a bar tour and I loved the Moscow mule they gave us. Very light and refreshing, and paired well with the hot weather. Didn't try any food, but someone in my party did and it looked delicious. Views were gorgeous. Would visit again if in the area!

Cyndi H.

Yelp
Great place to come for a drink before dinner. The ambiance of the 9th floor roof top was amazing. The view of the city had a cool vibe. Skyline Mountain View is breathtaking. Ordered a Malbec and honeysuckle sour. Honey suckle sour was amazing . Highly recommend making a stop to enjoy a drink. The bartenders were fantastic.

Stacey P.

Yelp
Chic, trendy Capella on 9 has an amazing rooftop bar that is should be visited by everyone at least once. Killer views, a variety of seating, and segmented such that it never feels crowded Capella on 9 is fun in a high energy vibe way. I mean, they had a DJ at 5 PM on a Tuesday. That doesn't strike me as low key. I came here twice during my visit to Asheville and I loved it both times. The service is great - prompt and cheery - and the drinks were lovely. The Don't Bee Salty was my go-to drink here; the tequila was a nice twist on a Bee's Knees and it was bright and vibrant. I also really liked Kind of a Big Dill - it was different! This was the first time I saw a cocktail with dill as an ingredient and with the cucumber it was a very refreshing drink! The Cloudy Day in Bombay was a bit too subtle for me - I ended up trading this drink with one of my friends because while it was nice it wasn't grand. The view is great, drinks solid, and energy high this was a wonderful rooftop bar!

Cait D.

Yelp
I honestly am baffled by all the good reviews. This place is subpar. The views are all obstructed by buildings and can barely see the mountains, much better rooftop views elsewhere. The food is very hotel like and not worth the $$ and the service is meh. Don't recommend and disappointed we wasted our time here!

Alexis R.

Yelp
Rye cocktails aren't always my favorite but this was amazing! The views are gorgeous and what we did sample from the tapas menu was yummy!

Steve H.

Yelp
In the heart of downtown Asheville is this swanky rooftop bar/lounge. Great ambiance and good drinks and great service and amazing views! Didn't order any food but my drink was great. Decor was nice and just based off of looking at people's food it all looked fantastic.

Cristi F.

Yelp
If I could give them Zero starts I would. I want to mention that Us and a 4 party were sitting next to each other. We ordered and then the other table. I see my Wife gets her Beet salad as I wait for mine, Pan Plano if your wondering. Then not even 5 min later I see the other table gets theirs. No apps but main course. So bigger plates. I wait another 10 as I have to ask someone else to get our waiter as he hasn't checked on us once. It's now been over 50 min that we have been in this restaurant. He lets me know my dish is coming, as I tell him we are ready for the next order of actual Tapas to come. He takes my order and leaves. After another 15 I walk to a gentleman and ask for his manager he points me to the restroom. I ask for the manager again and it's him. I tell him that the table behind me has finished their meal the two new tables in front of me have gotten theirs and I'm still waiting for mine. All he says is I'm happy to comp your dish. Not a wow I'm sorry let's me see what I can do and what's happening. I can pay for my dish. As I'm asking for my bill all 3 dishes arrive as I'm supposed to eat everything at once and not actually enjoy them as they should. Do yourself a favor and go to Bouchon.

Hannah F.

Yelp
Great rooftop bar with incredible views! Wait staff was fantastic and food everything you would expect. Price point was worth it and serving sizes big. Would definitely come back!

Laura B.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning view, but the slowest most inept service I've seen in a long time. Waitress took our drink order and we told her we wanted food as well. After leaving the two beers she never came back. We sat there with no further acknowledgment whatsoever for at least half an hour after the beers were finished. This place already had my credit card number so we just walked out. Ridiculous.

Victoria S.

Yelp
I loved this rooftop bar, and apparently I'm not alone - the place was even crowded early on a Wednesday afternoon! There are two outdoor areas, connected by a large indoor space. The larger, "more hip" outdoor area has fire pits, heaters, couches, and tables directly facing the hills. Unfortunately, that side is not dog-friendly, but the smaller outdoor area with a city view allows dogs! I was still excited to be enjoying a rooftop bar with my dog, but just a heads up for those of you planning to visit with your pups that most of the pictures on Yelp are for the other side. We did get to enjoy some of the live music playing from the streets below though, so that was a bonus for the city side! The cocktails were delicious, but expensive, as you're definitely paying for the view and ambience. I tried Pear me the details and the Pom buck and really enjoyed both.

Ed B.

Yelp
First visit here. Came to check it out for possible future wedding rehearsal party. Views galore from two outside sitting areas. Jordan was an excellent server. Provided good recommendations. Crab cakes, beet salad with goat cheese and burger with potato wedges were delicious. Got there at 3:45 p on Fri and not busy until 4:30p. Be prepared for sun and wind if you are seated outside of the covered deck area.

Raymond G.

Yelp
I've been to Asheville a few times and every time I come this place is a must. I absolutely love this rooftop bar for their drinks and food, as well as their awesome service. The guys behind the bar always make my night with their welcoming attitude and extensive knowledge of signature cocktails. Their patio is absolutely beautiful with fireplaces and heaters all over, so don't worry about being cold up there. This is the perfect after dinner hangout spot where you can enjoy some fancy cocktails or maybe some wine and relax like you're at home. Most definitely recommend!!

Brien M.

Yelp
We're in Asheville for a couple of days and friends asked us to join them on the rooftop for the view, tapas, and drinks. We had a great time, good wine, tasty tapas, and very friendly service. Prices were better than I expected which was a bonus. What a great way to end our stay in Asheville.

Kristine L.

Yelp
A gorgeous spot to grab cocktails! Located on the 9th floor of the Marriott Hotel, Capella 9 has first come, first serve service where masks are required. There's wasn't too many people on a Saturday night. They have a lovely rooftop with fireplaces, heaters, and beautiful views of the mountains and city. I had the Thyme after Thyme cocktail. It was sweet and very pleasant to drink. A little light on the thyme for my liking. Can't wait to come back again soon!

Ted H.

Yelp
Rooftop Bar- one of the nicest rooftop bars that I have ever experienced. There is a sign that mentions it being one of the top 50 in the world. Not sure who is voting on this but in my opinion it is very nice. You have great long views of the mountains and closer views of downtown Asheville and the nearby buildings. Drinks are a little expensive but taste great.

Sharon G.

Yelp
You can look out around the city for some great views of the sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains. The tapas are decent and the cocktails look tiny, but they're not. Don't let the small glass deceive you. It's still 6oz. The server was around and attentive. She didn't introduce herself and wasn't very informative when I told her I'd never been here. She should've given me the quick one two tour of the menu and a couple of facts about the hotel/restaurant. The presentation of the food is spot on though. Clean. Everyone masks up. Sewing is first come first serve - no reservations. Go before 7:00pm in September to catch the sunset.

Khushnam I.

Yelp
This place was rocking & I'm glad we made reservations. We took the elevator to the 9th floor and entered this beautiful restaurant. It has one of the best views in all of Asheville with a must see sunset from the outdoor terrace space. We were visiting from Miami and this spot kind of reminded me of the famous South beach Chic. The food was great and service to match! What more can one ask for? Great food, service, ambiance & over the top sunset view. I would highly recommend having a drink at least if not dinner at this place at sunset.

Lisa S.

Yelp
It's always a bonus when there are amazing restaurants right inside your hotel. We grabbed breakfast from Capella on 9 before heading out on our next adventure. There are amazing views from this rooftop bar and restaurant. I'm a big fan of chorizo, so these breakfast tacos were perfect. We also got an order of french toast which had a delicious Nutella spread and berry compote. This morning's breakfast order had the right mix of spicy, savory, and sweet.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Beautiful rooftop bar. Great views and different cute areas to sit. Both indoor and outdoor sections. Both of our drinks were good and we enjoyed just sipping and looking out at Asheville! Would definitely come back if we were in Asheville again.

Annie M.

Yelp
WOW! What an incredible addition to Asheville. Wow, I truly felt like I was in a different city. I am ashamed that it took me so long to get here. This space is absolutely gorgeous and is definitely the biggest and most beautiful rooftop bar in Asheville. I was in shock as we arrived because I had no idea what I had been missing. Sitting outside on the open air rooftop made me feel as though I was in a much larger city, as I had never seen Asheville from this angle. Really great views, unlike any other downtown. The interior space is chic and modern and feels very upscale, yet casual and comfortable. There were guests dressed to the nine and other in jeans and sweatshirts. The indoor area is quite large with many different seating options such as the bar, couches, tables, cozy chairs, etc. As you arrive, you seat yourself wherever. We started outside and enjoyed the views for about 15 minutes before getting to cold and moving inside. There are two outdoor areas, one is quite small with only about 7 tables and looks to the West toward the BB&T building and the Flat Iron building. The other outdoor area is much, much larger with gas firepits, artsy decor and looks to the East toward Tunnel road and the mountains. It is breathtaking. As for libations, my husband and I both ordered the Gintonic (I believe it was titled the Signature Gintonic?!) and it was soooo delicious. If I am paying $12 for a cocktail, I expect a well thought out drink with tasty ingredients and enough alcohol to get a buzz. All of those things were true in this gorgeous cocktail with cucumber, lemon and star of anise. We didn't try any food but will definitely be back to order some food sometime! This is a must-go spot in Asheville now. Amazing!

Marissa T.

Yelp
Cute area but extremely rude service. After two of us stood patiently at the bar for a long time, the bartender questioned who we were ordering drinks for. When I pointed to the group of 3 others, he said they were near a server's table and that a server could help us. They had been standing there just as long with no service. All of the tables inside the bar area had signs on them to go to the bar, which we did. We left after one drink and won't be back.

Lan S.

Yelp
People are always saying the AC Hotel has the best rooftop bar in Asheville and probably in the entire state. And they're right. The architecture and designer (and the developer) did this up right. The 9th floor bar has wonderful views of Asheville in nearly all directions (the former BB&T Building, soon to be a hotel with luxury condos and retail and restaurant space) partially blocks the views to the west). The setting reminds me a little of a cruise ship and also in an odd way of the ruins at Pompei. There is a lot of local art and ceramics, including wonderful pieces by Cassie Butcher, and the drinks are reasonably priced (my Signature G&T with Hendricks gin) was $12, and there's also one on the craft cocktail menu for $10). This place stays busy, but you can sit inside until a spot opens outside. We had already had dinner so didn't try the tapas or other food. This is definitely the place to go for drinks before or after dinner.

Caty C.

Yelp
At the rooftop bar, we had a waitress that was absolutely hateful for no reason. She gave attitude to multiple people in our party and refused to split the tab after being told to go into certain groups. Would not recommend.

Dunn F.

Yelp
This place is amazing with such gorgeous views. Cory was an attentive hostess and Justin was our waiter who was superb. It's a lovely date night or hang out with friends vibe. We will definitely be back. Loved the cocktails, especially the espresso martini. The cocktails and wine choices are voice. You won't be disappointed!

Dana H.

Yelp
Went there for a date night and came away with a fabulous experience. Our bartender Trey was so amazing and gave us the most interesting vermouth education. Keep him around because we'll be back! Edit: We also got engaged this night and Trey took the time to snap about fifty pics for us! Thank you Trey, they are memories that will be with us for the rest of our lives.

Letese' C.

Yelp
This is nice spot to grab drinks and appetizers before exploring the area or if you're staying at the hotel. Me and my cousin only had drinks so I can't speak to what the food is like. I had a smoke Manhattan which was great. It had a nice maple taste to it which was very fitting for the season. The staff was great. All were friendly and gave us great recommendations. The seating was nicely spaced out due to the pandemic and there was hand sanitizer throughout the space. I'll definitely try some food next time I visit.

Heidi S.

Yelp
Gorgeous views, great vibes and chill out environment. Food was great as well - we had our teenagers with us and everyone had a great time form the food to the ambiance.

John M.

Yelp
roof top dining . we hit this place very late during the week . service was great . had the cold ceviche was with scallops and home made chips

Angie H.

Yelp
This place was great. The seating outside was comfortable and even though it was a windy day it was still very nice. There were fireplaces which really made the ambiance cozy. My girlfriend and I were looking for a romantic spot and we found it here on the rooftop! The food was great so that made it even better. The crab cakes and ceviche were delicious but the atmosphere made everything worth it!!!

Alex K.

Yelp
Great rooftop spot with great views. Indoor seating also quite nice. The short rib was great! My wife got a lobster roll I believe and loved it. Might have been the first time she finished a meal before me. The drinks were great! I had a mule. And the rest of the table had some martinis and vodka/sodas. All really happy with them. Service was a tad slow but positive and happy when they interacted with us. I can handle slow service due to understaffed business when the folks that are there are nice and pleasant. Don't know that I have a strong desire to ever go back to Asheville, but if I do. I'd come here again!

Peilin K.

Yelp
Very pretty place to have a drink and meal! The view of the sunset was just gorgeous. My friend and I only intended to get a drink there but ended up exploring the menu. Our waitress Marina was super helpful and made some great recommendations. I especially enjoyed the pork cheek (super hearty and homey) and the scallops. The drinks was yummy too. (So good that I forgot to take pictures). Great spot to stop by at downtown Asheville

Emma W.

Yelp
Roof top bar with a view of the blue ridge mountains?!?!? No contest. Just get a prime spot and watch the sun go down... Great variety of beers and wines to spend the time... Tried the kale salad- right amount of citrus and flavor. Loved it Tried the scallop ceviche. Wow. Presentation was awesome . Then when eating it... delicious!!! Great to snack on.... Really stayed a while for the view... wonderful...

Suz F.

Yelp
Great view of the city. Ample seating options inside and out. Good for visitors and locals. Tapas and drinks only on the menu. Ate the crabcakes and stuffed mushrooms and found both distinctly presented and tastily crafted. Drank the brut rose sparkly wine which complimented the day, the sunset, the small plates perfectly. Servers were thoughtful and delightful. Tip your servers well!! They work hard here!
