"After working in the kitchens of some restaurants with a great pedigree (L'Ambroisie, L'Arpège, L'Astrance), Baptiste Day decided to open this pleasant bistro. Diners are treated to lovely market-fresh dishes that are inspired by his Breton origins and enhanced by exotic flavours. The popular starter of pork croquettes (ginger, garlic and chilli mayonnaise) will certainly whet your appetite! Selection of organic and natural wines." - Michelin Inspector

We ate here twice on our recent trip to Paris. The restaurant is run by an extremely energetic and friendly team, and the menu changes daily. While the kitchen team works wonders inside, the sommelier, who has an exceptional knowledge of the wine list, will recommend the perfect wine for your chosen dish and palate. Highly recommended and do not forget to book in advance. Pet friendly scale 5/5

One of the best bistros in Paris. They have daily menu with starter + main + desert. Their velouté is one of the most delicious dish that I’ve ever tried. Strongly reccomend it.

I tried the restaurant for the first time during lunch. There was only a menu consisting of starter, main course and desert/cheese. Pricing was quite fair. We were two therefore tried most of the options on the menu. We started with pork croquettes, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, accompanied by a tasty mayonnaise. Starters were fish ravioli and wheat risotto with a pouched egg. Both were good however they overused coriander and became dominant. Mains were grilled steak with mushrooms and mashed potatoes and grilled fish with rice noodles pho. We liked the steak a bit more, although it was more classical. Both desserts were also delicious. Cannot complain about any of the dishes we tried. The only two downsides for us were overuse of coriander and a bit slow service (took more than 2 hours for lunch).

Impressive menu and presentation. The kitchen staff worked incredibly together and offered us an amazing meal. The dessert !!!!!!! I never had green peas 🫛 as a dessert but this one blew my mind ! The service was beyond amazing, lead by the sommelier Olivier who is very passionate about his work. I would definitely go back there and recommend this restaurant to anyone.

One restaurant in Paris where the tables are not cramped next to each other! Simple and unpretentious interior, but inviting nevertheless. A varied and creative menu, the food was delicious and beautifully plated.

Capitaine is a real gem of a place. The food is both comforting and decadent, the space feels inviting, and the service feels warm and friendly. My family had a lovely meal there tonight and we’re very glad we were able to dine there in the course of a short visit to the city! Thank you chef and crew at Capitaine!

As a general rule of thumb, one should always be immediately skeptical of any food reviews that contain superlatives such as "the best," "without a doubt," or even "hands down" (such a silly phrase anyways), and even more so if they appear in the same sentence. But Capitaine sure comes close to being what I would call without a doubt the best meal I've ever had in my hands down life. (That phrase simply never works anywhere). Beyond the decor (which is simple, inviting, and fantastic), beyond the food (which is fresh, creative, and fantastic), the service really sets Capitaine apart from the crowd (the servers were all handsomely bearded men who also looked fantastic). True, our meal stretched to 4 hours, and for some it may be overly-indulgent. But when we questioned if they were really, seriously, going to bring a second dessert out, the fantastically bearded server only said, "I'm always serious about food."

Had a very good experience here with my toddler after a long day of travel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, pulling out the sweetest high chair and toys for my kiddo. The vibe is unpretentious, food was seasonal, and very filling. The house wine was so good we sought out a bottle to bring home with us.

Yelp
This is a jewel in Paris you don't want to miss. The food is considered / thoughtful. Flavors perfectly planned. We had 3 courses for lunch. If you want to know what a great meal tastes like - go here. Friendly efficient service too.

Yelp
The bread came hot and sour and it was a promising start to the meal. First, croquettes de cochon, piment, mayonnaise (pig croquettes, chilli, mayonnaise) - rich with a bit of spice and a nice salting. Second, velouté parmentier, oeuf mollet, poutargue (velvety pie, soft-boiled egg, bottarga) - wild, rich, smoky, but not memorable. Next, couteaux, panais, porc gascon (razor clams, parsnips, Gascon pork) - I think the pork was speck, which I liked, and the parsnip crisps were fun, but I prefer my razor clams in the shell. There was also a parsnip puree that I found too sweet. The date liked this dish more than me. First main, ris de veau, aubergines (sweetbreads, eggplant) - a big, meaty, rich serving, but too much to finish. Second main, poitrine de cochon, carottes, maïs, Nduja (pork belly, carrots, corn, Nduja) - a big chunk of pork belly with carrot, corn, nasturtium. The skin was hard, crisp, and caramelized, but it was also hard to cut through. The dish was overwhelming in its proportion of fat to sweet (I found it too sweet). The dessert was riz au lait de coco, mangue (rice pudding with coconut milk, mango) - a big miss for me. Spicy, but boring. "It's a good mango," the date said. The service was excellent and I really rooted for this place, but the food was a bit boring and not as expert as it could have been with just the right tweaks and finishing. 3.3 rounded down.
