Very excited to visit the Capital One Lounge at DFW - it's the best lounge I've visited in the US for sure. (London's British Airways Lounges are my favorite overall.) We lucked into no wait on our two stops here this week. The first time, we found seating right away but the second visit was much busier, so it took more time.
As you enter, there's a display of food packaged up for you to take on the way out for your next flight. There were four sandwiches, including almond butter and jelly, turkey pastrami, chicken salad and a veggie option. There were also two salads, a banana tiramisu, a coconut chia pudding and another yogurt parfait. Boxes of water, plus four different snack mixes and three types of whole fresh fruit were also set up there.
Walking around to the side, you find a big display of cookies, gluten-free brownies, scones, baklava, croissants, and cream-filled profiteroles. Not only are there little plates here, but also small bags to take some with you on your next flight! YUM. Everything was delicious here!
Turn around, and you'll see heated individually plates dishes - there was a bimbibap, spicy cauliflower rice with mushrooms, mac and cheese, mac and cheese with bacon, a spicy soup, and maybe something else. On the other side, there were chilled items like french onion deviled eggs, flatbread with jam and gorgonzola, two salads, crudite with a spicy hummus, and I'm sure I'm forgetting another item or two.
The food items apparently stay the same for a month or two - oh how I wish they were changed on a daily rotation, so we could've tried other dishes on our return trip! Overall, the dishes were just too much - too spicy or some un-kid-friendly ingredients. My kid didn't even like the mac and cheese (claimed it was spicy?!), and only wanted the cookies. Oy. ;)
We had a very long layover on our return, and we were allowed to enter this lounge at the 3 hour mark before our departure. I asked to use one of the shower rooms and was given one quickly. It looked beautiful, but I could not figure out how to get hot water - it was hot for mere seconds and then the hot water was gooooooooone. Thankfully I hadn't put the shampoo in my hair yet! I mentioned this at the front desk when checking out of the shower room, and the guy just shrugged at me. Fooey.
CapOne, I hope you open at SFO or SJC!
