Food was a little bit sweet. (But Kids loved that. ) And Tomyum soup was not thai food I expected. The vibe was good. We enjoyed.

Been a few months since I was last here but came back with coworkers and wow, this place continues to impress! We started with the Blossom dumplings which are always great, the chicken satay which was good, and the lobster Rangoon and steamed pork buns which were both EXCELLENT. Beyond the excellent flavors, I'm always shocked how fast they bring the food! We had the Spicy Pad Thai, Thai Sausage, a Pork Rib Curry, and a Three Seafood Option. Each was spectacular but the favorites of the table were the Spicy Pad Thai (server recommendation/favorite) and the Three Seafood (shrimp, squid, and haddock).

Food was very good, service was even better. Great alcohol selection and drink menu, food was hot and fresh. Definitely will return

Google
Excellent food and wonderful presentation, but when dining in, the atmosphere is just not there. We had previously gotten delivery, and absolutely loved it. It was a tad pricey, but so so good. When we tried dinner on a Friday night, however, the food was still excellent and service very kind and prompt, but the vibe was just lacking. I will absolutely be getting delivery again though! The pork bun appetizer is a must- so juicy and flavorful. I also really liked the blossom dumplings, which are so cute and tasty. The pad thai is very good, as is the Lion King dish. The portions were hearty, neither my husband nor I could finish our plates! The spice level was a bit low, so don't hesitate to ask for more spice if you're into that.

Great Thai food and cocktails. Spicy Margarita with Spicy Pad Thai - you cant go wrong. Staff is friendly and efficient.

Google
First time trying Thai food as a picky eater and I got the chicken satay and pad thai. Loved them both and we ate everything! Service and food were excellent, would highly recommend.

Food was delicious with great presentation. Staff was very responsive, clean and well decorated place. Better than other Thai restaurant but we're still expecting more closer to Authentic Thai Cuisine.

Google
Fast and impressive service. Food was hot and fresh. Affordable and drinks were great!

Yelp
We were in town for a funeral and just came from the airport and needed a bite to eat. This place was perfect. The food was delicious and comforting. My husband ordered crunchy cashew chicken and I ordered a curry with potatoes peas carrots. It was a perfect combination of heat and sweet. The white rice was sticky and yummy. Our server was very nice let's us turn the channel and gave me great advice on my order. We were pleased with our choice

Yelp
The good: I went the Capital Thai with my son on a weekday evening when school was in. I was expecting it to be more crowded, to be honest, but there were only three other tables seated. Service was very prompt and friendly. The spicy pad thai was the highlight of our dinner. Spicy in a "make your taste buds tingle" sort of way, not a "burn your taste buds out" sort of way. The noodles and shrimp were perfectly cooked and it wasn't dry or soppy. The pho noodle soup was... just weird. My son ordered the meatball pho, which is already kind of an odd choice. The broth didn't taste like any pho I've ever had before. Heavy on the bullion base and light on aromatics. Not unpleasant, per se, just not what he was expecting. Price-wise, Capital Thai is right in line with neighboring spots. Check for 2 people was ~ $45 before tip with no alcoholic beverages. My advice is to avoid the non-Thai dishes on the menu and you'll probably enjoy yourself.

Christine S.

Yelp
Ordered take out and it was fast easy and delicious. Definitely ask for silverware and or chop sticks as my bag did not have any. I had the chicken pad Thai and it was simple and delicious if you like spicy definitely be sure to specify as there was no heat on the original order.

Yelp
Best Thai food around. Worth the drive from Newmarket. They always have fresh, tasty food with a creative menu. I gave it 4 stars this time because this is my go to Thai place, but sometimes the curry sauces on the curry dishes are watered down/thin, which is a disappointment when that happens. Overall, this place is super good. The only other Thai place that is this good in the general area is Sara Thai in Somersworth, but that's a hike.

Scott D.

Yelp
Good food whether dining in or taking out . Love the spring rolls . A great downtown restaurant

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Food is good, but not consistent. Very expensive comparatively- for example their pad Thai $22, while neighboring Thai is $11.

Mely Y.

Yelp
Not from this cute town, so was recommended to try this place. The ambiance was casual chic. Very quaint. The service was friendly. The food was good. The crispy cashew chicken was pretty tasty over white rice. Their prices were a bit much for me. I definitely appreciate nyc a lot more. Can't knock on this cute small town charm as there's not a lot of options to choose from. Overall, would come back.

Yelp
This is an update from my review from 4 years ago. We've eaten here probably 20+ times over the past 4 years. My last experience was not good. The steamed pork buns continue us to be excellent. The service was also good. My favorite drunken noodle dish looks like it's portions were cut in half, and maintained the same price. There was a pho special this week and that piping hot soup was served in a black melamine bowl. Melamine is food safe at cold temps but is known to leak plastics into hot food, so that's not great. The value is not adding up at the moment. Hopefully things improve, I'm sure I'll still swing by occasionally for some steamed pork buns to go.

Yelp
This used to be a wonderful place ... food was excellent across the board and it was our favorite place to take guests and our sure-fire take-away go to .... But it has gone downhill lately and tonight was the worst. Chicken wings were not just flavorless but also burned. Rice dish was bland. Papaya salad disappointing and boat noodles lackluster. Overall, for $100, it was definitely a major fail. We have been disappointed more often than not with this place lately ... it is off our list.

Yelp
This is for takeout. First of all, they were great with food allergies. Being gluten free and having options was much appreciated. Secondly, they clearly care about covid safety, so that's nice. But most of all, the food was outstanding and beautiful, even in take out packages. Those blossom dumplings are dense and intense and I love it. The pad se ew was awesome. Some of the best I've ever had. Be sure to ask your own food safety questions. But I would look forward to returning here!

Yelp
Ordered delivery online on Sunday at 3:50. Said it would be delivered by 4:50 latest. At 5:30 I checked status and it said driver was picking up food... It never came! Drove down and they were closed. Update your hours on website and online ordering! We even got charged!!

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Was told 35 minutes for take out. Actually Was one hour and 15. Not a whiff of apology.

Irina R.

Yelp
I was very surprised to see that the place was empty on Tuesday evening but it had excellent reviews and I was craving Thai food so I wanted to try it despite the fact I was the only person in the room. I got seafood drunken noodles, and, honestly, it was probably the best drunken noodles dish I have ever tasted!!! It took about 5 minutes to get my dinner, and everything was just perfect! I really enjoyed every bite of it. Super fresh, and all the flavors were just amazing. The service was very attentive and quick. The place started filling up as I was living so I am sure you would need a reservation if you come here on Friday or Saturday night.

Dan S.

Yelp
The best Thai restaurant in the world!! Okay, New Hampshire. Aside from the awesome service, they cook up the best quality Thai around. Try to get a table by the wondow and enjoy the beautiful view of the river.

David P.

Yelp
The best pad Thai I have ever had. I try this dish at every thai restaurant over many years. Truly fantastic food apps and drinks. Our server was very nice and attentive and kind. I had my service dog with me and the entire staff welcomed her and made me and my SD very welcome! I will be back again and again. This is truly a special place.

Sharon C.

Yelp
Ordered soup and Pad Thai noodles. Mango salad was utterly tasteless. Pad Thai was equally bland. Very disappointing. I recommend the Thai restaurant on Portsmouth Ave.

Ryan L.

Yelp
Great Thai food in Exeter -- a place which would be very good even in California or New York. I wish we had any Thai restaurants in Puerto Rico, let alone one this good. They have all the classics, an interesting Thai cuisine inspired bar menu, and some excellent specialties. Pricing is good, and lunch specials are excellent. Only downside is they close at 8pm, probably due to staff shortages.

Bonnie W.

Yelp
They used to be wonderful but have been hit or miss lately. It is sad but they are not inexpensive do not worth chancing it any longer

Chas F.

Yelp
Excellent service. Boisterous atmosphere at night with a high noise level. Mediocre, inauthentic but filling food.

Pete S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, service and food. The Blossom Dumplings were beautiful and gorgeous, and the Kha-Pow Gai Saap was fresh and flavorful. The drinks were generous pours. All-in, a great evening.

Tracy A.

Yelp
Sweet place with delicious food. We were there early and had our pick of tables - we opted for a place near the windows to watch the water - what a beautiful view! Shortly after we sat down the place started filling up - one of the hallmarks of a well-known and loved local eatery. Our waitress was very attentive, friendly and adorably helpful when we asked for recommendations. I opted for three of the apps as a meal (the Chicken Satay, Blossom Dumplings and Brussels Sprouts) and my friend had the red curry. All were really delicious. The Blossom Dumplings have to be seen to be appreciated, and were flavorfully sweet and savory with a satisfying bite (and absolutely beautiful and BLUE!). The chicken skewers were good, though a bit dry, and I would have loved it if the sauce had more flavor - it was on the bland side. The brussels sprouts had an amazing texture and flavor, though were a bit too greasy for my tastes. My friend's curry was good, and had a wonderful variety of veggies. If I ever find myself in Exeter again, I would go back in a heartbeat - and this time try something else on the "almost-impossible-to-choose" menu!

Steve R.

Yelp
The only Asian takeout we use, we have tried others, and this is our go-to spot. Truth be told I would prefer to eat there.

Jasmine C.

Yelp
The Drunken Noodles are my go to on the menu. The Tofu is cooked perfectly and the whole dish has just the right flavor.

Bekah B.

Yelp
Amazing lunch deals. My sister and I ordered the Drunken Noodles and the Kha-Pao. The lunch specials come with 2 veggies dumplings each and a small salad. We also ordered Thai teas with boba. Everything we ordered was incredibly flavorful and perfect. The service was phenomenal, and everything was prepared and served very quickly. We even had enough food for some leftovers. This is some of the best Thai I've had on the seacoast, maybe even in the US (I have been to Thailand, and our dishes tasted incredibly authentic). Even my father who is a picky eater tried the Kha Pao leftovers and loved it. I will definitely visit again.

Victoria F.

Yelp
I haven't had such good Thai food since I lived in Tacoma, Washington. Thai is my favorite food choice but I am usually disappointed. Capital Thai did NOT disappoint! We got the Blooming Dumplings that were almost too beautiful to eat...ALMOST! We also got the Roasted Brussel Sprouts, they were so good without that bitter aftertaste and they were wonderfully crispy! The food was not only really lovely to look at, the taste was absolutely delicious. Friendly service on top of that. I recommend Capital Thai!

Amanda N.

Yelp
I'd you like over priced food that is exquisitely displayed, this is the place for you. If you want to try great Thai food, go down the street

Kevin F.

Yelp
This was absolutely just a great spot. Jasmine was just the most pleasant waitress I have had the of being served by in a very long time. The interior was so tastefully decorated . Jasmine was very helpful with menu choices. Even helped when my Wife asked for a drink that wasn't one they have done before and they made it happen. Started with the Steamed Bun Pork belly. So tender and flavorful . We chose the Lion King and the Crying Tiger. Just so tender and bursting with flavor. Very well done. I was actually surprised at the quality being so good. The owner came over and introduced herself to us and was just so delightful. Thank you and your staff for a great visit. Thank you Jasmine for excellent service.

CCmojo C.

Yelp
The food is very fresh and tasty. I had the drunken noodles and my dad had the Pad See Ew they they were both very good. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and the service was good. If you want chopsticks just ask for them. I believe they are using plastic utensils for now because of Covid. I would definitely be back and I highly recommend.

Angela P.

Yelp
We did take out yesterday. Everything was amazing! Bao buns, shrimp pad Thai, crispy cashew chicken and this amazing rice noodle soup (reminded me of pho). I highly recommend you try Capital Thai Kitchen. I feel bad I've missed out on this amazing food for so long.

Yelp
I am going to do something a little out of the ordinary on this review and address my comments specifically to foodies in Boston and in Portland, Maine. If you have not discovered Exeter's restaurant scene over the last year, you are just a Downeaster ticket away. The local station is a comfortable and picturesque walk to and from (if you're imbibing) most of Exeter's noteworthy restaurants including Otis, Epoch, 11 Water Street, Blue Moon Evolution, Sea Dog Brewpub, and noteworthy newcomer Capital Thai Kitchen & Bar. My five stars are based on consistency of food quality, service and value over multiple visits. Nonglack Thanephonesy and her team have created a stylish, friendly space with river views and a combination of authentic signature dishes and street food rarely found in Americanized Thai restaurants. Given the quality of the dishes and their presentation, price points are below what one might expect in Boston, Portland or nearby Portsmouth. That'll help defer the cost of your train ticket. A worthy addition to Exeter and the entire Seacoast, Capital Thai is worth a special visit.

Darren F.

Yelp
It's great to have a solid Thai option between Manchester and the seacoast as quality Thai in New Hampshire is few and far between. We stopped here over the Christmas break and it was awesome. The staff was still prepping for the dinner rush and sat us a few minutes before they were opened with no problem. The staff was great the entire time, going over the menu with the less experienced Thau fans and answering questions about the menu. The Tom Kha, pad thai, vegetarian rolls and drunken noodles were all cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly with the right amount of spice. The prices and portions were great and the space itself was very comfortable and bright with the large windows. There was plenty of room and you were not crowded next to other people which is very important. I will definitely be back.

Bruce W.

Yelp
Much improved service with same excellent food. Everything is good.. Pad Thai, fish, pork, dumplings all great. Fast delivery for quality food

Rene C.

Yelp
Had lunch with my long time friend after a morning of painting. You see he is starting a brand new brewery in Exeter called Czar Brewery right on Center street in the downtown district of Exeter. The Pad Thai was delicious. I ordered the veggie and my friend ordered the Chicken and we both ordered our pad Thai with the number 2 spice. We probably would order it a bit more Spicy next time. They both came with two fried dumplings, which was an excellent surprise. The place was shadiest and get clean. The hostest/waitress was very friendly. I surely would come back again.

Tom I.

Yelp
Great Green Curry and steamed pork belly buns. Good service and during lock downs kept us sane with take out.

Joni C.

Yelp
This was my first time at Capital Thai Kitchen and my daughter and granddaughter joined me; it was wonderful and the food was beautiful and delicious!!

Kathleen C.

Yelp
Just had home delivery from Capital Thai for the first time and it was outstanding! The duck dish was exceptionally delicious and our other dishes- chicken satay, green chili with shrimp and dumplings- were scrumptious! Can't wait to actually go to the restaurant and experience other dishes! Used DoorDash for delivery and they were awesome!

Anthea M.

Yelp
Absolutely the best Thai restaurant in the area. Definitely not your boring typical Thai!! The lunch menu is very reasonable. The dishes are served in beautiful bowls and come with a salad and fried dumplings. We always see the same 2 servers so I suppose it's family owned. Both of them are absolutely delightful. Grab the table that has the serene view of the Lamprey river.

Alex C.

Yelp
food was fine, love coming here after work and having food while scrolling through my phone.

L. H.

Yelp
We eat here pretty regularly and have always enjoyed our meal. I especially love the massaman curry with shrimp and tofu, and my husband usually gets the drunken noodles. Delicious! Also good is the cashew chicken and Thai blossom appetizer. Drinks are good but variable depending on the bartender. As with everywhere, they are short staffed but always pleasant and accommodating. A local favorite

Robert F.

Yelp
First time ordering Pad Thai as I expecting 10 min to be done, took 5 min and took it out of box while in car, not fresh+microwaved!

Sonja F.

Yelp
Fantastic pad Thai, street food is a great way to mix it up. Spring roles are the best around

Kathleen H.

Yelp
This is a very popular restaurant. Two thumbs up, every day! Yes. I hope they are successful in the upcoming spring and summer.

Duncan H.

Yelp
I was in Exeter for a week and this place was down the street from where I lived so I gave it a shot. OMG, I think this is one of the better Thai places I've been to in the States and it's in a small town in New Hampshire. The drunken noodle here is excellent, and everything was spot on. I would definitely be back!!!

Kater D.

Yelp
Love their food, the crispy cashew chicken is my favorite. The folks are very nice great service, glad they're in town.

I Y.

Yelp
Stopped by here for dinner on our way home from Portland. It was almost late on a Sunday night so it wasn't too packed or busy. When we arrived, we noticed that there was only one waitress working the entire place (actually I saw one other waitress but she only checked on one table and disappeared). Two couples were seated after us and they had their orders taken before us. Their food also arrived well before ours and they were pretty much finished with their meals before ours even arrived. The food was absolutely delicious. Had it not been for the slow service, this place would definitely be 5 stars.

Cupcake E.

Yelp
Had the northern thai style sausage 'Sai oua' with sticky rice and a roasted tomatoe dip. It was good and the tomatoe dip made it yummier. The second time I ordered it they gave me the sweet chili sauce from out of a bottle, no dip. You're a good thai place, but I gave you 3 stars because you're not consistent. If it says it on the menu please provide it versus giving me a cheap easy sweet chili sauce from out of a bottle.

Tialha N.

Yelp
I just had this delivered! We got the steamed pork belly buns, lion king, and the pineapple fried rice. All three dishes were amazing! I definitely found my new favorite this place!!

Frank W.

Yelp
By far one of the best Thai restaurants in the North East! The Curry and spring rolls are second to none!
