REVIEW:
1. 🔁 Favourite was the Sicilian Square.
Crispy, delicious base loaded with plenty of ingredients. The tang from the capers offset the slight sweetness of the tomatoes, combined with the saltiness of the olives? Sure it's a vegetarian dish but it packed a punch. 👊
You HAVE to add on the hot honey. A viscous sweetness with a subtle spiciness with every bite. It elevated the dish and carried the whole evening. 🧡
2. 🎺 Second favourite was the Campanelle pasta. The pasta shape was so fun!
Looking like a little trumpet/flower, it was perfectly al dente and complimented the spanner crab perfectly. I'm a sucker for capers, and the simplicity of brown butter made it easy to enjoy.
❌ Would not order the yellowfin tuna next time.
It was cut into long slices, where the fish was almost swimming in the oil. It became more 'gluggy' and I wasn't able to appreciate the quality.
🤔 Service was going well, until it was time to wrap up.
Waitstaff were great at noticing when we finished our meal but after taking away our main plates, we were just left alone.
Not even an offer of dessert menu or tea/coffee.
We ended up wandering to the till because at that point, we were ready to leave. That also took a little time to get us sorted out as well. 🤐 A noticeable drop in service towards the end of the night.
Would highly recommend booking! It seemed like Capitano had a full house for their Friday dinner service. 🌙
