Good atmosphere. We had the Signature burger with French fries and fish tacos with yucca fries. The French fries were not very good, but everything else tasted great. I was disappointed that Capitol City only brewed two beers and then offered beers from other breweries. The Capitol City Answer Wave was very good and priced at $7. The other beers ranged from $11 to $13, which is pricey.

Didn’t bump into the friendliest barman but the place is great. Large choice for beers and local brews of all sorts. The ones I had were excellent. Big screens everywhere for sports. Didn’t try the food but it looked good. Great place for beer lovers.

Google
Food was OK (pizza not) and the beer selection from Capital City was pretty sparse. They had beers from other breweries, but I usually go to a brewing company to try theirs. They had 2 on the menu. Big place, so lots of seating and a good amount of TVs. We were well taken care of and it wasn't too expensive. I'd give it a So-So.

Look no further if you want to have the best dinner in DC. From food, drink, atmosphere to service, this place has it all. It offers plenty of indoor seating and a full size bar. Food was prepared in a reasonable time and everything was as ordered. It’s kids friendly. The whole crew had a blast. Will def recommend this place to friends and coworkers. Well done.

I went for lunch around 12:50pm. Ordered a flight ($18), and a steakhouse burger ($15.50). My server, Deon, was great. Got my flight to my table pretty fast, even helped me identify the beers when I couldn't read the writing on the flight carrier thing. I ordered my burger medium rare and shockingly it was cooked medium rare. I feel like that's a rarity at burger pubs these days.

Google
Terrible experience. We were moved twice and despite waiting patiently no one check on us in 20 minutes. Thus, we moved to the bar and without any service, we inquired a waiter about dinner and drinks and told him about our it experience. He stated: “thus, because we are busy”. He didn’t offer any help or solution to our situation. Food menu is overpriced fast food. Beer is meh for craft beer. Never coming back. On top of that they use plastic straws despite DC law.

We came in for a late lunch on a Sunday. We had great service! Sandwiches are enough for kids or light appetites to share. Loved the onion rings! Local amber ale was delicious! Plenty of screens to watch the game of your choice!

Google
Had a great happy hour which is appreciated! Food was pretty good. They only have two brews they do? A kolsche and an amber. They were tasty but I was surprised they don’t do more. They offer local beers on tap tho.

Yelp
I wanted to go to a bar that I could watch the football game at, and this spot seemed perfect! It has a huge wraparound bar with ample seating. It also has a ton of its own brews on tap! I really liked the Capitol Kolsch and had a couple of those. I highly recommend if you are in the mood for a light beer. The Nachos were also spot on. The funniest thing happened, when they arrived, both of the people to the sides of me instantly wanted to know what they were and then ordered the same thing! Needless to say, they looked extremely appetizing. Thankfully they tasted as good as they looked too. I definitely can't wait to stop by again for another game at some point soon!

Yelp
Great location with good beer selection (kolsch was awesome) but the food leaves a lot to be desired. Great for groups and sports enthusiasts since they have large TVs and tons of space. The onion rings were bland but the sauces were excellent! We liked the horseradish one, surprisingly. The nachos were typical pub food. Service was good! Good to know it's always here near the Mall.

Mark N.

Yelp
NOTE: I came here just to eat. Didn't try any beers and this was such a hard review because: - the service was excellent - the fries were great (tho small portion) - the place was cool - the burger was SO lame! "1/2 lb juicy burger" was dry and unremarkable even boring. A Burger King like char flavor which was good but it was dry, the cheese unmelted (was that even cheddar?), the bun dense and just not that good. I loved the fries though, hot and crispy though kind of a small portion. They work as a team behind the bar and service was excellent. They don't hang and chit chat - they work! Really like the place I'm from out of town and should have just ordered something different!

Yelp
This place has a lot of potential. It's a great vibe and concept, but the experience was absolutely terrible. Our server, Megan, was non existent. She took over 20 minutes to take our order, and then disappeared. Our appetizers came out and we still didn't get the refills we requested, or plates to help share. Once the food was delivered by the food runner again, we gave up on the idea of refills from our server and went to the bar to get our own refills. The bartender was so nice and was awesome. He got me the refills for the table and I sat down to eat. Then my food order wasn't correct, so I went back to the bar to request a manager, as our server still hadn't visited our table again. The manager came over. He was awkward and looked afraid to talk to the table. I explained that my food was wrong and that our service was awful. I received no apology about the service or the meal. Immediately after seeing the manager at the table, the server came back over and asked if everything was ok. Read the room, we didn't call a manager over for fun. While one dish was totally incorrect, the other food was sub par at best. After another extended wait the server came over to check on us and I asked to have the sandwich removed and to get the check, because at this point I was so over this experience and I needed to leave. The server then came back over and slammed the food down on the table and said "well it's not on the check anyways." Upon receiving my correct meal, it was extremely underwhelming. All of the other tables in our section waited an eternity like us, and their food orders were also incorrect. The server was either MIA or talking with the hostess the entire time we were there. When the server was present, she decided every time that the best pathway to walk was squeeze behind my chair between another table, and knocking into my chair, every single time. I even moved the table to give her more room, and she still hit me every time she walked by. Why not use the open walkway? Once we finally got the opportunity to cash out for a meal that honestly no one enjoyed, we paid and headed out the door. The awkward manager was sitting in a booth near the bar cutting fruit and prepping food. Talk about gross and unprofessional. He had no care in the world that their was entire section of unhappy customers and did not pitch in to help at all.

Yelp
We visit craft breweries wherever we go. When we saw Capitol City just down the street from our son's office, we figured we'd give it a try. From a beer perspective, Capitol City gets 2-stars. Nothing to get excited about and they only brew 2 in-house: Capitol Kolsch and Amber Waves. If it were still 1992, these would be good craft beers. They don't hold up against the crowd of modern day craft beer options. Mostly, this place seems like a sports bar. There's a large bar near the center and lots of tables and tvs. We didn't have any food, just the one flight of beer that was available. Our bartender was awesome. If you're here for sports and food, I'm sure it's fine. If all you want is craft beer, choose another brewery.

Phil M.

Yelp
Large restaurant/sports bar vibe. We stopped in while visiting the area. Good liquor select, albeit pretty steep on prices. Food was decent, but nothing that amazed us. Overall...meh.

Kelly R.

Yelp
Slow service, it wasn't crowded so I know our server wasn't busy. Didn't bring out some of our food til we were about to leave. The onions in the onion rings were a weird texture. The Italian grinder sandwich was barely any meat and the "grinder salad" topping was a tiny bit of shredded lettuce. Overpriced for what was served and slow service without follow up from server.

Kevin B.

Yelp
We came here with a big group while in town for a conference and it was an enjoyable experience overall. We came for lunch on a weekday and it was fairly quiet, which was good since our group was large. Overall, the drinks were pretty good and my wife enjoyed her cocktail. I tried 2 of the house beers and they were just okay (not anything special), but they had a great list of other beers and I was able to find a great IPA. My wife and I both played it safe and got burgers and they were pretty tasty and not overcooked. The other members of our group seemed to enjoy their meal as well and it was a good place for all of us. I will say that the service was not super great though and they need to improve on that; you expect some slowness with a big group, but the restaurant was fairly empty and they were much slower than they needed to be. It's a solid brewpub overall though with good food and drink (I'd pick the guest beers over theirs), but with so so service.

Julie T.

Yelp
If you were ever served by this waiter named Reuben, I feel sorry for you. If you hear feedback like he is the best server in this restaurant, call their bullshit. It was not how our experience was. Let me just sum up my review here. Food was OK.. wings were good but the nachos were soggy. We were not expecting much from a bar restaurant after walking all day in the DC area over 4th of July. Reuben gave us false information about a beer pass that we were trying to use. We verified it later with the assistant manager that the pass was indeed for a free beer instead of BOGO and he helped us with adjusting our bill correctly. When it was time to ask for the check, Reuben ignored our request and not forgetting he had already snubbed us all night. What pushed us over the edge was when he proceeded to tell the table next to us about the beer pass situation and all. It was so unprofessional and badly handled on his part that we had to lodge a complain with the manager. The restaurant did compensate us with a credit on our bill, but it really left a bad taste on our overall first time experience here. We do not intend to come back.

Fran D.

Yelp
Came here after a local race with a group of 9 people. The staff was so accommodating to set up a table for us immediately. The wait staff was super friendly and attentive. It's not easy to handle a table that big and they went above and beyond. Our food and drinks came quickly. I ordered the oven roasted club and a Rock the red cosmo. The club was basically a triple decker sandwich with turkey, ham, cheese, tomato, lettuce, Bacon and garlic mayo on a brioche. So fresh and flavorful! I inhaled the whole thing. The cosmo had absolut lime, elderberry liquor and cranberry juice. Perfect light and fruity drink. What we didn't expect and appreciate the most is that the waiter was so kind to give us separate bills! This is very complicated and we didn't ask but her offered!

Sophia C.

Yelp
The food is pretty good. After seeing the yelp review, I was hesitant but they are not bad at all. The service was great too. Our server was attentive. It's a pretty big place so I don't think you will have a hard time getting a table. Overall, we had a nice time here.

Sara M.

Yelp
Alex was our server and although friendly and accommodating, the service was slow. We waited 10 minutes to be greeted and had to ask for refills. Waited 15 minutes after we finished to get our bill. Their BBQ chicken pizza was pitiful. Absolutely no flavor, chicken wasn't seasoned, hardly any BBQ sauce to speak of and just a bad meal. Hubby thought his ribs were just ok but his IPA was fantastic! Place is cool inside, drinks seem good but go elsewhere for food.

Juan A.

Yelp
This place is a standard sports bar. Nothing too crazy or lazy. Saw plenty of folks in post work attire just lounging about. Went for a game on a Sunday and it was decently packed. Had some small apps - nothing extraordinary. Service was OK. Nothing to write home about. Not a hard yes or no, but it's here lol.

Megan L.

Yelp
Nice little bar to stop in for a quick bite or hang out for happy hour and watch a game. Service was quick and helpful. Food is what you would expect for a corner brewpub. Nothing super special but hit the spot.

Gold S.

Yelp
Ambiance was ok but can be better. Food wasn't the greatest. Calamari was bland and chewy. Pizza seemed to be pre-made (from a box). No beer was available since their brewery was down. Service was good enough.

Katie N.

Yelp
Decided to try this place out on a weeknight. Service was a little slow. Pretty decent size food menu. I had the Chipotle chicken wrap. It was decent. I thought their own brews were limited, but they also have other local beers, cocktails, and soda. Lots of tvs playing a variety of sporting events.

Gail B.

Yelp
Like most businesses, Cap City Brewing has been financially affected by the pandemic. The yummy free pretzels aren't served any more. There aren't as many employees. It shows. They also don't brew beer at that location anymore. The menu doesn't have choices for vegetarians, except a salad & fries. They don't even have Boca burgers. Hubby enjoyed his burger with goat cheese. I ordered fries. I thought they were frozen & cooked since they were cold. A server checked on us by quickly walking by (not stopping) and saying, "how are you?" If he had stopped for 5 seconds, I would have asked to have the fries reheated. The little touches matter. Bring lemons, not limes 25 minutes later. Don't place an empty ketchup bottle on the table. The bar was already lowered since we were tired and decided not to visit Chinatown. The host was more interested in texting people than being present for guests. The most attentive and helpful employees were the two bar staffers and a server assistant. I started asking them for help (lemons, griping). I wish we had sat at the bar. I think we would have felt valued there. They are the reason for the third star. We had an unexpected guest under the table. A mouse quickly ran across the floor. The manager was nice and made another order of fries for me when I told him about the mouse & cold fries. I am cheering for you Cap City. Wish we had visited Stellina instead.

Yelp
First night in DC, I skipped lunch, and I was starving...Capital City Brewing Company had just what I needed A great beer - Capital City Amber Waves (they had a pretty good selection of local drafts) A great burger - the Hickory Burger with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, and a great bbq sauce (I had an excellent side salad too - came with a delicious Italian vinaigrette) A great atmosphere - great bar scene with lots of people having fun. And great service - seated immediately, waiter brought water and took my beer order quickly, food came quickly, and the burger was done perfectly. Honestly, I could probably come here every night if I didn't have plans already...

Elisabeth H.

Yelp
We stayed at the Marriott across the street and actually ate here twice, food selection is generic American but was very good. Great service and seemed to be full of locals.

Kendoll C.

Yelp
Oh-I feel sad for the craft beer lovers of DC- Arriving Thursday night, we seated ourselves at the bar & patiently awaited a bartender to grab us a beer for our PubPass...unfortunate to learn the PubPass only covered two house beer options (pilsner or kolsh) both not styles we enjoy, bleg strike 1. Strike 2, the bartender poured the beer very foam top heavy & did not care Strike 3, other options for beer were all $10-12 a pint! wtf, when some of the actual breweries were nearby offering the same beer at $7 a pint. this was a ridiculous draft menu pricing. Strike 4, bathrooms were also absolutely disgusting. Places like this are why we don't bother with DC-

Ron C.

Yelp
I moved to the neighborhood back in November and haven't been to Capitol City in like 10 years. I'm glad I swung by yesterday for drinks. The bar service was great and I like the bar is so large as it would be difficult not to find a seat here. The happy hour menu is pretty decent but I wish they also had alcohol for happy hour and not just food. I think the price point for non-happy hour food is high so I feel I'd take advantage of only eating here during happy hour as $15 for Chicken Tenders and $10 for Onion Rings seems very high, but this is DC. The bartender hooked me up with a free Margarita (or he forgot to charge me). I can see myself coming here for drinks from time to time for sure.

Chloe S.

Yelp
Located in a good downtown location, Capitol City Brewing had a great atmosphere with big booths and a fair amount of bar seating. I got the Capitol Kolsch, which I thought was okay but nothing to write home about. They had a fair amount of options on draft, but for what it is I expected a little broader of a menu. The service was nice and we got our beer pretty quickly. I'd come back but I think there are better spots to grab a beer downtown.

Christopher R.

Yelp
I've lived 2 blocks away from this restaurant for 12 years and visited for the last time today. It took over 10 min to order after we were ready. My sandwich came out with fries instead of the onion rings I ordered. The food runner argued with me showing me the kitchen ticket. I didn't doubt that it was entered incorrectly but I didn't enter it. The Diet Coke was like club soda with 2 drops of syrup for $3 which doesn't include a refill. Apparently water doesn't include a refill either. The food has never been impressive but the service is now hostile. Go somewhere else.

Ariana H.

Yelp
For our first DC brew stop, the closest within walking distance we could find in the moment, was Capitol City. It was a nice spot to check out. The food was good, my pizza crust a little too crispy but overall great flavors. My kid loved her pasta. A little bummed that they didn't have more of their own brews but the couple we tried were good. Lots of other guest beers on draft though.

Ryan K.

Yelp
Decent place to watch sports. We visited Capitol City Brewing Company on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty. They have a full bar but the beer selection is surprisingly limited. I tried their amber ale and my wife's cocktail that was a mix of a couple fruits and jalapeños. The amber ale was pretty bland and a little flat. My wife's cocktail was nearly undrinkable with an overwhelming amount of canned jalapeño flavor. If you want to watch sports, then Capitol City Brewing Company is a reasonable choice, but the drinks may disappoint you.

Sharece B.

Yelp
I could skip it. I went to Capitol City Brewing to have a late dinner and beer while watching an NBA playoff game. I ordered the chipotle chicken wrap. I asked the bartender if it was good and he evaded the question. But after eating, I see why. The wrap lacked flavor and came with cold and stale fries. I don't think my food has tasted this bad since I was at my grade school cafeteria. The one thing I think this place has going for it is the location. But it says something that the food is bad and it's easy to get a seat. It's not the sort of place you document on your Insta stories... unless you want to complain about the cold and stale fries.

Steven D.

Yelp
We came to Capitol City Brewing Company on a rainy day right around 5 or 6pm. It wasn't very busy, but we chose to sit down at the bar since we were only going to have one beer. The service was quick and seemed friendly enough, but nothing super special. They had a pogo stick trick championship on the TVs which was pretty random, but it was kind of neat. We tried the two beers they brew in house--the Amber Waves and Capitol Kolsch. Although neither of them were bad, they really weren't special. They seemed to be more or less similar to any other lighter beer and there wasn't much of a robust flavor to either of them. Given what they charge for their beers, I would honestly just grab something else on draft because they had a lot of good options from other more well-known breweries (Victory, etc). Overall, seemed to be a pretty average brewery. Nothing to hate, but not much to raise it above the others nearby.

Wayne W.

Yelp
This was a decent place for a couple of beers and nachos. Nothing remarkable about it but service and food was eh ok. Seems like a good spot for many locals and visitors from out of town.

Simon B.

Yelp
Great brewpub with good food, space and a solid drinks menu which we may have to return to sample. Swift and friendly seating. Prime rib sandwich and fried chicken salad were both delicious and not too big to finish. Thanks

David Y.

Yelp
Capitol City serves decent food, but you'll pay a bit more than you'd like (for the location, I guess). We shared some egg rolls, a sort of Chinese-Mexican fusion dish, with a fried tortilla shell and chicken and black beans in the filling. They were surprisingly good! I ordered a pepperoni pizza as my main dish. While it is hard to mess up pizza, this one was quite good for bar food. It had a crispy crust, a thick layer of gooey melted cheese, and an abundance of deliciously greasy pepperoni. Ultimately, if you are in the area, be assured that there is a solid option for lunch or an afternoon snack at Capitol City.

Jim T.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick bite to eat. We just had appetizers. This place was not busy at all. We got a table quickly, then waited for service, I mean waited and waited and waited. The waiter finally came and took our drink order. Then we waited and waited and waited. We ordered appetizers and they came out quickly, and were good. As a matter of fact, all the appetizers were good. My one gripe is the service. The service was bad. I had to get up a number of times to get napkins and water refills. I don't understand it. The place was not busy. I am seeing a common theme in regards to the service in DC.

Mari S.

Yelp
Don't waste your time or money at this place. The service is non-existent and the burgers don't come cooked as requested. The server took the order and we didn't see him again till it was time to pay. Someone else brought out the food. The seating was comfortable and not loud as long as you're away from the bar.

Tiffi R.

Yelp
Cool place to patronage, for a drink and bar food for friends if your out and about in dc. I didn't love the calamari but I did love their pizza, onion rings, fries, keg rolls and nachos. A few girlfriends and I were out and about dropping in on a few events in the city. Decided to grab food last minute. They had plenty of room with no waiting. Service was good. Will come again. We had a large party of 9.

Paul M.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years, but it still is a nice neighborhood bar with good food and excellent service. It's was sad to find out they didn't have as many beers as they had before, and that the other locations closed, the one in Shirlington was great as well.

Jefe H.

Yelp
I had the frozen pizza. My son had the chicken. Son was sick within 15 minutes. The beer was good so they got that going for them. So, I suggest no more than a beer at this place.

Joe H.

Yelp
Walked in on Sunday evening without a reservation. The "gentleman" at the host desk asked us if we had a reservation, after I said "no," he rolled his eyes and stared at his little screen to find a table. We should have left, but My fiance doesn't like to make a fuss. We got seated at one of the many vacant tables. Our waiter was an older man who took a while to get to us. He was friendly enough, but seemed unsure of how to use the technology in taking orders. He had to enter our order twice and even then didn't seem too sure he did it right. He did it right. We ordered a couple of salad entrees and they were brought to our table pretty quickly. Too quickly for our waiter, who didn't get me my drink until I was halfway done eating. The food was okay. The customer service was abysmal. We won't be back.

Rok L.

Yelp
The food at this place is underrated, it is very good. The pizzas and the entrees are very good. Prices are reasonable for DC. I will definitely be back again!

Max S.

Yelp
The food was good but the food took FOREVER at least 45 minutes a meal for apps entree and desert each. The ambiance was good bug nothing special.

Mike R.

Yelp
Serious hypothetical and philosophical question: is there a difference between a brewery and a "brewing company"? If you're looking for a brewery, this is not that. This is, however, a nice space with a broad menu, although the "brewing company" moniker is misleading - only two beers on the menu are homemade. Plenty of other offerings from regional breweries. Food was ok, Chili was very thin but tasty and Fried Fish Tacos were pretty good. The house Amber was refreshing and balanced. The menu also features interesting beer cocktails. We never got the obligatory "how is everything?" and we were ready for a second round. Things were okay until my wife ordered a hefeweizen from the bar when our server went MIA. When my wife returned to the table, the server immediately returned and my wife mentioned the hefeweizen. The server looked at her blankly and had no idea what she was saying. The bartender then brought a beer and we thought all was well. When we got the check, it had an IPA on it that was priced as much as a 4-pack. When I explained that we didn't order it and requested it be fixed, the server became argumentative, stating that it was the correct beer because "she drank it". There were a few ounces left, and it was definitely not an IPA. The bartender then arrived, and also argued that my wife ordered an IPA, but eventually relented and agreed to refund. Bottom line: this server at a "brewing company" didn't know the difference between a wheat beer and an IPA and staff are unnecessarily argumentative. This feels like a tourist trap (guilty) and I would avoid if looking for brewery

Ces A.

Yelp
Food is flavorful but could be better. The chicken wings is crispy but could have more old bay seasoning. The fish fillet was okay. Drinks were ok. Overall kind of pricey.

Arielle W.

Yelp
We were seated right away. My bf got a beer that was hot and he had to add ice to drink it. I got a Shirley temple that tasted like straight strawberry purée. Food came out fast and we found out why. My pizza was not cut, overdone and the cheese was plastic and chunky. Bf got a prime rib sandwich and the meat looked, tasted and smelled old. He ate French fries and I ate a little of my pizza and some onion rings for dinner.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Great location, food, and beer! I stopped in early on a Thursday night. I ordered a beer and by the time I was done, the place was packed! They've got beer for every taste. I had a burger at the bar and it was cooked perfectly. The service was awesome. Don't walk past Capitol City Brewing Company!

Katrina H.

Yelp
Great service- they were closed briefly for an unexpected water issue, but allowed us to sit inside while they finished up the repairs. Beautiful full bar- only two of their beers were Capital City (a blonde and a red) but they were solid.

Jo B.

Yelp
We had a party of six for lunch. The food was good and the bartender, who was asked to serve our table, did a great job. this was my second meal at Capitol City this week and both times were great. For the first meal, we arrived shortly after a party of 200! We were seated and served promptly. I will definitely return and would recommend the restaurant to anyone.

Arturo M.

Yelp
Solid Happy Hour with good beer and food selections. The house Kolsch beer was solid... very crisp, easy to drink and refreshing. The wings a la buffalo were also good. Across the street from the Hyatt where my Conference meetings were taking place so it was super convenient and close. My only complaint is that this place closes early. They are in a prime spot of town and doing a disservice to the community by not staying open later.

Amber J.

Yelp
Simple sports bar with simple bar food. We stopped in here after a little shopping. They offer a few of their own brews and other drafts/cans along with a full bar. Worth a stop if you're looking for a quick bite and drink.

Smitha R.

Yelp
For a "brewing company" there aren't even many in house brews. The server didn't know anything about beer -- not an issue and not their fault but expected better brews here. Strictly okay.

K S.

Yelp
Food was not good and took forever to arrive. Calamari appetizer was over 40 min wait. They were busy but there were still open tables so not "crazy busy." The beer prices were high for mediocre beer. Won't be back

Joy F.

Yelp
The food and service were great. The beers were pretty decent, I liked the amber waves. the ambiance was nice and good location

Jeffrey P.

Yelp
Excellent drinks and food. Our bartender, Eden, was amazing! Great afternoon stop while walking around
