Boba Fest Is Returning to the U District - Eater Seattle

"A new comedy club and bar is coming to Capitol Hill in early May, reports The Stranger. Called Capitol Hill Comedy/Bar, it will have a snacky food menu alongside alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Owners Dane Hesseldahl and Jes Anderson will be booking a lot of comics and hosting open mics, but they also want to create a place where comedians can hang out, chill, vibe, and come up with other synonyms." - Harry Cheadle

Excellent new comedy club located on the 2nd floor by the Post Pike Bar and Cafe the comedy club/bar. The club/bar is about a 1 minute walk from the Capitol Hill light rail station. The club has a spacious viewing area with many tables and padded benches on the side for extra seating. They offer a limted menu for food and the bar is located off to the side as you enter. Cover to enter the club varies by event (sometimes it free to enter-like for open mic nights)-check the calender for the club on their website for exact details. Good customer service at the bar and the audio system makes it easy to hear (although 1 night I was too it was a little too loud). The bathrooms are located nearby in a hallway outside the club. There is a small patio with tables and a nice view of Broadway Avenue if you want to go outside for some fresh air for a quick break or change of scenery. Overall, a pretty good place (4 1/2 stars) and a very good place if you want to get some good laughs and entertainment.

They serve food! I attended a fun event here and it happened to be during dinner hours, so I tried to plan ahead and see if there was a menu available. Found nothing online or Google regarding food so ended up late to he event and ate elsewhere nearby. Posting menu here for others to be aware they have food I would have happily eaten if I knew it was available.

A newer place that is getting going, but not yet at it's full potential. Not a bad night out, worth trying. We saw some decent talent and the food was pretty good, but the setup is a bit odd. There's no table service, so for food or drinks you need to stand in a long line (1 person working) and order at the bar. The food is apparently made off-site, but it arrives quickly and hot. Typical bar-food type menu. Each patron is required to get 2 items (food or drink) which is fairly common at comedy places, but if the show starts and you don't want to miss out, getting a refill or new item may not be convenient. The emcee was funny and we had a nice time. Remember, go early because parking in the area can be tricky, and you'll want to order up before the show starts.

A fantastic new comedy club that really caters to putting on the most unique shows you won’t see anywhere else. That includes Leave Your Troubles at The Door. It’s a completely improvised stand-up comedy showcase where comedians riff jokes based off problems audience members submit before the show. (You can stay anonymous, too!) Upcoming dates include 10/18, 11/15 and 12/13. I highly recommend checking it out :) The show also has a page on Instagram @leaveyourtroubles

“I tried being nice, but now I’m going to close the curtains.” The host of the club lecture customers who already shelled out for the show, that we were not filling up empty seats close to the stage. Why then put all the seats with table tops in the back? Here’s an idea. If you want customers who order food in your establishment to sit closer to the stage and fill up seats, put the seats with table tops closer to the stage! Crazy idea. Maybe don’t force them to use said empty seats and their laps as make-shift tables for your ego. Props to the patrons who said f it and just ate their meal behind the curtain and just listened to the show. Even the comics were like, “Don’t hate me, I don’t know why they did that!” Update: They have moved tables closer toward the stage. However the curtain is now seems to be a permanent placement.

The staff acts like they are doing you a favor by even letting you in and serving you. Great place if you want to be looked down upon as a peasant. Greatest of all , the beyond dull "comedy" , If you can even lump it into that category. I can't wait for this place to go away.

Go to Laugh Comedy Club in Roosevelt instead. Review: There is a minimum of 2 food or drink items per person. I ordered Kale salad that show up without kale. The minimum tipping option is 20%. But you have to stay in line to order food and fill your own water. Loud bar staff makes it impossible for those sitting in the back to listen to the show. Multiple people turned their head because one bartender acted like it was her show. No option to sit closer to stage as those seat are organized smaller than airplane sit and no table for food. The venue is smaller than Laugh Comedy Club with less food and drink option. At least over there they have real server.

It was my first time at this venue and really enjoyed the space, kind people and atmosphere. I had a great time at the Funny Queer Asians, and I hope this returns again. I will definitely return to the Cap Hill Comedy / Bar.

Yelp
I was visiting Seattle and staying at an Airbnb in the area, so I decided to check out this comedy club. I'd never heard of Leonard Ouzts, but I figured he couldn't be that bad. I read a few reviews about the club and decided to purchase the preferred seats instead of general admission. Some reviews said the seating could be tight if the show was crowded. I also figured we wouldn't have to rush to the show and wait in line if we paid for preferred seating. I purchased my tickets online a couple of weeks before the show without incident. We arrived at about 6:15pm and the show started at 7pm. It wasn't that crowded, so it turns out there was no need to pay extra for the preferred seats. The preferred seats were in the front row, which my sister wasn't happy about initially. She thought that the comedian might talk to us during the show and she didn't want that!! lol It turned out to be fine, though. I had an Amaretto stone sour, and my sister had a Coke. The stone sour was really good. There was a two item minimum per person, but we only had the one drink each. Another patron ended up having a medical emergency, and the paramedics had to be dispatched. That kinda through the entire show off, so we never got more drinks. We didn't see any food that appealed to us. Leonard Ouzts turned out to be okay. I wouldn't pay to see him again, but he was alright. I didn't find his opening acts funny at all, though. It's weird to me when comedians make their entire routines about sex. Like, you can't think of any other topic to make jokes about?? One of the openers only talked about sex aside from one political joke. My sister thought the host, Trey, was actually the funniest one there. The club was comfortable and clean with a warm ambiance. The bathroom was also really clean. Each staff member I encountered was helpful and pleasant. If I ever find myself in Seattle again, I'd definitely return for another show.

Yelp
Went during their dating comedy special. The hosts were amazing. I think the food could be better but it's a bar. The staff were awesome and I'd go again.

Yelp
Love that it was free seating. Drinks were good. Help yourself to the bar. Didn't try the food. Ambiance and lighting is great, sets the right mood for comedy night!! Parking can be an issue in the area it's always busy!

Yelp
Food wasn't the best, drinks were meh, service was impossible. I don't blame the employees as there were two servers in the whole crowded bar, and you couldn't even order at the counter, you had to wait for a server to come to you, which took 100 years. Was there for the comedy show and would go back for entertainment but not for a meal.

Yelp
Great place for a chill night full of laughs! I came by for the Sunday night open mic, and despite it being the end of the weekend, it was still quite packed with comedians! The bartender was super friendly and helped me find the host, who then helped me sign up. What I loved about this open mic was that there was nothing off-limits, and sets were a generous 4 minutes, which gave comedians a wide range of acts to choose from. It was only my second time performing, so I had no idea how long my set was actually going to be and didn't know if I'd have enough time. However, the host was also quite accommodating and allowed comics to go over the limit by about 15 seconds if they were almost done, which I really appreciated. I do recommend coming a bit earlier if you want to perform as the set list gets filled up quick! As the majority of the audience was comics and their friends, quite a lot had already left by the time my turn came. However, there were a few audience members who really just came for the show, and despite performing towards the end, it was a lot of fun. Overall, I had a fantastic time and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Best place! Love the layout and design, it's a cool comedy bar and I've had so much fun every time I go. Love the pickle back shots, it's the favorite of everyone. Also they tell jokes here.

Yelp
Went to the Funny Queer Asian's comedy line-up last month: I LOVED the empathetic storytelling, cringe, roasting, and laughs, and that they included South Asians, East Asians, Southeast Asians and Pacific Islanders in the line-up. This venue is such a convenient location and I enjoyed the drinks!!

Yelp
This place is brutal. Each comic was slightly more hack than the other. Not an original thought/joke in the lot. Food was nasty.

Yelp
I previously saw negative reviews for this bar, prior to going here and experiencing it for myself. It appears the business got Yelp to remove all negative reviews, let's see if they do the same for mine. I had a poor experience in this small, cramped space with bad lighting and worse food. The comedy was not enjoyable and I felt ripped off
