The street experience is VERY VERY VERY unfriendly to pedestrians for half of the Rusk St. frontage and ALL of the Travis St. frontage... No sense of nuanced human scale or texture here... This is inexcusable for a new building downtown (particularly one surrounded by local icons of architecture). It is SO bad, that it offsets the plain but reasonably well designed glassiness of the main lobby and Understory retail frontages. Also, while it's nice that there are some trees, what's with the awkward giant planter boxes obstructing the already narrow sidewalk on Rusk and along Travis? Somehow these boxes make the net gain even worse for pedestrians here.
