UPDATE: Drove over 20 minutes to go there to discover they were closed. I really dislike businesses that can't keep their hours. Met other people outside who were similarly disgruntled. They're nice folks, when they're there. Fun place Cap and Ron's. Karaoke on Wednesdays. The food that went out looked good. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. Two bars, but only the horseshoe bar was operational because it was slow. Go there. You'll love it.

First time visit! Good food! Very friendly staff! My waiter Amanda was a sweet heart, and attentive to us! ,Soft crab tacos were the bomb baby! Definitely a chill spot to hang out ANY day of the week. Karaoke is a plus! People are just friendly here! Thank you for making my date a pleasant one!

Ordered from here on door dash. Never heard of them thought I’ll try. Them fried Ravioli was 🔥 I didn’t even need the dipping sauce to be honest. Wasn’t a fan of the wings won’t enough seasoning and wasn’t cooked hard, skin was kind of gummy. Them nachos I was not expecting all that. The portion size was huge without the meat, cheese,and salsa. But did I tell you about the fried Ravioli tho 🔥

It was good. The onion rings are about the best I've had in town. In fact, all the food coming out looked good. It does get rather loud, so the new owner should listen to the customers. Apparently, there is a new owner. And changes have been made. It is frayed around the edges, so some upgrades could definitely be made. Especially the bathroom. All in all, will def go back.

"Under new management" but looks like the "same as the old boss". We didn't see much difference from the local dive bar from years ago, although, they finally got the smokers outside - big improvement! It was obnoxiously loud in the restaurant area and the service was... challenging. We had to request silverware, but it never came, so we got it ourselves (plastic sets that include the only salt & pepper we could find). We asked for "another round" - it never came. We asked for ketchup, but it never came, so we got it ourselves. Unfortunately, it wasn't that busy, either. We did notice one server working very hard for customers, but not ours. The good news is... surprisingly... the food was pretty darn good! Excellent onion rings and maybe the best Rueben in OV with in-house made corned beef, and lots of it. Nothing worse than a thin Rueben! Only (minor) complaint was...it was very messy. The marbled rye didn't stand a chance with all the "juice". I suspect that the chef doesn't drain or dry off the sauerkraut before cooking on the grill... and that's an easy fix.

If I could get this staff at every restaurant, I'd never have a complaint. Will most definitely be back. And reccomend this place to everyone I meet.

We stopped in for a drink and stayed for about an hour or so. We didn't have any expectations and had a good time... it was a mixed crowd but we didn't feel out of place. We ordered the hot dog topped w/grilled onions and cheese and a side of onion rings. I'd definitely go again. Update 6/18: We go just about every week as this has become our favorite bar.

Cap’n Ron’s food is shockingly good every time I’ve tried something different on the menu. Chicken quesadilla, nachos, grilled chicken salad, and this time Mac n’ cheese bites and a philly steak sub. 🥴🤤The vibe is also pretty nice and bartenders are top tier.

Ok Cap' Ron's is BACK! And it's better than ever! I am so happy the smoke smell is GONE! They still have some more clean up to do, per the bartender. However, the food was amazing, the drinks were too. Everyone working was friendly and inviting. Everything was great except for some older customers oogling a young server. He told a older manager looking man that he would come more often if the staff looked more like the young girl. The manager replied with, and that's why I didn't hire anymore.

Absolutely hands down worst experience! The food was disgusting no flavor at all! The crab mad was more like a soup oozing heavy cream w again no flavor def waste of money! The customer service is also 0/10 they charged us full price for everyone even though we didn't touch our food. Clearly they do not care for customer service and seem to cater to their regulars Service was horrible as was the food def will not return or recommend

It's kinda a weird vibe in here, although I came with some of a softball team on a Sunday afternoon post games. You have to order at the bar for food & drinks and they bring it out to you. We chose to sit outside and enjoyed the oscillating fans that misted water. We did not enjoy the extremely LOUD music that was playing, even outside. It was a bit much. The food was good, bar service was good, and we MAY come here again. I think it needs a thorough clean up and maybe is more of a bar/club/nightlife type of feel- it has that icky, sticky sort of feeling to it. Just kinda rundown. The food was good though, so it kinda balanced out, I guess. I'll come back if a group of my friends are, but most likely not on my own.

Ron's has been sold and is permanently closed. Unfortunately if you did not get a chance to visit this restaurant, you will not be able to. Hopefully they will turn it into another restaurant and not a parking lot or apartment complex.

Great people....amazing bar service. Maddie is wonderful and Jose in the back is great. A must stop for those coming through ocean view.

The building/ restaurant made no sense. We saw the menu online and wanted to get food. There's a sticker saying 21+ on the door but when you go in it's like a full restaurant. We aren't 21 yet there was no bouncer to kick us out, no employees anywhere. Not sure if it's a gay bar?

Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Burger was delicious and very reasonably priced. Sorry I took the pic of the burger after a few bites . Drink specials are great! I'll be back.

Had my bday party there June 7 and really enjoyed it will be coming back ty so much for everything

Lots of changes with management recently but overall their service hasn't changed and food is still reasonably priced and they give hefty servings. And it's soooo good!

Been coming here for about a year now. It is really big inside! The servers are kind and to everyone. Sadly, I heard it will be closing soon due to an unfortunate familial situation the owner is going through. I'm glad I've gotten to experience this place over the last year and change

Services amazing! Drinks great! Food fantastic! However a man came up to my friends and I asking for feet pictures. We declined him and told him no thank you we do not want to do that. When he came back over and tried to wrap his arm around my friend, I told him he was making us uncomfortable and needed to leave. He then began to get very aggressive with us, another man who came to our aid, and several other people around us. When we told the bouncer and manager about this the manager proceeds to have a drink with the man and have a friendly conversation. We were completely written off and treated as if we were the problem. Horrible experience because of this manager and this man, expected more!

When I called he said, "thanks for bothering me. How may I help you?" If that doesn't say anything idk what will. My wife and I went there and the guy working seemed drunk and they only had a limited menu because it is Thanksgiving...say that on the phone next time.

This establishment can be easily missed if you're not paying attention. The parking here can also be kind of tricky but all in all a very chill spot. If your looking for that after work drink and a quick bite before going home, this is a good spot. The drinks are inexpensive and the food is great. Haven't been here on the weekends but it appears that they have an area for live music which is pretty cool too.

OMG so my husband and I went here for lunch I was like a bar really I doubt they have good food he said everyone says they have good food and to our surprise the people were right clean atmosphere the waiteress was excellent checking on us making sure everything was good And my gosh the food was soooo good I was in heaven the food came on hot fresh good big portions and for that we ordered a cheese steak and fries I ordered the steak and onions it came with a side salad potato and Texas toast all for $20.03 can u believe that Other people that were there said they come for the cheap beer n wings so I'll have to go back to try the wings

Arrived at 1230 place was happening. Ordered tuna melt claimed it's a fan late night favorite. Cold tuna, cold ff, cheese wasn't melted, bread not even grilled. Said it was a hot tuna melt. Crab dip chips were great dip was cold not hot. Maybe the gas was off.

We tried to come gor lunch/brunch on Sunday. There was not a waitress. Only a bartender and a cook. How were we to order or receive our food.

I like this little spot! The drinks are cheap and the White folks are friendly! There's two full bars with plenty of seating. Service was quick and efficient. I wish I'd gotten the bartenders name because she made my tequila sunrise fantastically! It's located just down the street from my house so I want to start coming more often and meeting the locals. Another go to I can add to my list!

Terrible experience. Ate the take out we picked up after having to navigate our way through and drunken crowd. Immediately got sick. Over priced for two entrees.

Did not look like much from the outside, but you can't judge a book from it's cover. We went inside anyway. Friendly prompt service, and hands down the BEST burger I've ever eaten. Prices were reasonable too. I would definitely eat here again!

Norfolk, Virginia (Oceanview) --- "Cap'n Ron's" (aka "Harry's") appears to be a nice local hangout ... Originally "Harry's" (the dad) & now "Cap'n Ron's" (the son) ... I came here after seeing other reviews of this place. I agree with the other reviews and some aspects but not others. I'm not much of a burger guy but I have to admit the burger here was excellent. But in other ways I'm a little disappointed. The location does not offer much, and the interior leaves a lot to be desired. It's not quite a dive bar but it's close. The outdoor area is spacious but it's basically in a parking lot, and this is not the type of place I would bring my kids. The restrooms were disgusting and when you walk by the outdoor area all you can smell is pot. I'll leave it up to you to decide how you like the place.

My husband and I were on a little vacation and decided to come here for lunch. The food was good. Fries were great. The bartender forgot to put our appetizer in and my sandwich came out wrong but overall the food was good. The regulars who were there were very obnoxious and loud.

I went on a Saturday night. Pretty interesting place. Lived in Oceanview for a year and finally decided to pull the trigger and go for some football because I didn't want to drive anywhere. It's not a bad sports bar. Four TVs line a wall above a pool table and provide ideal coverage for a couple games. Around about 9:00 pm, it turns into a more of a lower quality club. Definitely wouldn't recommend hanging around if you're trying to watch the late games. Down sides to the place are poor lighting, smokey atmosphere, and club after 9:00 pm. Up sides are cheap and pretty good food and beer, quiet and good for games until the club.

This is my go to place! The food is yummy, the waitresses are amazing! Whitney is the glue that holds the place together. It's always a a good time! Karaoke is fun, the bands are good!

Horrible service. Security said low-key homophobic slurs to my friend so we had to leave. The place smells like puke and piss. I asked a question about hours and the security guard tells us that we're bugging him with questions. Awful place and I'll ne we be back. I can't wait until this piss poor place closes.

Great service, I love Meredith and Katie they are the best. The drinks are good and strong and they have great specials on Wednesday! The place is pretty clean a nice dive bar. The only thing I didn't like was the smoke! Other than that I'll be definitely coming back on Wednesday

Not a family friendly place to take young children. It was loud and around pool tables and bars. Food was overpriced for the amount they gave. It was hard to find the entrance to the place. Took a while to even get service. Wouldn't reccomend this place unless your going out with your buddies to drink and shoot pool. If your looking for a family restaurant with good oysters at a decent price for the amount of food, I can give a better reccomendation.

Honestly, I love this place. It's Oceanview's answer to the hit 80's show cheers because everyone will eventually know your name. The owner, well his son? Gets a bad rap, but meeting him and being an entrepreneur, I get his gruff, but welcoming demeanor. Even on a bad night, he will still stop and shake your hand. Being that I was treated horrible at greenies, being here lets me know that there is a place in Oceanview that is actually concerned about your business. Good bartenders Good waitstaff Good security. I like it here.

I've been here about five times. To keep it short, their bartenders are rude and inattentive. Their food specials have always been DELISH and fresh, especially for their dive-y vibe. They often have live music on the weekends. And I've only had an issue with another customer once, and the ever so kind bouncer was quick to escort him out.

Been going there since I was young early 20s and I only drink and I did not eat. Now I am older I have tried their food which is absolutely awesome! I totally recommend going there prices are reasonable food is out of this world.

Cap'n rons is a relaxed spacious sports bar with pool tables, darts, small dance floor, and tvs. The old bay wings are worth coming back for! Waitresses were very tentative and friendly. Only issue I noticed was the occasional smoke smell because I have a sensitive nose. I'd definitely come back.

This is a Sports Bar and the person that checked ID's tonight on April 8th, 2016 refused to let me in because of athletic gear. I have been here multiple times and he just pushed me and my out of town guess back out the door. Was one of my favorite local spots.

I have only been in here during the day, as a karaoke host I tend to avoid karaoke at night unless I'm hosting it (this isn't a bar I work so....) and not really a fan of live cover bands so I'm strictly a daytime kinda guy for this place. As a gay man, walking into a place like this with my husband I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasently surprised with how welcoming both the regulars and mid day staff was. Also, musically it was a good mix of modern and classics across several genres to appeal to a diverse crowd. The food was ok. I honestly can't say it was great, but it was good enough that given how we were treated, the nearness to my house, and the very reasonable prices I would eat here again.

This is my favorite DIVE BAR, they always got karaoke going on here, the food is fair priced and good to eat there are a handful of usuals. It's close to home and drinks are fairly priced, you get your best bang for your buck with the mixed drinks I'm definitely recommending this to my squad

Not a kid friendly place - but lots of tvs and pool tables. Definitely a locals bar but the service was friendly and the food was ok.

Do not go if you expect any precaution for the pandemic. Not one mask seen while picking up our order.

Great hometown bar/restaurant! Good food, good patrons, good bands. Brandy is my favorite bartender. Super sweet, remembers your preferences, and takes good care of you. They do smoke inside, so if you can't deal with that order your food to go and enjoy at home. This is my go-to regular place and always will be!

Uhm spent $36 dollars on food that was described as "GIANT". I received 4 tiny mushrooms and 5 VERY TINY scallops. The food was cold and did not taste right. Way too over priced for the food I received. I feel bad even giving it 1 star.

Cheap good food, great service! Seating was comfortable. Plus, if you're a smoker (I'm not, but I don't mind those that do smoke), you can smoke in the dining room! I didn't think such places existed around here anymore! Looks like the perfect place to bring some friends (if they don't mind the smell of cigarette smoke), have a beer and play some pool or watch tv. Their wings are cheap and delicious! And the waitress made sure we had everything we needed, even though she seemed to be the only one on duty and appeared to be a bit overwhelmed. (It was a busy night.) I will come here again.

I hope your current on all your vaccinations if you want to eat and drink here. Watched some games here and the bar is ok if you don't mind the smell of smoke (they actually have a cigarette dispenser you used to see back in the day) Just another dive bar.

To be clear, this is a smokey dive, and doesn't pretend to be something else. It's very casual, the crew is fun, and they have the best karaoke in town. Great wings. Lots of TVs. A no-pretense, fun, affordable bar. Much better than Greenies for sure.

Capn rons will always hold a spot in my heart. Love this place, the bartenders, servers, food and fair priced drinks. Karaoke is always a blast. If you're looking for a great dive bar, this is it.

It's a hole in the wall so I didn't expect much. There was an awesome band playing that night that I highly enjoyed! Quite an eclectic assortment of people gather here but they all are very friendly toward each other!

Don't go here if you are a non-smoker! They skate around the VA smoking law by having a tiny, that seats maybe three, non-smoking room that is practically outside and not heated! I showed up and just as quickly drove away.

So my wife went to this place to get some food to-go. She ordered her food at the bar, talked to the bartender for a minute, walked around the place. She thought it was great. Her food order was done, she went to pay and realized the whole order was wrong. The bartender told her she had to wait for the owner to come over and reverse the charges on some of the food items my wife did not order. My wife waited for 5 minutes for the owner to come over. The owner was belligerently drunk and called my wife "stupid" and gave her nasty attitude for apparently impeding him. My wife got very upset and started to cry. Let's just say if I where there I would have hurt him. I've never had the pleasure of going to Cap'n Ron's and I'm glad I never will. Stay away from this place if you have any respect for yourself.

The only reason I give it two stars is I liked my bartender and the chicken strips are good. If you are not a smoker you might actually die from second hand smoke. The owner is so mean to the bartenders, he was constantly putting her down, I even at one point I told her I'm sure she could find another bar to work at, because there is no money that good to take that verbal abuse from him!

Worse service ever. Waited for my food for over a hour. The server did not know what she was doing, granted it was her "first" day, but did not check up on us at all. When asked for a drink, she did not know any of the beers that were on tap, eventually went up to the bar since she did not know anything. After getting crab dip, our waitress asked us about our sides for our entree. At this point we know our food was not even put in yet. After waiting a little over a hour we finally got our salad. Not even the correct salad, there was supposed to be 3 Caesar salads, but we received 1 Caesar salad and 2 "house" salads. Which lacked salad dressing, crotons, and the lack of hearing since it was supposed to be Caesar salads. No utensils were to be found, we had to ask for them. Finally we got our food, and it was as cold as a dead body. Food was under a warmer, (if that), and all she had to do was run it. She wasn't paying attention to our food, nor our table. I was going to get another beer if she checked up on us, but was not even worth it.

New favorite bar right here. I loved it. great food cheap beer. Had some live music. Everyone had a smile on their face. I highly recommend.
