Capo La Gala Hotel & Wellness (Vico Equense, Amalfi Coast) 2 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the mad rush from Naples to Capri or the far side of the Sorrentine Peninsula it’s too easy to breeze right past Sorrento itself; a shame, for while not technically on the Amalfi Coast this side of the Bay of Naples is blessed with some extraordinary spots, the village of Vico Equense among them. It scarcely gets more picturesque than this gorgeously weathered seaside village, though the Hotel Capo La Gala, just on its fringes, gives it a run for its money." - Tablet Hotels

Arrived for 12 nights, hotel and all its facilities were fantastic. The food was excellent in both restaurants and the service was impeccable. The Capri bar was excellent. The life guards were brilliant and made sure we were well looked after whilst spending time relaxing on the sun beds. Mikey ( Miguel) and his colleagues at the Capri bar were amazing and thoroughly looked after us. Wonderful lunches every day. Shuttle service to Vico was a huge added benefit and was extremely efficient. Full marks. Extra special thanks to our friend Giuseppe at reception

Would give 4.5 stars if I could. Lovely small hotel located some 5 minutes from Vico Equense - a small town with some nice restaurants and a train station from which you can be in Sorrento in 20 minutes. |Lovely cool bedroom with nice size terrace and sea views. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was excellent with great choice.|Just marked down slightly as felt food choice for dinner was limited and also felt that water when poolside should be provided freely and not as a charge.

The hotel physical plant was exactly as advertised and that was what we came for. ... so we were very happy. The lifeguards were great touch and very good demeaner and fun to try and speak with. That said the four stars (3.5) were for two reasons - one, they, like a four seasons are trying to squeeze every penny out of their guests. 10 euro for the chocolate bar in the freezer? Come on. 20 or 25 euro for a cocktail? Why? Is that special lemon negroni really worth like $32 USD? NO! You can make money and still have happier customers. Second was the lack of English spoken by service and wait staff. We were paying $!K a night and at that price you should have staff that easily understands English and they did not. Also, 75% of the guests were speaking English to each other - Germans, Danes, English and Americans. Only people that did not understand were staff and that is a shame. Their wine list was good and was not priced like their cocktails so that was the saving grace and I was happy to spend 200 Euro on a great bottle of Italian Nebbiolo vs the cocktails. The drain in the bathroom was barely working. The safe was ancient and did not work at all. We did not care about that stuff because we were at the sea. What we did care about is that we did not feel taken advantage of and that is how any visitor would feel. Then upon departure I wanted to break 10 euro to give 5 to guy that parked car for us and 5 to porter but they couldnt break my 10 because it had this teenie tiny little rip in the corner. After 4K euro in billing from them they couldnt accept this monumental risk. That is their service in a nutshell.

One of the best hotels I’ve had the pleasure to stay at, feels like being on beautiful boat, the service is amazing, and find time to get served by Giuliano the bagnino in the beachfront, the real Italian luxury experience! Hidden gem!

Capo la Gala simply is a magical place! The infrastructure and the location are superb, there are a lot of nice details throughout the hotel, and there is always a sense of privacy and elegance. |The staff is top notch, from the maitre to the barman, to all the staff! All of this topped with excellent food. |This is truly one of my favourite spots on earth and I wish everyone to experience it for at least once in their lives!

A beautiful relaxing stay at this boutique hotel located not far from Sorrento. It was the perfect stop before heading to Capri and Postiano. Hotel was lovely and very relaxing. The view from our room was simply stunning. The food was lovely and staff were friendly and apologies I did not get the name of one of the team members who helped book our ferry tickets and transfer to Sorrento for our ferry to Capri. Hotel is nestled into a mountain so few steps down and up but a lift is available. ||My only disappointment was that for what you pay you would expect breakfast to be fully included, not have some items included and have to pay extra for Egg Royal or pancakes. It's a small hotel so you'd think they could have included all items for breakfast especially when for what they charge. However, having said this I would definitely visit again.

This was my first boutique hotel and I must say, it really set the bar high. From the incredible staff, to the breathtaking views… I was in awe and essentially in paradise for a week! We had a room with a balcony overlooking the ocean and it was the most amazing view to start and end your day to! The rooms seem to be outfitted in nautical fashions with Italian flare and that theme carries on throughout the hotel. The hotel grounds has enough amenities so there’s no way to get bored! There’s the gym if you’re a gym rat and you get a lovely view while you work out, there’s the spa where you can indulge in a HOST of treatments. We got a couples massage and facials and it was just out of this world. Not all of the staff is fluent in English but they really do try and it’s an opportunity to learn/practice Italian as a guest in their abode. The food was fresh & simple which was a much needed change in my usual day to day diet. Overall… 10/10 would recommend your stay here! You won’t regret it!

The view of and proximity to the sea are heavenly. The decor is warm and fashionable. The breakfast was delicious and inventive. The service was attentive but not as warm as one would hope for from a 5 star hotel. All that being said, I feel as though our stay at Capo la Gala was not worth the amount of hyatt points used, particularly given a stay at the Park Hyatts in Paris, Maldives, French Riviera and every other hyatt property are less points. Additionally, the room provided for 40,000+ points in October does not include a balcony - just a very small window from which to view the sea. The most disappointing aspect however is the fact that Capo la Gala does not recognize nor provide any additional benefits to Lifetime Globalists of Hyatt. I realize that complimentary upgrades are not guaranteed and are a luxurious perk for Hyatt Globalists, but when available Mr. And Mrs. Smith properties that take advantage of hyatts booking platform should be happy to provide them. Instead, Capo la Gala charged 100 euro per night for one of the 3 available upgrades during our stay. In summary, very lovely hotel but not if you’re using hard earned hyatt points.
