Alabama’s longest‑running cinema screens indie and classic films in a 1941 neighborhood theater. Run by a local nonprofit, its 2025 marquee refresh revived Cloverdale buzz—check the calendar for festivals and special series.
Great place to watch movies that you cannot find in the large movie chains. Prices are about the same.

When I lived in East Alabama, this was one of my favorite places for date night. I have so many memories of seeing some amazing films here that weren't playing anywhere else in the region. The theater itself has been beautifully renovated and, as a film lover, I'm so glad they're around to fill a niche.

I love the variety of events/films offered at the Capri! It has a great neighborhood feel and fantastic staff. Very reasonably priced concessions. Many of their films can’t been seen on the big screen anywhere else, although they also show regular new releases.

A nice theatre with a bit of history behind it. Reasonably priced tickets and concessions. Nice atmosphere. Good quality projection and sound system as well. Will definitely come back .

Cool theater with interesting movies. The staff is friendly but the one guy who owns it (?) is such a sourpuss. Called to ask about renting it out and he completely made me decide to look elsewhere. Never friendly when we go see films.
Overall I’d recommend it to someone who is interested in film and history. I do love the interactive screenings.

The new marquee looks fabulous! It adds to that part of the Cloverdale revitalization.

You can't beat a local independent theater showing smaller movies. Visit and you might see something you love.

Yelp
The greatest attribute The Capri has is its uniqueness. It's a small, selective independent film theater with few like it anywhere else. The added benefit of serving alcohol is always a plus! Wine starts at $5 a glass along with most of their beers. My only major complaint is the run down feel of the theater. The seats could use some renovation so that you don't feel like you're sharing skin cells with thousands of other Americans.
I have seen "the book thief" and "skeleton twins" here and generally love the selection The Capri offers. Not really the place you'd go to see the newest releases, but if you're looking for something unique or an alternative to the stereotypical movie theater date, go here!

Yelp
The Capri is a unique experience. Please understand that this is a very old movie theatre dedicated to independent films and classics. Perfect location with El Rey, Tomatino's, Café Louisa, and Sinclair's surrounding it. Drinking white Russians while watching "The Big Lebowski" at the Capri is one off the bucket list.
The theatre is currently undergoing renovations. I can't wait to see what they get done. I'm looking forward to upgrading this review to five stars when they get the "run down" feeling out of the way.

Yelp
Pretty much the only game in town in Montgomery and the River Region when it comes to seeing independent non-multiplex movie offerings. Recently renovated with updated digital projection equipment, new seats, and even better concession offerings. Memberships are available that lower the per-ticket admission price. A true neighborhood theater.

Yelp
I don't like everything they show here, but I am so thankful for the variety this place brings to town. Foreign films, independent films, short films, classics I missed on the big screen. What a great thing it is that Montgomery has this place! Now if we can just raise the money to refurbish it a bit.

Yelp
Best independent..art ...film house in Montgomery...can't wait till it reopens in late spring 2016 after its renovation.

Yelp
Not a bad joint. The only reason I give it a two is for the film selection a beer selection. The theater is pretty old and small screen. Chairs are really bad. I probably will go back.
