Caprice Holdings Plans Launch of Another Casual Dining Brand | Eater London

"Planned as an informal, more casual offshoot of the high-end St James's brasserie, this café concept is being positioned as a scalable, medium-sized chain that could be rolled out across the UK. The company intends to use the former Chinese restaurant site on North Audely Street in Mayfair (acquired in spring 2016) for the new brand, though staff at the existing venue said they were unaware of any change of use; the opening is not expected until 2019." - Adam Coghlan

Food and service were great at Caprice. I particularly loved the restaurant week special menu featuring the three sisters farm and enjoyed the peach, burrata & tomato dish, as well as the three sisters salad. My favorite pasta was the eggplant lasagna in tomato sauce — it was phenomenal. The ribbon pasta el pesto was lackluster and needed flavor/salt, but the salmon was cooked to perfection. We also had the apple/pecan dessert a la mode and it was amazing. Overall I enjoyed my experience and would definitely recommend and come back when in Redlands!!

Went here for our first time two weeks ago. Was pleasantly surprised. Drinks are super good. And the food!!! Let me tell you the food is amazing. We have actually went back already. Definitely keeping this place in our restaurant rotation!!

Really a gem! Beautiful outdoor seating on the patio! Filet Mignon Carpacio appetizer was fantastic! Bone marrow was very well seasoned! The secret family recipe eggplant lasagne was the bomb! Wine selection was vast and well selected. Truely a memorable dinning experience!

Great place to eat if you are a foodie. 2 for lunch $100 one soup & sandwich. One 4 oz Salmon. We missed the lunch rush by coming at 1:10 Just about 8-10 other people inside & a few more outside. Pretty slow inside. They Set us down with water & didn't even ask about drinks. Over 20 went by & we are about to walk out when the guy said sorry he had to take a phone call. So We stayed & ordered our food. The bread came with our drinks. The guy says I know your in a hurry for lunch so I’m bringing your soup with your food ok? Yes please hurry. Soup came but no food. After 50 minutes we said just put our order in a bag we don’t have time to eat it. When we did get to look at our food they gave us a tail. We had told them 3 times, cook Salmon pan sear crispy, no tail. Ya she will not eat the tail. It’s hard & dry. So much for crispy. It was soggy Salmon. Goes to show you even the best restaurant with the best chef can have a the staff ruin your meal. I guess everyone has a bad day. What were they thinking. It’s considered an insult to be served a tail at a fine restaurant, especially asking three times that you don’t get the tail.

My husband and I ended up here spontaneously. We were not dressed appropriately but still were welcomed in. We definitely felt out of place with our casual clothing and no one judged us! We had wine, an appetizer wild ahi tartare and for main course we had Ribbon pasta with Buy instead of meatballs I did shrimp since they ran out (we came in late), Angel hair pasta with baby squid. Everything was seasoned perfectly and our waitress constantly filled out water glass and for refills on or drinks. I want to go back asap! Perfect date night. Also, we dinned inside. Quiet, dimmed light ambience.

Google
Wonderful restaurant and amazing food and service! Thank you Noah for the great service and special accommodations for our big birthday lunch. We have been going to Caprice for years and it just seems to get better and better. We appreciate the wild caught fresh fish especially along with the fine quality of ingredients. Superb! Prices are very reasonable as well.

Google
Stopped in for lunch. Great atmosphere, very relaxed and friendly. The server delivered some warm, fresh, grilled bread drizzled with olive oil. Delicious! The Roquefort salad with grilled chicken was mouth watering. The portion size was incredible and every bite was sumptuous. The burger and fries with caramelized onions was delectable. Awesome staff made for a memorable experience.

Google
It had been a while since we dined here. But I'm sure glad we chose to come back (9/28/24). Dinner was delicious. Wild Yellowfin tuna , Butternut Squash Risotto and Beet salad. The appetizers, Kurobuta pork belly and Baby Artichoke Crostini, were excellent as starters. Everything was plated beautifully, and the quality and freshness did not disappoint. Thank you, Caprice staff, we'll see you soon.

Yelp
Had dinner here with my girlfriend for an early dinner. I've been wanting to try this place as I always pass by when I'm in the area. I ordered the prosciutto crostini (which is a crostini topped with burrata, green peas, Asian pear, & parmigiano) & pasta ribbons & pesto (which is asparagus, mushrooms, parmigiano, & I got mine with shrimp). My friend got pappardelle pasta (which came with grilled shrimp, spinach, mushrooms, & lemon-thyme cream sauce). I enjoyed the crostini more than the pasta. The crostini was really good as all the components compliment each other. The sweetness of the pear masks out the saltiness of the prosciutto. Then you get the crunch from the crostini & asparagus. But IMO, there was a little too much prosciutto for my liking, and it was hard to eat as there were so many elements on the crostini & everything kept falling off. As much as I love pesto, this pasta dish wasn't it. It was a little too dry for my liking. The pesto was pastey and made the pasta dry. The only thing I liked in this dish was my shrimp. I didn't get a taste of my friend's pasta but it looked better than my pesto pasta. The service here was great. We were rated right away. We sat outdoors & still got good service. This restaurant is tucked away in the corner of State & 5th St of Downtown Redlands. I didn't really see the inside of the restaurant, but from my experience of sitting outside, it's pretty chill. The outdoor patio faces State St, so it can get busy with people passing by. I would definitely return here to try their other food items.

Yelp
I've lived here for years and finally made it over here for the first time. We tried several dishes and everything tasted amazing. We started out with the prosciutto crostini which was a great combination of flavors. We then tried the sautéed shrimp, which was a little underwhelming. It was a dish with six shrimp and some sauce. Overall loved the taste of the apps, but I think they were a little overpriced. I could definitely be convinced to get the prosciutto again but not the shrimp. My main was the butternut squash risotto with added chicken. I loved the flavor and texture combinations and would definitely order again. My friend enjoyed the eggplant lasagna. Overall very happy to have finally made it out here, and will definitely be coming back to further explore the menu!

Yelp
Reservations required to be seated in an almost empty dining room. Our server was not willing to make small changes to an item. The vegetarian dish I ordered was bland and very expensive.

Yelp
Enjoyed lunch last week at Caprice. The beet salad is a must. Sitting outside is the best in the afternoon or evening. If they served breakfast now that would be wonderful. Food, wine, service, ambience are all 5 stars.

Yelp
We went to Caprice Cafe to celebrate our 29th anniversary. The Ahi appetizer was delicious fresh and very flavorful. This one item added the third star...I decided to stick with seafood and ordered a pasta pesto dish with Salmon. My fish was hammered it was not fresh and was very very dry. It was so over cooked the bottom had a very thick dark crust. Too bad Unfortunately the server did not come back to our table. My husband enjoyed his meal, lamb chops. Dessert lukewarm Latte x2 and apple dumpling also too cold to melt the ice cream, sent back, unfortunately they heated it in the microwave which turned the philo into mush. There were glimpses of promise but Caprice just did not deliver. It was very apparent our server was proud of the restaurants history. Unfortunately she did not have appropriate back-up. So I do not recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
I've been a customer for the past 10 years! I can't believe I haven't reviewed this restaurant. If first sentence is not proof of the good food, excellent service and chill vibes, here are more details. During our latest visit I had the Pesto Pasta with Salmon. It's my go to dish and hubby also had grilled pasta meal. Both dishes were good and flavorful. The bread with olive oil is always a nice addition to any meal. The food is always consistent here and so is the service. If you're looking for a great date spot in Redlands, checkout Caprice. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Food was okay and the service was lacking. We had the pesto pizza, crab cakes, chicken wrapped prosciutto, and the wagyu burger. The chicken was dry/salty and the wagyu burger was smothered in a type of teriyaki sauce. Unfortunately our main entrees took over 45 minutes to arrive, after the appetizer. The server did not come to check in or give us any updates. Once our meals arrived, there was no follow up to see how the food was. Unfortunately, this will be our first and last time coming here.

Laura D.

Yelp
Very nice staff but the food isn't what it should be. Bland, flavorless and boring. Crab cakes are overly sweet, fall apart so fast you can't get them on your plate and the tartar-like sauce is pretty bad.

Yelp
Food: I came here twice, once with a dear friend and another time with my bf, I really really tried and wanted to like this place because it just looks so nice and fancy, but the food was not so nice and fancy unfortunately. I thought maybe it's just this one dish that was mediocre, maybe I'll like another dish, and so I tried 6 different dishes. Crab cake tasted alright but such small portion with 2 tiny circles. Wagyu burger was not special at all, even in n out cheeseburger is far superior. Meatball pizza was so salty, I felt my blood pressure rising, I had to drink so much water. Rainbow trout was very bland, it needed a lot more seasoning. Bruschetta bread was so hard to bite down on. I wasn't sure exactly what the spicy angel hair pasta was trying to be, it was confusing. But I do have to say that the food plating and presentation were well done. Price: it was about $20-30 per main dish, but considering the taste and quality of the food, it was not worth the high cost Ambiance: they really do fantastic job with interior decoration, so much greenery with a big tree inside in the middle. It has the high class romantic vibes that I love. There's also outdoor patio, you can watch the people passing through downtown redlands Service: no issues, waiter checked in on us during the meal to ask if we needed anything, gave us balsamic sauce with olive oil with the free bread when requested Parking: it's located in the middle of downtown redlands, I always park in the public parking structure across from marth green eating room, and walk over to the restaurant. But there is also street parking available everywhere

Yelp
Our server was not very good. The server did not introduce themselves or ask how our day was going. She skipped one in our party while taking orders. The shrimp was overcooked and horrible. I sent it back. The pizza was undercooked and not very good either. I don't know why this place gets such great reviews. The two people in our party that ordered the Wagyu burgers are the only ones who like their dinner. The pasta was not good. It's like they're trying to be an Italian restaurant, but don't know how to cook Italian food. This is my first and only time coming to this restaurant. We will never go again. FYI, if you want bread, they charge each person in your party for the bread $1.25 I'm sorry bread should be free especially at their prices.

Yelp
Caprice Cafe is a popular restaurant out in downtown Redlands but it kinda falls a little flat in its execution. Is that to say it's bad? Not really, but it's not particularly mind blowing either. We opted for some crab cake appetizers, wagyu burger, and rainbow trout. Crab Cake appetizers were pretty good, prepared and compacted just right. But beyond that, it's just that: good crab cakes Wagyu burger is what everyone raves about, but really? It's a good burger yes, but is it particularly special? Not really, but I'd recommend it if you're eating here. What's not to love about a good hearty burger? Rainbow trout was probably the weak link out of our meal. The green beans were okay, the rainbow trout was cooked well and it was well, a solid 3/5. So all in all, it's a cute restaurant with decent food in downtown Redlands but not particularly life changing.

Yelp
A friend and I were walking along State Street, the main drag, in downtown Redlands looking for a place for dinner. There were many options. The cute outdoor eating area of Caprice Cafe drew us in. Unfortunately, the outdoor seating was full, but we were able to get a small table inside, which also had a quaint appearance and was tastefully decorated. Once, seated, it took a while to get a menu and to get served, but our server then noticed that, and was spot on from that point forward. The menu is quite large, with a huge variety of choices. It took a while for us to both study. As it was a hot evening, we both chose salads. I chose the Roquefort salad with chicken added. My friend had the beet salad with trout added. My salad was a very generous portion and it was tasty and fresh. My friends salad was smaller, but also less pricey. She said that she enjoyed it as well. They brought out complimentary delicious bread with olive oil, and even brought more when requested. I enjoyed my dinner with a glass of vihno verde. All in all, we had a very nice, but casual meal. If I find myself in downtown Redlands, I would eat there again.

Yelp
The Bread is absolutely amazing. Soft and fluffy and grilled with yummy olive oil Will definitely be back for more bread.

Yelp
This place was good but did not meet my expectations for a nice sit down restaurant. The restaurant itself is pretty small which is just not great as they have not much room to move around for customers as well as servers i did notice. They have a connected booth section which looks nice but very close to the tables near so our table of 2 felt like a party of 5 with the couple and the baby next to us. Which we wanted a romantic dinner and it didn't feel like that. Originally we asked to seat elsewhere but they said they were booked so we understood. The food was pretty decent. Nothing too crazy but not bad so I'm in between. I honestly thought the appetizer of the pork belly was way better than the steak dinner I got. The service was pretty good overall. Place is small so everyone is very observant!

Yelp
Omg! Absolutely love this place. We decided to drive to Redlands to look at some of the Victorian houses and drove down old town Redlands Main Street and found this amazing restaurant Caprice. My wife had the short ribs I had the chicken wrapped in prosciutto absolutely delicious. Also we shared a Roquefort salad. That was incredible and had crème brûlée for dessert. The staff was amazing. Will definitely drive All the way out here just for this restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good overall. They didn't oversalt or overseason anything. Decor is nice and they have a live tree growing inside with some lights on it. It feels like you're eating outdoors, but you're inside. Waiters were on point with service and nice, kept up on the refills. We started with the ahi tuna tartare. It came with avocado mixed in and some chips on the side. No complaints about the dish; it was refreshing and good. Oh, the bread they give you before anything is so good as well. Crispy on the outside, fluffy and warm on the inside. My wife ordered the rainbow trout. I can't speak to if the dish is good or not since I only has one small bite from her plate and it from a bland part. I had the crunchy pork chop. I love breaded and fried pork, but sometimes it's cooked too much and it sucks out the moisture. Did not have that problem here; crunchy yet soft inside. Without the dipping sauce it's good, but not super flavorful. That sauce is amazing though and really completes the dish. Side greens were seasoned well and were a welcome addition. Overall, I would come here again. The food doesn't blow you away and make you think of it years later, but it is good! They also don't fall into the trap of being too salty/overseasoned, like a lot of fine restaurants do. Of all the fine restaurants I've been to, half of them leave me disappointed and I don't come back. This is one of the good ones. I'm hoping I do find one dish on their menu that makes me remember it often.

Yelp
Service is always great, love the patio seating (lunch or dinner), food is exceptional. Reservations a must during prime hours.

Yelp
I want to start by saying...you found it. If you're looking for somewhere to go on a date, celebrate any occasion or just have a nice meal, this is the place. This is a cute little place with a nice vibe and even better food. Everything we put in our mouths was nothing short of delicious. The service was absolutely amazing and just the overall experience here was the best. I'm so glad we came across it and we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I have gone to Caprice Couple times was my last review. One can always expect excellent food. The service is great. The restaurant is small but nicely decorated. I love the bread that they bring you. It's very crusty and soft in the middle. I have never had a bad dish there.

Yelp
Great ambiance..... service was exceptional and the food was extraordinary... 1st time here and definitely coming back

Yelp
We haven't been to this restaurant in a while since our last few experiences have not been that great. We heard that it was better from a friend so we decided to try it again for a date night this past Saturday. Our reservation was for 7:15 on the patio. When we arrived to the restaurant we were seated very quickly and we were greeted by our server. We were in no hurry and expressed this to the server when we first spoke to her. We started our meal with two appetizers, an Old Fashioned cocktail and a bottle of wine. The Old Fashioned needs to be recreated, very little flavor profile, just a lot of hard alcohol taste. For the appetizers we had the Salmon Carpaccio which was excellent, I could have the ponzu sauce as a drink just by itself!! We also shared the pork belly which was also excellent! Probably one of the best pork belly dishes we have ever had in a restaurant. Sadly, our server informed us that the pork belly was only being served that night as a special item and that the restaurant was no longer going to be serving the dish due to the time it takes to prepare the dish. We then moved on to the butter lettuce salad with chèvre and bacon, the presentation was great and it was delicious as well. For dinner we shared the filet mignon and added the cauliflower gratin as the side. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare but seriously lacked any flavor. When one pays $52.00 for a steak I would expect that it would be one of the best steaks that I have ever had unfortunately this was probably one of the worst steaks that I have ever had and would tell everyone who is thinking about dinning here to avoid it by all means. The cauliflower gratin was also not great due to the overuse of sage in this dish. The server had also informed us around 8:20 that the kitchen was taking its last orders since the restaurant closes at 9:00 Saturday. No restaurant that wants to be successful should be closing its kitchen at 9:00, very ridiculous for downtown Redlands. Also, took a very long time to get our dinner after we were being rushed to order the main dish. Last but not least do not order coffee from here until they get their new machine figured out. It was so bad that the server (not our original server) took it off our bill.

Yelp
Excellent food every time! Never had a meal here that was not 5 stars. Mostly organic ingredients and no bad seed oils - they fry in tallow and sooo delicious
google avatar

Georgie M.

Yelp
After asking if they accepted dogs, we were seated outside with our Annie. We ordering our food... and then another server came by and asked for Annie's seat. When I pointed out there another free chair nearby, we were told they only accept Service Dogs. Huh, then why did you seat us and say you did?

Noreen S.

Yelp
Unreal food. Perfection! The spicy angel hair pasta was the best. There were some very unique items.
google avatar

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
My favorite State Street lunchtime location for delighting cocktails and scrumptious opportunities. Service is informed while also warm & welcoming. I love the indoor and outdoor spaces. The restroom is a bit of a walk into a hidden hallway; however, the walls are lined with impressive awards along the way.
google avatar

Mona S.

Yelp
This is a little wine bar in downtown Redlands with a cute outdoor patio area that faces the main street, so it's good for people watching. I wouldn't suggest bringing children here, but for adults, the men is Decent. I haven't tried very much on it yet, but the food was good though a little pricey for what we got. The cocktails were just OK, so I would stick to wine since it is a wine bar.
google avatar

Nick M.

Yelp
Best and most consistent Kitchen in Redlands. Never had a bad meal here with amazing fresh dishes, flavors and sublime execution. Top tier Service and drinks make this a location I bring others to for special events.

Joe R.

Yelp
Lame. "You need a reservation." 1pm on a Saturday....empty tables...its red lands.... wtf?!

Pokemon L.

Yelp
Highly polite waiters and waitresses. The exceptional customer service was up to par with what all of Redlands local speak up. Food delicious! Ambiance just beautiful and really appropriate for special occasions. We are locals and support our community businesses. Revisiting for sure. Happy Anniversary to us. Thank you Caprice.
google avatar

Yelp
We came for a special occasion a birthday because this is a bit of a splurge not good at all borderline inedible every single dish that we ordered not to mention the waiter was snarky
google avatar

Sasha M.

Yelp
Second time here and still disappointed. We sat at the bar. We ordered the crab cakes. So mushy like many of the other reviews. For the people who enjoy this dish...why? I ordered the wagyu burger medium well.the burger came out with a medium rare toothpick. I thought it wouldn't be too bad so I started eating it. The edges were medium but when I got to the medium it was rare and I couldn't continue. We let the waitress know that it was not cooked to our request. She goes to the ticket and confirms it says medium rare which is not what I said. She the. Says,"I wrote medium rare because that is what I heard, we can fix it." My coworker even said,"I heard you say medium well." This was the first time I ever experienced fixing a meal by taking the burger and giving me back the fries. Then I was given back the burger after 10-15 mins and told it had just come out of the oven. The burger was recooked and not remade. My burger along with the lettuce, was baked. For a place that prides itself on fine dining, this was not up to par. I took my oven burger home and started to eat it. The inside was still rare. It needed to be cooked on a grill and not heated up in its entirety by oven in its foil. I do not recommend this place. Ambiance is old and the menu we were given was wrinkled and peeling from being wet and then dried.

Liv P.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. Love coming here to see Dom, Marielle and Leslie. :) They all give excellent service.
google avatar

Yetzwvelyth M.

Yelp
The quality was good appetizer I really liked just needed a touch of salt but only 2 pieces for 18$ if you go with a group you'd need a few the crab cakes were mushy and risotto was good would be better with candied walnuts instead we paid almost 90$ for this i think it's pretty over priced for lunch we'll be back for dinner to give it another try

Leslie A.

Yelp
This Is a cute restaurant in downtown Redlands. I like the service, and location in relation to the fun stuff and happenings in Redlands. I only wish it was bigger but they do the best they can with the space they have. I had the pork chop and I was so in love with it! You have to try it!
google avatar

Meta N.

Yelp
I frequent many of the other eateries in Downtown Redlands but for some reason have passed this place by for several years. I decided to finally try it and I feel like I've been missing out this whole time! I'm giving this establishment 4 stars instead of 5 because the service was slow and our waitress could have checked on us more frequently so we weren't waiting for drinks or refills and having to pause our meal to wait for more drinks, and also because the cocktails were rather mediocre. That said, the food was fantastic! I began with the salmon carpaccio, which was honestly amazing. So flavourful and balanced and fresh! Than I ordered the grilled shrimp parpadelle pasta which was equally amazing. Delicious sauce, well cooked noodles, well seasoned shrimp. All around and awesome dish. I will definitely be ordering it again. My partner ordered the salmon pesto pasta which was pretty good but not nearly as tasty as the parpadelle. We finished with an almond tart with ice cream on top. The almond tart itself was delicious but honestly the ice cream detracted from it. I definitely plan to come back for the food food, but I would likely skip drinks and go to a place with a better bar.
google avatar

Louisa L.

Yelp
I had really high hopes for Caprice Cafe because a friend had recommended it to me, but I left pretty disappointed by the food. I ordered the spicy angel hair, but it was nowhere close to spicy let alone seasoned. The chicken was dry and over cooked, and somehow the whole dish ended up tasting dry and old despite it being covered in the jalapeño-cilantro jus. I couldn't finish my dish and ended up trying my friend's wagyu burger, but that too was overcooked and flavorless as well. The restaurant itself is stunning and filled with real (?) plants. The dim lighting and quiet music in the background really gave the place an intimate vibe. I think it would be a great place for a date or small group gathering in terms of the ambience (but only if you're ok with mediocre food)
google avatar

Yelp
1Star - I'm not sure if they were short staffed on a Monday night. We arrived and waited almost 10 minutes before anyone approached us. My husband ordered a $14 glass of Pinot Grigio, (house) and got a four ounce pour, if that. My friend ordered a $16 lemon drop. I'm not kidding, the martini glass was a thimble size Really! They were out of everything, no bread for the table, no shrimp, no specials. I ordered a $36 salmon and it came on a bed of what I believe was canned corn. My husband's Publano Relleno was awful, very bitter tasting. My friend ordered what was described on the menu, the kurabota pork chop and it tasted and looked like a German Schnitzel. They advertise as an American/French restaurant and they're all over the place. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. Had high hopes. Food:

Yelp
This is a perfect example of some place trying to be unique and maybe fancy, but completely failing on every possible level. I struggle to find a single positive to say about this place after my experience tonight. Of the 6 different dishes I tried they were all pretty much train wrecks. Crab cakes....soggy mush that completely fell apart. Pork belly.......poorly rendered leaving too much fat and strangely bland. Bone marrow......no acid and just a greasy mess. Pappardelle pasta was bland, shrimp were overcooked to the point of becoming had rubber bullets. Prosciutto wrapped chicken was pretty boring to say the least and the side dish of corn fregola was absolutely flavorless and the corn was clearly previously frozen. By FAR the most revolting thing was the flat iron steak which no joke all 4 of us at the table said tasted like movie theater popcorn "butter". No joke that was seriously what we all tasted. I am still nauseated and feeling like my gut is swimming in some butter flavored oil. Asking for anything took a ridiculous amount of time. Half the time it seemed our server had forgotten us and had some other guy checking on us. Even after asking for things it took 7-8 visits back and forth with other tables before he would bring what we asked for. Salt, bread, even water. After getting food we were not asked how anything was. His assistant was the only one who stopped by once or twice. Only when it was time to pick up the signed receipts did he rush over. Now on to the tab...... this was an an absolute joke. $260 for a meal for 4 and probably 75% went back because it was inedible. No attempts to resolve anything. In fact it was more ignore the problems and ask nothing. $5 for a Coke and $5 for every refill? Had I known that I would have told em where they could stick that can. Oh and we spit the bill and these geniuses somehow ended up charging all the wrong cards. I cannot say enough how completely disappointing an experience this was tonight. Everything was so bad I would have even been mad even if someone had come over (they clearly didn't) and offered to knock 50% off the bill. Absolutely nothing, other than the free bread now that I think about it, was even really edible. RUN AWAY!!! Run far away!!!

Yelp
The Tuesday staff is excellent Hannah, Noah , Zoe, Leslie, and Kiki always make it a great evening. Excellent Flatiron Steak and wonderful selection of Libations keep me coming back each week.

Yelp
Spent my birthday here. Played it safe with the steak and frites. Wasn't the biggest fan. Service was good. Ambiance on the inside looked nice. Food wasn't anything to be impressed about. I went home disappointed because the butter gave the steak an odd taste. Only think I enjoyed were the fries. Don't think I'd come back honestly. Kinda overpriced.

Yelp
We last minute changed dinner plans and decided to come here - despite being a Monday evening this place was fully packed. I recommend calling ahead to make a reservation. We got a seat at the bar though which was good enough. They start you off with bread which seemed freshly baked. It's drizzled with olive oil and tastes fluffy inside. We ordered the wagyu burger and the pappardelle. The burger was very delicious! The chef recommends medium or medium rare so I got the latter. It's a very large burger with mushrooms, onions, bacon, and avocado (although that costs extra) and it works very well together. I was impressed by the flavor. The pappardelle was okay. The pasta itself was good texture. I wasn't crazy about the sauce - the only time lemon flavor was there was on the shrimp and it wasn't clear to me where the thyme flavor was. A few pieces is the shrimp were also slightly overcooked. Unfortunately for dessert they ran out of the cinnamon apple filo pastry. We saw a different table order that and it looked large and tasty. I'll have to come back and try it some other time. They also do a creme brulee which you can see them blowtorch near the bar. This place has a great ambiance and interior decoration. Paired with their tasty food, it's a great place for a date night or a celebratory dinner.

Yelp
Again. I was fortunate to eat lunch at Caprice Cafe and I had to have the Angel baby squid pasta. The delicious dish full of exquisite ingredients is so dreamy! From the tender squids to the various nuts and then Feta cheese this dish is out of the norm. I could have tried the Risotto or the hamburger, but I have fallen in love with the Angel Please try it yourself and compare with other restaurants- hmmm, not the same ingredients.

Yelp
Went wondering around Redlands and stopped in to Caprice for dinner. Seats weren't available, so we sat at the bar. Seating at the bar is not the most comfortable. The bartenders were super nice, but it did take awhile to just order drinks, and then again for food. Ordered the filet mignon, some shrimp, and margaritas. Food was very good, but the shrimp were over cooked. We had a very nice evening and will definitely be back.

Yelp
Two stars because even though the ambiance was okay, the drink (Moscow mule) was not good, and the pastas were bland with watery sauce. Service however was good.

Yelp
The description of this restaurant is very accurate. It's a very quaint restaurant with a great selection of food and cozy patio. We would definitely return.

Yelp
I've lived in Redlands for a few years now and have walked by the cafe multiple times and decided to try it today. Upon arrival we were asked if we had reservations (which we did not) but as I looked around the restaurant was nearly empty. We were seated a few moments later and ordered drinks and our meal. Once we were served no one came to check on us, ask us if we wanted another drink or anything else. While we were sitting there two if the servers were up front and one started chastising an employee (male w/black hair) because apparently someone sat down and didn't tell the server but he stated that he didn't even see them. It was degrading it itself but then we overheard one of them saying that customers will claim they've been waiting for 30 minutes when in reality it's only been 5" Mind you, having been a server before I understand the pressures of being a server but as mentioned the restaurant was practically empty. Also it's very poor etiquette to talk about customers in front of customers!! I definitely will not be back which I'm sure no one cares but I'm also letting everyone who asks for recommendations to not stop there. I've gotten better customer service at AM/PM. Not worth the price of the food to have crappy service. I gave this place one star because I like the tree inside.
