I had been reading good things about this "sandwich shop" and I wanted to give it a try. I guess I have lived a very "sheltered" life this past year and I was not aware of these places that are not really retail, but provide freshly made food to the public and to delivery services. I was in the area and drove over expecting a typical Sandwich shop. I found a very nondescript building with one promotional poster for Capriotti's in a window. I walked in the building entrance and immediately knew I was lost! I saw a few digital tablets mounted to a wall to "check on your order". I very naively didn't order "on-line", because I thought I could go to the "counter", review the menu and order a couple of sandwiches. There was a very nice woman at the lobby counter who explained things to me. She told me there was a wide variety of restaurants with kitchens in this building. Each kitchen was individually owned and staffed. She explained to me that everything is ordered on-line and then I would get a text confirmation when the order was ready. Seems easy enough, although different. I should also say, I never use the food delivery services, because when I did I didn't like the results (and delivery fees).
So, I sat in the small waiting area and ordered two sandwiches to share with friends I was meeting up with. I ordered a medium size 10" Classic Cheese steak, which was very good with a soft roll and very flavorful. Also, I ordered the famous "Bobbie"-large 18" (roasted turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce). What I don't understand is the error that was made on the Bobbie sandwich. It's just 4 ingredients for the filling. I ordered it on line without mayonnaise. I have one friend that is absolutely NOT a fan of mayo. I can almost accept this error on a phone call or in person, but when it's in writing--how can they get that wrong? Even the receipt states "no Mayo"! We all enjoyed the Cheese steak. The Bobbie was good, but that one error, completely ruined the sandwich for one friend. There's just no excuse when you make an online order for the kitchen to NOT get it 100% correct. Not too excited about trying Capriotti's again, but if I do, I guarantee I will double check the sandwich before I leave!
