Capriotti's Sandwich Shop

As someone who works in the service industry, I place a strong emphasis on customer service. What started as an opportunity for growth ended up being a five-star experience! Last week, I finally tried the Impossible Cheesesteak from the Concord Pike location, and it was amazing! I craved another one yesterday, so I ordered an Impossible Cheesesteak from the Union Street location. However, it was slightly overcooked. Since the Impossible meat doesn't need to be cooked for too long, I thought that was an easy fix. Today, I called back to provide that feedback and to give it another try. Not only was the young lady who answered the phone very apologetic and understanding, but she also said, "I never want you to have a bad experience, and I will comp that for you." I was ready to pay for it again because I didn’t call just to get a free meal; I simply wanted it to be right since that location is closest to my work. Today, I can definitely say they got it right! I know for sure I will be returning to this location for my Impossible Cheesesteak. Everyone was super friendly and responsive.

Great sandwich shop for take away. I had the Bobby with turkey, stuffing and cranberry. Good bread with a nice chew. Tender turkey. Good flavor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. No where to sit and it is an original shop so best to order delivery or carry out.

Listen I love the customer service it’s awesome, but unfortunately like 3 times this year have we found hair in our food. I strongly believe anyone working in food should wear a hair net for this reason. We had a mix up with our subs yesterday and we got two free ones on the house. My husband went to eat his free sub (the one that they sent that wasn’t our order) and he found black straight hair in his food. Again I understand stuff happens but this has been happening more than once and it just makes me nauseous from wanting to eat from here.

Visited 11/8/25. Came for the Bobbie sandwich, which is basically a Thanksgiving meal on a sub roll. No regrets. #WhichWich

ATTENTION Capriottis lovers: When you order, make sure you get extra meat or double meat. The pics you see here is of the Vegetarian Turkey, and exactly how the sub looked when I opened the package. This is how Capriottis subs used to come as is, but these days they are very skimpy on the meat. I might’ve over did it with the double meat option (the extra meat might’ve been good enough) lol, but at least I get that classic Capriottis taste! Yum!

The food here was pretty good. Especially the bobby which they are known for. It's good both cold and hot but I prefer the hot bobby and if you don't like it hot you can just wait a while then it becomes the cold bobby. If you order ahead which you can do there are discounts and you can get it right as you walk up to the counter.

Capriotti's is unlike any other hoagie shop I've ever been to. Super high quality sandwiches. They are expensive but very high quality also. Wawa is everywhere if you want cheap.

If I could give zero stars I would. I placed an online order and upon arriving I walked into the union street location which there were no customers. There were two workers behind the counter in which neither greeted or acknowledged that I was there. Another customer walked in behind me and immediately the male worker retrieved the customers food. I said I’ve been standing here and nobody has said a word to me. I was told that the person had previously been in the store and forgot their money which is fine but has nothing to do with me being ignored. If someone had at the very least asked me to give them a moment it wouldn’t have been an issue. The male worker let’s call me D begins to cuss and talk about what he doesn’t have time for and taking his break. I politely asked for my paid order to be cancelled and left after getting everyone’s name. The integrity of a lot of business is going to hell in a basket partly due to horrible customer service. I will NEVER return to that particular location and plan to reach out to corporate bc at my age it’s about the principle. I will not tolerate poor customer service and disrespect. The food isn’t anything special to tolerate that nonsense. Maybe management should consider hiring some more mature workers who take pride in not only themselves but their work and service that they provide.

I've been going here since I was a kid (first time at this location), I have never been more sadden not only by the sandwich but the customer service. The order was not only wrong but there was no meat on the one half of the sandwich and the other half barely any. They also forgot condiments on both sandwiches. 100% disrespectful and not considerate of a customer. I will not only never support cap again but I hope to future customers this does not happen. Especially do not go here on game days. Not enough staff and that's why they're all grumpy. If I could rate it zero I would, but it doesn't let me.

The best turkey sub on the planet. The best fresh turkey sub on the planet. The best at giving variations of the turkey and roast beef sub. Their roll is fresh and perfectly complements their line of sandwiches. This place has never disappointed me. Love it!

The first attempt at ordering a Bobbie was through DoorDash. The Bobbie was missing so I contacted the store on Union St. They could not re-deliver so added me to their "comp list" for $13.29 credit. Today, a week later, I called to order the Bobbie for pickup. After going back and forth with the employee, who stated my name was NOT on their comp list, they reluctantly agreed to honor the comp. When I picked the sandwich up I supplied the info from the original mistake. My 85 year old neighbor was so excited to finally get her Bobbie until this I can understand a turkey bone being missed here and there but this is the 2nd time finding one and this one is pretty big in my opinion. Do better CAPRIOTTI'S, she could have died!

Fanatically delicious is absolutely on point. Whilst in Delaware, I made a mission to try what I heard several times was the "Greatest Sandwich in America." Even though it was 20 minutes from my stay, I'm so glad I made the trek to Capricotti's because this sandwich SLAPS. The Bobbie is a Thanksgiving sandwich. I found the cranberry sauce to be significantly less sweet compared to other similar creations. This was perfect as it didn't overtake the other flavors. The turkey was delicious. It didn't have that weird, off taste that deli turkey sometimes has (IYKYK). The stuffing was wonderfully seasoned and delivered so much flavor. All these wonderful components combined deliver what I only can describe as heaven to my tastebuds. I ordered a medium (10 inches) and ate the entire thing in one sitting. The only thing that saddens me is I live 3000 miles away, so the likelihood of me experiencing this again is slim. I also hope I have the opportunity to try their other sandwiches because if this one was so amazing, I bet the others are equally as great. If you're a tourist, I cannot stress this enough: GO HERE. And get this sandwich. And others while you're at it.

This is the perfect example of what I would call a "good" hoagie, although they call it a sub. It checked all of the boxes. Good roll, fresh ingredients and good flavor. It just didn't knock anything out of the park. Not much more to say about it. It was good.

The Bobbie was delicious great service, standard style sub shop with philly cheese steaks, italians, wagyu, turkey, pastrami.

I used to get their hoagies all the time back in the day. Don't bother now. The Italian hoagie is now. lettuce sandwich. Three thin slices of meat. Where's the beef.

Very frustrated because the sandwiches are delicious. BUT. My friend and I both got random homemade turkey sandwiches and BOTH of us found cartilage and BONE in our turkey (see pic). The last time I chomped down on a bone I broke a molar which then was extracted and an implant placed - $5000 out of pocket expense. Please I'm begging you find a way to separate the meat more carefully.

Our sandwiches were all wrong! Do not recommend especially since we had to wait QUITE SOME TIME for those darn sandwiches!!

I highly recommend this shop! The workers are helpful, friendly, respectful, and patient with customers. They always work hard and provide outstanding quality to the food. I receive loads of great service light years away from the Silverside branch. As a note to everyone, DO NOT go to the Silverside branch whatsoever! They are snotty and rude to their customers and don't have the proper sanitation methods at that location. This store is a staple of our city and I highly recommend the Impossible Cheesesteaks, which tastes identical to their traditional cheesesteak. Also, I recommend their Impossible Turkey hoagies, which taste just like honey turkey. Again, if you all want Capriotti's, then I highly recommend this store or any other one except for the on on Silverside Road.

The food was great but the service ice was off the chain!!!! They sold out of rolls but they worked it out so I could enjoy my sub of choice.

Capriotti's is a sandwich shop from Wilmington Delaware that now has franchises across the United States. The original one still operates out of a row home on the edge of Wilmington's Little Italy. Since I was in Wilmington recently, this is the Capriotti's I hit up. Capriotti's has won several awards for their sandwiches (or so it says on a sign) - especially for the Bobbie sandwich which has been described as Thanksgiving dinner inside an Italian roll. The picture of The Bobbie on the internet as well as on the wall of this eatery looks delicious and since I have very rarely ever had a Thanksgiving dinner (I'm usually back home in Vienna), I decided to order one and take it with me to eat later. But sadly have I rarely been so disappointed with a sandwich. First of all, it looked nothing like the photo in the sandwich shop which shows layers of chunks of turkey, a layer of stuffing, and a layer of cranberry sauce. What I had looked like ground-up turkey (or being kind maybe you could call it pulled turkey) with a little bit of stuffing mixed in and a couple of dots of cranberry sauce. If you don't believe me - look at my photo of the Bobbie sandwich and then check out their photo on the website. Now comes the real problem - I didn't like it. The roll was thick and not as springy and fresh as I like it and it totally dominated the sandwich. There is no way the sandwich which I was served could have gotten an award. C'mon guys look at the photo of the Bobbie you have posted and try to make the sandwich with chunks of turkey and more stuffing & cranberries. p.s. I'm sure some of the other subs were much better ... but you get only get one chance to make a good first impression!

Wow for once there is a food place that deserves my 5 stars in DE! If you are looking for something actually good to eat in DE this is the place. It is unique and it is something you cannot get anywhere else. This place is know for the Bobbie sandwich which is basically Thanksgiving in a sandwich. I am not a big sandwich fan myself but I absolutely love the Bobbie sandwich here. Its basically submarine (or "hoagie" for all you East coast people) with shredded perfectly seasoned not dry turkey (I find most turkey meat to be dry but this place makes it perfect), stuffing, cranberry, and a special gravy sauce. The portions are HUGE and the price is VERY CHEAP for what you are getting. One thing to note is that this is not a sit-in type of a place and you can only order to-go. The store isn't that clean, nor neat, and the location is kind of "ghetto" so come here not alone or not at night. But since the sandwiches are so good, I think it's worth it. I HATE sandwiches and I HATE turkey but I love the Bobbie sandwiches here and if you can make me love turkey and sandwiches you deserve my 5 starts. Overall I highly recommend this place for anyone who is passing through DE.

I had never been here before and decided to try it after high praise from my coworkers. I was definitely not dissatisfied I have the vegetarian turkey sandwich and it was delicious! Will definitely be ordering from them again.

The Bobby sandwich is truly to die for and perfect for any season.

PICK UP THE PHONE!!!!!!! Not sure what is going on here with the Union St location but it is the worst Capriotti's in Delaware, sad that this is the original. This is the third and last time I will ever try and order a sandwich from them because THEY DONT ANSWER THE PHONE!!!! Please note that I started calling this store at 11:15 AM REPEATEDLY until 11:45 pm. If your excuse if that you're too busy to answer the phone then why is it possible for the Silverside location able to answer the phone everytime you haven't?

This place is BUSY. Too busy. Staff is less than amicable. You will wait a very long time for your order and have to wait outside because the building is small. The sandwiches are also very dry in my opinion.

OVERPRICED! Not a good value, prices went up and sandwiches got smaller! Visit the competitors.

The sandwiches here are great, the help is not. I called to put in a order and was asked if I could hold. Sure I said figuring they were busy and would be with me quickly. I could hear their conversation while on hold and seemed like someone kept asking customers about a tip. Any way I was on hold for over 17 minutes before I decided to hang up and order from Casapulla's. WTF capriottis?

Had to try the famous Bobbie. Tasty at first due to the savory stuffing and cranberry but disappointed that my Turkey was all shredded dark meat.

Had a small sub tonight and small was right! The new subs are a far cry from the old ones. This one was kid sized, not enough for a hungry adult!! They also left the lettuce, tomatoes and peppers off the other sub. Poor service, poor food. I won't be going back!!

Unbelievable! I have been getting subs from here for 20+ years and it's always been good until recently. They have really high prices, which I was ok paying because you got a great sub with lots of meat. The most recent order had less than half of the turkey on my sub that they had for years and my wife's Capastrami also had half of the meat. I won't be going back

Every time I order from Capriotti's on Union street my food is fixed just like I asked it to be fixed I order three cheese steak and one medium cheese sub all the food was delicious and well put together Thanks The McManus Family

I had the same problem with little meat in the sub and Bobbie. Never had that problem at Silverside Road shop! I won't be running back to Union Street shop because this is the third time I received such disappointing subs.

Haven't gone to Capriotti in a long time. My favorite sub shop changed owners and the quality went down. Tried Capriotti again for an Italian sub and was disappointed. For the price the sub needed more meat. Tasted like a salad sub. Couldn't even taste provolone cheese. No Italian ham. Over seasoned. I'll keep looking until I find a sub shop that does it right.

I had such a great sandwich here!! I forget sometimes how amazing the Bobbie is!! So glad I stopped in and I will be again sometime soon!

Takes a lot for me to give a bad review on Yelp but you are really skimping on the meat. Sadly, it might be time for me to take me business elsewhere.

The best thing Delaware has ever produced. EVER! Capriotti's invented "The Bobbie" - a delectable sandwich made with fresh turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and mayonnaise. I have never tasted anything more wonderful in my life. No joke. They use fresh roasted turkey and roast beef, not processed deli meat. Okay, I love the bobbies at Capriottis. Hands down the best in the state, the best on the east coast. Fresh turkey from the whole bird (not that crappy lunch meat stuff) good rolls, good portions. Really hits the spot. But what compelled me to write this review is the fact that their phone number is nowhere to be found on the Yelp page! If it is on the site, it certainly isn't prominent because I couldn't find it. The majority of folks in Wilmington still order their subs and steaks and...bobbies by phone, so please post the bleeping number. I had to leave my normally reliable, helpful, downright beloved Yelp app & do a google search for the phone number. I guess Capriottis has more business than it can handle & doesn't want to encourage people to call...or maybe they only want customers who go the extra mile. It's sure is an odd and quirky business model, but hey, what do I know

Not great, not bad, just meh. For my friends' wedding, we had a sandwich tray from Capriotti's. My friend was raving about some sandwich that had stuffing and turkey, but sadly, this tray did not have any. There were a variety of sandwiches- tuna fish, turkey, ham, etc... The tuna was not good in my opinion, but everything else seemed to be pretty decent. I'm guessing this place might be different if I were able to order my own sandwich, but based on my exp, it was just ok. Chuck Norris rating- knee slap

When you move from Delaware, you will miss the Bobbie. And other sandwiches that involve turkey and cranberry will try to soothe the cravings, but they will fail, horribly. So please, if you live within driving distance of a Capriotti's, call ahead and order a Bobbie for pick-up. It's better than deli-meat turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and mayo... you honestly can't get better than that!

I LOVE a good Capriotti's sandwich! With my family being from Delaware and me living out of state this is my first and last stop when I visit. I love a good classic Philly but my favorite is a Turkey sandwich the turkey is fresh everyday and cooked to perfect; no matter how many times I try to replicate it at home I just can't get it right and I think its all in the bread! I love coming here to the original store and getting greeted so friendly like I'm part of the family.

Ordered from there twice in a row to the hospital while working and every time the red pepper sauce was not includes when ordered (amongst other things). That's the best part of the sandwich! Will not be ordering anymore

i am most excited about capriotti's!!!!!!!!!!!!! when i go to visit wilmington delaware i go to union street, the original store. i love the best turkey sub and their tuna sub and their philly cheese sub and meatball sub. i love their subs so much i hide eating them from my friends there and i bring the sub back to my hotel and devour it in the privacy of my own room. i first go to a supermarket and buy a tiny jar of mayo, a small jar of pickles and "utz" brand potato chips. (the reason i hide eating them from my friends is because usually i have just finished eating one with them and i don't think they would understand how much i love capriotti's subs, in that i then leave their house and go back to capriotti's and order another sub and bring it back to my hotel room. i get the small sub, but that is quite large and i can get two meals out of it. ) no kidding at all when i shout: "i just love, love, love capriotti 's subs." there are no other sub sandwiches on this planet that beats that fresh, classic sub sandwich taste. they can put spicy hot peppers or sweet peppers on your sub too. the best. i love capriotti 's. i wish i could write in larger shouty lettering.

I've had an adequate cheesesteak here before but it was at night when I was a a desperate former Philadelphian visiting for too short a time to hit my favorite spot. So, under those circumstances, it satisfied. Today, the flies were buzzing, the lady cooking was coughing and hacking over my meat and, in daylight, the whole place looked like it needed a serious scrub. That said, the bread was fresh and what it should be but the overall sandwich was just passable. But I don't think I'd come back...unless desperate.

Great Italian subs too, but if you're going to this place and you aren't regularly getting 'The Bobbie', the homemade turkey, or the homemade roast beef sub, you are DEFINITELY missing out. Wilmington has a couple of amazing sub places that all make a great Italian sub, but nobody makes the above quite like Capriotti's. The Union Street store is definitely the best one in my opinion. Whether that's real or perceived, I've always felt like the subs at this location were made better. Hard working crew inside too. Not much for scenery, but the goal of coming to this place is to grab a delicious sandwich and then drive recklessly back to your house so you can eat it (disclaimer: don't actually drive recklessly over a sandwich, you silly Yelp reader).

We always get lunch from this place for large group lunches at work. I never heard of the bobbie sandwich until this place came up on conversation. It's like a turkey dinner in a sub sandwich: Stuffing, cranberry juice, and of course -- turkey. It's hearty and tastes great. They have a lot of other sandwich varieties but I always stick with the bobbie. The downside about this place is that they don't deliver so the limiting factor is, when's my food gonna arrive? (Read: When can an employee be spared to pick up our sandwiches?)

The franchise has completely went to sh$#. Almosr $12 for a "cheesesteak" that had barely any steak on it

Got to experience the legendary "The Bobbie" which includes homemade turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and mayo and have to say I was very satisfied. If you're in DE consider this the "Pat's" of the "Slower Lower" region.

This is hands down the WORST capriottis location in Delaware! You would think because it's the original location it would be the best but far from it. They take no care in the appearance of the place and they hire anyone who knows someone. Customer service is terrible and rude. I've giving this place more than enough chances! Take your business elsewhere if you're in the area!

Subs have downsized and are very small now and they also skimp on meat and toppings. I was very disappointed. This isn't the Capriotti's I grew up with. New ownership is terrible. Might as well go to subway.

I never expected it to be a hole in the wall. And rightfully so, with they way my friends talked about it, I expected to walk in and be seated by waiter wearing a tie (clearly no one told me it was a sandwich shop, and I have no idea why I didn't yelp it). We walked in to a counter filled with sandwich orders and plenty of busy body buzzing about, making sandwiches. It was a long counter too, behind it were the grilles. There were 2 soda refrigerators and a potato chip stand. Sitting in front of the chip stand there sat a lone patio table with three chairs that would eventually seat me and my friends. A woman greeted us from behind the counter, "How ya doin'? You ready to order?" She yelled in her heavily clad east coast accent. I was amused. My friends ordered their sandwiches: one turkey, one cheese steak. I asked the waitress to navigate me through the favorites on the menu. She told me all were good, but the most popular as the Bobbie (apparently the place is famous for them). I ordered without a second thought in a 9in sub. I grabbed a bag of chips and a bottle of water. Piled high with turkey meat, stuffing, cranberry sauce and mayo. I WAS BLOWN AWAY. FAR FAR AWAY. while it wasn't warm, the chilled taste made me nostalgic for my grandfathers turkey and dressing during thanks giving. Simple pleasure. The greatness of this sandwich made me look to see if any delis were open in DC. After finding one in DuPont circle, I vowed to be back for a happy hour or meet up with friends on a random Tuesday. Good job Capriotti!

It is very hard to beat their Bobbie which basicly Thanksgiving on a roll (complete with roasted turkey, stuffing, mayo, and cranberry sauce.) The original menu options and their amazing bread is what sets them apart from the other shops in town.

This place makes subway look like garbage. Its a small sub shop located in the city of wilmington. They have a variety of subs included vegetarian options. The subs are super tasty and will not leave you hungry.

You know you're going to get a great sandwich, so I thought I'd shine a light on how NICE everyone is in that store. They are so friendly and pleasant...it just seems like everyone in there is enjoying making people happy with some big ass sandwiches. Nuff said

The Bobbie is probably the 2nd best sandwich in this country, finishing close behind the classic Italian roast pork. Union street is up and coming, so don't be off put by the neighborhood if you're from out of town.
