Caprizza Ristorante - Review - Mission - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Caprizza Ristorante is an Italian restaurant in the Mission serving pizzas, pastas like linguine alla vongole or lobster ravioli, and entrees including chicken parm, baked pork tenderloin, and steak. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Julia Chen

Google
A nice alternative to the Barrio burrito and tacos, a fine Italian restaurant finally opened. Great food and affordable prices. We will go back

Google
Very courteous service and flavorful dishes. I love Chicken Marsala and they make a super delicious one. Panna cotta was quite nice too. The $35 prix fixe menu from 3pm to 5pm is a terrific deal. I’d highly recommend.

The staff here are so fabulous and friendly. I've been to this restaurant many times since they opened. The tiramisu is heavenly. Tonight my dad had the salmon and my mom ate a lobster ravioli in a saffron cream sauce. They absolutely loved it and they are foodies. I ate chicken marsala. The sauce was amazing. I can't recommend this place enough. Please go try it!

Google
I am not Italian but we were very impressed by this new and unassuming Italian restaurant. We came for dinner and had the clam linguine, the cioppino, and the squid ink risotto appetizer. All very freshly executed and at a reasonable price. Service was excellent and the place is very well kept. We will certainly be back to try all the Italian basics.

Alex went out of his way to make this first experience at Caprizza a memorable one. He answered our questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. He made recommendations that we enjoyed. We started with the bruschetta, which was prepared in a unique way that we had never seen before, and was delicious. I had the risotto with prawns, and my wife had the ravioli. I would describe these by saying that the plates were returned to the kitchen empty. We finished with dessert. Torn between the many options, Alex recommended the affogato and creme brule, even "comping" one of them. Both were a wonderful close to an exceptional dining experience!

Visited 2 times and had the pepperoni pizza. It was good but nothing special. I would rather try something else on my next visit. I also tried a burger, it was good and I bumped up my rating

Yelp
This place was delicious. We ordered the spaghetti, papperdelle con sugo, Caesar salad and the garlic bread and every item was good to great. The standout items were the papperdelle and the garlic bread, which were truly delicious, but we were happy with each item. The Caeser salad tasted good, but there was a bit too much dressing for our taste. This is feedback based on takeout food l, so I imagine it tastes even better in person. I was a bit bummed to see the place a bit empty when I picked up the food, but I hope this review helps since we'll definitely order again!

Yelp
Our party arrived here on a Monday evening with reservations. We probably didn't need one as the place was not very busy. It is located off of Portreo Ave near SF General Hospital, The surrounding area is "sketchy" with people on the sidewalk hidden in the shadows. Parking is not that easy so you have to park relatively far away. The service here is excellent and the waiter was very attentive. The seats were not comfortable, but luckily we brought seat cushions. We started off with an appetizer of Frittura Mistai ($19) which consisted of Deep fried Calamari, Prawns, Zucchini with Marinara and Tartar Sauce. It was quite good. They also brought out some french bread with a sauce of capers which they quickly replenished when our famished group finished the first round. Three pasta dishes were ordered - linguine with fresh clams ($24), Pappardelle with Lamb Ragu, with Mushrooms and Tomato Sauce ($24), Fettuccine with Pesto Sauce, Chicken and Sun-Dried Tomatoes ($22) , cesare salad ($10), and finally a Pan-Seared Sole Dore with Spinach, Mashed Potato and Lemon, Butter, Capers Sauce ($25). The food was excellent. When it was time for the bill, the waiter announced a 3% charge for using a credit card. I was very surprised as it was not noted on the menu, plus how many people bring $200 cash when dining out especially in that area of town. Even though our experience was good, there are some downsides as noted above. We may come again probably during daylight hours as the neighborhood is a little scary. I gave them a 4+ rating as I never give 5 ratings on restaurants that have hidden charges.

Yelp
Welcome Caprizza! I love this location and was excited to see a new restaurant moving into this space. The restaurant is spacious and has a nice little patio, which is so chill on nice days. I chose this place to meet up with my coworkers for meetings, as it is quiet and intimate for lunch. The first time I ordered the Pappardelle con Sugo di Agnello (Lamb Ragu with Pappardelle) and it was so savory and delicious that I have ordered it a couple more times. Another favorite is the Fettuccine Alfredo Con Pollo, this is a favorite of a few of my coworkers and looked delicious. Last time I was there I ordered the Lobster Ravioli and a seasonal salad that had prosciutto wrapped peaches, simply so good. I honestly feel lucky to have this restaurant in the neighborhood, so I can treat myself! Check it out, the service and food are awesome.

Yelp
As an Italian American sometimes it can be hard to find a really good Italian restaurant since nothing beats home cooked, but this place hit the spot. Must try this new restaurant! The olive oil with spices paired well with the small slices of bread so you don't fill up on the bread before your actual meal arrives. I ordered the lobster ravioli with saffron cream sauce The sauce was perfect. Raviolis were full, not flat. Flavorful and creamy sauce. Meal doesn't leave you feeling heavy and bloated afterwards like some other Italian restaurants. Husband ate his fettuccine in about 5 seconds it was so good! Kids enjoyed their pasta and pizza aswell. Service was great! Knowledgeable and Friendly. Alejandro speaks a little Italian! He even gave my boys a scoop of gelato for dessert . Definitely an Experienced chef at the helm. Decor was nice. Warm lighting. Vibe is relaxed with the soft sounds of music playing in the background. Very clean bathrooms that actually smelled good. If a restaurant has clean bathrooms that smell good that usually means they run a clean tight ship. Means a lot in my book. Will definitely come back to try other menu options. Would be nice to add a charcuterie board for an app option and some fresh pasta options. Fresh pasta is always a hit! Definitely Looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Recently paid this place a visit and we were told they just opened weeks ago! Came for lunch on a sunny Sunday with the fam, and we were all pretty content with our meal. The server was very attentive and answered all of our questions. I ordered the rigatoni con capesante, and it was delicious. Loved the pasta sauce and the bouncy scallops. 100% would get again. My family also tried the steak, the sole and Caesar salad. Everything was good, I only wish I had tried their tiramisu dessert. Will have to come back!

Yelp
Everything is good to me! I enjoy the food, the service is good too. It was my hubby birthday and our family of 4 went there early dinner around 430pm, the only restaurant nearby opened at 430pm. The food was tasty good to me, but my hubby think otherwise, he order the steak, my daughter doesn't like the lamb chops, granddaughter only ordered Cesar salad, I ordered the special deals with 3 course meal for $35, I picked the ceaser salad, pan sear chicken with creamy Marsala sauce, this is so delicious and melt in my mouth and the Timimasui cake was yummy . I like to say thank you for the waiter, I forgot his name, he is very attentive and give is great service! Thank you

Yelp
I was surprised that I enjoyed the ambiance, food and service at a restaurant at 24th and Potrero, yet I was! My friend had been there twice and raved about the restaurant, so I thought I would try it. Being Italian from the East Coast and the fact that I am Italian American makes me extremely picky. when it comes to Italian food. We were greeted by an extremely friendly waiter and a caring lady who poured us glasses of mineral water, which I love, no charge. He told us the specials and was very accommodating when we ordered. He brought bread with olive oil and vinegar and answered our questions. My friend ordered the steak, potatoes and asked for a garlic and oil spinach, instead of vegetables with a tasty Chardonnay. I ordered chicken parmagiana with spaghetti yet I could change to capellini. We ordered fresh and delicious salads, mine was ceasar, and his was spinach, both delicious. The food was fabulous. Al dente pasta with tender, tasty chicken parmagiana with a lovely tomato sauce. My friend's steak was superb, nice sauce, loved the potatoes and spinach. We were asked how everything was. It was exceptional. I had a cappaciano, no desert, too full. We felt like we were treated as family. A lovely night. Don't hesitate to go. I will be back, for sure.

Yelp
Loved this place service was excellent food was great and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Would recommend ! Alex out waiter was so kind!

Yelp
There have been so many restaurants in this location over the past few years, and none of them seem to "stick", but I really hope this place stays. Cozy, unpretentious, great service and tasty food. We had the calamari - perfect, tender and crispy at the same time, Cesar salad - delicious, and 2 pizzas, both excellent (we started with one but they were smaller than we anticipated and we were hungry!). Nice bottle of Sangiovese, a perfect night out for a very reasonable price. My only recommendation: I get that it's hard to keep fresh bread on hand, especially when it's not busy (we came in on a Sunday and there were only a couple of other guests), but in that case offer the bread toasted.... The excellent olive oil mix that it was served with deserved better than stale tasting bread!

Yelp
Took the chance on this new spot for my fiancées 30th birthday and couldn't have been happier. We will definitely be returning. Extremely friendly and attentive service the entire time. Ambiance is perfect for a date night or group gathering. Food was delicious. I don't think anyone was disappointed: from the appetizers to the entrees. Alejandro hooked us all up with a little taste of their homemade limoncello after dinner and it was dangerously delicious. Sweet touch of providing my fiancée with a candle lit tiramisu for her birthday as well. Glad to have found this spot in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Finally, a nice Italian restaurant has come to the neighborhood. The type of place that can be on the regular place to go to lunch or dinner. We've eaten there once for lunch and twice for dinner. My husband is the pasta guy and has had 3 different types of pastas and wants to go back for more. I try to stay away from whole dishes of carbs and have had the steak, salmon and pork loin in a wine reduction sauce, all were pretty good. The pork was my favorite, so tender. The ambiance is casual, welcoming and warm. The waiter is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Price for a nice dinner is not bad considering how high restaurant prices have gotten. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Good Italian food with Exceptional service . About $40 per person without drinks . Place is big with 2 sections, The inner section is more private .

Yelp
We're happy to have a solid Italian spot open up nearby! We tried the carpaccio, burrata salad, soup of the day, chicken Parmesan, and the seafood spaghetti special. Everything was great and the service was top notch. The Chicken Parmesan and the burrata salad were real standouts for us. We're definitely looking forward to coming back soon!

Yelp
Wow! I'm so happy this place just opened up - everything was incredible from food to ambiance to service. We got the special appetizer of the day, the zucchini bloom, and although I wish it was a bigger dish, it was SOO tasty. The prosciutto on the pizza just melted in our mouths and the dough was really well done. And the vodka pasta paired really well with the scallops. Last but not least, the TIRAMISU was one of the best I've had! Everything had really authentic flavors and were really well balanced. Our server was also so kind and attentive, he really made our dinner a very special experience. I highly recommend everyone go check this place out!

Yelp
Been here several times now, and every time it's been good. Staff made me feel like an old friend the first time and the fifth time. Ambiance is good but come here for the food. My recommendation is the pasta if it's your first time, but either the lamb ragu or any of the seafood pasta. Only thing I'd change is a slightly larger wine list, and if that's my only complaint, I know the place is good. Really hard to go to another place, knowing we can come here and have a relaxed time with good food and let the stresses of our day fade away for a few hours.

Yelp
3.5* if that could be possible. Service was great. Food was good but not great. We had the squid ink risotto, a pizza, and a pasta dish, calamari, and cioppino. Aside from the calamari, everything was too salty. Seafood in cioppino lacked freshness. Price point appropriate for what you got.

Yelp
A couple of friends and I met at Caprizza before a show at Brava last week. What a lovely time we had. The space is comfy and the staff extremely welcoming. And we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The salads are fresh and delicious and surprisingly affordable. My friends each tried a pasta--a penne dish and gnocchi with marinara sauce. I had the beautifully grilled salmon that comes with vegetables and a tasty risotto. The server was kind and charming and the prices are reasonable. I see they're open for lunch as well as dinner--I'll be back soon!

Yelp
What an amazing Italian restaurant. New and a total gem. Sangiovese and Zinfandel. Bread with pesto was great, light pesto. Ordered the Cesar and Carpaccio to split. Both amazing! The service was great, welcoming and friendly, very nice staff! Great ambiance. You can understand each other but it feels lively and neighborly too. All around a great vibe in this 3 month old restaurant!

Yelp
We ate here recently. It was alright. Not very crowded. I had lobster ravioli and it was good.

Yelp
Hands down best and most comforting spaghetti bolognese I've ever had with thick tomato sauce. Always receiving quick and warm service. Beautiful and comforting atmosphere with dimmer lighting. Overall a great place for both casual and formal occasions!

Sarah T.

Yelp
Quaint little place, fresh and clean! The staff here is so sweet. I was served a bread/spread appetizer and my server thoughtfully asked if I had allergies. He listed off the ingredients of the spread and it was many things I hate, but ended up being delicious lol. Excited to try more items off their menu.

Summer W.

Yelp
The service here is unmatched! The hostess and our server were so kind, we wish we were locals so we could become regulars. The food was delicious, every dish ordered was devoured. I recommend the gnocchi, 10 out of 10. The restaurant itself is very cozy and beautifully decorated. Will definitely return the next time we are in town!

Irving G.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing we got great service from Alejandro as soon as we walked in he welcomed us with a smile. We got the daily special ox tail ragu gnocchi which was amazing felt like a little Italian grandma made it, the porkchop is one of the juceiest I have ever had as well and we finished it with 1 of the best tiramisu and cappuccino ive had my whole life and ive been to rome and many high end Italian restaurants before so I have high expectations I will definitely be going back and recommend everyone give it a try.

Yelp
Really awesome place! I had the spinach and walnut salad which was phenomenal would definitely get again, the lobster ravioli with the saffron cream sauce was also delicious and was a great portion size, I also had the tiramisu which was so good I'm still thinking about it. The service was also great, very efficient and attentive. Really good experience overall, will be going back!

Isabel T.

Yelp
Alejandro gave top notch recommendations. A gem in the heart of La Misson on 24th. Definitely will make it my go to Italian food in the City. Food was delicious.

Ramona N.

Yelp
Great little Italian find! Fantastic service, nice atmosphere, resaonable prices, good portions and a very reasonable corkage fee. Only downside was food was a bit over salted... I have to remember to ask chefs to not oversalt.

Jacob T.

Yelp
Very good new spot. Had the cioppino and spaghetti bolognese. Cioppino was well spiced and seafood was cooked just right. Bolognese was rich and pasta also cooked very well. Everything was flavorful without being too salty. Service was top notch. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Anna J.

Yelp
Caprizza was amazing! Excellent food and service. We loved it! Can't wait to come again soon -- great neighborhood spot for a delicious dinner.
