The 12 Best Seafood Restaurants In Jacksonville, 2021 - Eater Miami

"Cap’s On the Water is known for the spectacular views of the St. Augustine waterways, ample outdoor dining space, and plates of seafood with a distinct Greek and Southern twist. One plate that is often seen flying out of the kitchen is the sea bass succotash, which is prepared with Chilean sea bass over a bed of pillowy gnocchi with edamame and oven roasted tomatoes in corn chowder. One great thing about Cap’s is that it can make many of their dishes allergy-friendly, so just let the server know." - Megan duBois

I absolutely loved this place. The views are amazing and the food is equally good. I had herb-crusted salmon with asparagus and an amazing sauce. The she crab soup was tasty as well!! I highly recommend if you're in the area.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary at Cap’s and so enjoyed the evening. While we waited for a good table, we had a cocktail and oysters at bar. Nice, casual atmosphere. Once seated, we were more than pleased with the view and our meal. As with the bartender, our server was friendly and efficient. We both enjoyed our meals and desserts. Ate way too much! And of course, we couldn’t help but love the beautiful sunset. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

Delicious food and drinks! This place came recommended from someone I met on a cruise and it did not disappoint. We got the gator tail, truffle fries with peanut sauce, the pain killer drink, beef tips, the seafood trio, Caesar salad, and the vanilla flounder (which was not spicy btw even though it was crusted with horse radish and wasabi). Our server was lovely and the complimentary valet really made this whole dinner experience wonderful. It's also a beautiful spot in general with all the lights and being on the water. Would definitely come back!

Google
I wa very pleased with Caps. It was beautifully placed on the water with a beautiful view. We went right around Sunset and only had to wait about 10 minutes. Our server Sierra was very nice and fun to have. The food was excellent. I ordered the pasta and a painkiller cocktail. Both were phenomenal. My only complaint would be that I added steak to my pasta and I was charged for the entire meal of the steak. So my pasta was nine dollars while The steak was 17. I do think that was a little outrageous considering I didn’t have all the benefits of the whole steak meal that you can order. Definitely not my servers fault, but rather just an annoying feature from the restaurant. But all worth it because it was delicious!

The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was excellent, and the breathtaking view made the whole experience even more special. I will definitely come back on my next visit — highly recommended!💯

Google
One of the most beautiful restaurants/places this Midwest girl has ever been. This place is big and every room looks beautifully designed and elegant. My favorite part was the trees hanging overhead, they added so much atmosphere, especially with the lights strung around them. The blackened market salmon was delicious. We were all raving about the She Crab Soup too. The cocktails were also all very cute. I'd come back to St. Augustine just so I can bring other people to this place. And waiter was a great sport when my friends bet him eat a spicy pepper 🌶️ My only negative was we did not get our check till after the place was closed, and we were waiting to catch our server to ask but he did not appear for a minute. But it was so lovely and delicious l don't even care. 10/10

Had a wonderful meal at Caps on the Water in St. Augustine. I had the lobster ravioli and oysters both were delicious and packed with great flavor. The food was fresh and well-prepared, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere added to the experience, making it a great spot for a relaxing and tasty dinner. Highly recommend!

Had a great family dinner here. Amazing views of the sunset. Service was great by the server and it has valet parking. Ample portion of fresh seafood.

Yelp
Nice ambience, good food, great service - what's not to like?? We went to Caps on the Water on a slightly chilly Saturday for dinner. We opted to sit inside, they have heaters outside by the water which would have made for a beautiful scene as we ate but it was just too cold. The inside is cozy and tables well spaced out. We shared a beet salad, which was so simple yet excellently prepared with the goat cheese and vinaigrette really helping the dish shine. We also shared a tuna tartare which was also well seasoned and the chips were good and crispy! For entrees, the blackened catch (grouper) with curry, pickled veggies, and brown rice was so delicious - the seasoning and cook on the fish was amazing, and the curry brought some luscious flavor to the dish. The fish and chips were also great, all well seasoned, although the fish could have been a little crispier. The fries and hush puppies though were great as-is, and the tartar sauce brought the whole thing together. Our server was super friendly and answered all our questions with a smile, just the cherry on top! A nice place for a nice sit down meal.

Yelp
Family visiting for Christmas- must visit Caps because everyone loves this place. Sat outside under the heaters by the water near the bar. Our waitress Austin was outstanding - she took excellent care of our group. We started with some raw oysters from VA. Also ordered the breadbasket which had two types of butter in garlic and a honey butter mix. Also several Caps Old Fashioned they use Four Roses (very yummy). Son had the fresh catch tonight it was grouper, two shared the crusted grouper and I had the She Crab Soup. Plus we shared an order of hush puppies. Be sure to try their asparagus it's delicious. Great views, excellent food, outstanding service plus no parking issues (everyone uses their valet service). Yep it's a 5/5.

Yelp
It has been over 2 years since our last visit here at CAPS and we have family visiting so this place is a great dinner spot to choose. Of course, there are no reservations. Valet only parking, 10-minute wait on the parking lot which is alright. But we had to wait another 20 minutes at the new waiting area to order drinks. The new pier is a good idea so that guests can chill while waiting. Be prepared to wait as it really does fill up on the weekends. Got the Vilano Shrimp for the appetizer as it is sautéed in spicy Thai garlic sauce paired along with olives and Asiago cheese and spinach. It was tasty, but the shrimp was a bit dry. Crusted Catch was delicious-just right with the texture of the fish with mashed potatoes and a variety of greens blended very well. To top it off, we ordered the Lava Cake and it was excellent as we all shared it to the last bite.

Yelp
We ate at Caps on the Water tonight, for the last day of our short (3 night) stay in St. Augustine. The weather has been chilly (50's) and this was the warmest day. They gave us a nice table with a view in their indoor pavilion. We shared the shrimp skewers appetizer, which was really tasty. Our server was so pleasant. My husband ordered the fish & chips. I had the garlic noodles with blackened chicken. The noodles were awesome--garlic, cilantro, & a few chopped peanuts. The sunset views were amazing. I felt like I was on Maui or somewhere far away. It was a great evening.

Yelp
This restaurant really embodies the St. Augustine vibe. There is complimentary valet parking upon arrival. We had a short wait for dinner, so we grabbed a spot at the bar to get some cocktails. I had one of the best Aperol Spritz. Our party of 6 was seated right by the water, which was nice. We enjoyed the ambiance of the sunset while dining. Our server was great and provided good information on the dishes we had questions about. I ordered the Jambalaya, and it was TOP NOTCH. The flavors were so good, and there was a plentiful amount of shrimp and sausage with every bite. A show stopper was the 2 cornbread muffins served with the dish. I could eat those every day! Everyone in our group was very pleased with their orders. The service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great.

Yelp
Beautiful views, great food & drinks, friendly service. If you're looking for a place to enjoy the sunset on the water Caps is the place. While you enjoy the views, the cocktails and food are sure to enhance the experience. From the time you walk in until the time you check out, the experience all around is phenomenal.

Yelp
Went with a large group of coworkers and it was such a wonderful experience! First of all, the views are incredible. We had a large table outside (thankfully there was a nice breeze because it was hot!). The service was top tier as well. Our server was amazing - and I know large parties can generally be a challenge but this was such a smooth and great experience. Everyone who stopped by our table was lovely. I sampled a large amount of items so I won't go into specific details on each. I am giving the food 4 stars. It's not the best I've ever had but not at all bad. Good portions. You are definitely paying for the vibes though. And they are well worth it. My specific meal was the honey rosemary salmon. I really enjoyed it! And the oysters were amazing. We had several kinds. The drinks were also pretty good. Everyone in the party was very satisfied with their food, beverages, and the experience. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Caps will forever be one of my favorite restaurants and this visit solidified that! We started with the oysters Rockefeller. First of all's they were HUGEEE. The picture doesn't do it justice. Each oyster was large enough for 2 crackers. They were insane! I chose the vanilla crusted grouper with mashed, and dried spinach for my entree. Hubs chose the Jumbalaya...yes, I was shocked by his choice as well haha My fish was absolutely perfect. It was paired with a vanilla rum sauce and it gave it the perfect amount of smooth factor with a hint of sweetness. The piece of fish was also HUGE. A very nice serving size and my hubs was happy to help me finish it. His jumbalaya was fantastic. The flavor was spot on from what we favored in NOLA. We both agree that we would choose our meals again! The weather was perfect Saturday night. A nice breeze and not hot at all!!

Yelp
The restaurant was about a 20 minute drive from downtown St Augustine. They offered courtesy valet parking in their own lot. We were seated in a few minutes without advance reservation. Our waitress was prompt, polite and helpful. The food came out quickly and was delicious. We didn't get the waterfront table this time around but if you can, try to book it in advance . The waterfront views are great
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
So friggin good! You know this place has fresh seafood when it's right on the water like this and everything is delicious. The only thing that maybe wasn't as great was the jambalaya that my husband had, but maybe it's because we live in Texas and right next to the next jambalaya state around - so if it's not jambalaya from Louisiana, it's not great jambalaya! I had the seared grouper and it was heavenly. The view is breathtaking. We went right around sunset and I wish I had taken a picture of when the sun actually started to set, but my hubby and I were too busy gabbing away with my aunt & uncle that brought us here. Tha ambiance is very nice. It's fancy but is also tropical. I did not get to view the inside part much, but from what I saw it was also quite spacious. Would definitely recommend eating here if you're in the area.

Yelp
Food was cooked fresh and very tasty. The crab cake was full of crab meat. The service was quick and thorough. The ambience was beautiful, waterfront with inside and outside heaters that kept us warm and cozy.

Yelp
When you walk in it looks like you are on vacation. The views are absolutely gorgeous. The service is spectacular. Our server, I believe her name was Emily, was well versed on the menu. The food was sooo delish! Everything on the menu that we ordered was great. This is a bomb spot for a birthday ddinner. We came on a Thursday night in October so the wait was about 30 minutes and the resturant has insinside and outside seating. We sat right on the water. The ambience is giving crazy romantic.

Yelp
We had a fantastic experience at Cap's. It offers fine dining in a beautiful, yet casual setting. The views of the intracoastal are amazing, especially at sunset. One really important thing to note: they don't take reservations and the wait can be pretty long at peak times. Thankfully, we got in at 9:05pm (it closes at 10pm) and the 2 of us had no trouble getting seated right away. Another helpful reminder is that they offer (free!) valet parking so carrying a little cash for tip would be a good idea. Now on to the food service! I tend to prefer servers who are more direct about their recommendations, especially at this higher price point, but she was friendly and helpful. I ordered the sesame seared tuna and it was amazing! I'm so glad I veered away from my typical blackened catch option. The tuna is served rare, so keep that in mind. The pickled cucumbers and plantains (maduros) gave the perfect balance. I switched the spinach out for the carrots, which had good flavor but some were undercooked. The fries we shared were also delicious. My husband ordered a special (5/2024) almond crusted lemon mahi which he didn't love, unfortunately.

Yelp
The view at this restaurant is absolutely priceless and for that alone it's worth a visit. We got there before sunset and took pics out on the dock. I went with a group of friends last weekend and I had the Rockefeller oysters and the garlic shrimp. The oysters were amazing. Garlic shrimp needed more seasoning. My friends all seemed to enjoy their food and the service was great!

Yelp
TALK ABOUT A GORGEOUS LOCATION! Everything here was laid out so perfectly from start to finish. When you drive up to the location, the estimated wait time is displayed outside the parking lot so you are aware of the wait time before you park. There is free valet parking. The wait was estimated to be 120 minutes (we came on Mother's Day, so I get it). There is a beautiful dock area with a few servers that is specifically to enjoy cocktails and appetizers while you wait for your table. Our wait was actually 75 minutes for waterfront seating so that was a nice surprise. Our server was the nicest :) he explained the menu very well and gave some great recommendations. I'm going to be honest, I saw a menu picture on Yelp from a few months ago detailing that there were Dungeness crab legs but they didn't have that this time around. So I guess they must have recently changed their menu. I snapped some pictures of the menu for my fellow Yelpers to not be misled like I was. ALAS, the lack of crab legs did not ruin my mood because this place was just THAT great. We ordered a she crab soup (SO GOOD), the Oysters Rockefeller, grilled octopus, and we split a sesame seared tuna (MP was $42). We got a little rum cake and molten lava cake to take home for dessert as we were stuffed. Those were divine! I would definitely come back here and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND for a fancy date night :)

Yelp
This place has it all from complementary valet parking to a perfect location on the water! The service is friendly and welcoming. The drink menu has a lot of variety. The seafood is spectacular and deliciously prepared. The venue is perfect and has an inviting ambiance. I can't say enough positive things about this place (only that I wish they would take dinner reservations). Really enjoyable!
google avatar

Carla M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stopped by on Saturday night - naturally the place was packed! The way they organized the parking (complimentary valet) was impressive! They had a guy directing traffic, a girl with an iPad taking down your name and party size, and then when you checked in with the hostess, they were able to tell you the wait time. This is a large restaurant with indoor seating, outdoor seating, a bar and a beautiful dock. What is super cool is - you can just go to the dock and order drinks/appetizers directly from a server there. We ended up doing that, since the wait for an outdoor table was 90 min, and we did not want to miss the sunset. Wish more places offered this option!

Yelp
More than 4, less than 5. 4.5? My friend and I came to celebrate our birthdays. Valet is nice and they are quick! I didn't like that the smoking was next to the valet so while we waited I had to smell smoke. We wanted to sit by the water but it was a much longer wait so we sat inside where the seats were heavily used lol I mean sink in so low you almost can't touch your feet used. Not sure if they were going for that, but it was mildly uncomfortable lol. Our waitress was adorable I loved her she has great energy. We started with the sampler platter- 5/5! The salmon was fantastic with the relish- I loved it. The pear ravioli was amazing, glad we didn't have to share it with our dates. The beet salad is their seasonal salad right now and it is 5/5. I could eat it everyday. Hubs didn't like the amount of potatoes he got with his steak- he was very disappointed in the portion size (being small) 4/5. He also didn't like the tomato situation. Everyone overall enjoyed their food. The deserts were pretty good. I got the lava cake which was slightly dry. This is a solid restaurant with great views but I felt like the price didn't fit. I would come here again for the salad for sure!

Yelp
A fan favorite...caps on the water! I will say, expect a wait if you're coming for prime time dinner. You do have to valet your car which is a little annoying. Of course it is complimentary with a not-so complimentary tip. Anyways, the food is consistently good. It's always very fresh, and is typically pretty quick once you do sit down. Some notable favorites are the fish and chips, truffle fries, shrimp and scallop sauté, blackened fresh catch, and vanilla grouper. Ultimately we do come for the ambiance. Right on the water, indoor/outdoor options, tables are shaded, tropical inspired cocktails. It's a vacation right in our backyard! TLDR: delicious food, great ambiance, expect to wait a while

Yelp
Caps allows you to relax, have delicious food, and enjoy the view with family and friends. The service is very good, and they provide valet parking too.

Yelp
I did not realize it had been years since I updated my review for Caps, so I decided to do that. My girlfriends and I have put this on a girls night rotation several times per year and have been enjoying our trip down from Jacksonville (about 45 minutes). The atmosphere is great being waterfront, inside and outside dining options, and a nice menu loaded with fresh seafood dishes. Our last visit was to enjoy the St. Augustine Nights of Lights and to celebrate Christmas and holiday birthdays. I always take my own bottle of wine to a restaurant and the corkage fee here is $25. That is a bit steep compared to other places I frequent but it is an option. We had three entrees as we love the bread and butter, so no appetizers were needed. The entrees were the tuna, the salmon and a blackened grouper. All were delicious. They do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait. You can get a drink and stroll the dock while you wait though. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

Yelp
Long term residents of St Augustine and have been visiting Caps from not only on land but also by boat on the weekends for alot of years. We have always had a good experience but tonight was a completely different monster. Jeff Blais, you sir are a obnoxious and pathetic individual. The energy that you approached my family with was nothing short of abusive. We showed up to Caps a few minutes late of our reservation. The wedding party we were part of was already inside and wasn't able to order until we were present. Parking was a absolute disaster and was lined down the road with the almighty Jeff Blais directing the circus. I suggested to my wife and daughter to get out and head up to the table since we already were seated and would not be jumping past anyone in line and also my 11 year old daughter badly needed to use the restroom. Jeff imeaditly began to yell at my wife and daughter to get back in the vehicle. Then directed them to come stand next to him. Upon getting out of the vehicle to explain to him we already have a table and party inside he insisted on telling me he set up that party and for whatever reason that means they cannot walk up or use the restroom until my vehicle is parked. After some back and forth wich is all on video from my dash camera and cell phone and without me ever raising my voice or being aggressive he said he had decided to refuse us service and we needed to leave imeaditly as he was calling the police. Jeff desperately needs to learn how to work with the public in a professional manner. I understand he is stressed with not having enough parking available but to become a tyrant who aggressively refuses service to whoever he sees fit because he is having a bad day is a unfortunate situation. Jeff's actions and attitude are something upper management should be completely embarrassed by and from a professional standpoint should be addressed imeaditly. He needs training on how to de escalate situations and work with customers in a way that is positive to the business. At this point I want to be angry but I actually feel bad for him. There must be some serious depression and anger issues that have caused him to be this person. To anyone attempting to visit Caps please be prepared to walk on eggshells with Jeff Blais. The man is unstable and will ruin your wedding party, anniversary, baby shower or just refuse to let you child use the restroom without even thinking twice about it. The Owners are delusional, they refuse to accept the fact that their Management staff lacks proper hospitality training. If you go on multiple different review sites you will see years of documented abuse by the same manager over and over again. The Owners will only imeaditly blame each customer in a aggressive and abusive manner. It's funny to think that 100 people over the last few years will "Make up" the same story for what reason? I originally thought Management was the issue but can clearly see from documented history the problem lies with ownership. Attitude reflects leadership!

Yelp
Love this place mostly because of its vibe, design, and river view. But the menu is delicious, have a fresh catch. I was surprised it was opened in 1947, and that restaurant has about 500 types of wine selection. Our company had st augustine oysters and gator tails as appetizers, then we ordered salmon, tuna, and flounder. The last one was a bit dry. Cream brulle and rum cake were great addition to our diner. Complimentary valet parking. Or dock for boats. Service great. Waited for a riverfront table about 10 mins.

Yelp
This place was so great we came here twice in a week! It's a pretty big place, with different seating areas. The first time we went, we sat in the enclosed room (looked like a garden room). Second time we ate at the covered pavilion, which was really nice. The place is nicely decorated, great water views and beautiful sunsets! Service was excellent both times. Servers were both attentive and made great dinner recommendations. Including recommending getting the vanilla rum sauce on the side due to its sweetness. Good thing she did, because my husband would not have enjoyed the fish with the sauce. Everything we ate was excellent! She crab soup, crusted catch mahi, seafood trio, fish (without the vanilla rum sauce), chicken gnocchi, kid's pasta. I can see why the place is always packed. Also liked the free valet. Will come back if in the area again.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place for my birthday. We had a great meal. The good - Quality food (mahi, shrimp, scallops, oysters, calamari all fresh and executed well) Location - sitting outside by the water makes me happy - and this is a great casual but nice spot Service - friendly and helpful Other - Prices a bit high all around, which puts this in a "special occasion" category for us Menu - I love eclectic but this was just a bit disjointed. We ordered the calamari with all the components separate as the spicy (and sweet) garlic sauce didn't seem to go with olives, cheese, and fried spinach. Glad we did. Any of those on their own (or with marinara) would be good but together it was odd Pace - thankfully we weren't in a rush, but with kids it took leisurely pace to a new level. The bread basket and the driftwood climbing structure saved us when the kitchen got backed up

Yelp
Wow just wow. This place was incredible. I had the best last night in St. Augustine because of Caps. We got there right at opening (4ish) and got to pick whatever seat we wanted. Shawn was our server and he was awesome; fast, kind and knowledgeable about the dishes. He made sure we never had an empty glass (which, as a cocktail connoisseur I very much appreciated). I had their Sunset Martini with st augustine gin and my partner had their classic Old fashioned. Both were amazing. The view and the dock itself is just breathtaking. The absolute perfect place to go for sunset! For apps we ordered the gumbo, and fried calamari. It was a little too hot outside for the gumbo but it was very well seasoned, and the calamari was flavorful and crunchy-not soggy. For dinner, we shared the fresh catch (wish I could remember what fish it was but it was flaky and yummy) with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Very happy with our visit and next time I'm in Northern Florida, I would love to go back!

Mary P.

Yelp
On a recent visit to St. Augustine we visited Caps on the Water that was recommended by a local when we asked for a place to see the sunset with dinner. This place did not disappoint. We opted to eat at the bar outside and it was a great choice. There were several very busy bartenders but they were attentive and friendly. They had a great variety of appetizers to choose from so it would be great place for appetizers and cocktails, you would be full. We started with a warm Blue Crab Dip. It was served with the regular accompaniments including delicious pickled jalapeños and a few different dipping options but the fresh made toasts were our favorite. Excellent flavor and a great starter for cocktails and chatter. For dinner I ordered the Chicken Garlic Noodles which the bartender said was new to the menu and popular. Such a great choice with grilled chicken, tossed with garlic noodles and pickled veggies. It was unique and such a flavorful treat. You need to like garlic, which I love!! My partner ordered the Seafood Trio that had a crab cake, fried cod and fried shrimp. It was an ample portion, crispy and delicious and included the best hush puppies I ever had in a long time. Dinner was filling but we shared an excellent Espresso Martini and toasted the beautiful sunset! We'll be back!

Yelp
Recently visited Caps with friends for dinner. They highly recommended the restaurant based on fantastic food, views, and service. Our evening there did not disappoint. When we arrived there was a 30 minute wait (they don't take reservations); however the time flew by as we sat on their expansive partially covered dock overlooking the intercostal with a server at the ready to take our drink orders. We chatted and enjoyed a cocktail while we waited. The next thing we knew, our table was ready, and it was right along the water. We had a great meal of oyster rockefeller, blackened scallops, crusted salmon, and crusted sheepshead along with another round of drinks. Our server was kind and attentive. The valet parking is a nice touch as well. We would definitely come back. Thanks!

Ted J.

Yelp
The best restaurant in St. Augustine. Best menu. Best food. Best drinks. Best staff. Overall the best dining experience you can have in this area.

Yelp
Hidden gem! The cutest outdoor seating overlooking the water with a quaint and peaceful atmosphere. If you like seafood this is a must try! They had several fresh catched fish options and a well rounded menu. Service was great and accommodated all our request. We went for lunch and they had valet service so seems like that's the only parking option. Overall great food and a great experience. Must go if you're in the area!

Yelp
The food was okay, i enjoyed the meal. The manager was unnecessarily stressed out and yelling at his employees while they moved furniture in to keep from getting rained on. His childish behavior was totally distracting from an otherwise fine meal.

Yelp
Great for a waterside dinner and pretty sunset! It does get busy during the weekends and will sometimes have a 30-45min before sunset so I recommend getting there early and hanging out at one of the bars there. Great service and great atmosphere. The food was pretty good, nothing incredible, but good! We got several seafood dishes, definitely not the best seafood we've had in St. Augustine but still decent. The pesto pasta special was amazing though! Overall, this is a great spot for a sunset dinner and good food, just be prepared to wait. Valet parking was convenient as well. Full party must be present for seating as well, so you can't go early and put your name down without everyone there.

Yelp
Awesome atmosphere! Cool vibes. If you love scallops, I highly recommend the appetizer!

Yelp
Caps on the Water: A Seafood Gem Rating: 100/10 My recent dining experience at Caps on the Water was beyond exceptional. The freshness and flavor of the fish were unparalleled, leaving me eager to return for more. In fact, I couldn't resist visiting twice during my two-day stay, and each meal surpassed the last. As someone very picky with fish, I was pleasantly surprised by the Salmon I ordered and almost wanted seconds! My wife's Cod was equally delightful. The fish, along with the fries and appetizers, were toe-curling in their deliciousness. The staff at Caps on the Water are a true asset, embodying kindness and a genuine eagerness to ensure a delightful dining experience. Their recommendations on fish preparation were spot-on, showcasing their expertise and commitment to customer satisfaction. I must commend the complementary valet service, which added to the overall convenience and comfort of my visit. The valets were not only courteous but also appreciative of tips, reflecting a culture of gratitude that permeates the entire establishment. A special shoutout to Branden, my waiter, whose exceptional service and kindness enhanced my dining experience. His attentiveness and helpfulness were truly remarkable. The view was absolutely amazing. We were able to get a table on the waterfront which was super relaxing as well as really added to the ambience. I loved being able to sit outside underneath the trees and listen to the water as we ate. It just added Overall, Caps on the Water exceeded my expectations in every way. From the delectable seafood to the friendly staff, this restaurant deserves a rating of 100/10. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
I really do like Caps On The Water and I do think I need to try more things on the menu before I knock it up or down a peg. First off, the location is awesome. The valet crew does a great job and the hostesses did get us seated pretty quickly. We did ask them to move us to a water view as the booths further inside have no real views, so if your there on date night make sure get a water reservation. Now the waiter we had was very friendly and helpful with menu selections. I enjoyed the fact they had quite the dinner menu and fresh seafood options. The drink menu was also pretty awesome. I recommend the aged bourbon Manhattan! Both my wife and I got a couple appetizers, oysters, and different entrees. Some of the food was great some of food was ahhh ok. Also, be aware the Calamari appetizer is way hotter than advertised! Regardless it was a great experience and we will be back. I just need to swing in a few more times to move this up or down a notch. Overall, I would recommend it and starting with an A- grade. Will be back!

Yelp
4.25 Food, really good for the fish dishes, cooked well and great flavor. Three of us had the crabcakes (2 of us split one plate and added an extra Caesar salad as the crabcakes are a good size)- lots of lump meat, and one adult had the fried shrimp. Good amount and cooked well. The asparagus on the side was tender but still crisp- really good. With some of the meals we started with a pesto Caesar salad, light pesto- good flavor. Kids had the Half pound peel and eat shrimp- large, butter and two sauces. One had the cod fingers- lots of food- good size and flavor. Kids chicken tenders- 3, decent size normal fried strips. Kids meals were pricey- $14. Wouldn't mind this for the fish, but for chicken tenders def was a bit much. Also enjoyed a glass of rose, $14, but good. What I would say is that the food is very good, but prices are very high. Make sure to get something to warrant the higher prices. Skip the chicken tenders. Crabcake meal was $40, fried shrimp was $30- again very good but same quality and size as safe harbor for a lot more. For 4 adults and 3 kids it was $250 after tip- you pay for the view of course. I do know it is more of a deal before dinner hours, to try out at least. Service was great- kept drinks full and very sweet. Cooler out, but heat lamps helped with this- a big difference on the covered patio where we were seated over the open patio.

Yelp
I recently had an incredible dining experience at Cap's, located right on the Tolomato River. The picturesque sunset view added a touch of magic to the evening. The food was exceptional, with a delightful selection including oysters Rockefeller, vanilla grouper, beet goat cheese chicken salad, and beef tips. The service was equally impressive; they promptly addressed a small issue with my dirty martini, showing their commitment to customer satisfaction. The only minor inconvenience was the valet-only parking, so be sure to have cash for tipping. Also, while the dining experience was undeniably superb, it's important to note that the price point is on the higher side. Our bill ended up being about $100 more than our typical dinner outing.

Yelp
Oh y'all, this place was such a gem! Me and my gals wandered downtown St. Augustine all day, and by the time we got hungry, one of my friends found this spot that just looked perfect. We freshened up at the hotel and came back dressed to impress us even my husband was excited! From the start, the staff was sweeter than sweet. They even parked our car for us, which made me feel like a celebrity. The food? Absolutely delicious perfectly fried, seasoned to perfection, and worth every bite. The ambiance was so romantic, it took me back to my honeymoon in Louisiana in the summer of '87. Now, here's a little something funny my husband went to the restroom and came back giggling about some interesting pictures. It cracked me up, but for y'all with kiddos, maybe give this one a skip or keep their eyes covered. All in all, we had such a wonderful time. Great food, wonderful service, and a touch of humor to boot! I'd absolutely go back.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here last month for our anniversary. Unfortunately the night that we visited was rainy, so we couldn't enjoy the beautiful outdoor seating. We tried to get an indoor table, but the wait was over an hour. So we decided to eat at the bar, which was outside but somewhat protected from the rain. We ordered a couple cocktails, which were pretty good, but the service was better. :) Our food was delicious, and the wait wasn't long. The only negative I have is the salad I ordered. It seemed to have a lot of random ingredients in it. I love chopped salads, but olives and cranberries just don't seem to go together. Personal opinion.

Yelp
Great experience! Loved the beautiful views and service was excellent. Had some cocktails while we were waiting (wait was not that long on a Saturday surprisingly!) & they had a server specifically for the waiting area, which was nice. Ordered the garlic oysters & tuna tartare- both really good. Favorite was the espresso martini. Expensive but Worth it!

Yelp
Fantastic meal at Cap's! We sat outside on the deck facing the water, relaxing view. For dinner, I had the seared catch of the day, which was grouper. It was cooked perfectly, and the sides of mashed potatoes and roasted carrots were fabulous. I also got an extra side (hush puppies) and they were awesome. All that great stuff said, the food is a bit overpriced and their cocktails are way overpriced. Would suggest you come for the food and the ambience, but get your drinks elsewhere.

Yelp
What is not to love about sitting outside over looking the water. The food was excellent. Servers could smile more. Fun vibe!

Yelp
First and last experience here. We boated from Jax on a clear day and they wouldn't let us sit at one of 10 empty tables outside because of "possible incoming rain" (again the sky was blue and they had at least half a dozen groups sitting outside already) manager was rude and even gave us a hard time that our LITERAL baby didn't have a shirt on. Food was average. Waiter was fantastic. Hopefully he'll go somewhere with better management soon.

Yelp
Caps on the Water was wonderful., we all sat outside and had a great waitress named Olivia. The view was amazing we were right by the water. The food was beyond excellent, we all had the Seafood Trio, which had crab cake, fried shrimp and cod fingers with hush puppies, but I asked for mashed potatoes... it is one of the best places in St Augustine and the Atlantic is down across the road a way. Go see for yourself and enjoy!!!

Yelp
What an absolutely gorgeous restaurant!!!!!! We got there right when they opened so we could get a table on the water. It was so worth it, because within an hour, the entire restaurant was full. The views were spectacular and the weather perfect! Jordan was an absolute delight of a waitress! She brought waters without asking, was personable, and kind. We all got sodas and the salmon bruschetta. It came out quickly and she brought extra sauce because she loves it. We need more servers like Jordan. We NEVER felt rushed and in a place like this, that is unheard of! We shared the seafood trio, truffle fries, and a grouper sandwich. Everything was phenomenal. Tips: the she crab soup isn't great and they took it off my bill. Parking is only valet, so have some cash for a tip. Take lots of pictures on the pier! We ended the lunch with a delectable rum cake! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
A lovely dining experience. The food was spot on, excellent service and nice cocktails.
