Maryland’s 15 Best Crab Houses | Eater DC

"Located in southern Maryland, local favorite Captain Billy’s offers sunset views of the Potomac, along with steaming mounds of Old Bay seasoned crabs served by the dozen. Be sure to save room for dessert, too. The corn fritters with sugar and honey are a specialty. Hours are Friday to Sunday starting at 11 a.m." - Tierney Plumb

"Just in time for crab season, Captain Billy’s offers beautiful sunsets over the Potomac, tons of steamed crabs seasoned with Old Bay, and, as a guest reviewer noted, fried rockfish and hush puppies. “The Maryland blue crab is basically an icon — it’s emblematic of the Chesapeake region,” the reviewer said." - Lenore Adkins

Service was great, food was good, bathroom was clean. They could use some fly zappers . Our waitress was very attentive. She came over several times to make sure that we were okay. We ordered a couple of Cruzan bucket that were strong and delicious. This is my second time here and they are consistently a great choice. Come during the day and enjoy the water view if you dont like dark roads!

Great spot on the water! Captain Billy’s Seafood Restaurant has a really nice, relaxed atmosphere with beautiful waterfront views—perfect for a laid-back lunch or sunset dinner. The service was friendly and the prices were very reasonable, which made the experience feel like a good value. The food and drinks were okay—nothing over the top, but solid and satisfying, especially if you’re in the mood for classic seafood. The menu is extensive, so I plan to come back to try other items. Overall, it’s the kind of place you go for the scenery and chill vibe as much as the meal. I’d definitely return for the views, the breeze off the water, and the easygoing setting.

Google
I hate when I have to give a "less than" great review. This spot may be great for some, but for me it's a no. I'm not saying don't go, because everyone tastebuds aren't the same. My mother in law and I went to lunch to celebrate our birthdays and this is where she wanted to go. We both ordered the Waterman's platter that comes with 2 sides, 4 crab leg clusters, 6 whole crabs and a 1lb of shrimp for $100. That's an amazing price. However, the taste was lacking big time! Barely any seasoning, the shrimp stuck to the shell, the meat was hard to get out of the clusters, the spinach was chopped possibly frozen but decently seasoned, the applesauce tasted straight out of a can with chunks of apple-no cinnamon no nothing! Crabs tasted boiled or steamed in straight water- no beer, no seasoning-nothing. I guess thats why a lot of older people prefer this spot because it taste like nursing home food. The crab dip was more cheese than crab and the hushpuppies, I just didn't like. Comes with honey and butter in condiment packets...tiny packets. The melted butter for your crabs is not real butter-sent me straight to the bathroom it was so oily. I ended up eating 2 whole crabs and 1 cluster. Took the rest home to my husband who didn't complain until he got to work and text me: those crabs sucked...and them hushpuppies too. He didn't even touch the shrimp because he couldn't get the shell off. I know this is a well known spot and has been around for a long time, but yall need to change some things..like your cook(s) and the quality of seafood and/or how it's being prepared. Food plus 2 sodas came to $295 which included an automatically added handwritten gratuity of $49. First off, I don't recall being advised of that, secondly, I know how to add my own tip and last- you short yourself because I normally tip above. The added tip was about 22% for 2 people. Service was fast but I can't say it worthy of the higher end. She wasn't that friendly or accommodating. Nevertheless, I paid the bill without complaints. My mother in law may be back but I won't.

Wonderful place. The waitress was a sweetheart. The food came out pretty quickly. The view of the river was beautiful, especially at sunset.

Was in town for a weekend trip and happened across this place. Looking for a local place near the water with seafood - Captain Billy's to the rescue. Great seafood...local flavor...on the water...perfect cocktails...and seasoned waitstaff that's efficient with a smile. We loved this place and you will too.

The hushpuppies are a must. They have a nice outside seating area. The Waterman's is perfect for 2 people.

Yelp
It's hard to separate the food from the view. But really, the view really stole the show. Hanging out on a Friday afternoon outside was lovely. I ordered a crabcake sandwich and corn fritters (with honey). The fritters reminded me of something you get from a carnival, but the crabcake was good. I wish more options were in season when I visited, but what they had available was still plenty good. But more than anything - sit outside!

Sheila S.

Yelp
Great food, and very generous portions! It was a great way for me and my sisters to enjoy a view of the harbor with amazing food. I hope to get back soon.

Yelp
Captain Billy's is a beautiful scenic place to enjoy seafood with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a little chilly for us, so we decided inside at a table with a waterfront view. We were greeted when we came in, and our party of 5 was immediately seated. Stephanie was our waitress today, and she is amazing. Lively, friendly, helpful with suggestions. She made sure we had our drinks taken care of and our orders in a timely manner. Our table tried quite a bit of food! Appetizers: Captain Billy's Seafood dip - we loved it, and we definitely saw the crab and shrimp throughout. Bread was perfectly toasted and buttered. Jumbo steamed shrimp - they were great. Containers of seasoning were at the table for use along with cocktail sauce and lemons. Mains: Crab cakes dinner - crab meat no filler with fries and veggie of the day (mixed vegetables) Jumbo fried shrimp - perfectly crunchy served with tartar cocktail and fruit-cantaloupe and orange with coleslaw and potato salad. Coleslaw was the perfect amount of sweetness. Potato salad is simple and delicious. Rockfish - our table tried the grilled and fried. The grilled had more seasoning and was more flavorful. Fried was ok, but go with the grilled! Couples feast- pefect amount of crab legs and shrimp for two or a hungry person who wants leftovers! Parking was plentiful with some parking in front of the restaurant and plenty across the small street. Gratuity is included for orders $200+ or parties of 6 or more. Nice spot of you're looking to impress. It's a nice scenic drive if you're coming from the DC metro area. Enjoy!

Yelp
Amazing food and attentive service- fast and accurate! Can't recommend the Crab Bombs and Shrimp Basket enough- plus the view of the river is lovely!

Yelp
This is a real, no nonsense Maryland Crabhouse. We ordered a dozen crab and they threw in extra for good measure. Being April and right at the beginning of the season, the crab was fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the old traditional salty vibes. The servers were great and left us alone to do what we do best.. crack some crab shells! Great mixed drinks too. They even had frozen drinks. We will return in the summer, sip frozen drinks and eat more crab.
google avatar

Courtney D.

Yelp
The staff is very kind and personable. Food is consistently good and the prices are great compared to other local crab houses.

Yelp
Order any thing with the word "Crab" in it, is my #1 recommendation. I had the fried soft shell crab cake sandwich when we were there in mid-September (see photo). I was reluctant to order the cold slaw because I don't like it sweet or with to much mayo. Our server said it was good though so I tried it and I'm very glad I did. My sidekick had the crab cake sandwich. Both meals were 5/5. On another occasion I had the fried fish and that is awfully good also and I recommend it especially if it's a local fish on the menu. If it's a warm day, come early if you want to sit dockside. That's the best view. The place ain't fancy, decor wise, but it's mostly about the food for us foodies. This place closes part of the year, so check to make sure they're open.

Yelp
Capt Billy's is a local seafood restaurant located on the shore of the Potomac near the mouth of the Chesapeake. This establishment is legendary in the Southern Maryland area as well as the Washington DC area. Md Blue-shell crabs are featured along with an assortment of locally popular dishes to include Crab soups, Crab cakes, oysters, Rockfish and many other seafood specials. The environment is typical of Seafood houses along the Potomac and in the Southern Maryland area. Brown paper covers the tables, wait staff is a little slow as the place is always crowded. Overall the food is well prepared and delicious. Put on your bucket list for an experience that can only be found in Southern Maryland.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Great hard shell crabs, lump crab cake sandwiches, oyster stew, hush puppies, and corn fritters. Excellent service. Sit outside on nice days.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here with a very large group of friends, and the waitstaff was fantastic, despite us being such a large group. They were on top of the game, friendly, and attentive. The food was fair prices and absolutely top-tier; I can't recommend it enough. Make a trip here for sure. I would've taken pics of the food but my hands were too covered haha. Anyways-- go to captain Billy's.

Yelp
5 of out of 5! My parents, well - entire family really, have been coming to Captain Billy's for years! I wish the pictures I wanted to include were small enough to fit in this post, but to select items specifically to try - crabs, hands down - their Maryland crab soup is really good too, chunky with crab meat. Drinks - eh, their rum bucket is not to die for - tastes as if it's all "different" flavors of Malibu, not what I would think 4 or 5 different rums would be classified as. But either way, a must go to! If you don't get anything else, crab soup, crabs and fried shrimp basket! 5/5! Update: Pictures included***

Ed H.

Yelp
Very good prices in crabs. The crabs were mediums and appropriately meaty. First visit I also had nice, hot hush puppies and Smith Island cake, and a month later I had a tasty and creamy oyster stew. Prices are what you expect with good seafood. Only down point- no raw oysters.
google avatar

Yelp
We had not been to see the Captain since before covid; but on Saturday we hopped in the boat and headed to his dock! The bloody Mary's were great tasting! I had the lump crab cake and my wife had the crab salad summer plate. My wife loved her plate and my crab cake was the best I've ever had. It was worth every dollar of the $19 for the sandwich and a side! The other 7 in our group had no complaints either! And the view of the bridge from the dining deck was super!

Yelp
Captain Billy's is worth the drive. It's a family owned restaurant right on the Potomac. There's indoor and outdoor seating. They take reservations for large groups and you can do separate checks as long as the people sit together who are on the same check. The staff is Amazing! I have been going to Captain Billy's since I was a child and I am 42 years old. Clean atmosphere, awesome staff and great food. Anything that you can't finish can be taken in a to box. My friends that live in Northern Maryland drove two hours to have lunch with me at this restaurant. I wanted them to see how Southern Maryland gets down with the seafood. They left full and happy, by the way the drinks are everything. If you ask me this is the place to go. Check out my pictures. Enjoy!

Yelp
A group of 5 of us went for for an early dinner on 8/5 because we have been craving some crabs and crab legs. The restaurant was lively but not crowded and the service was fast, excellent and very personable. We had 2 orders of the Waterman's platters (6 crabs, 4 clusters of snow crab legs and two sides) , A crab cake dinner and a chicken tender dinner, a few orange crushes and a pitcher of light beer .The sides were cole slaw and french fries. Everything was on point: served quickly, hot and very tasty. The crabs were quite heavy and a few of them were very large. We had a really enjoyable meal at a spotlessly clean crab house on a nice summer afternoon!
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Captain billy has a great location but the Ambiance is nothing special. The service was ok, no problems there. The food was not worth the trip. The crabs were too small, over boiled, and the sides ordinary.
google avatar

Jeffery W.

Yelp
Always have a good meal. The crabs were good snow crabs were good. Also it was busy so the service was a little slow but no complaints.
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
Good local place for seafood! Just be careful walking from their parking lot to the actual building as you do have to cross a road to do so where there's no crosswalk and there are a few bars nearby
google avatar

Keyana L.

Yelp
We decided to take a mini road trip from DC and we're glad we did! Really good seafood here. I'm not a blue crab person so I prefer the snow crab legs but both were tasty menu items. We also ordered the specialty cocktail bucket that was strong and fruity. Perfect for a nice lunch with a view!

Cool M.

Yelp
Me and the ol lady rode out there yesterday, if you are on two's coming from Stafford/Fredericksburg area, it is a FANTASTIC ride, was flying colors and no problem or questions. Got the dozen blue crabs (I was skeptical, as I expected small crabs, but was not disappointed at all). Our server was great, the staff were all great. We sat outside by the water, awesome setting on a beautiful day. I love me some blue crabs and they were perfect. Ol lady got the fish platter, the entire meal was unmatched. I wish they had oysters on the half-shell, but I saw they weren't on the menu before we went. All the other patrons were clearly enjoying their meal and the atmosphere, this is a very nice establishment for sure, large bar, interior and outdoor seating. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Athena H.

Yelp
It's a great spot if you want decent seafood without driving too far. The seafood dip was very good and the bread that goes with it was extremely good. The hush puppes were pretty good, too. I had the seafood platter. It wasn't seasoned much so I definitely had to put some Old Bay on everything. The service was good and the food was decent. It's a great local spot to get your quick seafood fix.
google avatar

Lynne S.

Yelp
It is with a heavy heart I must write this review. I wanted SO bad to like this place. I had 2 different people tell me how awesome this place was, so imagine my enthusiasm as I approached the restaurant! We jumped out of the car, eagerly heading to the door to be seated. Once we crossed the threshold to the main dining area, which was in dire need of a remodel, we were acknowledged by the hostesses. No smile, nothing. So I asked to be seated smh We were seated in the main dining room where there were views of the water at pretty much every seat. The weird thing was that the "booths" were these bench-like things that would tip forward if you leaned too much lol So we started with an order of hush puppies, and the "seafood" dip. The hush puppies were very basic (no corn inside) and a bit on the dry side. The "seafood" dip was supposed to be crab and shrimp but we mostly saw tiny shrimp and tiny bits of remnants of crab meat. The bread that came out with the dip was 30 seconds shy of being burned. I imagine someone said, "Hey! Don't forget to get the bread out of the oven!" And the other person said, "Oh crap! Let me grant it now! Hmmm well, it's not burnt!" I also ordered a Caesar salad, which was very basic with no flavor. Afraid to order anything else, we settled for the "Ultimate" something platter which consisted of 6 snow crab clusters and 1 pound of peel and eat shrimp. The clusters were okay, some seemed reheated in the microwave and others seemed steamed and some were meatier than others. The shrimp was decent. Overall, this restaurant was below average at best. I have it 2 stars for the water views and the fact that I did leave with a full tummy. Won't bother to make the trip down there again, unless it's passing this place by.
google avatar

Jae S.

Yelp
These stars are for the seafood/ Crab dip. Although I also had the crabcake sandwich, which was good, I can't get passed the tastyness of the dip with the delicious bread. Mmmm mm! Also our server McKinsey was great as well.
google avatar

LaShawn G.

Yelp
I'm only going to give them 3-stars to start because the crabs they had available were extremely small. They did not have a wide selection to choose from only small/medium all mixed. Now I can say the crabs came out quickly....but the sizes was so ridiculous and hardly had any meat in them to waste my time. I could have eaten 2-3 dozens because some didn't have any meat so I can basically say I only had maybe 8-10 with sole real meat. And some of the crabs were kind of cold so seemed like they just had them ready and warmed them up real quick to get them out. The steamed shrimp were good...but again....mmmhhh they were so small! Like is this a trend at this place everything so damn small? I could have devoured 2-3lbs of this because they were really good. I did have an appetizer of the she crab soup and this was creamy but so tasteless. Had to dump some of the seasoning they had on the table to give it life. But that didn't much help and my friend had to ask to get it warmed up. They finished it I didn't want anymore because it was just not as they say "hitting" like other she crab soups be over has before. The only saving grace was their zombie drink which was put inside the plastic cups. Had 2-of those and they were on point. Now I would give them another chance....but I will have to call ahead to see what sizes they have and get there a little earlier. We did get there kind of late on a Friday night but they allowed us to stay and didn't try to rush us even while they were starting to clean up. Lol. Hopefully next time they will have the bigger sizes and I can see if their crabs compare to my other crab spots.
google avatar

Yelp
Captain Billy's is an institution. It's tucked away on a suburban side road, sits right on the water and gets a nice west facing view across the Potomac. Their menu is a bit limited at present, crabs of course, shrimps and scallops served mostly 'basket style' steamed of fried. I'd love to see some pan seared scallops over pasta or something in the future, but as long as you know what you're getting into going in, you'll likely be happy. I ordered the seafood dip - it reads 'crab dip' mostly but does have a variety including shrimps and comes with a really nice garlic bread. My crab cake sammich (lump) was great. It was HUGE big chunks of crab, not too much filler - one of the better crab cakes you'll get in the area IMO. The side fries were under whelming. I've gotten the crab soup here before, it's good - very creamy, decent amount of crab. I would suggest they do what I see other restaurants moving toward, which is serve the soup base and the crab as a pile on top and let the customer mix it up. Then you can see how much crab you are getting. I find it a bit charming that some of the servers have been there for DECADES. Says mgmt is doing something right!

monke b.

Yelp
Easily the worst restaurant or food i've had in my life the soft shell crab was green the shrimp po boy was actually pretty good the hushpuppys were ok No seasoning on anything eat before you come we ran up a 200 dollar bill for some food i wouldn't even give to my dog service was pretty good despite some unusual comments on the condiments stay far away from soft shell crab I recommend the poboy as it is the safest option

Yelp
My dad and I met a couple of family members at this restaurant in early July around 4:30pm. We were greeted and seated immediately. There is plenty of seating inside and outside on their porch. My family ordered dozen crabs. Small/medium we were only crabs available. I opted for the Boater's Chicken sandwich (grilled chicken breast topped with crab meat, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato) with fries and a pickle. I know, I know - who orders chicken at a crab place? This girl! Unfortunately, the chicken was overcooked and dry. It was really tough to eat. There was quite a bit of crab meat on top though, and the bun was fresh. The fries were delicious. We ordered fries and hush puppies for the table. The fries were crispy and hot. The hush puppies were warm, but the butter was stone cold, which made it hard to spread or dip the hush puppy in. My family enjoyed the crabs so much that they ordered another half dozen before they finally had enough. Overall, we would return. I wouldn't get the chicken sandwich again. Service was decent. Our server had a bit of a playful sarcastic personality, but we rolled with it. She didn't check in on us too often, but did come by to ask if we needed anything and we received those items promptly. Parking is a little tight on the restaurant side of the road. There is parking area across the street.

David S.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Server was not attentive had to flag her down. Other servers we've had have been good building is old. Clean and great food is important. Price is reasonable. We will return

Great place. Crabs cake sandwich is really really good Actually nice on inside Service was great

Yelp
Wife and I took a drive one Sunday and decided to get some seafood we were heading towards laplata and I suggested CB it had been many years since I had been there. It was a nice day out so we are on the back deck, Ordered one of the special with crabs crab legs and shrimp everything was very good.

Dee P.

Yelp
The service was horrible took over 40 mins to get our food then kitchen forgot my sons burgers they prefer to cater to large parties .. also they allow pets outside in the table are which is gross

B L.

Yelp
We got cream of crab soup, corn fritters, crab balls, and a half dozen crabs. The soup was a gloopy gloppy mess. Consistency of pudding, lots of crab, but no flavor. The corn fritters and crab balls were tasty. The crabs were tiny and light and there were only 4 claws in the bunch. Server shrugged when we pointed it out. Slow service. Beautiful view.

Ione L.

Yelp
I went here for a late lunch with friends while visiting Maryland. The place itself is on a very remote patch of land right on the Potomac River. You can see the James Madison Pkwy Bridge while dining indoors and outdoors. The restaurant is huge and has a very open-air flair to it with no real pockets of privacy. If you love seafood this is definitely a place to visit. We had various dishes on our table including the imperial shrimp, fried oysters, hush puppies and a complimentary potato salad thanks to our wonderful and very accommodating server. Big portions and decent flavors made our food very delightful. The bathrooms were not quite the experience I expected especially being a woman. They were small and a bit unkept. All in all, I would definitely patronize this establishment again.

Yelp
Every summer, Captain Billy's is definitely on my list of stops at least once...for some good Maryland Blue Crabs! Also, it has become a "must" stop when headed into Virginia from Maryland on U.S. Route 301. True, it's a few miles off the main road, but worth the detour. Beautiful location on the Potomac River. Riverside seating under a roof is available. Has the feel of a place caught in time, that has been a part of Maryland history for quite a while. Welcoming staff; good food. Whenever I come here, I usually get some variation of crabs...Blue Crabs, Alaskan Crab, Crab cakes....or all of the above! My "go-to" always is the....The Waterman's Seafood Special -- A Half a Dozen Crabs, Four Clusters of Snow Crab legs and a Half Pound of Steamed Shrimp!! Serves the belly and my joyous soul...with a taste of seafood heaven & contentment every time! There is an expansive menu of seafood and American fare, but you really come here for the crabs! To add to the thrill of it, there is an outdoor deck with seating where you can enjoy your food on the water and watch some of the best sunsets on the Potomac. The vibe is casual, come as you are and no frills. From the minute you walk in, it feels a bit like a family-style restaurant meets roadhouse, but it all seems to work together. The ambiance is chill and the decor...there is none....basic....again, no frills. You basically get a wood tables and chairs with paper mats and napkins! lol But, what more do you need other than a mallet, bucket, cold brew....and those "Delicious, Meaty, Crabs?!" I've been here several times now and can say the food is good and at least consistent. In all, good service, average prices, and tasty food! Always check their hours of operations...It changes with the season.

Yelp
Nothing to say about Captain's Billy's except this is a home for seafood lovers!!! You name it they got it, fried, steamed, broiled etc. and everything is flavorful. The appetizers are amazing, the crab dip and the crab bombs are my favorite. We always get the best of both worlds and share, a fried dish and a steamed dish. I leave full and satisfied and with a doggie bag. Be prepared to wait a little for a table Captain Billy's is busy but it is well worth the wait. Just get a drink and sit out on the water. The only reason for 4 Stars and not 5 was due to the appearance of the restroom. We were there at a time when the restaurant was completely packed and the staff was attentive and busy. However, you have to remember to have some monitor the cleanliness of the restrooms. Other than that Bon Appetite!

Yelp
Two words for this place-dirty and greasy :( I came here on a weekend, no wait, sat outside the patio area. Ordered crab legs and my guest ordered the fried shrimp and scallops platter that came with fries and we ordered a side of hush puppies. I chose not to drink but my friend ordered some bucket mixed drink b/c they don't have a full bar. I tasted it and it was the sweetest mixed drink that could ever be made. We sent it back and the 2nd came out even sweeter (a drink that was suppose to be rum-based) Any who, when the food arrived, my crab legs were super salty but manageable and I tasted a shrimp/scallop/fries and they tasted like they were all cooked together. It was all so greasy, I did the napkin test and was grossed out by how much grease & oil I saw. My friend didn't finish the food at all nor the drink. When wrapping up, I used the restroom and was shocked there was no light in this huge restaurant and was very dirty. One part of the bathroom had a small beam that was pretty much on its last voltage. I managed to find what I needed, ran out of there and wash my hands again in their outside sink which is behind some dining tables inside the restaurant. I also saw a young lady grab straws from the top where a person would sip and she placed them in their drinks. Gross. This place needs some major renovations and a call from the health department. 2 stars for the outside patio view.

Yelp
We visited this place on several occasions. The outdoor eating area overlooks the Potomac and is very relaxing. During our most recent visit (Jun 12, 21), we ordered 2 Waterman Specials ($177.45), 2 Corona beers ($8.00), and a Blue Hawaiian ($7.00). Our total bill was $207.62. We were a little taken back by the mandatory gratuity of $30.17. We have no problem tipping 20% or more for exceptional service. However, our server was courteous and adequate at best. We didn't feel like we received $30 of service. We were not provided buckets for shells/peelings, I had to request shells/peelings to be removed after we were done for approx 15 min. Bottom Line...food and venue is top-notch...ensure service reflects mandatory gratuity!!!
google avatar

Beth D.

Yelp
The parking lot was full, so we wondered how long the wait would be, but the place is fairly large, so we had no wait at all. We chose an outside table on the deck since it wasn't overly warm, and we enjoyed dining on the water. Our server, Steph, was busy with a large party inside, so our hostess, Melissa, not only seated us but took our wine order as well as our meal order. The service was great, the food was excellent and the view was gorgeous!

Yelp
Got there on a Sunday evening after a great day of yard work with family. Had a pitcher of beer, crab cakes (Lump crab cake) and the seafood dip. Easily the best crab cake I have ever had.

Yelp
The service was some of the worst I have ever had, and the food wasn't much better. Then adding her tip of 20% to a 4 top, really? There's no reason it takes 45 minutes for a drink order, or 30 minutes just to take the drink order. If there is a way to dispute the charge I will, I wouldn't have left her 1% let alone 20% and I've been in the restaurant business for most of my life.

Yelp
The restaurant was ok. The food was not as delicious as I expected it to be. Not seasoned really well and the crabcake was breaded backfin crabmeat. Drinks were great and reasonably priced. Atmosphere was beautiful, waterside dining. Portions were decent.

Yelp
Love this place. Nothing fancy, sits off the water to provides a nice panoramic view of the water, with both indoor and outdoor seating for dining. This visit I got my fix with MD crabcakes and soft shell crabs which were both cooked just right. I tried the broiled crabcake which was great. Note: Minimal filler is used on platter order as opposed to the a sandwich order. It was so good to actually taste the crab. My meal was completely worth the visit. Overall Yelp rating is not reflective of my postive experience. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Ahoy Captain, I am craving some big tasty steamed crabs. Do you have any ideas where I can find them? Well my dear, why don't you stop on over at Captain Billy's Crab House. So,we took the scenic route and plotted our course to Popes Creek Road in Maryland. Low and behold, some of the tastiest steamed crabs this side of the Bay Bridge. These crabs were huge and priced pretty reasonably. They had some delicious fried onion rings and creamy coleslaw to go along with our crab feast. Service was terrific and as soon as our shell buckets were full, the waitress came over with fresh and clean buckets. The iced tea really hit the spot as we ate our crabs. It is a little ways off the beaten path, but well worth the ride. Thanks Captain, we will be returning soon for more of these big, juicy, and meaty crabs. Save some hush puppies for me!

Yelp
Horrible Service! On a Friday with waitresses standing around we waited almost 20 mins before just leaving. We were sat down at 7pm and left at 720. I even spoke with another customer who said the crabs were small and light. Charging $60 a dozen for empty crabs... will never come back!

Yelp
One of the best crab cakes I've had! The restaurant is right on the water. A no frills crab restaurant with a laid back ambiance.

Yelp
I'm surprised the reviews are not better! I've been to many crab houses and thought this place was fantastic - nothing better than sitting on the patio with a ton of seafood and enjoying a nice day. The wait staff was super friendly and I appreciated how dog friendly it was. The crab cakes were huge with no filler and were perhaps the best crab cakes I've ever had. Definitely worth the trip!
