Cookies are usually good, but they seemed like they were kept in a humidifier this most recent time. They should also consider updating their hours online. I showed up around 10:20 AM, but they wouldn't serve me because apparently they open at 11 AM (it says 10 AM online.)

Google
While the location isn't ideal as there isn't much else around the small "food hall", the cookies are exceptional. With $2/cookie and milk options for a late night treat. They also have a lot of different classic ice cream options to make ice cream cookie sandwiches. Would highly recommend eating here or trying out one of their other locations!

Google
Captain Cookie catered dessert at our wedding in downtown DC- HIGHLY recommend. They were the hit of the party- guests raved, begged for leftover cookies, and loved visiting your truck outside our venue. Service was awesome, friendly, kind and cool. We couldn't have asked for anything better- slam dunk wedding dessert! Thank you

Stopped in to this place bc it was along the way. It’s on the corner and hard to spot but I’m glad I found it. They have several flavors and I loved most of them. The cookies are also cleanly made, the staff is hard at work preparing right in front of you. Guy with the short twists hair was polite and working hard. Follow the reheating instructions posted at the counter. Would pick this over insomniacookies.

Google
Ordered through too good to go and the pick up time was between 11 AM and 9 PM. I got there a little after 8 and the store was closed. The employees were still there and wouldn’t open the door or talk to me. Bad experience. Need to update pick up time.

Google
Wow, wow, wow! We had a visit from Captain Cookie at work and it absolutely made my day. I had an icecream sandwich with a chocolate chip cookie on top, a ginger molasses cookie on the bottom and chocolate icecream set in between the two. The cookies were freshly baked and the icecream was so smooth, rich and creamy. What a treat - hope they’ll make another visit soon!

Google
This ice cream place has less flavor options than you can typically fine but the taste of the options are excellent, so it is definitely quality over quantity. The cookies are soft and pair well with the ice cream. A great place for a nice treat.

Looks as I'm the first to give a review. I ordered from the Uber eats app, looks that there's one located in NE, and another located in NW.... Uber eats show NE. Found my new favorite addiction 😎 Organic ice cream 🤩🤩🤩

Yelp
Quick stop to pick up some cookies from too good to go. I was not aware it was in a food hall. There were a couple other businesses there but I only got cookies.

Yelp
You have GOT to come here and try their cookies...easily the best in DC! It's tucked away in a pseudo residential area but worth the trip. The cookies are SO fresh and delicious . Service is friendly. I've come here multiple times and will be back for more before Christmas hits...it's that good!! Bought a bakers dozen...ate half before nightfall. Took a picture before they all were gone.

Yelp
First of all, I'd like to address how awesome the name of the establishment is, gave us all a good chuckle! I got an ice cream sandwich, peanut butter cookies and cookie dough ice cream. As well as a small tub of the salted caramel edible cookie dough. Both were pretty good, I enjoyed the cookie dough more than the ice cream sandwich. It wasn't anything exceptional, but it's still a nice place with a cute location to stop for a snack!

Yelp
I literally just came from ten minutes ago and seen a huge rat run across the floor and the employee had the audacity to to make a comment saying "have you never seen a rat before" like was in the wrong . I just brought my ice cream and left I felt like I had no other choice . If you come at night, you'll see exactly what seen with the rats issue.

Yelp
After my last review, the manager instantly reached out and offered me a refund and another 6 cookies. It was really friendly and I appreciated it a lot. I decided this time to try 4 other flavor of cookies with my roommates, however, it is sad to say we were let down. I feel like this location is not a reflection of Captain Cookies as I know they can do better. Ginger-Molasses- This one was the best out of the bunch. The flavor of the spices were prominent and balances well between crispy and chewy. Would get again. Very high 4/5. Pumpkin walnut cookie of the day- My roommate described this as playdough. You can taste the pumpkin but the walnut was the only thing that felt real about it. It is a mix between a muffin and a cookie but this was inedible and I did not go in for a second bite. 1/5 Snickerdoodle cookie-I liked the flavor of this cookie. It had a good amount of cinnamon but the texture was off like it had been sitting out for a while. 2/5 Peanut butter- I can't tell what it was but some ingredient in there was off or rotten. The texture was dry and crumbly which is just abnormal for peanut butter and it didn't have enough of the peanut butter in it. 1/5. The staff were really nice and it feels bad to have to review it like this again but I think they may need to reasses their cookies. I'd recommend maybe the Eastern Market location because they seemed to taste better when I went there...

Yelp
Nasty nasty nasty I'm all about supporting small businesses and eating good food so I decided to try this captain cookie place after passing by this building on my way to my children's school and what a big fail I must say my son and I brought a half a dozen of cookies 2funfetti 1 oatmeal 1 chocolate chip 2 snickerdoodles and all of them were oddly shaped and the taste was gross I shared them with my children and they said they were gross too so it wasn't just my taste buds but it's the recipe that need to be changed I wouldn't recommend these cookies to anyone not even my dog

Yelp
These cookies are SO GOOD and way less expensive than really any cookies elsewhere in the city. They are soft, big, chewy. They also do ice cream sandwiches and milkshakes. I usually get them there but have gotten them and an ice cream sandwich delivered once and it was just as tasty.

Yelp
Eh. I wanted cookies and saw this place had a variety so I decided to get a half dozen order to try them out. I ordered online and the next available time they had for pickup was 2 hours later. I went about a half hour early to get them and they all were ready but not packaged. I thought that was odd for an order that was already paid for but what do I know. I, literally, pinched one tiny piece from each just to see what was what. The Order (1) Chocolate Chip: the best one in the box and the chips, specifically, helped make it work. That's not saying much because I'm not a huge fan of chocolate. (1) Double Chocolate Chip: the worst one in the bunch, to me. It tasted dry. Yes, it tasted what I think "dry" would be like if it were a flavor. (1) Oatmeal Raisin: I think this was ok. The major problem with that statement is the fact that OR is my favorite cookie flavor and I can't recollect the bite experience. (2) Peanut Butter: this was very disappointing. PB is up there with OR for me so I was excited. It wasn't peanut buttery enough for me and it didn't seem fully baked. (1) Snickerdoodle: the sugar sprinkled on top was good. I'm not a fan of milk but maybe that's what makes these cookies taste better. I tossed them so I guess I'll never know.

Yelp
Yum, yum, yummy yum yum. One of my good friends lives just a few blocks from this Captain Cookie location inside of Tastemakers, and I envy her. However, it is probably better for my waistline that I have to drive across town to enjoy this deliciousness. If you don't know, at Captain Cookie you can get: 1) cookies (my favorite in all of DC) 2) ice cream (Trickling Springs!!!) 3) Ice cream sandwiches Unless you aren't really hungry, then the only correct thing to order here is an ice cream sandwich. For $6, you get two fresh cookies (regular chocolate chip is hands down the best) with a very generous scoop of ice cream. You can even split your ice cream between a couple of flavors! (This makes splitting one much more palatable idea to my children who often want different flavors). I've only ever eaten one ice cream sandwich solo before and this is definitely something meant to share. Grab a punch card while you are here - buy ten cookies, get one free!

Yelp
The end is nigh (maybe) for this location. I do have some fond memories of sitting outside Trohv in Takoma, chomping down on a massive ice cream cookie Sammy I purchased from the Cookie van. Those days are gone. The Brookland location has always been somewhat of an eye sore. I mean, come on, hire an interior decorator. This is DC. But I think the real problem is the fallout from the Trickling Springs disaster (google it). The cookie man used trickling cream as it's ice cream base (at least that's my understanding). And now Trickling is gone and the cookie mans ice cream, quite frankly, doesn't taste like much of anything. What a bummer. I hope they can reignite the fire. Otherwise, it's Jenny's and nice cream for this guy.

Yelp
Got this delivered via uber eats since I needed something sweet but was too tired to leave my couch after the long work day. I ordered an icecream sandwich (basic-- vanilla between two chocolate chip cookies) and some of the cookies n cream flavored cookie dough. The icecream was amazing. It was light and refreshing but still sweet. The cookie was a bit too sweet for my taste, but my roommate loved it. The cookie dough was decent but nowhere near the level of the icecream sandwich. My only real complaint is that they don't have enough options ice cream sandwich wise. I would've loved to have gotten to mix up my sandwich with a funky icecream flavor but really just didn't get the chance to. hopefully this is something they'll add to their menu in the future.

Yelp
The Captain Cookie Food Truck was amazing! We reserved this food truck for a company event. The "Milk Man" who was serving the Ice Cream Sandwiches to our employees was SUPER nice and friendly AND he even gave us the leftover cookies which we appreciated. When we emailed the company to reserve this truck it was super simple and the staff was great! Their response time was super quick and they were really nice too! On top of their excellent service their Ice Cream Sandwiches were AMAZING! All of our employees loved the dessert. The cookies were soft, big, and chewy and the ice cream was awesome! We would definitely book this food truck again. However, I wish they did not over book themselves in a day and have to rush to another event. But, we understand they want/need to be at as many events as possible.

Yelp
Apparently the ice cream cookie sandwich is world famous here. Yes, it was very enjoyable, but I think using the phrase "world famous" is a little bit too grand. If I go to China, Chad, Cambodia, or Croatia, I don't think anyone will know of Captain Cookie and the Milk Man. Maybe it is Brookland famous, but that's about it. Choose two cookies, your ice cream, and there is your ice cream sandwich. I got the sugar cookie and chocolate chip cookie with cookies'n'cream ice cream. Hopefully I didn't get diabetes after eating it. While it was good, I'm sure I could get that dessert in many different places.

Yelp
We stopped by on a hot Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the delicious ice cream in the park across the street! My daughter loved her sprinkles! I had the coffee flavor, which was amazing. Victoria was super nice and helped check ingredients with my food allergies.

Yelp
I REALLY wanted to LOVE this place, but it simply did not live up to the hype. I am a huge sugar/sucrose junkie, and I know how to enjoy a bomb cookie paired some amazing ice cream. Really, how can you have a disappointing dessert when you have two incredible desserts put together?! I decided to head to this location (inside Tastemakers located in Northeast DC) since it is much closer to me than the Pennsylvania Ave store. When you walk into Tastemakers food hall, there are just a few food vendors & Captain Cookie and the Milk Man is right by the entrance. I was excited they still offered a full menu of cookies and ice cream flavors -- but I already knew I wanted to go for a fun-fetti cookie and snickerdoodle cookie with butter pecan ice cream. Upon devouring my ice cream cookie sandwich, I just thought it was okay.. It just reminded me of the ice cream cookie sandwiches you can buy in the frozen section of a grocery store (or at a convenience store). There was nothing remarkable about the cookies or the ice cream in my opinion.. BUT for $5 and as a fast-served cold dessert, it did the job of satisfying my sugar cravings and being extremely filling. I don't think this is something I would ever "crave" or is amazing enough to go out of my way for, but if there was a food truck by me or I happened to be in the neighborhood, I would probably stop by for a quick treat.

Yelp
I've loved their cookies since the first time I had them off their truck. Love how you can get a cookie ice cream sandwich on a hot day. Their store front is awesome especially it's open late. Highly recommend and will continue to return. So yummy!

Yelp
UPDATED: The manager contacted me after my disappointing order and refunded our money. 5 stars for customer service! I'm going to improve rating because I believe great customer service is HUGE when it comes to small businesses. Thank you! The ice cream cookie was so stale that it couldn't be eaten; it was literally rock hard. We ordered via the Grubhub app - my sister ordered a cookie dough jar, but they delivered monster cookie dough, and she hates M&Ms so that was unfortunate. The other cookies we ordered were good. Sadly, the entire situation was disappointing.

Yelp
Was a huge fan of the captain , originally found them at truckeroo a few years back and frequented the Penn Ave location ever since. I live closer to this location now and I hate to say it's not the same. Ice cream for the first time ever tasted like nothing and like it was thawed and refrozen. The cookies were not good as well (stale). The cashier couldn't wait to get us out of there even though transactions take all of 2 mins lol . I will never visit this location again. Still a fan of the business though. This location should be renamed Private cookie because this was not the Captain

Yelp
Victoria was so helpful in figuring out our selection and so sweet! Great ice cream and cookies!

Yelp
I have always liked captain cookie (or cookie man as we call it in my house). I had some for the first time since Trickling Springs went out of business. Sadly, the ice cream was such a disappointment. Truckling Springs had that buttery rich creaminess. This new ice cream was so bland. My husband got an espresso flavor and it was really bitter. I hope the owners read this and consider a new creamery. Maybe Thomas Sweet or Kilwins or some equally rich ice cream.

Yelp
stopped by the Brookland location today Saturday, 8/24 at approximately 3:56pm and had the most deplorable service that I've received in a while. I wanted to take a moment to educate you on some of the things your staff is doing and how your brand is currently being represented out in the world. I want to start by saying I LOVE the cookies. I think they are some of the best in the city. I've gotten them for my office before, every one raves about them. Which makes it even more disheartening that the customer service from the staff at the Brookland location is so piss poor. The incident: I walked in to the location and saw two staff. One was washing dishes, the other was making cookies with his headphones on. The person washing dishes motioned to his colleague making cookies that he had a customer a few times. When that didn't work he started saying "Hey, you have a customer" to the guy with the headphones on. He obviously didn't hear him b/c his music was on, so he repeated hisself 3 times and started motioning and the guy finally noticed him and turns around and says to me "Give me one second" and he continues to do make cookies for another 60-70 seconds. He finally turns around to take my order when he realizes another customer has come in with 2 children. At that point, the guy washing dishes and I look at each other in shock. The person making cookies says to me "what would you like" I tell him and he gives me my cookies and instead of checking me out, he decides to take customers behind me order and proceed to make their cookie sandwiches while I wait to be checked out. Question: I've worked in the food industry before and I thought it was customary to deal with one customer at a time. Not take 3 peoples order who aren't together and check them all out at the same time. Is that a company policy? I've never seen that done before. When I realized he was going to make 3 ice cream sandwiches, I asked if he could check me out first (since I wasn't with them and I had already been waiting) and he told me "Hold on, Im taking care of them."

Melissa F.

Yelp
These cookies are all your childhood memories wrapped into a bite! Thanks Victoria for being so nice and patient with these newbies!

J J.

Yelp
This place is so hit or miss. Sometimes my cookies are fresh and other times like today they are rock hard. Sometimes they have the ice cream I want and others they don't. Also lacking is a sense of friendliness from the girl that is usually working there.

Timothy E.

Yelp
Love these cookies! Chocolate chip and snickerdoodle are my top choices.

Lahla A.

Yelp
This location is amazing I go here almost everyday after a long day of work. I have visited all three locations in dc and this one is by far the best one. The best thing about this location is the staff. Very friendly, quick and personable. They are really good here compared to the location in eastern market which I left a review on previously on Google. Victoria and I'm not sure what the Mans name who works at night but they are GREAT. They make sure I'm well taken care of when I come and remember my order and name and make me feel special. Not sure what can be done for those two but they are GREAT which is a under statement. Also it would be best to look into your store staff at the eastern market location as I did not feel welcomed there--I left a detailed review about my experience on Google. Thanks!

Maria C.

Yelp
Amazing shakes and service for a good price! Victoria did an amazing job! Would come here again

Al S.

Yelp
I was going to take a picture but I ate it so quickly I forgot... by far the best ice cream and cookie I've ever had!!! Thank you so much.

Drew C.

Yelp
Couldn't think of anything I disliked. Right around the corner and hope they stay! - 7 good sized cookies for $6 - Soft - Not too sweet (crucial for me as I used to be an Insomnia Cookies junkie, but they slowly became way too sweet) - - Good flavor Had the ginger molasses, snickerdoodle, choclate chip, and peanut butter. All were to my liking

Preeya S.

Yelp
Came with a friend, it seemed like a really cute concept and we wanted to try it out. We got the cookie sandwich with chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream. The cookie was pretty good had a nice crunch to it and moist at the same time. Good portions as well. However the ice cream was nothing really great tasted like you're average ice cream. Overall an average dessert but cool experience.
