"Santa Barbara is known more as a beach-and-winery town than a hike-and-brewery town. But with great trails, and breweries like Topa Topa and Modern Times both opening recently, that should change. For a SB born-and-bred option, check out Captain Fatty’s, just up PCH in Goleta. It’s in an open-air industrial space, with plenty of room for social distancing if you’re choosing to drink there. As for the hike - head to Rattlesnake Trail. Make sure you bring water, since this one is pretty steep - but you’re rewarded with excellent views of town, and an awesome waterfall." - brett keating

Beer review This brewery is dog friendly and you can bring your own food. I have been here 4 times now in the past year, and their hazy IPA (different one each time) is absolutely delicious. Very creamy, hoppy, and juicy. It is one of my favorite breweries for hazy. Definitely will come visit Everytime in in town.

My husband and I really enjoyed our first visit here. The bartenders were really nice and welcomed us. The beer selection is great - they have all kinds of different beers. There’s definitely a favorite for everyone. I really enjoyed their own brewed Kölsch. We highly recommend a visit

A very pleasant brewery, clean, and with tasty beer. The bartender is very friendly and welcoming. I especially enjoyed the Calypso and Backstreet Boysenberries beer varieties. I highly recommend visiting!

We have been here several times when we visit Santa Barbara. I am not a beer drinker but my husband & in-laws are. The ambiance is nice and they have pizza. We went last Sunday late afternoon and the placed was packed. It’s the first time we have been where there is a band and a party. The band was super loud and glad the brewery had outdoor seating & available seats. My granddaughter was with us and they had games like jenga to keep her and us occupied. I wish that they had more options for non-beer drinkers.

Google
Cute brewery with plenty of beer options, along with a few seltzers. Everything was good. 4 stars as the outdoor seating is a bit dated and upkeep is needed. Friendly staff. Not a lot of parking options.

Loved the large interior industrial space and the front and back outdoor patios. Good variety of craft brews served with a smile.

We always enjoy our time at Captain Fatty’s. Great atmosphere, great people, brewista crew is awesome, beverages are fantastic, and they have some great food options as well. Dog friendly, kid friendly and lots of room to gather for any occasion.

#RAWFotografia #LocalGuides I should remember to write down names, the two gentleman running the brewery were spectacular. One was named Jimmy? They were funny, engaging, and very knowledgeable, not only about their own beer, but beers from other places as well. Their pride in the product really shone through, they were engaging hosts. the place seems to be located in an industrial business area, which lends to the uniqueness of this place. They have a huge television that they can find almost any show in for you, and plenty of seating for the large quantities of people this place attracts. It is easy to see why so many people seem familiar with the place, if we lived a little closer we would visit here often!

Yelp
Good tunes and perfect flight for a post-soccer/pickleball workout. Ondas - nice dry finish on an amber Mexican lager Chisme - very light and refreshing Mexican lager Red Setter - smooth finish and a little smoky Calypso- cucumber flavor is strong and very sour (Great American Brew Fest silver medal in 2022) Soda Shoppe - less sour but more fruity than calypso

Yelp
Visiting from FL.... It is rainy here. Grateful for a hazy IPA rainy day pour for $5. Excellent gender neutral accessible bathrooms.

Yelp
Very fun! Met a group of friends for trivia, and had a blast! Nice indoor space, and service is fine! Some friends ordered pizza, which was good, and the beer was great. Will definitely go again for more trivia nights. We were there last weekend and unfortunately there was a whole wedding party there. It obviously wasn't the staff's fault, but i did mean we didn't have access to a large majority of the indoor space, and we had to wait over an hour for a pizza (i feel quite bad for the food staff who had to out of nowhere basically cater a wedding! Crazy!) but on regular nights, all is well.

Yelp
The Goleta taproom is a hidden gem for locals to hangout just off the 101 freeway. Nice indoor and outdoor seating with good service. Excellent selection of craft beer and in addition to lager and IPAs they also had Schwarzbier and a Barleywine beer. I love stronger ales and I jump at the chance to get a Barleywine beer which are kind of rare. The Heavy Gravity did not disappoint with excellent flavors that intensify with every sip. Will be back for more!

Yelp
Stopped in for a beer with a buddy and ended up at Captain Fatty's 9 year anniversary party. They had several food vendors on site and pouring the same great Captain Fatty's beer! They had a couple specialty beers on tap as well, including a Horchata lager. The staff was definitely busy but they did an awesome job serving the customers in a timely fashion!

Yelp
We went to Captain Fatty's for the first time on Cinco De Mayo. It was a great place and the micheladas we had were so good. The sign said there would be a food truck but there wasn't one when we were there. Definitely liked the vibe and any place that has tabletop shuffle board is okey dokey in my book. Great beer selection to choose from.

Raymundo I.

Yelp
Best brewery in town. Their hazy ipa slaps. Doggo friendly let's go. Always a good vibe. Been coming here since they were in that OG location across the parking lot. Yo they served up some absolute fire at fields of funk 2023. Whatever that hazy ipa was holy fack, still think about it from time to time. Idk if that was the mirage as there was the slightest pink tint to the one at fields of funk. Literally still think about that beer. It was blissful. Captain Fattys you a real one Much love Humbly yours Raymundo

Yelp
Awesome brewery! Kid and dog friendly :) would love to see more of a "kid zone" but works for now. Great staff!

Yelp
It's true that sometimes we forget about the businesses literally right in our backyard. I live within five minutes of Captain Fatty's Brewery, yet had not been back in roughy 4 years. Why?! Well, I'm not a beer drinker. When my sister and her friend were planning to grab the pop-up Santa Barbara Woodfire Pizza for dinner, I tagged along...and am so glad I did! Captain Fatty's has a wonderful space and is a popular locals space within an industrial warehouse off the 101 in Goleta. Stepping inside, you truly wouldn't know what you're missing out on. You're immediately transported into our attempt at a Portlandia hipster vibe. Hanging vines and exposed filament string light bulbs, barrels of fermenting beer, neon signs and two separate outdoor patios with heat lamps. Of course they have a wide selection of beers on taps (sours, ambers, lagers, IPA, pilsner, you name it!), but for us non-beer drinkers they had a seltzer and grisette (new to me but is botanical sage and meyer lemon aged for six months in gamay barrels! How unique!). Both were delectable and paired perfectly with the pizza. I truly love that they collaborate not only with local businesses for food trucks/pop-ups, creative beverages (i.e. neighboring Samsara for their sour) and local musicians. So as they say, bring your friends, furry friends and kids here to "Anchor Down!"

Yelp
If you haven't tried Captain Fatty's then you simply must check it out! If you are a beer fan then you are in for a treat and they have some good eats too! This week my girlfriend Imo and I got to see some of our favorite people since they live in Maryland and were visiting for the weekend! We had a great time catching up and seeing friends as well as soaking in the amazing place that is Captain Fatty's. Captain Fatty's is a little tucked away in the business center they are located in and that makes it feel even more of a hidden gem. The inside was decorated for St. Patrick's already with shamrocks everywhere and whoever was on aux.... excellent choices were being played! If you are a beer person, then they have a lot of great choices to sample and enjoy. I am a fan of their porters and stouts normally, but this time I went with a Calypso Cucumber Sour and really enjoyed the flavor! They also have some good eats like pizza that you can get in house which always pairs well with a great choice in beer. If you are not a fan of beer, they also have wine and seltzer options as well! If you are gonna check it out, parking can be a challenge sometimes so definitely try to carpool or even Lyft/Uber to enjoy more of their options! They also have indoor and outdoor seating as well. Overall loved our outing to Captain Fatty's and will definitely have to come more often to enjoy the amazing service from the staff and great hangout with friends.

Yelp
Had the privilege to visit last month for a bachelorette. This place was so fun. Good atmosphere. Inside outside seats. Games, art and of course beer. No food when we were there but there were a few snacks for purchase . The beer tenders were super nice and knowledgeable. Good variety of beers and seltzer. Would definitely return!

Yelp
I found this little Diamond by happenstance. I was recently visiting a business in the same plaza and boy am I glad to have gotten a two for one find! You will not be disappointed on your next stop in. Tucked into a quiet plaza in Goleta, you'll find this brewery. You'll enter via fun foyer to find the spacious brewery behind. They primarily carry IPAs and other light beers. The owner helped us and he was amazing. He gave us several tasters and walked us through his products. My husband prefers more light or fruit beers than I do and he felt this was a good find for such. The beers also had a nice finish and were very easy to drink. The atmosphere was good, very hang in your adult 30s with friends vibe. They also have food! They offer pizzas in the back where you can access outside seating. As well as they offer local and brought in fresh daily burritos. So, you can make a day or night out of your visit. See website for hours, location and more. There is plenty of parking in the plazas.

Tammra S.

Yelp
Cute brewery with plenty of beer options, along with a few seltzers. Everything was good. 4 stars as the outdoor seating is a bit dated and upkeep is needed. Friendly staff. Not a lot of parking options.

Yelp
My friend is showing me around her town. When she heard that I love sours, she knew she had to take me here! They have 3 options for sours and loads of other varieties. I landed on "Good Vibrations", which has guava and mango in it! Yum! They also have a cucumber one, which sounds fun to try. My friend got a flight with Good Vibrations, Soda Shoppe (another sour), Ondas, Generations, and 20,000 Leagues. I tried the Soda Shoppe one, which was delicious with strong notes of cherry without being overly tart. That one ended up being her favorite. She really didn't like Generations as she said the flavor was too concentrated and there's no way she could drink an entire glass of it. It's very syrupy with very little carbonation. They were pretty busy when we went, but we luckily grabbed a 2 seater outside. Pretty much all the seating is stools without any back support, which is a bummer. They do have heat lamps and a tent outside. It's also super dog friendly both inside and out. It looks like they might serve some food, but you can also bring your own food which is what we did.

Yelp
Still my "happy-place" in Goleta. And even during these Covid times, Captain Fatty's has done everything possible to maintain a safe place for all us fans. And whether zooming in to pick up daily inspirations, or hanging out with friends, there is always something delicious for everyone. And not just beer, also BBQ and pizza with @santabarbarawoodfire Thanks Evan and staff for taking care of us on site, and for also inspiring us pretty much every day on Instagram, which has been a great way to keep in touch and find out about the latest happenings @captainfattys Still a big fan of their "The Truth, Hazy IPA, and our go-to "Chisme," Mexican-style Lager, and now our new favorite is their "Lekker Bru," Hazy IPA. They promised huge mango and guava flavors with this one, and they are spot on. And so much more going on in each can as it's packed with South African-grown hops. And something you need to keep ready in the fridge, their Snappa Seltzer. Either Lemon Lime or Grapefruit, always delightfully crisp, bubbly, and refreshing.

C. Jay O.

Yelp
Pretty good beer. I must have gone on a day when no one knew any of the hops in the beer. Think we asked three people and no one has an answer. So I went on IG to figure it out. Why didn't they offer to get that info? Either way, the vibe is solid and they have a pizza truck in the back on most days.

Illean C.

Yelp
Great beer! Recently opened a beer garden in Paseo Nuevo. Sip and shop! Beautiful center stage location in the center of the mall. Great place to cool down and people watch! Highly recommend!!!

Jenn M.

Yelp
YUM...just released Snappa Hard Seltzer, Grapefruit flavor. It is crisp and has none of the strange metal taste of other hard seltzers. The grapefruit flavor is authentic without being cloying or overpowering. This is way better than the larger brands offerings. This is available to go.

Yelp
Came here for the first time very recently. The outdoor patio was popping. I personally felt Covid-safe, however it might have seemed less so if my triad hadn't been able to find an empty corner. We had two rounds of beers, and our bartender was friendly and happy to provide samples and chat about flavors. I ordered the Chisme for my first drink, and an IPA (forget which, since I sampled them all!) for #2. Here's why four stars instead of five: I'm nonbinary, and was even wearing a t-shit which says that. At the bar with my two queer cis women friends, the bartender's first words were, "hey ladies." I corrected him and told him not to make assumptions about people's genders and pronouns based on how they look, and he listened and was apologetic. So that's all good, but being misgendered in the first place made the whole guest experience one star less welcoming. On the bright side, the place has the bathroom situation figured out. As Yelp's helpful "Amenities and More" section lists, there are gender-neutral restrooms. Two clean, functional bathrooms allow all customers to feel comfortable using the facilities (unlike M Special--who need to get their s**t together, literally.) The place is very doggo friendly; there were tons of pooches having a patio party. Also, the pop-up pizza was on point, and though they forgot the arugula on both pizzas my group ordered, they were totally willing to make a half-cheeseless pie so my non-vegan friend and I could share. A solid four stars for Captain Fatty's.

Francesca P.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour with some colleagues for an after work social event. We chose this spot because it had a food vendor and we knew everyone would be hungry after a long day at work. This particular Friday they had a wood fired pizza vendor. We all tried different pizzas which were decent, but they ran out of some of the pizzas and our group got the last few. I feel like this is a good space for large groups due to the spacious layout and different types of seating. It does have a sports bar vibe with tons of large tv screens everywhere. We were able to find a large table for our group despite the somewhat crowded Thursday night. They had a nice selection of beers, and considering I don't really drink beer, the one I ordered was fine. I'd come back here again for another social gathering.

Tony H.

Yelp
Pretty awesome brewery with some great beers. The center seating area of the brewery has bar seating, and high stools table seats, behind that area they have picnic style bench seating, & towards the back they have a few couches where you can lounge and relax. They have a foosball table, board games, and about 3-4 TVs here. They have to go canned beer that you can walk in a buy. Overall Captain Fattys is a cool spot to have a few beers and chill for a while.

Amanda K.

Yelp
The vibes were good, the beer was on point and the place was poppin! They even sell food in the back which just happens to be some suuuuuper fire pizza from SB Woodfire Catering. We got "The Goat" pizza and it was the perfect balance of sweet, savory, creamy and salty - will def be thinking about her often :') I love when breweries have games and they had a bunch near the entrance. I got the Salutation Belgian Dubbel which was a nice 7.6% but tasted surprisingly light, similarly to a Saison type beer. We also got the Ondas Ambarinas which was 5.5% but was smooth then a bit sharper at the end, also pretty good. Overall solid place would definitely recommend!

Jhon B.

Yelp
The beer selection is neat, they have the "how they poor it like in UK style on tap" and the bartenders make solid selections and descriptions on the items. i got water from the back area with the gatorade container HOWEVER, They had a white tent with these really cool folks who make AMAZING PIZZA. i got the vegetarian of course but the husband came out and went about talking about the fresh muscles and salmon creations he would whip up just for me.... THAT WAS AWSOME REALLY COOL AND NICE! they brought my pizza and then brought a huge dog treat for the dog i brought in! WOW!

Abbey F.

Yelp
This new location is awesome!! Same great beer but so much more space. AND ONE OF THE BATHROOMS PLAYS AFRICA BY TOTO ON REPEAT!!!! Dog friendly so no need to leave the kids at home. Oh and kid friendly too. I've never been a big fan of sour beers but the calypso and the guavanator knocked my socks off. They've got some great Axxess deals too. Buy one get one pints and deals on growler fills too. I hear they usually have wood fired pizzas which are fantastic and I loved the great tunes from Dante Elephante for Vinyl Thursday!!

Dare H.

Yelp
Hidden away in the smallest industrial park in the area, around the corner from the CHP, this less than ideally situated brewery looks a bit like a shanty town. However, when you get around the plastic - which is almost a necessary feature in this COVID era - you'll find a wonderful little brewery with friendly service and a low-key Goleta vibe. Most importantly, you'll find outstanding brew. In my mind, the beer is the best of the growing number of local brewers. On Veterans Day, my wife and I came by and enjoyed a couple cold "The Truth" beers. Sparing you the puns, I can simply assure you that it was quite possibly the best beer I've ever had - and I can also assure you I've had plenty of beers in my time. It's a hazy IPA with a lovely tropical taste and if it wasn't $24 for a four-pack of pints, my fridge would be well-stocked. In the past, I've sampled many of their other beers and "The Blue" is also one of my favorites. It did look like they were setting up food as well, which would make this an ideal spot for a meal to accompany your beers. Captain Fatty's is a great spot.

Martha d.

Yelp
I didn't realize how popular this place was! I came on a Friday night and I was surprised to see so many people here. Loved my drink (I think I got a boysenberry type drink) and i liked that the crowd seemed like a mix between college students and locals. Might check it out again just get a better opinion of this place.

Gracie G.

Yelp
It was raining and it was Sunday Funday, so I decided to order Captain Fatty's Special: six pack of beer + SB Woodfire pizza for only $25. I ordered the Snappa Seltzer Grapefruit as my six pack. They were so light & refreshing. They're kind of dangerous. They taste so good you forget they have alcohol. I can't wait to get more of these for a Sunday Funday beach day! The pizza hit the spot too. I reheated it a little, since I didnt eat it right away. It was nice and crispy and a great compliment to a farm to table salad I prepared.

Michaela N.

Yelp
Trivia night was great! The room was full when we arrived but we were able to squeeze into a table for the 6 of us. I got the cucumber beer (forgot the name) and it was very good. Cider-like which is a plus for me! Lots of people but not a long wait at the bar. Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks and there was lots of variety. Shared a pizza from the truck outside with my boyfriend. They ran out of basil If I remember correctly. Pizza was good, I've had it once before. Nothing to write home about but if I were drinking there all night it'd be a great munchie. Only complaint - kinda overpriced. But I know it's a separate business from Captain Fattys. Kind of in an awkward spot, right before the los carneros roundabout. I always feel like I'm about to get rear-ended when I pull into the parking lot. I'll definitely come back, and I'd love to come on a night when they have tacos.

Kamron H.

Yelp
They have great beer, great food, at all a reasonable price. The staff is chill and they have a big screen tv. They're also dog friendly too. I'd come here again when I'm back in town.

Lucy W. H.

Yelp
So much fun to sit and spend a leisurely weekend day. Pizza pop up cinched the deal. Love the spur there. You can play shuffleboard as you sip life to the fullest.

Catherine H.

Yelp
We have been here several times when we visit Santa Barbara. I am not a beer drinker but my husband & in-laws are. The ambiance is nice and they have pizza. We went last Sunday late afternoon and the placed was packed. It's the first time we have been where there is a band and a party. The band was super loud and glad the brewery had outdoor seating & available seats. My granddaughter was with us and they had games like jenga to keep her and us occupied. I wish that they had more options for non-beer drinkers.

Jordan B.

Yelp
Captain fattys is the Captain of all small batch breweries in Santa Barbara and CA for that matter. I have not tried one of their beers I didn't enjoy. The Chisme Pilsner has been my first mate for years, and their seltzers are smooth sailing as well. They always have some great food options and some good live music as well. Bartenders and owner are always friendly as well. Do yourself a favor and anchor down at Fattys

Eric G.

Yelp
Nice little brewery off the beaten path. Though the location is fairly hidden from the road, this brewery is still very popular and is full of customers each time I visit. As it does tend to get busy at times, I try to come during off hours (before 5pm during the week). The dining room was recently moved to a larger suite in the same business plaza and is so nice and spacious with its own bathrooms - something that the old spot didn't have. There are plenty of places to sit both inside and out. The parking situation is kind of awkward so I'd recommend parking around on the outer perimeter of the plaza. There are a great variety of beers on tap and I've tried a few. I'm a fan of the Vortex IPA as well as the 20,000 Leagues nitro stout. Very refreshing on a warm afternoon. I look forward to coming back soon.

Claudio D.

Yelp
Fantastic selection and usual beers. I really enjoyed the black ipa. We will be back when we visit the area again. The food truck was fabulous.

Tony M.

Yelp
Booyah! Wow Capn' Fattys has upped their game in a very serious way. Not only have they majorly upgraded their tasting room (by making a new one now just a few yards away from the old one but miles ahead in style) Beyond that though, there's a noticeable increase in the quality of beer being produced. Maybe it's the natural maturation of a brewery but whatever it is , it's awesome and we like it! As usual it's very dog and kid friendly and there are now bathrooms right inside the facility. So far there doesn't seem to be any outdoor patio space but there's so much space inside it really doesn't matter. Bottom line is, Fatty's is killing it with their new rooms. Check it out. You won't be disappointed

Wuxian W.

Yelp
pretty good, standard craft brewery stuff !! the space is freaking awesome, it's great for a college town & hanging out n such. it's a large space is what i'm getting at, and the ambiance is nice !! the staff is also super nice & accommodating with samples when you don't know what to order (granted, this was pre-covid... also don't abuse that kindness just to drink morebeer lol!!)

Mary B.

Yelp
Great vibe, great oysters, standout brews include Vortex, Zuma Gris Gris, Blue and more!

Annaliese M.

Yelp
Captain Fatty's is in my top two favorite breweries in South County! They consistently have excellent beers on tap, especially a strong slate of sours. I've really enjoyed Good Vibrations, Soda Shoppe, and Berries and Chill recently. The Ondas was also really good this past time I went. The staff is very friendly, and I love the casual, community feel of the brewery. The only beer I've been less than impressed with lately is the Generations - it was too syrupy and the flavor was a little too concentrated. But overall a great place for great beers and a fun time with friends!

Jessica N.

Yelp
The location is interesting, I missed it the first time I was looking for it. Coming from Calle Real, you have to enter and pass the CHP parking (a little intimidating) to the back buildings to find Captain Fatty's. Once there, parking seems hit or miss. We got a spot because someone was leaving, but the lot was pretty full. Once you go in, they have seats by the bar, small round tables, and a section with long bench tables. The place has a very modern feel to it with televisions, music, and bright lights everywhere. It can get pretty loud with the music and everyone trying to talk to one another. The bartenders all seemed very friendly and we had no problem ordering. People seems to be really into the sours but personally, I prefer the IPAs so that's what I went with. The beers were pretty delicious. We originally went in for one beer and ended up ordering more because we wanted to try more (we were only in town for the day so we knew it'd be a while before we came back). A lot of people had dogs on leashes with them so it almost felt like a restaurant in LA, except they don't serve food. They do have food trucks though, if you get hungry. Their bathrooms are also very clean. That's a major plus. I can see myself falling in love with Captain Fatty's. I think the only negative is that it can get pretty loud. Maybe coming in earlier has a more chill vibe.

Shannon N.

Yelp
Captain Fatty's is fun! When I was there, the Mexican food truck was outstanding, with huge piles of food. There's a great lively energy to the bar for some reason - because it's so open and you can hear everything, I think. The beers are delicious and they have a nice lil canned non-alcoholic selection for your dd. We brought our dog, who's smol, and she was a little overwhelmed by the openness, sounds, and presence of several other dogs who could be heard but not seen. But she chilled out after a few minutes. So it worked for us but may not be the best bar for a higher-strung pooch.

Zach R.

Yelp
Good beer and brewery with friendly staff. Five stars are for the outdoor food vendor- wood fired pizza and mussels and oysters from local waters. They have one tv showing sports inside and two comfortable outdoor seating areas.

Mark F.

Yelp
Kid friendly nanobrewery with good beer that's too kid friendly. This is what beer drinking parents everywhere need. A super casual, clean and friendly environment to bring the kiddos, catch up with friends, maybe catch a game on TV and enjoy some tasty, craft beer made in uber small batches. The problem for me is the kids. Sorry parents. While I enjoy spending time with my nieces and nephews, build forts, dress up like fairy princess complete with makeup, it's not a ton of kids all running around at the same time. This was my experience at Fatty's. Twice while we were enjoying two great IPS server up by John, part owner, and Josh flying projectiles bounced off our table. I get it. The kids were having fun and there's ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with that. I think it's great. It's just not for me. If I had kids or was meeting some parents, I would totally come and enjoy this easy going joint. And you should. But if it's me and some other non-breeders, I'll pass. Sorry Captain.

Sameera K.

Yelp
Captain Fatty's is a solid spot for a good beer. They have a great variety of beers - distinct IPAs, pilsners, sours, and more. We tried a flight, which was around $15 for 5 pours. From the flight we selected, particularly the light, easy-drinking Beach Beer and the Vortex, one of the three IPAs we tasted. The real standout of Captain Fatty's was the Syrah Dry-Hopped Sour, though. It was excellent - refreshing, tart, and overall tasty. The brewery also has food trucks outside a couple nights of the week - we tried Neighbor Tim's BBQ, which was a welcome complement to the beer.

Stovall D.

Yelp
Nice place and semi decent beer but customer service was lacking. Waited in line behind 2 other patrons and still had to wait for 5+ minutes. The owner actually went behind us to serve someone else while skipping over others in line. They seemed to serve their friends before anyone else. Wish they could get a better serving system.

Jenny V.

Yelp
Hi fellow yelpers! In case you didn't know, I love beer! My husband loooves beer and we even had our wedding reception at an AWESOME brewery (in chicago, hayyy OIB!) When Ryan and I moved to Goleta last summer, I was slightly worried about our craft brewery situation- we were spoiled in Chicago living about 5-7 min walking distance to two breweries, being a short uber ride to a bunch of others too. BUT THEN we found Captain Fatty's and any worries were washed down with any of their AWESOME beers. I love love love that they have sour beers and not only do they have sour beers, THEY MAKE SO MANY DIFFERENT KINDS! I love that they release a new beer like 2x-3x a month (it keeps us coming back!) also i love their newer space, its big, inviting, bright and the aesthetic is on point. So do yourself a favor, go over to fatty's, bring some food (if they don't have a food truck there) drink some beer- honestly I would recommend having a flight of beer so you can try a couple different kinds and GO CRAZY, try the sours! i promise they're not too sour and they are so delicious! I'll miss you fatty's when i move back to chicago- can you guys open up a brewery there? I'll be beertender! Ryan will brew for you! It would be great, gotta show my cold chicagoans the greatness from The Good Land!

Yelp
Stop by here on one Friday afternoon with wife (part of my little vacation in SB). This was a small however very unique brewery. Great beer and environment! I had a great time. If I ever drop in SB or pass by here then I will definitely stop by again.

Yelp
Love that I can pick up beers and seltzers to go in packs and singles. They have an easy menu to order from and their space is big lots of seating when I went here when outdoor dining was allowed. Some days there is a woodfire pizza oven pop-up that is at this location (Santa Barbara woodfire).

Yelp
Wow what an upgrade! I first went to captain fattys when they were only opened for a few months back in 2015 and although it was already pretty cool (cool as in your typical random brewery in a warehouse business center), they decided to renovate. This is the first time I've visited since their renovation and I'm so impressed! The place is very cool and the decor is very goleta. I wasn't too impressed by their tap list before, but a few of their recent beers are really exciting. They are jumping on the haze train and apparently killing it since we stopped by to grab some cans and they were out! A cucumber hef was so delicious and easy to drink. Overall I will definitely be back to try their new releases. They do not have a phone line so no way to contact them via phone aha. Owner has a really cute and obedient Aussie shepherd and I'm in love! -J
