"Captain Jim’s has been around for decades and is still a reliable classic for a casual seafood meal. You can stop into the exceptionally bright North Miami market to get some fresh local fish or stone crab claws to go. But they do a pretty great job at cooking it, too. Pretty much all the South Florida seafood hits are on the menu—and they’re all really solid. If you want to try a few things, get the captain’s platter. It comes with shrimp, conch, the fish of the day, and they’ll make it grilled, blackened (our favorite), or fried. They also have a fried spiny lobster that’s served inside its shell that both looks cool and tastes great." - Ryan Pfeffer

The service was fantastic for a group of eight. Everything we needed was right on time and our server was super friendly. The establishment is starting to show some wear. The food was good but not great. All and all, I would eat there again.

Listen!! This is worth it. The buffet is really good. Plenty options. Chicken tenders were my favorite. Yes the crab legs are a plus and the dessert is good too!!

I don’t know how anyone ever gave this more than one star. All the food was barely edible. The rice was even crunchy. The salmon was wet and mushy. Didn’t even touch the cold bar out of fear. Mac and cheese was terrible. I don’t know how you could screw up the most basic foods. I’m sorry I ever ate here.

Me and my family was excited to eat here because we love crab legs and its all you can eat once we started getting crab legs some of them looked questionable as you can see in the pictures the food overall isnt good at all the oysters are horrible rolls are hard shrimp cold i wouldnt recommend this place at all!

This is the WORST seafood that I can ever remember eating. If I had your cell number, I would call you and beg you to avoid Jim's. My wife, mother and I had high hopes for "fresh seafood" as advertised by this place. $25 for a regular adult buffet $50 to add crab legs. Two of us chose the $50 option. I could not run to staff quick enough to cancel that crab option after trying the regular buffet items. All fried food was overly breaded and dry. In the pics you will see what might be misinterpreted as fried green tomatoes.. but no.. they are actually presented as crab cakes. The grilled fish sat in a puddle of water on the buffet. The stuffed flounder tasted like warm tuna fish. Oysters on half shell looked warm and there were only 3 on the buffet. There is absolutely no chance of this being fresh seafood. We were 3 of a total of 6 others in the whole restaurant. When I finally found our server who had moved on to hanging Christmas lights, I reluctantly paid my $100 check and ran into a worker outside. He said I didn't look happy. I told him what I thought and his response was "Well we were changing things out". I told him for $113.00 it should always have fresh food. I promise fresh dishes would NOT have helped. It's now been about 3 hours since we ate there and all three of us feel sick to our stomachs. I tried to warn new comers on my way out but I think I lost them to the bland pull of the overcooked flavorless gumbo. We have been here on vacation for 4 days and this was the worst experience of the trip so far. Ruined our day.

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time and we were very happy. The service it was great. Olga, our server was very attentive to our needs. I would recommend Captain Jim's seafood. Definitely ask for Olga. Everything was good to begin to end.

There is a major mold infestation in the buffet area that has not been addressed for at least 3 years that I’ve been coming here. It has only gotten worse. How the health department has not shut this down, is beyond me.

My girlfriend and I ate here on our vacation about a week ago. First off, everyone in the five star reviews is saying that this place has a “great atmosphere” and “perfectly cooked” crab legs. Someone even mentioned that their husband said that this place had the BEST crab legs that he had ever tasted. HOW THE HELL DO THESE PEOPLE LEAVE GOOD REVIEWS ABOUT THIS PLACE?! The lady at the register was rude and got our order wrong. My girlfriend got the crab leg buffet and I wanted the standard buffet. However, they put me down as crab legs and, in total, our bill was $138. This was for two people, mind you. As we were seated at our table, I realized how dirty and disgusting the building looked. There were buckets that had water dripping into them near the buffet area. Our waitress was rude and did not do the greatest at service. My crab legs had literal shit on them and had a strong, gross taste to them. The other pieces of food were bland and had an odd taste to them. My girlfriend and I smelled a foul smell from behind the building where we had parked. Area of location was SO shady, it was insane. Would NOT EVER recommend this restaurant to ANYONE. Even my worst enemy. Will definitely NOT be back. Shame on these people…

Yelp
Haven't been here in a while and they have dramatically improved the inside dining! The bar was very fresh, decor has all been updated.

Sadie V.

Yelp
Loved how they had non seafood options...it was my first ever an it was excellent and the people here are so nice and helpful!!

Indigo B.

Yelp
$49.95 3 bar crab buffet AYCE price. Buffet room overly steamy and muggy. Buffet includes dessert selection. Very old interior, however service good. Long community tables, booths In service section. Items as listed, but crab very old and almost impossible to get out. Need to provide tool. Fried shrimp nice size, round flat scallops. Frozen corn old. Salad fresh, limited toppings. Hushpuppies mall, but good. Rolls good. Coupon book discount 10%.

Ginger A.

Yelp
If you are charging $50 to eat crab legs at least have ones with meat in them. Rest of the food wasn't very warm. Floor was very slippery. Bathrooms were tired. Time to replace your toilet seats. Waitress was nice.

Samantha G.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I recently visited Captain Jim's Seafood Buffet and overall, it was a great experience! We tried almost every item on the hot bars, skipping just a few like mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, since we already know how those taste. We made sure to sample all the seafood options, and while most were delicious, we were a bit disappointed with the shrimp. All of the shrimp, except for the popcorn shrimp, had a gummy texture that didn't quite hit the mark. My boyfriend went for the all-you-can-eat crab legs, and he was thrilled with them, though I didn't partake. The variety was impressive, and we enjoyed trying different dishes. The service was friendly and attentive, making our meal even more enjoyable. To top it all off, dessert was included, which was a nice touch. Despite the shrimp issue, we had a positive experience and would definitely recommend Captain Jim's for a satisfying seafood feast.

Joe G.

Yelp
Was highly disappointed in overall look of the establishment. Very dated and unappealing. Food was not presented in an appealing manner. Buffet line was off in a dark and gloomy area. Won't be returning.

Jose M.

Yelp
First off, the rice tasted like the pre-packaged ones I buy at Walmart. Not to mention a plate costs $30 and that's only if you don't choose the crab option which is $50. So, it's expensive just to eat sucky food. Do not come here.

Andy W.

Yelp
Lots of seafood variety as well as salad bar. Can get buffet without crab legs which is far more than adequate or add AYCE crab legs for $25 more per person. You sacrifice quality/taste for variety and quantity. Seafood Gumbo and NE ClamWin Chowder however were good as were the fried oysters and oysters on the half shell. Very good service. Though not great, good plentiful variety for $25.99 pp.

Brande Y.

Yelp
The food options were not it. Food was no fresh other than the crab legs. Sodas are flat even though they were bubbly. Staff was okay. Waiters were pretty good. Way over priced. Crab legs were so salty that I only ate one plate and they still had dirt on them. Corn was so dry and not sweet. Crawfish was so bland. I would not come back here, it was by far the worst seafood buffet I've been to. Take your money elsewhere. Small waiting area, make sure to have all members of the parties there or they will skip to the next person even if they are sitting in the car due to space inside.

Yelp
A little over priced for the options that was offered. Most of the servers didn't speak much English so hard to ask for what you wanted! Most of the food was unseasoned and cold. The floors were very slick and uneven so be careful!!

Sana K.

Yelp
I would not recommend this place unless you like flavorless food. We came here because we saw the all you can eat crab legs sign and had a coupon. First of all there are two prices. They tell you up front thank goodness that is either $26 for everything except crab legs or $50 for everything including crab legs. That was quite the difference. I almost walked out but decided to try them out. They had a list of their items and they said you could walk through and check it out. Well they had plenty of crab legs and they kept em coming fresh n hot and plenty of butter. They kept everything stocked. The only good thing was their fried shrimp. Everything lacked any kind of flavor. So I ate crab legs and shrimp. The dessert is included but they bring it to you when you are ready for it. I got the strawberry cheesecake. No photos sorry. There are plenty better buffets in pigeon forge I hope.

Michelle D.

Yelp
Was skeptical due to the number of low reviews but we took a chance ... Honestly, most of the items on the buffet were decent. The big hitter, AYCE Crab Legs: the seasoning was excellent and yes, they seemed to be overcooked BUT my party and I came to the conclusion that it may have been because the covered the legs after placing them in the bar so the steaming unit kept cooking them. But quite frankly, that did NOT stop us and we thoroughly enjoyed it. They kept the buffet stocked and we never had to wait for something to be filled. Our server, along with all the workers, spoke broken English but we were able to communicate with no problems. The restaurant was fairly clean an and nothing really was "off putting" as stated in several reviews. Our party of 10 waited about 20m to be seated but that still was no reason for a low score. I scored 4stars instead of 5stars only because there were a few items on the bar that wasn't appetizing (raw oysters, fried scallops, fried flounder and the cheesecake was frozen).

Pierro K.

Yelp
Yikes! I've been here and have bragged about this place being good. Didn't realize it was rated 2 stars on Yelp! them crab legs and butter are life tho!

Beth B.

Yelp
Sorry but I have to say take a pass. The food wasn't very good and that includes the crab legs. I also don't appreciate being charged a service fee for using a card on a $100+ meal.

Trent L.

Yelp
I don't condone Dine and Dash but I think the police would understand. Honestly, don't even dine. The small selection of seafood was all breaded the same and barely seasoned. The best item they had was the mashed potatoes. The crab cake hockey pucks could break a tooth if you're not wearing your mouth piece. The waitress and atmosphere is acceptional though. Lesson learned. Good times.

Marie S.

Yelp
I should have listened to the real reviews. And saved $67.00. If I could give 0 stars I would! This total is what we paid after the meal was adjusted with no crab legs we ordered 2 meals, both with crab legs would have been well over $100.00 if its $60.00 a plate with crablegs Before your even seated, you clarify what you're paying for on the buffet. This garbage looked like the whole buffet was swimming in boo-boo. Or wherever they get anything on the bar (including the crab legs I drove 45 minutes for!) they don't wipe off or clean the first piece of seafood on there proud $60.00 a plate buffet (with crab legs) After almost 2 hours trying like heck to dig out some sorta meat with anything but a wet nap (not even available on the bar) of this boo boo looking dry crab wanna baby! I finally swallowed my pride hard af. I visited this same restaurant four years prior. It was so good then. Totally different restaurant almost. If I wouldn't of mentioned to my server my crab legs were horrible. Plus rolled in poop. This establishment should be shut down. I wish I would've took a picture. I was just so upset because I still had to pay for two regular bars, without crab legs. Save yourself some some money and heartache, and realize this place only survives on the out-of-towners they try to scam. PS. I almost forgot. The reason I didn't tip my server even $1.00. I walked up to the salad bar to make a salad 20 minutes before they closed, the workers were closing up the shit show, starting with the salad cuz my stomach was so empty. 10 people stood up at the start of the line for crab legs. Not one tray was brought out. The servers were telling everyone waiting. "They are about to come out until they were told at close none were coming out. They were closing. The other stuff is all trash as well. And they are totally out of any kind of soda. Period!

Marc B.

Yelp
Food was great!! Son loves crab legs and definitely it was priced right! I will be back!!

Kirt K.

Yelp
I hesitated to come here because of the reviews and rating, but I am glad I chalked it up to people that probably spent more during their vacation than they expected and came into a buffet with unlimited crab legs and were expecting to pay McDonald's prices. The building is outdated and could use some updates and upgrades but the food was all hot, and there was plenty of crab brought out frequently. The flavors on other items were no worse than a typical buffet. Makayla was a very attentive server, our drinks stayed full. Overall we would be back.

Jenna Z.

Yelp
Just to start, the service was amazing. Our watress was super kind and on top of our drinks. The food was okay. It was $50 for the endless crab legs and other sea food. For buffet style food, you'd get what you'd expected. It was nice because I was in the mood for crab but i'm not sure id go there again.

Robin M.

Yelp
What a terrible dining experience! My wife & I found the food not to be good. Service was severely lacking despite the place not being busy. Waaay overpriced and like double the price if you want to add crab. Also if you pay with a credit card they add on an extra fee. Never Again! Worst dining experience we have had in the area.

Susan B.

Yelp
The food was nasty! The waitress was good-she even marked our ticket down to $14.99 because we just got one plate each. This is the only bad meal I've ever had in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area & we've been coming for years.

Jonathan R.

Yelp
I give this two stars because of the decent service from the staff. They were attentive, checking up on us frequently and were quick to refill drinks, take away plates, etc. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ends. Ambiance was that of your typical low-tier buffet experience. Price was broken down into two "tiers": $25 for buffet with no crab legs...and $49 for a buffet with crab legs. If you go here (please don't), just get the buffer with no crab legs. The crab legs were your typical frozen-to-steamed affair. Left in the steam tray for way too long until the shells were too soft--almost mushy--and really challenging to break apart. The meat was almost dry. There was a huge tray of melted butter that was either foul or starting to go rancid; the rank odor was overpowering as you walked by it. The fried oysters tasted rank. And I usually love fried oysters. The "crab cakes" were neither crab (imitation)...well, okay, they were mostly breading, so I guess the "cake" part was spot on. I threw everything out but the small piece I ate. I usually never waste food. The rest of the food was bland and flavorless: fried scallops that were rubbery and overcooked. Clam chowder that was flavorless and plain (and I had just finished a trip to New England, so this was especially disappointing). Stuffed flounder that was almost milk-like in texture and taste. The macaroni and cheese was passable. My dad thought the chicken was decent. Need I remind you that this is a seafood buffet? Avoid.

Gina W.

Yelp
Very surprised at the low star ratings from folks. This is an ALL you can eat buffet. For a seafood buffet with fresh, raw oysters and hundreds, really close to a 1000 lbs I'm told of crab legs being cooked here today. Place is packed and everyone is going to town eating all the crab legs. Now, I opted for no crab legs so my buffet costs $26 while the crab leg folks pay $50. They keep the buffet stocked and I was more entertained by watching everyone make their trip to the buffet and walking away with mounds of crab legs. My Mom who is super picky and critical barely spoke to me because she was one of the many just going to town on them crab legs and oysters! This is an amazing price for this AYCE! To polish it off, they offer an array of delicious desserts. You can't go wrong with the pecan pie- delish! Oh and for the first time, I actually ate a frog leg. They had them on the buffet and well, like the story goes.....it tastes like chicken! Enjoy~ you won't be disappointed!!

Tyhler B.

Yelp
We absolutely loved Captain Jim's. We were on a week long vacation and we went 3 times! The crab legs came out hot and fresh almost ever 15 mins or so. I def recommend for the seafood lovers. The only thing that probably wasn't super fresh were the raw oyster's. But you can't beat the price! One of servers was really great as well. I believe her name was Megan.

Katina D.

Yelp
$49.00 crab legs (see pic )if they aren't rubber then they are empty legs. The clam chowder is the worst celery in it. Fried oyster (see pic) well hard as rock cooked. Skip this place

Sally F.

Yelp
I wish I would have read the reviews before I took my family to enjoy a nice buffet. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The food was disgusting. The clam chowder was so bland, even the shrimp was barely edible, the sides were cold and greasy tasting. My daughter had to use the restroom, when we went in a restaurant employee was at the sink. There were 3 stalls, each was more disgusting and filthy than the next. There was paper towels all over the floor with the trash bin overflowing. The employee just looked at us and exited. I didn't allow my daughter to use the restroom. Although the food was bad, the ambiance of the space.was totally lacking. The price for this slop was outrageous as well. Oh well live and learn. Please read reviews when you are not familiar with the area. I wish I could give minus stars, cause it would be minus 5

Quecia M.

Yelp
Visited Captain Jim doing our family vacation to Gatlinburg and the service and food was great. All you can eat crablegs at its price was great especially being from South Carolina where the price is much higher. Sheba was excellent

Khallid S.

Yelp
My wife and I pa8d the 50.00 for the crablegs and it's all you can eat crab legs we stuffed ourselves it was amazing..the other foods where just as good but after you eat a few crablegs you don't want anything else lol

Gary M.

Yelp
Horrible, don't even think about going there. the only thing good was the Key Lime pie( average at best). we did not get the crab legs. all of the fried food was tasteless and the cold shrimp was paste!!!!

Erica C.

Yelp
We ate at Captain Jim's for lunch. The buffet was well stocked and everything was fresh. The service was wonderful, cleared our plates and refilled drinks. Can't beat the price!! We will definitely be back!

Casandra W.

Yelp
Don't waste your time or money. Was so excited to find this place only to be incredibly disappointed with the quality of food and the overall appearance of the inside of the restaurant. Our food was cold as soon as we got to the table. The crab legs were an extra cost so that made the total $50 a person. It was so not worth it. They were overcooked and some had been sitting at the bottom of the buffet serving pan for way too long they were discolored and gross looking. The only good food item was the breaded and fried fish fillets. Spend your money elsewhere and actually enjoy your meal.

Matthew J.

Yelp
My uncle took me here, thinking that he was doing something like this was a big deal. It was kind of expensive in his book. Anyways, I ate a pound and a half of crab legs and it had so much MSG that I literally passed out at the table. I hadn't even had a drink, and he had to take me to the car because I literally went into a coma. Do not go here. True story.

Leah J.

Yelp
I'm only leaving one star for my waitress. its a total dumpster fire in this restaurant.. dirty, disgusting food.. anyone who left a positive review must be blind with no tastebuds, or have been stranded on a desert island for 17 years and is left with no other option of where to eat.

Dylan T.

Yelp
If you like cold, non-seasoned crab, mediocre service, with an ambiance made with a $10 budget at dollar general.... This is the place for you! Don't eat the dark crab legs. They've sat at the bottom of the pan all day. $118 spent on 2 people just to leave with the shits. I hate I can't leave 0 stars. I had to make an account on here just to tell yall to go get McDonald's or a bologna sandwich from the dumpster.

A G.

Yelp
Food was cold and way over priced. 49.95 per person if you wanted crab legs or 25.99 if not. Service wasn't great either. Oysters on half Schell had be out too long and weee mushy, potato's were like glue, shrimp didn't even taste like shrimp Zero stars if I could. Will never return. By the way the floor was in bad shape a hazard to walk on

Dale U.

Yelp
The food was sub standard. Crab legs were not worth $50. The Craw Dads had no taste. Atmosphere was terrible. The staff was friendly. I'm not saying don't go there, I'm saying it's not worth the money!!!!!!!

Makayla W.

Yelp
fucking disgusting!!! no season no taste and rude ass people who work in the front the servers are nice just no good food at all the crawfish is awful and old and so is the crablegs! wayyyy too much overpriced to be nasty as fuck! and the waiter took a long time to get our drinks.

Jazmyn E.

Yelp
always happy at an all you can eat buffet that has crab legs !!! just wish they was seasoned and there were more varieties of food

Desiree J.

Yelp
great food except for the seafood. crawfish was so overcooked they was mush. and the crab legs was the same way!

Eliz S.

Yelp
Let me say it again- If you love crab legs go!! If you don't then you'll be out of luck. There are hand sanitizers at each buffet. The place is rundown. Everything needs updated and fixed from the floors to the ceiling and one would think with the money they're bringing in that would be accomplished but... no. So if you like crab legs enjoy. If you don't find another place to eat.

Vickie S.

Yelp
worse crab legs Ive ever had . They were nasty looking , last time ill go there , was disgusting.for the price also , they seemed to be burned and nasty looking

Jerkesta M.

Yelp
This was my Valentine's Day lunch and I have no complaints at all. This was my first time eating here. I had a pleasure of meeting my server named Sheba. She is an excellent server. She and all the staff has great customer service and treated us with nothing but kindness. I had the all you can eat crab leg buffet and I tell you everything was excellent and fresh. Whenever I'm in Pigeon Forge again I will be coming back here again.

Lora S.

Yelp
Horrible, cost like $10 extra for endless crab and for kids to eat is already $14 and cost even more then $20 with crab and it's $26 for people older then 11 to eat WITHOUT crab and even more with crab, the food was all watered down and downright disturbing and just tasted cheap and bad, the floors were also all messed up and things were literally being held up by duck tape and the buffet is small and the place just looks horrible, the only good thing was our waiter, which only came twice and she was nice but like I said only came twice to get our drinks and the second time to give us our silverware, please save your money and go somewhere better to eat, and may I add it made me and my familys stomach upset after eating there.

Don Doris H.

Yelp
Great place to eat seafood...so many options to choose from....best seafood buffet ..i come always to enjoy the food here ...will be back again....

Errol P.

Yelp
Food lukewarm and not good. Service not good. Ambiance trashy and it stank a little bit. If you're down to spend 20-50 dollars a person on trashy food and you have a big appetite, go for it I guess. The bathrooms are dirty and I'm not surprised. But there's plenty tables

Randy J.

Yelp
Food and service was great crab legs the best I have had in a while cooked just right will definitely be back

Mackenzie P.

Yelp
I love crab legs and will stop anywhere to have unlimited crab for a decent price! Not the best I've ever had but decent for the price and quantity you get. The service was good they were constantly refilling the bar!

William B.

Yelp
Not bad, food was average for a seafood buffet. Crab legs were tiny but cooked well & tasty . Food trays were well maintained & kept fresh while we were there. The crab leg option pretty much doubles your price, so make sure you go hungry if you choose this option . They also did a family photo as a souvenir which was a nice touch .
