"Just down the street from Deanie’s, Captain Sid’s has been around for decades and specializes in fresh and boiled seafood. It’s a tidy operation with no tables, so plan on taking your loot with you. Before you go, check the deli case for stuffed crabs, crawfish pies, alligator sausage, and turtle soup to go." - Clair Lorell, Beth D'Addono

Captain Sid’s Seafood has some of the best crawfish I’ve ever had—perfectly seasoned, fresh, and full of flavor. The prices are great, especially considering the quality, and the sides are just as good. Everything was well-prepared and tasted amazing. If you’re looking for top-notch seafood at a great value, this is the place to go!

Since we’ve found Captain Sid’s, we look no further. They have the freshest seafood around. We highly recommend their shrimp salad, crab cakes, and boiled shrimp! They see us so much that their staff knows us by name. Their team is so friendly and helpful. I love how they provide top notch customer service. If you love great seafood, please stop by!! You won’t be disappointed

Google
Amazing experience. The staff was so kind and helpful. It was our first time and the kind lady walked us through their most popular options and even offered to heat up our food for us as we were going to be eating at a local park. Captain Sid’s embodies southern hospitality and truly was the highlight of our New Orleans trip. We can not wait to come back and try more, you have gained a customer for life

Google
Capt. Sid's is the best place to get your boiled crawfish, crabs, shrimp! They season everything perfectly just enough spice like us New Orleans' like!!

Darryl S

Google
They have some yummy seafood! We got 15 lbs of crawfish, and they were good size and very tasty! I will definitely be going back for more!

Fredie Robinson

Google
We stopped in here for the first time last year on our way back home to KY and picked up a sack of crawfish. The price, quality, and service was great! The young man outside packed our cooler perfectly for our long ride home. We will be back very soon!

Mark T.

Yelp
Jumbo boiled crabs and fixings (potatoes and corn) were on point. Sid's is my go to for crawfish and crabs. Only slight issue would be they don't do boiled sausage.

Steve K.

Yelp
Ray came through in a clutch situation for Senior graduation crawfish boil w 175lbs shipped to ATL. Storm knocked out power to the area including NOLA airport but Ray persisted & found the last FedEx Ground truck leaving NOLA for ATL in time for the party. Crawfish arrived 2 hours before festivities for the WIN!

Yelp
I wanted large, easy to peel, raw shrimp. I bought them here and they were perfect. The lady behind the counter was very nice. Captain Sid's is clean and has parking.

Maeve G.

Yelp
So I have to admit, it's been a very long time since I've had boiled crawfish. Sid's did not disappoint! The crawfish were seasoned perfectly, the potatoes were delicious, and being able to buy boiled garlic is awesome. The staff was very polite and got my food quickly for me. Overall, a great experience!

James D.

Yelp
Very good seafood seasoned perfectly every time. Their signature seasoning is great for any boil. I've even used it as a rub on meat and vegetables. Also, the store always smells good and extremely clean. Not to mention, an exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Thank you Capt Sids.

Colleen L.

Yelp
So, my family had a craving for boiled shrimp, raw oysters, corn and potatoes today. My husband picked up 2 pounds of boiled shrimp, they smelled bad, were overcooked and very mealy. Totally inedible. I called and was told they had just boiled them? Their response was to bring them back and get more. I politely declined. My daughter said the raw oysters tasted funny. The potatoes tasted like chlorine. What happened Captain Sids? Y'all used to be great. I ended up pitching everything in the trash. What a waste of $56.00.

Terry C.

Yelp
Went there twice this week to grab boiled crawfish and boiled shrimp on my short trip to Louisiana (I'm from New Jersey). They were both very good and readily available. I think the seafood could be seasoned hotter, but I guess they have to tailor to everyone. Will return next time I'm down that way!

Kristen S.

Yelp
Crawfish was amazing! Finally someone who isn't afraid to make the crawfish spicy. Stuffed artichoke was terrible, taste wasn't the worse but the leaves/heart was hard, hardly any leaves were actually stuffed, everything just theow *Contacted my Captain Sids about above artichoke comment, thank you for that, I didn't expect anything but how nice it is to have a business care. I mainly was making sure ya knew in case ya had someone new doing them. I would never stop patronizing the business, y'all are the best around. Thanks so much for everything!

Steve I.

Yelp
Love Sid's! I've been living directly across the street from them for one year now and love it. Sid's is reasonably priced and always has fresh seafood. The crew that works there are all nice. Shrimp, fish, crabs, gumbo, etc. They also have crabs on sale almost every day. Get a dozen small crabs for $10 (best deal in town). Sid's has it all!

Kim P.

Yelp
I never know where to go to get boiled crawfish, but I am glad I stopped by here! Just like the other reviews, they mentioned the seasoning being really clean and what not. I mean it's not super spicy or overly seasoning, very mild. I personally love spicy so it would've been nice to have some kick, but not everyone likes spice like I do. The size of the crawfish were really good sized, large. We also ordered 1/2 a pound of sausage to go with our crawfish. It was cut into an 1 1/2" bites, nice and juicy with good flavors. Crawfish boiled - $3 lb. cash, $3.25 lb. card Sausage - $6.99 lb They also offer a variety of other pre-made fresh/frozen items like stuff crabs, pastas, and other dishes that compliments seafood. Tip - You can get an additional .25 cents off a pound for crawfish! You can tell it's a family owned place and the people were very friendly! I will def be back to try more of their seafood.

Katie J.

Yelp
I am a pretty picky crawfish eater. This place is hands down my new go-to spot for crawfish. Common things I see at other places are that the crawfish sizing isn't consistent, they are dirty, lack flavor or hard to peel. None of these apply at CPT Side. Easy to peel, clean, big, juicy and flavorful!

Meghan A.

Yelp
I've gone here 2 times in the past 8 days and sadly the crawfish were not up to par on both occasions. In the first instance, about a pound of bugs were either dead prior to boiling or had smashed/broken shells, making them inedible. Yesterday, I went back because I typically love their crawfish. Unfortunately, the bugs were so overly salted, they were unpalatable. What's happening Capt?! You once had consistently delicious crawfish. Now I'm afraid to go back because I don't want to risk wasting money on bad crawfish again! :(

Patricia R.

Yelp
Captain Sid's sells fresh, locally caught seafood at very reasonable prices. The staff is always professional, friendly, and super efficient. I'm always greeted as soon as I walk in, and I never wait long.

Ashley J.

Yelp
Omg... First time trying Fresh Crawfish and I would never eat a frozen one again. This place was simply amazing. Staff was friendly and welcoming and any questions we had they had the answers. Crawfish were fresh, spicy and very tasty. I visited this wonderful place while on Vacation to New Orleans and will be recommending it to anyone that travels there. It was so good I went back multiple days. There Boudin pork and Crawfish sausage was also tasty. This time they didn't have any fresh crabs but hopefully next time they will. They have a variety of products like alligator sausage, turtle soup, boiled shrimp, to raw shrimp....and they also ship items.

David V.

Yelp
Not only the best Blackened Chicken Alfredo I've ever had, but the in the top 3 best meals I have ever had. All the food was so amazing but everyone at the table agreed that the Alfredo was easily the best!!

Genevieve L.

Yelp
Have been going here for years. And I'm not a 50 year old local, I'm in my twenties and don't support just for the local business factor, they're just that amazing! I've been to every other crawfish spot in Metairie, Schaefer's, Dennis', Deanie's. They're crawfish are consistent with great size, flavor, big claws, juicy bodies. Always friendly customer service. Can't say enough great things about this place. Also the shrimp salad with a sleeve of saltines is the perfect lunch. Support this establishment! They're worth it.

Marty A.

Yelp
"the Spice must flow"... Words to live by from my childhood (fellow geeks... anybody...?) So... The next time I stop in maybe ole Capn' Sid and I need to dust off the VCR and do a little research on why it is so. How does one get the moniker of Captain if they can't even hoist the mainsail on the crawfish boil. Don't get me wrong, they were... tasty... ish. But come on guys, this is 2019... We gotta get in there and shake things up a bit. Just cause we're in Lakeview doesn't mean everything has to be so bland. I'm coming back. I'll try your charter again... But just remember... "He who controls the Spice, controls the universe!" - Baron Harkonnen. Get it in there.

Harry J.

Yelp
Good boiled crawfish and fast service! The sides can be a little better seasoning wise! But I won't give up on em.

Liz C.

Yelp
This is a review of only their boiled crawfish. Every time I crave mudbugs I'm just gonna curve the grocery store ones and head straight over here. Don't get me wrong, some grocery stores have them good and spicy like I like them. The thing about Captain Sid's crawfish is they are super clean and the seasoning is done just right. Of late, the grocery store seemed to have more dead ones than ever before cooking (if you don't know, you'll know what I mean when you meet one... YUCK!!!!) I've found a total of two in the various batches I've had from here. Anyhow, these are the best yet and I might have to go back again tomorrow. The season is almost over and I feel like I need to get it while I can!

Yelp
Yet another place on my never-ending list of places I can say "I can't believe I haven't written a review here". Well.... I can't believe I haven't written a review for Captain Sid's. Bucktown has a few seafood shops. And Bucktown was originally chosen for convenience purposes. But now it has evolved into a journey from the westbank to get their boiled seafood if I'm not doing it myself. In particular, their boiled crawfish are some of the best at the best prices in New Orleans. But that always depends on your taste for crawfish. My family has generations worth of people from New Orleans. And although, crawfish recipes have not flowed through those generations, the difference between spice and spicy-hot has been something that was preached to me from an early age. My grandmother has always been in the use spices for flavor and not blow your head off camp. And although I do like a little kick, picking and eating crawfish is not something I want searing my lips with cayenne. So I want to clarify that Captain Sids does the perfect crawfish for us. Just enough kick to let you know its there. But they are always cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Worth the drive for my family for a convenient night of seafood. Their crabs are also really good and at an amazing price when we have gotten them. The staff is friendly and I'm always in and out in no time. Highly recommended.

Suzette R.

Yelp
Best seafood in Bucktown! Fast, friendly and always fresh! We love their pre mixed crawfish boil seasoning. Taste just like their store boiled crawfish!

Kathryn G.

Yelp
I've gotten crawfish twice from here so far, and it was perfectly seasoned both times! The prices are pretty good, and they give a discount for cash. The place overall is extremely clean, and the staff is friendly. They were giving out free pieces of king cake during Mardi Gras which was a nice touch. It's small, but I've never had to wait in line. Definitely will keep coming back here!

S C.

Yelp
Every season, every year -- consistent, flavorful boiled seafood. My go to spot though I try damn near every spot, everywhere. Not the spiciest option, but the flavor is there. One of the few places that seem to boil shrimp properly AND has great flavor. Big fan of their crabmeat pies as well.

Marie O.

Yelp
Just an update on how fantastic Capt. Sid is. When I thought it couldn't get any better, it does. The entire staff is fantastic. The crabs are juicy and seasoned as they were when I was a child. The shrimp salad is great and as smooth as a pate that can be spread on a cracker, and the potato salad is grrrrrrt great! The olive salad is great for your sandwiches. Each time I go in there I try to get something different besides my usual. Capt Sid gets an A+ every time. What's also a plus is that someone answers the phone when you call and accommodates you. Great variety of naturally New Orleans foods, great people and great service. Try them, you'll LOVE them. "MO"

Joseph B.

Yelp
Small place, huge flavor!! Loved the boiled shrimp, the remoulade sauce and crab meat and fresh shrimp! Thankful for the kind employees during the Corona epidemic.

OKae H.

Yelp
Nice spot, very, very clean and wasn't stinky. Fair prices and their shrimp salad is SO good. Bought some of their store-made spicy fish fry, excited to see how it holds up to my usual method. This was my first time visiting because the spot I usually go to had a stupid long line, I was about to go home but Yelped and saw Cpt Sid's down the street. I'll definitely go back because I didn't check out the fish case b/c other folks were waiting. If I had any complaint to make, it would be the staff weren't wearing masks. Great looking shrimp!

Michelle Q.

Yelp
Their boiled crawfish is so perfectly seasoned. It was so tasty that I had wished that we had ordered more.

Nicole F.

Yelp
The lump crabmeat is steep at 28 bucks a pound, but this might be the going rate. The service is super friendly. I made crabcakes with this lump meat and got the best reviews ever....so overall worth the price because the crabcakes were better than at a restaurant and I let the crab be the star of the show. Also, the crawfish and shrimp were better than at the local grocery store around the corner and basically the same price.

Erica S.

Yelp
One of THE BEST boiled crawfish in town. Just the right amount of spice, great corn, potatoes and sausage. A person could gain 10 pounds from this wonderful food. Will be buying again!

Rebecca N.

Yelp
If you read Gambit's "Best of New Orleans:Food 2016" you'll find that one of the top three places for boiled seafood is Deanie's on Lake Avenue. If you also happen to care about the taste of your boiled seafood and not what Gambit readers/voters think is the best seafood, you'll do yourself a favor and walk over to Sid's instead. The shop and its staff may be small, but it's clean, high quality, and constantly churning out an array of boiled seafood that's being prepared outside as you wait. I've had the crabs, and come back for the crawfish multiple times a month. For crawfish specifically you get a nice array of sizes, perfect seasoning, and a great price (it's a few cents cheaper if you pay with cash). So next time you're craving something boiled, do yourself a favor and stop by Sid's.

Cynthia H.

Yelp
Best boiled crawfish always!!! I've been going here for a few years now, and the crawfish are always clean, and the perfect amount of seasoning. (I personally don't like extremely spicy crawfish because they are too spicy to enjoy them). Captain Sid's are perfect every time, especially with sausage and potatoes! Yum! . I've tried boiled crawfish from several places over the years and once I tried Captain Sid's, this is the only place I get them. Btw, they have delicious potato salad too!!! The staff are always very friendly. I love their crawfish and could eat them everyday when in season.

Ebony S.

Yelp
After reading so many great reviews I was a bit disappointed. I got the boiled shrimp as they were out of crabs, which wasn't a big deal. The flavor was just ok and they were room temp not cold per se but definitely not hot. Overall a mediocre experience.

Alissyn H.

Yelp
This is our neighborhood fresh fish/hot boiled crawfish place to shop. The catfish , trout and redfish are always beautiful and great to cook. The prepared foods are classic local favorites. Take them home and warm them up... You won't be disappointed... Except maybe because you wish you'd bought more!

Anawin K.

Yelp
I was craving some crawfish the other day so I stopped by here to get some. I've heard a lot of great things about the crawfish here. When I walked in, I was greeted almost immediately. The lady at the counter was super nice. I got 4lbs of boiled crawfish. When I went, boiled crawfish was $4.00 a pound if you paid with cash and $4.25 a pound if you paid with a card. I got my crawfish and then came home to try it out. I really liked it. They were very well seasoned. Besides crawfish, they also sell other seafood that include crabs, oysters, shrimp, and fish. They also sell a variety of sides and salads such as potato salad, olive salad, gumbo, bisque, etoufee, etc. I will definitely be back to try out other things in the future!

Jenna R.

Yelp
Crawfish are SO tasty and best prices in town. They are very accommodating and also give you a deal if you pay with cash, which is pretty sweet. Get them before they're gone!!!

Bayou B.

Yelp
Great Local Seafood. They are as Authentic as it comes. All your boiled seafood favorites. They even have the spices to do it yourself but call ahead....at any given time they can be out of what you are looking for

Len B.

Yelp
Best crawfish in town every time, tried another seafood shop recently and wasn't even close. Thanks Ray and the Capt Sids Seafood Team!!!!

Jo M.

Yelp
I pledge my allegiance to Captain Sid's, of the greater New Orleans area :) They have a consistently delicious boil and the friendliest and most helpful staff around! When I visit my mom in St. Louis, I always try to bring some boiled seafood to her and they always come through with a primo packing job and make the whole transaction so easy. Been going here for years! Worth the trip to Bucktown!

Stephen S.

Yelp
They have the best crawfish in the area. They also deliver to ie for events. If clean and tasty crawfish and all That gift with it.

Gregory S.

Yelp
We order live crawfish for a party we have in Muskego WI and have them flown here with great results. 5 years in a row with excellent service, communication, fair prices, and most importantly a great product. You will NOT be disappointed!!

Krista P.

Yelp
Procrastinated until the final hour for Thanksgiving oysters, and no surprise that all of the usual spots were sold out... One place even laughed at my asking on the phone if they had any availability, but not Captain Sid's! Not only were they pleasant on the phone letting me know what they still had in stock, but our in-market experience was awesome. These guys and gals are just the friendliest! Their oysters were also reasonably priced and delicious, and they had a great selection. We will definitely be back!

Helmut J.

Yelp
You like cooking with real seafood? You don't mind an out of the way location? This is the place.

Esta B.

Yelp
They have the best boiled seafood! Great prices, amazing flavor, and Quality! The staff are very friendly, and helpful!

Leslie M.

Yelp
So far I've been there twice. I just moved in the area. First for crawfish which was delicious. Second for crabs. The crabs were to die for. I called & they said they'd be out of the pot at 2:15pm but I couldn't get there till 3 so they held them for me. Super sweet staff. This will definitely be my weekly stop for boiled seafood.

Pete T.

Yelp
This is usually the place we get crawfish at (to bring home) when we're in New Orleans... The price is decent and the crawfish is delicious... Be sure to call ahead if you have a big order or if it's during a busy weekend!!

David G.

Yelp
I was just traveling through and didn't realize this place wasn't a restaurant. The folks inside were nice enough to warm some food up for us and let us eat. The food is amazing! Had the crawfish pie, boiled shrimp, and seafood gumbo. All of it deserves 5 stars!

Stan S.

Yelp
A small seafood market in the Bucktown neighborhood, easy to miss, the only sign seems to be painted on the glass window. I was impressed on how clean the place was during a busy day, spotless. Better yet, the smell was of fish, but not fish past their prime, that stinky fish smell. Everything seems well run here and the people helpful at the counter.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Cleanest, biggest, and the very BEST Lake Ponchatrain Blue Crabs around! We live on the Northshore and Captain Sid's has the finest seafood around, and that's saying a lot coming from someone who has grown up around seafood! We drive almost two hours out of the way for their crabs boiled or live! Amazing customer service too! Thank you sooo much for being awesome and staying late so we could pick up our order!

Steve S.

Yelp
Best crawfish in the city. Not always the lowest in price, but highest quality around.
