Bought a bag of crawfish and was told they were just shipped that morning and were fresh and alive. When I got the bag it smelled so bad and sour . They told me oh it’s good it will be fine. When I got home to purge them I had probably 5 lbs of 15 lb bag either dead or rotten and on top of that there were several dead fish mixed in and rotten. Worst crawfish I have ever eaten or prepared. 56$ for fish bait

Picked up 2 sacks of crawfish on Saturday morning. One sack was half dead from crushed shells. We could only guess that the sack was on the bottom in the truck from LA. The other sack was marginal at best. Called Capitan Dave's as soon as we got home. Got a good luck, they were just harvested yesterday and SHOULD be good - everything we have is sold and they can't replace. $300 of good luck. Last time we'll be shopping at Dave's.

This is one of the best places to purchase fish. We purchase salmon, whiting, Buffalo ribs & more. Fresh frozen in vacuum sealed packs on larger quantities. I added photo of Buffalo ribs I cooked. Yum!

This place was amazing! Very clean and the biggest Alaskan King crabs I’ve ever seen. Super nice employees too. I called a dozen places and finally found a place that had the Crab legs! I’ll definitely be back!

A great small business worth supporting. The steelhead was off the hook and tasted exponentially better then the one you get in the normal grocery stores. All the wild caught fish is worth trying as it is very fresh. I cant wait to try some of the food they make on site. The fresh bread went well with the fish, definitely worth checking out !

The food I received is not safe to eat. My food arrived the day after it was supposed to arrive. When I opened the box, I immediately noticed that the ice packs exploded and the warm chemical goop was everywhere. The plastic bag containing the crabs broke, so I received a warm bag of crab legs floating in a chemical solution. The pie completely melted into a goopy mess and the pie box became soft with all of the warm chemical solution in the box. You are putting people in real danger. UPDATE - I reached out to customer service. They eventually offered to resend my order or process a refund

Speaking from recent personal experience the fish is often times knowingly sold to customer after it is no longer fresh. He cuts away bad pieces of fish off the filet and calls this process manicuring. Items such as the Cajun crab dip contain imitation crab although he will tell you it’s real blue crab. None and I repeat none of the inventory is dated and labeled so it is impossible to tell when anything came in or has gone bad. There is a lack of food certification from the top down and it shows. Also a portion of the items are purchased at Sam’s and Costco where you yourself could buy the same items cheaper. (For instance, the smoked salmon.) Eat here at your own risk

This place is amazing! Huge Alaskan King Crab Legs. Freshest fish I've ever seen. Place is very clean and the staff are super friendly. I will definitely go there again.

Wouldn't even give a star if that was an option. Ordered my sack of crawfish days in advance and now I'm sitting outside 40 minutes before they close to pick up my order. Lights and signs on, but the door is locked and no one is inside. I really don't understand and hope I don't get charged anything.

I do about 2-3 boils a year, and for the last 5 years I have used Dave's. Always satisfied. They offer market pricing, and I always recommend them to anyone wanting live crawfish. The owner is super nice, and is very helpful. Love this small business! When picking up, remember to grab some Gulf shrimp and (of course) the crab dip.

Great seafood and great service!! We will most def be ordering from them again...the oysters were really fresh.. the crab dip is the BEST!! Stuffed crab was delish.

We do several boils per season, the captain always has fresh crawfish, fresh fish and shell fish. Really a great spot! You might find cheaper but never better imo.

The service here is bad, several of the employees are smartass and the boiled crawfish are really bad. I won't be bac.

Friendly service. Horrible live crawfish. I was told by the guy that took my order that they have fresh crawfish coming in every day. The crawfish that I was given wasn't fresh. I paid over $150 for a sack of crawfish that was half dead. UNACCEPTABLE. I had to go to Fiesta to get fresh, live crawfish that was caught the day before. If you want fresh crawfish go to Fiesta.

Always get my live crawfish from here! They were a great large size and fresh! Highly recommend

We donated 95.00 to this so-called seafood market. He said fresh oysters are brought in weekly. These were not fresh. They were old and smelled rotten. Didn't take the chance for fear of food poisoning. DO NOT buy oysters from this place.

I have been coming to Captain Dave's for a few years now for my crawfish orders. They always tell you how this years crop is before ordering. I ordered 50 lbs this year and they were large and very tasty. Please remember to bring in or have your order number to expedite your check out time and those behind you. They do charge a bit more than you grocery store but the quality is worth it. I also bought a pound of crab dip that was so good with just enough spice. Will go back for my next party to buy some more of that.

I have been coming here for years and everyone has always been very friendly but to have to make a phone call today and get someone very rude on the phone is ridiculous. We always come here for crawfish and oysters but not anymore. It only takes one time for bad customer service.

I'm originally from Louisiana and been in Texas since 2003, Captain Dave's is a great place to get fresh Seafood. They have a huge variety of seafood items. The catfish filets are always so good. The crabmeat dip is delightful! They also have seasonings and other South Louisiana boxed entree items (jambalaya, red beans) that are easy to cook. GEAUX check it out!

Got a lobster tail-(be warned that prices have gone up significantly from website) but the recommended tail was what I wanted and I appreciated the good advice..tried the gumbo-not spicy enough for me(no surprise) but too much okra(not a fan) too little shrimp,and could only find 1 piece of cod-o well next time I'll make my own...good selection of seafood and open 7 days so when the craving hits ya like it did me-go for it!

Two men working the store were unmasked and had no sense of social distancing. A customer came in also unmasked. The store is really pretty small so there is no safe way to protect against COVID transmission in this environment. It was scary to see a food provider consider pathogen prevention so carelessly. I would love to return and support this business if they make some changes in their protocols.

Purchased somewhat live crawfish on June 26, 2021 that were supposed to be washed and graded for $148.00 but the crawfish were neither washed or graded. The crawfish had a thick build up of sand and mud they would not come off so we could not eat them. Spoke with Captain Dave the following Monday regarding the crawfish I purchased and he basically admitted that he knew that 2 or 3 sacks of the crawfish were not washed but still charged me the washed price. He also stated that there was nothing he could do after the fact. Don't waste your time or money at this place.

Stopped in on way out of town on a road trip to a cabin. Grabbed a couple of lobsters, shrimp and crab dip. OMG everything was fresh and amazingly delicious. Super friendly and helpful people working there! Will definitely be back for more crab dip that I can't quit eating. Lol Glad we found this little seafood market gem!

Very rude and not intellectually articulate. These ignorant employers tried to sale me squid and pass it as octopus then and laughed when I said octopi... like are you inarticulate I guess so if you are trying to sell me the wrong product.

The seafood is okay but the help is awful, surly. We've been customers for a couple years. I always want to support local business when possible.I went in today and they just acted like buttholes. I really only wanted some shrimp. Not sure why they would let their business be run this way.

I don't mind paying more, but when your quality drops on a particular item yet the price increases dramatically....there's a problem. Your settling on what your supplier is offering you and passing it onto your customers and saying they are to blame. This is not a market that's so small your limited on vendors. That is not good business! I recommended you before my order was picked up...I'm having to warn the people I referred your business to for their events/parties now.

This has to be the best seafood market in Dallas, and I have been to most. The selection is outstanding and everything I have bought here has been as fresh as if it were swimming the same day. The prices are extremely fair and much cheaper than several fish markets in town. My only complaint is that it's a 30 minute drive from my house and 30 minutes back, so I always buy as much will fit in my freezer. For me, this is the only place in Dallas, ok the Dallas area since it is in Plano.

Captain Dave's Seafood Market is amazing. The Staff is very friendly and helpful. Sharing Recipe secrets. Big selection of Seafood otherwise hard to find. I am from Houston, so I am use to going to Kemah or Clear Lake or Galveston. So this place is a treasure with a pretty good Selection. I have been there 3 times and every experience was wonderful.

What a gem! I've been looking everywhere for a market that sells fresh oysters in bulk. They happen to sell it by the dozen or by the case (100 oysters/case) at a very reasonable price. They also sell them year-round. I feel like I hit the jackpot on this one! It's a very small little shop, but they do have a variety of fish and other seafoods. They had Louisiana sausage as well. The scallops here looked humongous, so I might snag a few of those for a dinner one of these nights.

I recently visited Captain Daves for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I was so excited to find a wide variety of fish. Being from New England we were really craving fish. However, I was disappointed to find that most of the fish was frozen. We decided to purchase the fish. What a bad choice. This was the most fishy, off putting fish I had ever had. This unfortunatley was a one and done trip. Stay away from the frozen counter.

Bought two sacks of crawfish for a premium price and 10% were dead and rotten. Fresh?! Highly unlikely. Probably bought it from Fiesta for $2.49 and jacked it up to $3.75. Horrible!! GO TO ANOTHER SEAFOOD MARKETS AROUND TOWN.

Woah nelly, prices are high! I really do not see what people are talking about this place being fresh--and eating fish as sashimi from here? I wouldn't feel comfortable trying it. When I walked in, there was a definitely smell of fish in the air. Fresh fish does not smell. Now, I'm not saying there wasn't some fresh fish there, there was, but most of it wasn't as fresh as it could be, and some looked downright off. I got some crazy expensive clams, $14 for one meal's worth, for one person, to put on the grill. Those were good, but I could have gotten clams for two at the local Asian market for much less, and been equally good. Guy behind the counter, (Dave?), had a bit of a snide attitude. I would not come back.

I bought some wild caught shrimp (50-60/lb) from Dave last time I was in town to make my mom's fave: "Aw Shucks Shrimp Cocktail". When I bought it, Dave said he could get me the smaller shrimp similar to what Aw Shucks uses (over 90/lb, except that it wouln't be farm raised) if I called ahead. When I came to pick it up, it was not the fresh, smaller shrimp expected, but the frozen, Asian farm raised shrimp bags I generally avoid and can find at any supermarket. (I ended up buying the frozen, small gulf shrimp at Kroger and all was well.) I will try again on my next visit, as I really prefer to frequent the individual businessperson for seafood rather than the large supermarkets. Dave does have a lot of good seafood (outside of the farm raised shrimp) at his store.

Bravo Captain Dave's! Great service and product. Crab legs were a big hit for the 17 year olds bday celebration. He gave you a double thumbs up. The only disappointment is that we relocated here over 6 years ago and we wish we would have found you sooner. We'll be back often now that we've found your store.

Bought crawfish for a crawfish boil at home. It was 3.50/lb. They wouldn't tell me what size they were but showed me their cooked crawfish. Okay, some decent sized crawfish...however when I came back the next day to buy them they are tiny. Let me tell you they are field run size. Took a picture with a typical sponge so you guys can see. Also bought andouille sausage. It was freezer burned and had an expiration date of March 18, 2018. It's March 11, 2018. So after rinsing the crawfish off, about 15 dead ones... that's not too bad. Some places sell crawfish full of mud, sticks, and vegetation. Their crawfish were pretty clean. So mixed feelings about the place. Will come back again later into the crawfish season to retry this place.

11/22/19 Bought about 1.5 pounds of grouper which kind of smelled fishy brought full cooler of ice and added supplied ice. Put IN ice. 11/24/19 Pulled out of ice chest and started to defrost grouper. Rancid. Into trash.

Great selection of seafood. Great staff that is knowledgeable of their inventory. Great selection of seasonings and sides as well. Must try the crawfish boudin and the Cajun crab dip!!!

Hands down the best live crawfish we've ever purchased. Great size and quality sold by an extremely friendly and knowledgable staff. We have purchased many times before with equal results. I also purchase their crab dip, unfortunately it never makes it home for the rest of the family. Keep up the good work.

I have ordered live crawfish from Captain Dave's for years, their prices is a little bit higher but the quality was good and it is close to my home. But last year in May I went there to buy a sack, first they told me there is only half of a sack available, I said fine and while waiting for it, a worker told me there is a sack available, I thought I was lucky, when I went home and open it up, 25% of them were dead, the rest were hardly moving, Captain Dave's you tried to save a few bucks and lost a customer, very stupid!

Captain Dave's is the go to seafood market for all seafood but the crawfish in particular. Fantastic quality and freshest in town! The staff here is very helpful and friendly.

Cap'n Daves is a seafood specialty market just west of Hwy 75 off of Plano Pkwy in Plano. This smallish store with limited display casing has a pretty comprehensive frozen stock in the back. I like to get the flash frozen shrimp there (9-12ish count) and their fish is usually very fresh. This is also a good place to order sacks of crawfish- they only get the top quality varieties. Their prices are much better on average than Central Market or Whole Foods, but they're pricier than the Asian markets. I give four stars instead of five because their selection is somewhat limited and once, about seven years ago, I got some tuna steaks that weren't spoiled but they got mealy on the grill (probably frozen/thawed too many times).

Terrific spicy crab salad!!! Not much to add....they have a nice selection of fresh seafood and spices. When you visit you MUST sample the crab salad

I needed blue shell crabs they have them frozen pre-packaged they said 5-6 come per bag, our bag had 4 full crabs but I made the gumbo so all was well

Being from Maryland, and needing a crab fix, we REALLY wanted this place to work. After pre-ordering a bushel of #2 male crabs and 2 dozen oysters, we showed up at the recommended time on a busy holiday weekend, Labor Day. We were willing to pay the higher prices so that we wouldn't have to drive around to various markets looking for male crabs. We transferred all of the crabs to ice chests for the long ride home and found 6 dead ones. When my husband approached the manager for replacements or refund he was treated extremely disrespectfully by the manager. It's a shame because we would have sent a lot of folks his way and, heck, we just dropped $285 and he was too stingy to simply replace or refund for those 6 crabs. Bad business, bad customer service. After all Captain Dave you did charge me per pound for LIVE crabs!!!

We got here at 5:58, they close at 6... The door was locked and the lady came out to tell us she had already shut down the register and would not sell us any fish. We will not be returning.

We bought 2 pounds salmon sashimi. SO FRESH!! Love it.

Came here to purchase lump crab meat to make crab cakes for my Baltimore bred boyfriend and I was more than pleased. About $22 for a pound of lump crab which is way cheaper than the Philippine caught crab in the cans at the grocery store and much fresher and sweeter. The employees were extremely sweet and greeted me the moment I walked in. Excellent customer service, and I will be returning.

My boyfriend and I stumbled in one night and they happened to be closed already but they stayed open to help us and were super helpful and nice!!! We got lobster tails, cat fish, and scallops..... all were super freah and soooooooo good!!!!! We will definitely be back and cant wait to try more of their selection!!!! They also said that they can get this one type of clam i love from back home in New Jersey called Steamers which you CAN'T find anywhere else down here!!! I cant wait to get them as well!!!! I'm so glad we found them!!!!!

I've never been in the place but my husband went by to pick up a 30 pd bag of craw-fish. Great price, customer service was not friendly BUT the craw-fish were amazing!!! Best load we've ever seen, huge and taste GREAT!!

I buy seafood here almost every weekend. They always have a great selection and everything is very fresh. Don't be turned off by the small storefront, they have almost anything you need in the back. We hold an annual crawfish boil with 100+ attendees and I always order my crawfish from Captain Dave's as well. If you are price shopping this place is not the cheapest, but if you want selection, freshness, and quality you found the right place. I highly recommend for any foodie or chef.

As my wife said, Great Seafood and Fresh Gulf Oysters were really good! Great place and cannot wait for Crawfish Season! A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A
