10 Chicago Bars for Refreshing Summer Cocktails | Eater

"This latest venture from the team behind Nine Bar is a small corner of the Mediterranean coast in the heart of Logan Square. Spend a leisurely summer evening nibbling on a plate of cheese or olives, perhaps accompanied by a Night Cap, which mixes Zacapa Rum No. 23 with the Cara Cara Club’s house vermouth and bitters blend before garnishing with a citrus peel." - Vox Creative

The Owners of Chinatown Megahit Nine Bar Unleash a New Logan Square Cocktail Lair | Eater Chicago

"I visited the bright, breezy cocktail bar that channels the effortless ease of the Italian coast — the sophomore venture from Chicago bar veterans Lily Wang and Joe Briglio that opened on June 15 — where amari and vermouths are pushed toward tropical flavors in a sunny corner space intentionally opposite the couple’s dark, moody Chinatown spot. The room has been transformed (Ninja Turtles posters removed) into one with Venetian-plaster–style walls, filmy curtains, framed vintage-style paintings and posters, a long 21-seat bar and tiered stadium seating, and music programmed by Antonio Robles with a focus on Italo disco, French house, and Neapolitan funk. The cocktail menu leans on clarified drinks and the interplay of bitter and tropical-fruit flavors — for example the Fortune Teller (Montenegro, pandan, sumac, orange, Thai coconut milk) and the rye-based St. Tropez (Cappeletti, Amaro Nonino, French cantaloupe, citrus) — alongside mix-and-match highballs (blackberry sherry with sparkling water; strawberry bitter with ginger beer) and a house-classics lineup that includes four versions each of negronis, Mahattans, martinis, and frizzantis built from blended vermouths. Wade Hall remains a partner in the venture, snacks debuted with conservas, cheese, and cured meats, and chef Jordan Ross plans to expand the food menu to crudos, burgers, and pressed sandwiches on bread from neighboring La Boulangerie." - Naomi Waxman

Do NOT sleep on the martinis. Absolutely killer.

Place has a speakeasy disco vibe. On a Sat the DJ was spinning real vinyl with jazz, 80s, and similar to create a chill vibe. The disco balls helped as well. Though I always appreciate unique cocktails and this place falls nothing short of a tasty twist. Order from Olven. He was very helpful and kind.

We stopped by for drinks and they were delicious! The espresso martini was excellent with a thick foam on top, almost pudding like. Service was quick and attentive. The vibes were excellent and they have a nice patio too, and I can’t wait to return and sit inside.

We stumbled across this gem! Jack, the bartender was informative and a cool dude! I nick named him “Jack Attack” because he attacked the shakers with a purpose. Exceptional cocktails and as a plus, the Hamms made for many smiles. Go see “Jack Attack” and the sensational cocktail menu!

Google
10/10! It has everything, but not too much of it - meaning, it’s not a super packed loud club where you can’t talk to anyone. Cara Cara Club is a chill, well decorated bar with friendly bartenders, cool DJs, indoor/outdoor seating, and a great cocktail menu. They also serve some good wines.

I've had plenty of cocktails at Cara Cara, which have always been creative, well-balanced, and impressive. my favorite is the Fortune Teller! but today I was able to stop in during the cafe hours and absolutely fell in love with the baklava-inspired Turkish Matcha Latte. I don't typically order matcha lattes out and stick to making them at home because they can be difficult to do well and pricey, but I had some faith because of how great their cocktails are, and I was very intrigued in this flavor combo as a baklava lover. it was so, so good. all of the flavors came through without being too sweet or overpowering the matcha, even the pistachio and walnut. the color was perfect and the dried orange garnish was a thoughtful, eye catching touch. it truly tasted as good as it looked and I will absolutely return for another. the service was great as well and much faster than we expected for a farmers market sunday. thank you to cara cara club for another excellent drink!

Google
Such a great additional to the square. They had big shoes to fill stepping into the Big Kids space but the team at CC Club has done an awesome job of making the space their own, curating the vibe, and creating a truly unique space in the Chicago cocktail scene! Interior is bright and breezy but kind of an old world charm to it, think tropical library vibes... a la Floridita en Cuba (think Hemmingway, this is a compliment). The menu is a great mix of classics (spins on negroni/martini/manhattan/spritzs) and really vibrant complex original cocktails that make you feel like youre on a beach somewhere. Happy hour is pretty solid too, as are the mix and match highballs. Most recently visited on a busy Sunday (TY farmers market) and the service seemed a little understaffed, but otherwise everything about this place is spot on. The Fortune Teller is absolutely amazing (obsessed with the Pandan in there).. Loved the Del Boca Vista... had a few sips of Venetian Blinds and Midnight in Milan which were great as well. Looks like they are working on expanding the food menu from snacky bits to some more substantial options, but for now I'm loving the cocktail bar menu/vibe.

First time at this spot and adored it!!! Loved the $10 highballs. A great pregame spot before hitting the clubs in Milwaukee.

Lovely place for a night out with friends or on a date! I’ve been several times and am always blown away by the level of intention put behind this new Logan square spot. Mix of listening bar/dance club (sounds incredible with hi fi speakers and great DJs) and cocktail lounge (drinks are beautifully done with a diverse mix of classics and unique options). They began operating as a cafe during the morning (bonus)! Classic Midwest hospitality A+ and one of the best in the city right now.

Yelp
Woah, this place is fun. A perfect date night spot if you want something up beat! The vibes feel beachy and coastal. But, not palm tree beachy. No, it's yacht clubs and aperol spritz beachy. Like you're on the italian coast living the life of an heir to a billionaire. Elegant, effortless, smooth. Oh, and my drink was much of the same. I went with the canary islands. Nothing like mixing tequila with coastal vibes. A boozy concoction with italicus and mango. So, it had the fruity notes with the herbal, slightly bitter notes of italicus. A really solid drink. The bar tenders were slinging and I loved it. They were nice and grinding away. An amazing spot all around!

Yelp
Food: we did not eat here, however, we did order one round of cocktails. My friend ended up ordering an old fashioned and I ordered a mocktail. The mocktail was great! I love that this bar had an option for mocktails. It was perfect mix of sweet and sour. 10/10 Service: all the bartenders were very attentive. We were greeted quickly when we sat at the bar. When a bartender took our order, another was pouring us waters (we didn't order waters but it was good to have some on hand). 10/10 Ambiance: the bar was small, but cute inside. We came around 6:30 so there was enough sitting for two people pretty quickly because we just walked in. There wasn't a hostess but it wasn't too difficult to find seating. The music wasn't too loud so it was easy to hear my friend. 10/10 Overall: 30/30 - would go here again for a cocktail or mocktail again.

Yelp
This 60s inspired discotheque bar with an emphasis on Amaro quickly became one of our favorite spots. Amari are a broad class of Italian liqueur centered around bitter and earthy notes, balanced with sweeteners and diluted to an easy drinking ABV. This place was incredible and a perfect balance between crafted cocktails and fun fancy vibes Negroni bianco: 5/5 a perfect classic cocktail. Not too sweet, not too bitter with a lovely finish of lemon oil Fortune teller: 5/5: we are obsessed with clarified cocktails in this one did not disappoint. Using coconut milk to clarify, gives it a deliciously, sweet and tropical base that blends perfectly with pandan and sumac

Yelp
We had wonderful drinks here before dinner. A great spot to catch y up over delicious cocktails. I had the Canary Islands which I was afraid would be too sweet but it was amazing!

Yelp
Happy to see that Big Boys is replaced with something similarly cool. Very good cocktails here and a knowledgeable staff that could walk you through the creation of their cocktails. It's a laidback bar, not too loud and not dark at all. Very much suiting for an early afternoon quick drink. Welcome to Logan Square.

Yelp
The espresso martini, decor, and welcoming atmosphere is enough to make me want to come back to Cara Cara Club. My husband and I stopped by around 5:30pm on a Friday night. There was a good crowd there during most of the time we were there, but there still were available seats. I had passed by the night before after 9:30pm on a Thursday night and there were many people standing, so I would imagine the place gets busier as the night goes on. I have tried many espresso martinis around the city and have my favorites, but the dalgona foam on top really helps this one stand out. I also tried the black manhattan and was a big fan of it as well. I will be keeping Cara Cara on my rotation of Logan Square bars and look forward to inviting more friends to join me in the future.

Yelp
Cara cara gives a great face! The menu consists of small bites and great drinks. The Negroni was on point! The manhattan was smokey like a forest fire. The crew is friendly and can offer great suggestions. This is quite the looker

Yelp
Met some friends here on at 6pm on a Monday night for cocktails before heading off for dinner around the corner. We were greeted by a bouncer who checked our identification before allowing us entry. Perhaps it's a necessity to have someone like that watching the door at a Logan Square bar, but it seemed a little off-putting. Beside our group of six, there were a half-dozen other customers sitting around the L-shaped bar. The bar area is beautiful and well-designed. The only detail in the room that seemed off-note were the tiny panel curtains that were visually overwhelmed by the large floor-to-ceiling windows. The bartender was attentive and friendly. My husband ordered a South of the Border that he said was very good. I was not drinking, so I ordered a non-alcoholic Prickly Pear Swizzle. It was a little too sweet for my taste, but it was expertly prepared and beautifully presented with a large sprig of mint. Our friends arrived earlier, so they already had their cocktails, and they seemed to be pleased with what they had ordered. We did not try any food, but the menu looks good. Cara Cara is probably a lot busier on Friday night and weekends, but it is a great place to hang or have a cocktail before heading off to dinner.

Yelp
This place is awesome, I highly recommend stopping in for a few apps and cocktails. Staff is friendly and space is very cute (some outdoor seating as well).

Yelp
We were disappointed after seeing such good reviews. My husband had the 24hrs in Singapore (just tasted like fruit juice with LOTS of extra ice) and I had the Fortune Teller, which tasted like it wanted to be complex, but it was just a mish mosh of icky flavors. Both drinks cost $15/each. We actually came for tapas since we heard it was a tapas bar, and we were also disappointed in the choices. Most offerings were with toast, which tasted great, but there was no variety for people that want to stay away from bread. ‍ The conservas were all unavailable, which left the two small plate orders-olives and bottarga toast and then the charcuterie. The olives weren't amazing, just olives with lemon zest. The bottarga toast had a nice crème fraiche on it with - also - a lot of lemon zest. See a trend? Finally, the charcuterie. We both got nice plates with more bread and our choice of cheese and meat and this was probably the only thing we liked. The mustard and jam was yummy and the plate came with caper and peppers which were a delicious accoutrement. Service came from the counter and they were going through a shift change, so there was some confusion as to how we get our food. The ambiance is kind of cool, but it was kind of dirty inside. My take: if you want to call yourselves a small plate establishment, get a little more diversity, and certainly if you want to be known for good cocktails, you've got to make them well.

Yelp
Loved, loved the vibe! Went on Saturday night and they had amazing cocktails and music. There was a diverse crowd of all ages, making it a great bar for all positive vibrating people. They had Noshaluv as the DJ and she kept us there all night. I've heard her in other places and she has a very diverse range of music which I love. The music was not too loud so you could hold a conversation, or enjoy the great music and dance. Did I mention the cocktails? Yum! I'll be back.

Yelp
The best place. An amazing addition to the neighborhood and fits the space perfectly. It's decorated beautifully and their menu is incredible. The cocktails are out of this world!! There's something for everyone and the vibe is just feel-good. The owners, bartenders and everyone else working there are just good people. You won't be disappointed I promise!

Yelp
Wonderful time, the martinis were insanely good! Our guy was the best part of the meal, he made the experience 10/10.

Yelp
A beautiful music bar! Awesome and fast service with some of Chicago's best cocktails Definitely the right choice for that location. 10/10
