11 Nashville Latin American Restaurants Worth Visiting | Eater Nashville

"This buzzy little kiosk at the Nashville Farmers Market churns out Venezuelan classics that keep locals coming back for seconds and thirds. This no-frills operation produces some seriously good eats—including the arepas, and sweet cornmeal pancakes stuffed with savory fillings like cheese, avocado, pork, and beef. Feel free to wash down the cachitos and golfeados (sticky buns) with some chicha, a traditional Venezuelan drink made from rice and condensed milk." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Google
Best Venezuelan food in Nashville! My hubby and I have been coming here as our go-to arepa spot since we moved from Florida a couple years ago. The arepas are so tasty and filling. My favorite is the black bean with green sauce. Thanks for making our weekends a little brighter with a great treat to continuously look forward to! 🙏🏼💚

Google
Caracasville serves fresh made arepas and empanadas that pack good flavors and amazing texture! The foods can be heavy and greasy so have plenty of napkins!

Jane Wood

Google
My family loves the arepas. My picky eating five year old always asks to eat here when we see the truck at the Farmer's Market.

Kayla Stuart

Google
Best arepa I've ever had before in my life! Such amazing Venezuelan food! They also have fresh mango juice. We got the shark empanada and it was sooooo good. I highly recommend eating here when you go to the farmers market. Great job!

Gabriel Olmedo

Google
Arepa was ok. All the ingredients were mixed inside but tasted good. I didn’t love the tequeños because the cheese was so liquid and unflavored. Very white and cremy. I don’t know if that was cheese or cream cheese ( in one point I thought it was raw dough.🤢But i didn’t enjoy them. Service was great and fast.

Thais Gaal

Google
The best empanadas, the chicha glorious, and I can't forget the papelon and the arepas If you are planning to go to Nashville, you need to plan to go and enjoy.

Jeremy Cox

Google
Pop-up restaurant at my workplace today. Chicken arepa was very good! Cilantro and spicy sauces were amazing. My first experience with Venezuelan food did not disappoint. I hope to find them around again sometime.

Google
Ok, I am Venezuelan which is where this wonderful food comes from. Arepa is like our bread, specially for breakfast. I live in Miami and we have way too many Venezuelan food trucks, but no one had gave me that nostalgic home flavour as I had here. This is the closest I have gotten to HOME. We tried the pork arepa (pernil) which isn't like a regular pork its marinated in citrusy juices super good. And we also tried the cachapa, the dough was amazing! Defitnely the closest and the homemade cheese was the great detail. P.S who knew in Nashville I would find such a gem from our country. Service was awesome, we will defitnely come back just to eat again and my future goal is to work for them if they take me ;D

Yelp
Best Arepas hands down! I get the shredded beef arepa and it never disappoints. Only thing I would add as a point of improvement would be to include utensils with the arepas. They're massive and messy so I have to go ask other food establishments for a fork because Caracasville does not give you one. Other than that great place to eat at.

Yelp
Great Venezuelan food truck parked outside the Nashville Farmer's Market. Almost all their food is marked gluten free since it's made with corn flour! I wanted a pork rice bowl but they were sold out for the day. Instead I got a beef rice bowl, beef and cheese empanda and a cachapa. I'd recommend skipping the rice bowls since the beef was a little on the dry side. The beef and cheese empanada was good though! Came out piping hot and fresh! The cachapa was interesting! It was basically a big corn pancake filled with cheese and folded in half! First time having this dish and it was pretty good! Overall I'd recommend this spot if you're near the Bicentennial Park and Farmer's Market area! Next time I want to try the arepas!

Yelp
My mother and I found this hidden gem while walking around the Nashville Farmer's Market yesterday and would 100% recommend!! Not only were the owners and employees super friendly, the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered a chorizo and cheese empanada and would recommend. She got the bean arepa and said she loved it. Be sure to try their cilantro sauce with whatever you order as it's incredible! Also, we really appreciated how they had many gluten-free options to choose from at a very affordable price! We'll definitely be back. Try Caracasville if you have the chance! You won't be disappointed :))
google avatar

Tonisha B.

Yelp
The empanadas and arepas are excellent! The service was great and quick too. Everything was cooked fresh to order and did not disappoint at all. I had the chicken and cheese empanada and the arepa with chicken, cheese and tomatoes.

Yelp
This food truck is awesome and selfishly I feel like they need a second location here in Mount Juliet! I went with a shredded beef arepa, and four empanadas; plain cheese, black bean, pork and a chicken aempanada. The arepa was delish and loaded with beef, cheese, and black beans. This was a Latin comfort food flavor explosion. My only very small complaint was the amount of grease that was on this sandwich. Maybe it was from the cheese? Ok, all of the empanadas were amazing, literally not a bad one in the bunch. Crunchy, huge and fully loaded with meat or cheeses. My favorite, surprisingly was the black bean and cheese empanada. After shopping at the Farmers' Market or strolling through Bicentennial Park, hit up Caracasville food truck for some delicious Venezuela eats!

Yelp
So damn good! Food was so fresh and juicy, wow . A must go for sure, you will not be dissatisfied.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Visiting town and forgot that I was going to try to find them since their food is gluten free, then stumbled on them at the farmers market. I had two empanadas, chicken and plantains, with red and green sauces. They were huge and AMAZING. I wish I could eat these everyday! Might go back tomorrow and get some to fly home with. That good
google avatar

Yelp
Located at the farmers market, Caracasvilles' food was amazing. First off, the portions were huge and arepa packed with ingredients. While the arepa was greasy, it was filled with beans, chorizo, plantains and cheese. Definitely get the cilantro sauce to pair with. The beef empanadas are definitely heavier but were still delicious. Overall, food was tasty and flavorful.

Kaitlyn T.

Yelp
I love this food. It is vegetarian and gluten free friendly. I recommend trying all the different sauces and options. The domino arepa is my favorite and the spicy sauce!! Wishing the best for the hard working owners.
google avatar

Grant E.

Yelp
The beef arepa is absolute cash money delicious. A beautifully stuffed pocket jam packed with shredded beef, beans, plantains, cheese and more. While a bit messy it's absolutely worth it. This is the main attraction at the farmers market and a must stop for anyone in the area.

Yelp
All the yes to this food truck. I'm sadden at the fact that I just recently went to the Nashville farmers market for the first time. I'm missing out on all the good eats. I stumbled upon this place on my way out. I was so excited. I love arepas esp silly when they're filled. I will say I was saddened by the price. Expensive. The mango juice was on point. Very refreshing. The arepa itself was so flavorful. The cilantro and garlic sauce are amazing. Can't wait to come back by. Didn't take a pic of my food. Too good.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place and am slightly addicted. I go most weekends. I normally get the pork arepa, though sometimes I switch it up and get the cheese and pork empanada. I also love the cachapas. The food is all made to order and truly just great. The people who work there are super nice too. I go so often that they know my order. Love their story too. Immigrants who came here and had to start over and have worked super hard for what they have. Just great food and great people. Yep
google avatar

Cherelle J.

Yelp
Ordered the beef arepa at the night market . It's basically like a sandwich and came with shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains and cheese. My husband loooooved it. It was a little to heavy and greasy for me. We also ordered a mango juice which was tasty. I would definitely try other items.
google avatar

Steph G.

Yelp
We ordered the chicken arepa and chorizo black bean empanada. The arepa is good and overflowing with meat and cheese. It was fine but I think I'd try a different one if we went back. The empanada is very flaky and greasy , but tasty. I don't think I'd order one again. The highlight was their blended cilantro sauce. Def fun to try while at the farmers market but not sure I'd get again.
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
The empanadas were amazing! They were much bigger than I thought they would be, so even better value for the cost. They're about the length of your hand and half as wide. I got two and couldn't finish them. Of the two I would recommend the plantain and cheese empanada option more. Delicious blend that was not overly sweet. The other one I got was their chicken empanada. They have a chicken and cheese as an option, which might have a more interesting taste/combination flavor (and the cashier did ask if I was sure I didn't want that one instead). That being said, it's nice to have a plain option for the more picky eaters out there (myself included). Quick and friendly service. This is something I would travel to have again or intentionally work into a visit to the city, which is my definition of a five rating.

Yelp
Wow. THE. BEST. FOOD. TRUCK. EVER! It was my first time trying and everything was on point to the sauces! Highly recommended this place. Located in the Nashville farmers market Friday, Saturday, & Sunday!

Kayley G.

Yelp
The food is so incredible I come to the farmers market every weekend just to get this food truck. The owners are so kind and hardworking I love seeing their faces
google avatar

Darwin P.

Yelp
Loved the menu of this food truck. I lived in Caracas six years so grab the food anywhere I can. The cachapa con Pernil was a treat. Wait was very long, hence only 4 stars.

Yelp
Stopped by here last weekend when I was at the Nashville Farmers Market. I love all the different types of restaurants that set up shop at the Farmers Market, and Caracasville was new to me, so I had to try it. I ordered a beef arepa, which came stuffed with shredded beef, black beans, cheddar cheese and fried plantains. I really enjoyed the flavors of the slow cooked meat, and I think if you order an arepa here, beef is the way to go. My cousin had the chorizo, which looked good but ended up being on the greasy side, causing the sandwich to fall apart in the end. What really took the arepa to the next level were the three sauces. Each sauce had a different flavor profile, but each one equally complimented the stuffed arepa. My personal favorite was the green cilantro sauce. I really enjoyed my lunch that day; I just wish there was a couple more slices of fried plantains inside! Not that they were skimping--I just love plantains. I'll be interested to see if they ever expand their menu in the future!

Yelp
Caracasville is a food truck specializing in South American food and is typically located at the Nashville Farmer's Market. I eat here whenever I get a chance and find their arepas to be some of the best comfort food in all of Nashville. My favorite arepa is the veggie version, which includes black beans, avocado, and fried plantains. They also have three excellent sauce options, so be sure to request sauces on the side with your order. The arepas have a lot of filling (bring napkins!). For dining, there are tables near the truck in the outdoor portion of the farmer's market.
google avatar

Elsa G.

Yelp
As a Cuban-American from Miami living in Nashville I've been missing my delicious Latin foods. Enter Caracasville. Oh my goodness. The sweet plantains! The arepas! The black beans! I'm in heaven. The flavors here are bold and vibrant. Empanadas come in so many varieties. We've ordered the pork bowl, the pork arepa, chicken arepa, ground beef and cheese empanada, chorizo and cheese empanada, and the tequeños. If you like cheese, get the tequeños. These are like mozzarella sticks but instead of being breaded, the cheese is wrapped in a kind of light pizza dough-type bread. So good. Everything is great and very filling. So happy to have them in the Nashville food scene.
google avatar

Sheena T.

Yelp
This delightful food truck at the Farmer's market is fantastic and I highly recommend that you stop in to sample some of their authentic South American food! They make arepas and empanadas to order, so be prepared for a 15 minute wait if they are busy, but it is well worth it! I sampled the shredded chicken, chorizo, and pork areapas. The shredded chicken came with a ton of avocado and was a little bit milder in flavor. The chorizo was greasy but was probably my favorite. It came with plantains which I thought might be too sweet, but added a nice texture and additional flavor that offset the spiciness. The pork was also great; you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! They also have 3 different kinds of sauces to go on top and the orange one was so spicy and amazing. It was definitely my favorite! I also liked the green herb one, but the white sauce was a little bland. The staff is really friendly and I was super pleased with my meal. Caracasville is the real deal!

Yelp
I've never been to the Night Market at the Nashville Farmer's Market before, and it was a great time! After doing my usual walk through I decided that I wanted to try something new. I decided on Caracasville because of their unique menu choices and the food looked amazing! I ended up getting a bottle of water and a pork arepa for around $9. The beef arepa had a pink mayo based sauce and tomato. The food truck had three additional sauces to use on anything, and I think the white garlic sauce was the best. The wait ended up being a little longer than usual for a food truck, but the menu specifies that the wait is 10-15 mins. The beef was so juicy and the outer bun was AMAZING! This was a great portion for a meal, and I want to try their chicken salad one with avocado next time.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
If you enjoy any type of Latin cuisine you have to try this truck. Holy Snikes was it awesome, and having a gluten-free wife, I could share it with makes it top notch!
google avatar

YJ L.

Yelp
Love their generously filled sweet-plantain & cheese empanada & The passion fruit juice is made so well!
google avatar

Hattie J.

Yelp
I ordered the chicha and pork arepa. The chicha was just okay. It's a drink made with boiled rice, condensed milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I felt like it was too thick to drink, and I'm not sure if there's anything they could have done to thin it out, but that would have made it much better! The flavor was there though! The pork in the arepa was great....bursting with flavor. I also really like the grilled dough they used for it. It is messy though because the juices from the pork and red sauce they put on it drip everywhere, so, make sure you grab plenty of napkins!
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
If you are a foody find this truck. We found them at the farmers market on a Sunday. Really enjoyed the Beef Empanda and Beef and Cheese Arepa. If you like latin food, you'll love this truck. While your at the Farmers market head across the street to the beautiful bicentennial park

Karina P.

Yelp
UPDATE: From 5 to 3. Last two visits were not great. Those three stars are for the tequeños It would have been one star if I'd only had the Pork Rice Bowl which needed to be drenched in the sauce to barely get any flavor. Not a good sign. I hope they can pull back up--this was one of my favorite places in town!
google avatar

Abigail S.

Yelp
I stopped here just as they were about to close and they were so nice to let me order anyway! I had the black bean arepa and the cachapas. Both were outstanding. The arepa had a nice char from the grill and the black beans in it were well seasoned. The cilantro sauce went perfectly with everything. And the cachapas, holy wow. Delicious
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
If you're trying to decide where to eat at the Nashville Farmer's Market, just do yourself a favor and EAT HERE!!! The empanadas and arepas are to die for. Ask for the green and red sauces to dip everything in - you won't regret it. I KNOW something's good when my extremely picky boyfriend begs to eat here. Just make sure not to go too late or you'll be disappointed to find they've run out of everything and have closed.
google avatar

Jan Gabriel P.

Yelp
A long line but worth the wait. Their arepas are good. They just need to up the work and construction of the arepas.

Adrian M.

Yelp
Killer food and good people and it's gluten free to boot. Hard not to love. I had an empanada and a arepa.
google avatar

TJ G.

Yelp
I love this place, great vegan/vegetarian options and fresh ingredients. I love how they don't skimp out on their servings. ALL of their sauces are amazing!
google avatar

Yanni C.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! One of my favorite things that I had while I was down in Nashville. The sauces are good, the arepas loaded, and the empanadas, kind of oily but still delicious! The rice is kind of thick, doesn't mix that well with all the ice cubes that are in the cup makes for a weird experience. But overall, I enjoyed this place so much that I would definitely come back next time I am in Nashville!
google avatar

Danielle R.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place every time I visit the market, so today I finally gave it. It was pretty tasty. I believe the arepas are what's popular here, so next time I'll give that a try!
google avatar

Ilana F.

Yelp
It does take awhile (they claim 15 mins from when you order) considering it's from a food truck, but definitely delicious and worth it. My favorite is the arepa with plantains, black beans and avocados though both chicken ones are good too. Everyone we've taken there so far has enjoyed. Watch out though--very messy.

ahmed s.

Yelp
By far the best Arepa you can get in Nashville! Give it a try you won't be disappointed. Friendly service and even better food!
google avatar

Caitlin N.

Yelp
YUM. I got the beef arepa when Caracasville was serving lunch at my office (via Fooda) and it was THE BEST. I hope they come back soon!
google avatar

Alexander M.

Yelp
I'm from Venezuela, and it was just amazing finding caracasville in nashville. I will recommend you the arepa stuffed with shredded meat, plantains, and Gouda cheese. You can't go wrong with that.

Jillianne G.

Yelp
Amazing! Visiting in town and walked all the way to the farmers market to find most of it closed for New Years but this made the walk worth it! Authentic and gluten free! Best arepas we have had in the United States!
google avatar

George L.

Yelp
Catch them when you can. They are only at the Downtown Farmer's Market once a month. The arepas are chock full cheese and meat. They are grilled fresh, so it takes a good 10-15 minutes if crowded. The sauces are thick and substantial. I also liked the fresh mango juice.
google avatar

Bryce T.

Yelp
This might be a little controversial, but after trying both this place and the Colombian pop-up that also happens in the same space on different weekends, I think I prefer the Colombian pop-up's arepas. While Caracasville's were definitely pretty good, I just don't think they measured up - at least the ones I ordered. I got two different arepas: the chorizo and the pulled-pork. To start I want to note as in my previous review of the Colombian pop-up that one arepa is probably enough, but I am a little bit of a pig and also wanted to try multiple fillings. Now onto the food...First, the chorizo arepa was delicious, but it was made with a Mexican style chorizo that tends to be quite greasy. Thus, while the taste was good, I can't really conceive of a way to eat this without making a total mess of oneself. While that is not exactly a deal-breaker, I suppose, it certainly was a negative for me as actively avoiding dripping grease all over myself is not one of my favorite eating pastimes. As for the pulled-pork, I did not really like it, but I put that one on me. Let me explain. The pulled-pork tasted exactly like what you would expect pulled-pork sold in Tennessee to taste like, which, for me, was unexpected as I ordered it from a Venezuelan restaurant. While I expected it to be more like a carnitas type spice, it simply tasted like Tennessee barbeque. There is nothing inherently wrong with that, though, it was just unexpected and I don't particularly care for pork barbeque. Thus, while it was good for what it was, I just did not really care for it. If I go back, I think I will try their vegetarian black bean arepa next as one of the people in my group got that and said it was very good. In the end, their arepas themselves were perhaps a little better than the Colombian restaurant's, but the fillings (at least the ones I ordered) were nowhere close to as good. That being said, they were still quite good and their salsas were also delicious. My suggestion, try both places and decide for yourself as both were tasty and it is kind of fun (at least I thought so) to try two takes on the same dish made in the same space by different people. Also, you should probably be going to the Farmer's Market more anyways!

Andy R.

Yelp
Good price, good service, great food. Empanadas made fresh is something you can't find everywhere.
google avatar

R L.

Yelp
What a great little pop up restaurant. I had chicken arepas for the first time. The empanadas were also very tasty. OMG I have been missing out. The sauces on the side were so good. The food is great, service seemed a little slow but the food is worth the wait. I can't wait to go back to Nashville again, I'll be back!

Jane A.

Yelp
Located in the food court in the Nashville Farmers Market, Caracasville is a real gem. We both got the chicken arepa and a fabulous drink called a chicha. The arepa had tender shredded chicken in a bit of nuanced sauce, sweetened cooked plaintains, black beans, and shredded cheese. These ingredients are all enveloped in a freshly cooked arepa, a grilled round gluten-free corn flour patty. Very satisfying and filling. We thoroughly savored the chicha - a thick creamy drink of boiled rice, milk, sugar, and condensed milk, served with ice and cinnamon on top. Wonderful friendly service! Reasonable prices. There are lots of great options at the Farmers Market, but be sure to stop in at Caracasville for a snack or a meal!
google avatar

Terry T.

Yelp
Was so yummy. Venezuelan at its best! Loved to pink sauce and the homemade bread. From what I understand, they are only available through food trucks or though carrying, but definitely try them if you get a chance.

Paez C.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise to find this awesome Venezuelan Arepas rellenas spot at the Nashville Farmer's market while working out close to our hotel. The arepas are super, super fresh and their staff was very nice too! Very clean place. I had the chicken arepa and my hubby had the pork one with mozzarella cheese. We could not try the arepa pepiada one as they didn't have it at the time but I'm sure it would have been delicious too. When craving something original, tasty and fresh in the Nashville Metro area, look no further. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Jazzy D.

Yelp
I had the Arepas and it was just too thick for me. They limit the meat and over load with beans (terrible) and cheese(good) hat you can hardly taste the meat. So the beans juice soak through the bread it just wasn't good. For $10 and a drink.....save your money and go to a Mexican eatery.

Jason F.

Yelp
We were just walking through the Nashville Farmers Market trying to decide a place for lunch. The smells coming out of Caracasville pulled me in. The beef and the chicken arepas did not disappoint. A great little place.
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
I went too close to closing and they were out of arepas. We had the empanadas, and they were good, though a little greasy. I've been longing for the sandwich for some time, so it was a downer, but we will be back.
