Google
This was by far my favorite place. During my visit to Salem on the weekend before Halloween. Every day that I went I would get the flan, the vanilla eclair is delicious as well. My wife got the pistachio cake. It was good also. This is a must stop but you have to go early because they sell out

Jason

Google
Macarons are hit or miss.. pumpkin ones were perfect. Light smooth texture on the cake bits, and nice flavorful creamy center. Also tried the raspberry and birthday cake which were just .. ok... Tiramisu was a good mid grade. May hit up another bakery in the area next time.

Google
My wife loves macarons, so after spotting this place we walked across Salem to try it and sit down for a bit. When we arrived, neither employee — including what seemed to be the owner — greeted us. We got our macarons and another dessert, but they were out of baguettes, even though it was only around noon. As we sat, we noticed signs saying “this table closed” or “for paying customers only,” which felt unwelcoming. Later that evening, every table had a sign. If you don’t want to be in the customer service business, don’t open a bakery.

Google
Cute little shop to pop in and take a break from all of the action on Essex Street…It was recommended by the staff at the Peabody Essex Museum. The raspberry macaron was so delicious! Plus, the staff working here are so kind :))

Sirius H.

Google
The croissant are perfectly crisp outside and elastic inside, and the pastries taste as good as they look. Definitely worth a visit.

Keanne M.

Google
We ordered 6 desserts: eclair, fruit tart, hazelnut paris brest, s'mores macaron, pumpkin cheesecake, & key lime pie. The hazelnut and key lime pie were the only desserts that got finished. The vanilla custard in the eclair and fruit tart unfortunately tasted like it was made with an expired ingredient. The macaron and cheesecake were dry and the multiple flavors didn't enhance or compliment each other.

Google
This patisserie is wonderful!!! The service is very nice and the macarons and pastries are top tier and very authentic! Be sure you visit this place when you're in town. It's absolutely worth it.

Google
As soon as I seen this spot I HAD to make a stop! I’m a huge fan of macaroons and this spot in Salem did not disappoint! They all were very good, tasted fresh and authentic (not those pre made macaroons you pull out of the freezer to sell). The service was great, I found everyone very welcoming and nice even tho the environment was a bit hectic due to Halloween weekend in Salem. If you have a sweet tooth for French pastries and in Salem this is a must for you!

Yelp
What a cute little spot for delicious sweet treats in Salem! French macarons are my favorite sweet splurge. The macarons were perfectly made - crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside, and the fillings were distinct without being too overpowering, which can sometimes be the case with flavors like rose and lavender. I also got the apple turnover - the puff pastry was so high with layers, very light and flaky. The filling was a little different than I expected, it was more of a smooth apple paste than a chunky apple pie filling.

Yelp
The long line was intimidating, but moved fairly quickly! The fruit tart I had was delicious, and my friends enjoyed their macaroons & other sweet treats!
google avatar

Devin V.

Yelp
Pastries were both beautifully presented but also tasted rich and wonderful! I tried the key lime pie and it was a perfect key lime flavor. Be warned there isn't a ton of seating, especially on busy days, so I recommend taking it to go! They also have a huge assortment of macarons.

Yelp
I wish I was hungrier! That's the toughest part of vacation - I want to eat everything, but I fail to do so and I just can't bear to waste (food or money). My kiddo got the delicious pain au chocolate and was so happy with it - and he's had a few. Their display case was beautiful and I wanted to try so much! There was a local there ordering, who seemed to come in regularly, which means a lot to me that it's not just a tourist spot.
google avatar

Katherine B.

Yelp
We came in late so many of the pastries were already sold but the few that were left looked gorgeous. We got the macarons and they were delicious! My two year old daughter loved them too, and there was a cute small area to sit!
google avatar

Marina S.

Yelp
Delicious desserts! I've got this berry tart (the last one), and it was perfect. Location is convenient, not far from the main tourist spots

Louis L.

Yelp
The pastries were exceptional and tasted and looked like the baker had passion for their work. The dining space is small. The reception and service was fair. The corner building window views were an asset. This a is a place to stop in for a homemade pastry when visiting Salem.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing!! Stoped twice in one day during our trip. Macarons, fruit tart and key lime pie were delicious! Must stop

Yelp
I was very excited to try out this downtown patisserie and it lived up to its name. They have about 10 full sized pastry offerings that all looked stunning. We tried a few things: the St. Honoré (basically a cream puff in a ring shape with salted caramel toppers) and the dessert of the day - which today was a tiramisu bomb. The tiramisu was absolutely perfect- light and not too overwhelmingly coffee flavored or too cloyingly sweet. The St. Honoré was sweet but also light and yummy. Then I got 6 macarons based on everyone's glowing reviews. Honestly, I didn't like them. The texture was too chewy (they stuck to my teeth) and most of the flavors were too sweet, bland and almost...medicinal? I ended up tossing them which was a disappointment. But I would eat their pastries anytime and would happily go back for them!
google avatar

Marni M.

Yelp
I wanted to buy a thank you gift for my neighbor and searched bakery's near me. The pictures are what really caught my attention so seeing the desserts in person, I was not disappointed. Everything is beautifully crafted and individually cared for. After much debate and patience by the staff, I decided on the Seasonal cheesecake (gingerbread), Succes (white chocolate, milk chocolate, and mouse), and S'mores macaroon. Because they were all gifts, I didn't not get to try any of them but can imagine how great they must have tasted. It's a quaint and small place that has a Parisian ambience. They do not have their own bathroom, so you would need to go next door. Nonetheless, I can see myself coming here more often to enjoy the fun desserts they have to offer.
google avatar

Toni R.

Yelp
At first impression, I love the full ambience it's super earthy and clean in here. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I plan on coming back in try some food and the kombucha I wish they offered some pastries but I didn't see that on their menu smells really good in here. They have a water filling station and they also offer fresh juice, and tea . We ordered the honey cold brew, and the maple vanilla cold foam and so far the honey one is the absolute best . Overall great experience and friendly staff. Stop in.

Yelp
I knew I was going to stop here when I started planning my trip to Salem. The patisserie is small but clean and bright. We got a key lime pie tart and a fruit tart as well as some macrons. Everything was phenomenal! The key lime pie was limey a tart but not sour. And the macrons were perfectly crisp and flavorful.
google avatar

Everett T.

Yelp
Ridiculously good pastries! We tried an almond chocolate eclaire along with a raspberry something or other. We were blown away by both! Not sickly sweet, all of the flavors in balance, and the service was really friendly too!
google avatar

Yelp
Interesting desert shop. As tasty as it is pricey. Size of Portion are small. Beautiful presentation Nice packaging Coffee is also strong and good Limited Seating $$$$$ but as Salem is a Tourist spot they have something to offer
google avatar

Pamela Q.

Yelp
Amazing! The team working was so nice and patient. Crowds of people are going in and out of stores due to the Halloween season here in Salem. The employees at Caramel were so understanding and guided the groups around the tables to checkout. I ordered a slice of heaven (raspberry slice that caught my eye) with a double espresso. Absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Jordan M.

Yelp
Delicious macarons, and a helpful staff. On top of macarons, they had what looked like delicious bakery items. The shop is located in an easy to walk area in relation to downtown Essex/salem.
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
The macaroons were amazing. I brought them and shared with family most who are GF and the flavors were incredible. Definitely need to check them out.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Fantastic, fantastic macarons and desserts. We got the pistachio and chocolate patisserie and a dozen macarons (rose, tiramisu, chocolate, pistachio, early gray and lavender). So delicious!
google avatar

Annilyn T.

Yelp
I love this place! It's my first time in this location. I've only been to the Somerville one but it was a while ago. I recently got a new job at Salem and just tried to see how far it was from where I work and it was only a 5 mins drive so on the next shift I decided to drive over to see how it is over there. It was very close and the location was at the downtown of Salem. It wasn't busy when I came in. There were some people waiting but even though there was only 1 person at the store. When it was my turn I got some macarons and some tiny pastries. I originally want some cake but they don't have it unfortunately. I would still go back when I am in the area one day
google avatar

Eliza N.

Yelp
My first deviation from the almond crossiant. The cherry turnover did not disappoint! Flaky crispy on the outside, lucious cherry filly on the inside. No soggy bottom.

Abel C.

Yelp
Rude lady turned us and 10 other people away 15 minutes before close. I guess they don't like money
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
Accidentally stumbled upon this place when walking around Salem, and gladly so. A nice place to go into and eat and warm yourself up while it's cold outside. Ordered a bunch of macarons and almond croissant. The almond croissant was the best croissant I ever had. Just amazingly flavorful. Highly recommended
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
The best pastries in the area! We drove over 20 miles to get some! Good service too!
google avatar

Diana D.

Yelp
They have a lot of different desserts the line moves fast. $16 for 6 macarons but they were honestly not great. The filling is a cream as opposed to a jelly. From top to bottom in the pic: tiramisu, raspberry, pumpkin, salted caramel, pistachio, birthday cake. Only decent ones were pumpkin and raspberry. The birthday cake was stale. I'm pretty sure the tiramisu one has alcohol in it and no one specified that. Id stop in and try their other desserts again because they seemed good. It wasn't the best but it really wasn't awful. Small and cozy but we got seating.
google avatar

Yelp
Grabbed a few baked goods for an afternoon snack in downtown Salem. They have all the high end patisserie classics. We grabbed macarons and a slice of opera cake. Items were good but lacked truly punchy flavors. Atmosphere was decent, they had a spot to sit and eat and friendly service.
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
Yes, it is cute. Yes, the pastries are beautiful works of art. Yes, the people are quite nice. No, it is not Paris. Paris is Paris. Salem is not Paris.
google avatar

Kimberly K.

Yelp
The croissants are great here, as are the little pastries. We love the key lime pie. The coffee is good, but not tremendous

Yelp
While shopping downtown in Salem I stumbled across Caramel. This artisan pastry shop offers, what feels like, an endless amount of pastry/dessert options. Although full, I sampled their birthday macaroon. To take a classic dessert and offer a flavorful twist, who could resists?! (Make sure you patent my clever fraises Caramel! I expect a cut. TIA ). Back to the food, the macaroon was nothing but perfection. Whether you're sampling an assortment of dessert or just want a bite, I definitely recommend checking out Caramel. Aesthetics/vibe : Caramel has decorative orange was, definitely unable to be missed. The shop offers an interesting vibe, as the decorative pictures transport you in time. The heavenly smell of pasteurized draws you into the different desserts they offer. Parking: Similar to most shops downtown within Salem, parking is available on neighboring streets.
google avatar

Mary D.

Yelp
I love this patisserie. The shop is amazing. The croissant and macaroons are second to none. I will most definitely continue to frequent this patisserie. I encourage everyone to indulge and try this patisserie.
google avatar

Heather N.

Yelp
Such a cute little spot in a cute area of Salem. The faces working there were friendly and greeted us and everyone that came in after us. The inside of this old building has so much potential but for some reason they have nothing but weird tiny furniture inside. So, it's not the most comfortable spot to sit and enjoy your tasty treats. I got a dozen macarons and they def satisfied my sweet tooth.
google avatar

Hillary F.

Yelp
This place was so great! We tried a few things and wow they were phenomenal! The pastries and bakery items were divine, just beautifully designed you can tell they put a lot of pride into the decorating & they taste amazing too. The chocolate mousse was so light & rich, definitely recommend stopping here while walking throughout the salem area sight seeing.
google avatar

Judy A.

Yelp
We loved the pastries so much we visited twice during our two days in Salem. The first day we walked in and there was only 5 pastries left in the case. I could not believe my eyes! I asked the ladies working do you have anymore out back? I was so surprised when they said no but they shared they had a few coussiants left. Perfect I'll take the last 5 pastries and 4 croissants. We went home and couldn't believe how delicious these pastries were. Two days later we went back to Salem and they had a full pastry case, croissants and macaroons. I'm in heaven! The ladies remember us as busy as they were! We got everything we wanted and enjoyed every delicious bite! The customer service was excellent and we are looking forward to visiting again.

Yelp
Unreal! Delicious desserts. Definitely on the pricey side but worth it. I had caramel mousse with poached pears which was quite possibly the best dessert I've ever had.

Mark M.

Yelp
overpriced, overly sugary the four dollar 12 oz cappuccino I ordered was a cup full of foam If the proof is in the tasting then my recommendation is: Don't bother waste your time and money on this carnival bs.
google avatar

Adam G.

Yelp
The most eye pleasing and an explosion of taste buds. The meticulous care and attention to details in every item there are true French pastries. Thank you for your hard work. It was a true pleasurable experience
google avatar

Lily C.

Yelp
We had a variety of flavors of macarons and they were all excellent. In fact, they were the best macarons I've ever had and I've had a lot of macarons. I had classic Almond and Salted Caramel and both were awesome. My husband had the Mango which was beautiful as well as delicious. The cream inside was divine. I would absolutely recommend Caramel French Patisserie and definitely get the macarons. They were so fresh and so delicious and so perfectly executed. I wish I had some right now!
google avatar

Claudia S.

Yelp
The cashier (short haired brunette with a 3 pearl necklace) is rude. I didn't want to order anything else with that attitude. I asked about the coffee and she told me only drip is available which was fine then I asked about the macaroons and she pointed to a sign and wouldn't answer my questions ? Like okay. She told the people about me in a very rude tone if they wanted a latte to go elsewhere.

Lauren L.

Yelp
Delicious authentic french desserts and pastry. The St. Honoré was amazing. Even though everyone else was enjoying apple tarts and croissants for breakfast- all delicious- I had to indulge in dessert at 9:30 in the morning and it was so worth it. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Erica L.

Yelp
Their poppy macarons and white basil macarons are my fave. Very delicious! I have also tried some of their other offerings and have not been disappointed. Recommend!
google avatar

M n.

Yelp
Every where I go I always order pistachio flavored macaroons. Their macarons are hard so I didn't like it. Their tiramisu tasted light and soft, I hardly taste the coffee
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick snack to-go and got two types of macarons, Rose and Earl Grey. Both were great! Staff was friendly as well.
google avatar

S G.

Yelp
Delicious is all I can say. I enjoyed the Alice which featured lime and almond. I also had what looked like a giant macaron but there was marshmallow and chocolate in the center.
google avatar

Chasity S.

Yelp
I unfortunately have no pictures bc this delectable lil' spot was absolutely amazing ... the smell of the pastry's alone was tantalizing.. every bite of these goodies, was in the simplest of terms orgasmic!! I don't know when I'll ever get to go back but I'll be dreaming of this patisserie til I do!!
google avatar

Stacy H.

Yelp
When I want desserts to impress family or friends this is my go-to bakery. The pastries are little works of art and I can always find a flavor for everyone's taste!
google avatar

Blue A.

Yelp
While walking around Salem, we came across this little bakery and popped in for some snacks for the road back to Boston. We got an assortment of macaroons and a pear pastry. I've actually never cared for macaroons, but gave them a shot. The macaroons were all excellent. They have a bunch of different flavors - the surprise for me was the pistachio. I've always stayed away from pistachio flavored desserts, but got this one at the recommendation of person working the shop. It was delicious. The pear pastry was also great! It wasn't too sweet. The perfect size for a little snack - and was super fresh. Overall it was a great pitstop and made me a fan of macaroons!
google avatar

Francesco R.

Yelp
Best croissant north of Boston. Love this place so much. If you like French patisseries this is the place to go
google avatar

Rosie Q.

Yelp
I was talking to one of my gf about this place a couple of days ago recalling our meetup here way before this whole quarantine, and remembering how heavenly their desserts were. As we walked in, I remember seeing an exquisite array of French pastries displayed. The shop was a very clean shop with several tables and seats with huge glass windows so there's tons of natural lighting. I ended buying a box with a few varieties to give to my family which they enjoyed. And my friend and I shared a dessert here. Since they change up their pastries, I won't go into detail about the one we tried since they no longer carry them. But I remember them being not heavy, subtle in sweetness, and delicious! Overall Service: The gentleman who helped us here was nice. My gf and I never felt rushed. We are planning on stopping by again at some point!
google avatar

Bob D.

Yelp
Unbelievable pastries at this place. Not inexpensive, but a great treat for special occasions. French bread to die for. Go here for a great bakery experience.
google avatar

Whitney O.

Yelp
We got 2 different patisseries the one pictures and the St. Honoré! Both were amazing! The St. Honoré was my favorite and not pictured because it was gone so fast! We also got 6 macarons and loved all of them! I would definitely come back again.
