Caramella

Caramella was a great find in Trastevere! One of the few restaurants in the area where you can make reservations, which made arriving super easy with no wait time. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. This is not your typical Italian restaurant, it’s more of a restaurant-bar hybrid with loud music and a party vibe. If you’re looking for a fun and lively spot, this is it! Upon arrival, we were greeted with four complimentary glasses of delicious wine, and at the end of our meal, they offered us limoncello on the house, such a nice touch. The menu has a great variety, including pizza, salads, burgers, and classic Italian dishes. We had the Caesar salad and lasagna, both of which were delicious and well-prepared. We also had their pizza with French fries on it. Overall, the atmosphere, food, and service made for a fantastic experience. If you’re in Trastevere and want great food with a fun vibe, I’d definitely recommend Caramella! Even our kids loved the vibe.

A well thought out and beautifully designed restaurant with good food and friendly service. The burger was excellent and the meal was topped off with a huge bottle of limoncello for you to take a shot, which was a nice touch. The pasta is not as fresh as other restaurants in the area, but we still enjoyed the food and service.

We casually walked into Caramella while looking for a good bar in the area, and were blown away by the service! They were able to get us a table for 6, while also giving us a free cup of white wine while we waited. Then, we got in, our waiter (the guy in the picture, which we haven't got his name sadly) was very energetic and made sure we will have fun during our stay. He joked with us, helped us with getting specially-modified dishes and also rocked the entire bar during multiple pop songs which played in the background. The atmosphere was great and this guy surely made our night! We truly recommend it.

Every dish we ordered was excellent, including the Tiramisu and the coffee. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

So delicious! It was such a vibe, the service was incredible, and the food was SO good! Shout out to Roberto for his hospitality and shot on the house to end our night in Rome!

Hadn't had tiramisu on the trip and wanted to find anywhere that was open in the trendy Trastevere. This seemed to cater to a hip and young group. Upon walking in, it was very cute inside, each table was lined with little jars of candies and there was flashing colorful lighting. Ordered a tiramisu and strawberry cheesecake. From the cheesecake, it was clear that this was not the place to have a lasting impression of a true italian tiramisu. Cheesecake was very hard and stiff and felt like eating cheese rather than a dessert. Tiramisu was also not memorable. Staff was very friendy and the desserts came out quick. I'm sure the food and drinks were great, but the desserts are a hard pass

We had the BEST night here!! The staff had such a fun playlist going and had the entire restaurant singing along the whole evening! People were singing into the table lamps and dancing on chairs The food was delicious and we ordered more cocktails and dessert just to keep the night going. I can't tell in any other reviews if this is the norm for Caramella, but tonight was absolutely incredible.

The ambiance, the food, the FUN! The cocktails are amazing when you need a break from wine, but the wine list is also not to be missed. The service and those who make this restaurant run are true gems and love what they do. Stop by every time I am in Roma and then hop over to Pimm's Good to continue the fun.

Fun place and great meal. Terrific service (make a reservation if you can.) Drink list was outstanding especially the limoncello spritz. My family had pasta and I had a delicious salad with arugula, smoked salmon, almonds, pineapple and caviar (sounds weird, but it worked). Bruschetta was on good, thick toast and tons of tomato. Nice to have a lighter meal after so much pizza and pasta.

This place had great vibes! It was candy themed and had candies on all the tables. We ended up getting takeout and the staff were very friendly and funny! We ordered pizzas and bruschetta and while we were waiting, they gave us some delicious Prosecco! This is a great stop if you're in the Trastevere neighborhood.

Great vibe, great service, great food and great drinks, staff is super friendly and the food is served super quick and all tasted very fresh, can't remember the name of our waiter with the beard, but he was awesome, made our experience worth going back.... Highly recommended

We stopped here for dinner and had some pizza, pasta, and beers. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The place did feel really crowded though. But good for a quick bite.

The drink was nice and the service was great. The servers were polite and informed. The reason why it's getting kind of low is because of the food. I had their "specialty", which is a modern twist on ravioli. It's ground meat beautifully wrapped in pasta ravioli in the shape of candy wrappers. It was sitting in a white sauce. The meat was bland, the sauce was bland. Wouldn't have that again.

We stumbled upon this place after walking along the river and needing a place to eat. They had live music going and the energy of the place drew us in. It was one of our last meals in Rome and was a good one. The place was pretty full, but we were seated immediately in the back, which was good because you could still hear the live music, but it was not too loud. Our server was great, kept things moving, and was so nice. We started off with the large meat and cheese plate. It was very robust and had a wide variety for all palates. For my entree, I had the tagliolini ragu, which was delightful. The pasta tasted fresh and the sauce was bold with a good meat to pasta ratio. The food came out slowly, but it was time well spent in the ambiance of the restaurant.

Overall, an average Italian restaurant. Service was a little slow, but tolerable. The ravioli (ricotta and spinach with pomodoro sauce) was good, but not great. The veggie salad was pretty good. Cute surroundings (and cute name - means "candy").

Cool place in an area with a lot of cool places (yes, Trastevere is where you want to be when in Rome these days). Caramella (candy, in Italian) resembles a candy shop/soda shop from the old days. We came here for drinks - the aperitivo deal - later in the evening, and then that end up becoming dinner, with a few other additions from the menu. Get your drink and some small bites for a fixed price, enjoy the good time in Italy, and stay for the live music in the evening. Service was good. Overall, would recommend if you are in the area.

Good food--especially some good "secondi" dishes that were leaner protein and fresh vegetables / salad. Fun environment--comfortable; really good live music later in the evening. Staff is endearing and attentive, with good recommendations. Great cocktails--the most craft-cocktail experience that I saw in a week in Rome.

Perfecto! Great pizza, salad and beer for lunch after hours of sightseeing. We love the ambience and will visit again before we leave. Service and hospitality is wonderful as well. Thank you Michael.

We stayed in Trastevere and walked by this place every day right off of Piazza Trilussa. We finally stopped in at lunch and had a wonderful experience. We sat inside because they had A/C and it was hot. Cheesy American themed music but we enjoyed it and the atmosphere. The drinks were great and service was polite and on point. The pizza was Neapolitan style and absolutely delicious. Great spot. Don't walk by it like we almost did.

This was our favorite meal in Rome. The appetizers were so good we ordered them twice. The entrees were just as great. Our waiter Francesco, was very attentive and helped us with our ordering. The restaurant theme of candy everywhere was fun. We highly recommend Caramella!

Great food, great service, great ambiance. Ordered the fried eggplant croquettes, meatballs, and charcuterie board - was not disappointed! Drinks were tasty as well
