This restaurant has a pleasant way of sneaking up on you when you least expect it. I used to think of Caravan as a coffee roastery, but I'm happy to say that it excels at putting forth some surprisingly delicious cuisine with a unique twist. The coffee is great, too, of course. They also have a full roster of cocktails, wines, and beers to round out your evening.
I wish I could give you an idea of the general type of cuisine that they offer, but all I can say is that it's very "new and ecclectic." There are notes of Italian, French, American, and Indian classics, but everything has a creative twist with a refined flair that ensures you'll rarely - if ever- have tried anything like it. I have yet to order anything I don't like. The Rose Harissa Chicken, Burnt Broccoli Grain Bowl, and any of their hefty pizzas are sure to please most palates.
The drinks can be hit or miss, but they're not horrible, either way. The best I've had is the coffee. Service can be a bit slow when they're full, so bring a friend to chat with. On that note: Reservations are strongly recommended, if not mandatory, as you're not likely to find a space any time after 6PM on any night of the week without one.
If you're concerned about price, don't be. The prices are fair and you're likely to spend less than you would at most other fancy-ish joints in the city.
Enjoy.
