On the Grid : Caravan

"Front and center in Granary Square, Caravan was restaurant the first to open in the newly refurbished Granary Building. An eclectic selection of pizzas and small plates, along with great coffee, has meant that it has more than earned its stay." - Sam Morris

Caravan Review - Islington - London - The Infatuation

"For Londoners, the original Caravan in Exmouth Market was a schooling in how to do brunch properly, and the all-day menu of modern dishes (with the odd Asian twist thrown in) are excellent. The coffee’s roasted on-site, and there’s a vibe that’s perfect for a casual lunch with friends or a drink and a snack. Brunch at the weekends is legendary, though do be prepared to get there early or face a wait." - David Paw

I had lunch here with a colleague on a Friday in the city (so a bit quieter). Place was busy though which gave it a good background noise. The decor is a mix of industrial and floral? And works well. The seats we had were comfy. We both had the schnitzel which came with fries. The food was tasty and well cooked. The dill sauce was a nice accompaniment as opposed to more traditional sauces (or none at all). The service was excellent and the young woman was attentive and friendly. Cleared away before the bill which was nice. Overall a great place to go either as work mates or a couple or a group. It’s an interesting menu with a lot to offer. I would go again

Loved this restaurant, first time eating at one of the branches in the group. Very smooth booking process and professional welcome. Super busy at lunch time on a weekday but we got a spacious booth which was a bit quieter. 🕯️ Dim lighting and the industrial chic decor is cool, nice views from above. The menu consists of smaller plates and larger plates, lots of international flavours 🌏 The cornbread with jalapeño was divine with a lovely bit of a kick 🌶️ and the burrata was very creamy and served with lots of greens! It wasn't that big but we are spoilt in Madrid. The lamb kofta was full of flavour and the charred courgette sourdough pizza was a good size and healthy too, a nice surprise. Would love to return and try more dishes 🙌🏻 the prices are to be expected in London, about 25 pounds per person without ordering a drink.

Amazing coffee, wonderful tiramisu and caramelized brioche ☕️🥮 Such a peaceful atmosphere outside in the shade. Outstanding service from Ashley. He was so thoughtful and caring ☺️ Really enjoyed our time here and would recommend to everyone!

⭐ 1 star Shocking experience for a £1,500 group dinner! Booked for a group of 25 — what we got was tasteless food, slow service, and a complete lack of organisation. Only one server for the whole group meant long delays, cold mains, and chaos between courses. The cod was bland with no sauce, and the chicken was dry and overcooked. People were still being served mains while others had already finished! Dessert? Mango sorbet — just as disappointing. You'd expect much better from a restaurant in the heart of London. We left feeling let down and frustrated. Definitely wouldn’t return.

Hands down the best food I had so far in London! Not just the food, but the whole experience from How we were received, the attentiveness of the waiters, the attention to details, how fast we were served, the quality of the meal, freshness, flavours, everything was great! We really loved it and definitely recommend!

The food was delicious! I had an amazing peach margarita with a raspberry rim. The service was phenomenal Rob treated us like we were the only ones in the restaurant and we were his family. I cannot say enough about the service at this location. Give that man a raise.

Went for brunch—really solid spot. Great energy, quick service, and the food was fresh, well-executed, and satisfying. Everything just worked. Nice and easy, would happily go again.

Yelp
What a lovely first meal in London! We came here because it's nearby and the menu looked intriguing. We were definitely not disappointed! Lovely atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious food. The Jalapeño cornbread absolutely delivered. Would be back in a heartbeat!

Yelp
This restaurant has a pleasant way of sneaking up on you when you least expect it. I used to think of Caravan as a coffee roastery, but I'm happy to say that it excels at putting forth some surprisingly delicious cuisine with a unique twist. The coffee is great, too, of course. They also have a full roster of cocktails, wines, and beers to round out your evening. I wish I could give you an idea of the general type of cuisine that they offer, but all I can say is that it's very "new and ecclectic." There are notes of Italian, French, American, and Indian classics, but everything has a creative twist with a refined flair that ensures you'll rarely - if ever- have tried anything like it. I have yet to order anything I don't like. The Rose Harissa Chicken, Burnt Broccoli Grain Bowl, and any of their hefty pizzas are sure to please most palates. The drinks can be hit or miss, but they're not horrible, either way. The best I've had is the coffee. Service can be a bit slow when they're full, so bring a friend to chat with. On that note: Reservations are strongly recommended, if not mandatory, as you're not likely to find a space any time after 6PM on any night of the week without one. If you're concerned about price, don't be. The prices are fair and you're likely to spend less than you would at most other fancy-ish joints in the city. Enjoy.

Yelp
Be aware the noise level is horrendous! Hearing loss type decibels!!! Nice menu, decent wine/cocktail menu etc........

Yelp
Really lovely place very close to the Bank. Upscale decor with full glass wall all around the restaurant. Reservation is highly recommended because it gets I think the best way to eat here if you don't mind sharing, we were a group of 5 and ordered one appetizer jalapeño corn bread and all the small plates. Jalapeño corn bread is amazing. All the food come in small portion. Each dish for 5 of us only get a small bite, some of them we don't even have enough so have to cut half. The price is high, so if you are coming in Hungry maybe will need to order way much more. We ordered dessert in the end, all the ice cream are very good. Service is excellent, all of them are super friendly and give great tecommendrtikn. Highly recommend this place, but make sure you come prepared to spend some money. Great place for a date too

Yelp
WOW. Honestly, I don't know what else to say. I hardly ever give 5 stars but this restaurant is so deserving. My boyfriend and I ordered the seabass curry and a pizza and our server Felix went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I was worried my curry might be too spicy, so he brought me out a sample of the sauce to try. When I realized I couldn't take the heat he then had the chef add some milk to make it less hot for me. My boyfriends pizza came out a little too dark for us and when we said that, they took it back immediately and didn't make us feel bad about it. The second one came out perfectly! All of this happened in less than an hour. The food was hot, fresh, and flavourful. There was always water on our table. ALSO, it was PACKED in there and the service went so smoothly. The environment was great, decor is lovely. I hope to return someday. :)

Yelp
My friend recommended me to check out this place for sunday brunch. This place is located closely to the bank and cannon street tube station. I love the setting of the restaurant, its very welcoming and lots of sun light gets in on a sunny day in london. They have quite few options on the brunch menu, but I ended up ordering the fried jalapeños cornbread. I have to admit, after finishing my plate, I was very close to ordering another one because it was that good. Even though the serving looks so simple, its the flavor which made me fall in love. The prices are also very reasonable which makes this spot a great option for Sunday brunch, or a regular weekday dine in spot.

Yelp
Delicious food (4 stars for that alone), but the waitress was one of the nastiest I've experienced in London. There was a slight misunderstanding in what I'd ordered because of a new member of staff, and she lost her cool. The glare she gave me was so bitchy, that the friend I was with laughed out loud through awkwardness. It really marred the evening and wasn't what you'd expect, even in a less expensive place. Just insanely bad customer treatment.

Yelp
It's really nicely designed placed, creative and warm style. The coffee is very good. Service good too. Love Aesop handwash set in the bathroom
