Delicious Italian food at Carbon Angela’s Kitchen! The pistachio campanelle was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a very long time, incredible balance of flavors and textures. We also ordered and really enjoyed the steak tartare and skirt steak. The service was excellent; friendly, attentive, and quick. The restaurant is dog friendly with indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend!

What a great experience at Carbon! The salmon was one of the most delicious I’ve had in quite some time. My partner’s steak was absolutely amazing!! We weren’t rushed & it was such a great atmosphere! We will definitely be back!

I rarely come to this area due to no parking along 30th. You’ll have to snatch one along the side streets in the residential area. It was well worth it and be sure to call in to make a reservation. They don’t have on line version. We each ordered our own plate but had a chance to sample all. Four of our six items were their signature items, circled on the menu. We ordered a mixture of pasta and meat dish. 3 of us had placed our order while the 4th came late but surprisingly, all of our dishes made it out at the same time! Kuddos to the chef! -Arugula salad: refreshing -Beef cheek pappardelle: my fav type of pasta. It’s handmade! The beef cheek was the winner in its tenderness. -Picanha steak (the entree): this was a preset entree with your steak smothered in a mushroom topping. Although you could sub out your sides. -From the grill choose 3: I chose picanha steak, peperonata which is a stewed vegetable dish, and bell pepper chimichurri sauce. I expected more from the sauce, it was mainly bell peppers. -Pistachio Campenelle: very nutty and cheesy, the pancetta was really thin and almost dissolved -Eggplant croque (4 pieces): I was getting full from eating 2! The picanha steak is on the menu twice. Both same price. Once as a pre set entree where your steak is topped with a mushroom sauce. If you choose picanha from the grill list then it’s just a plain steak and you pick your sauce and side. I have to say, I enjoyed both. I ordered my plain steak medium yet it was more tender than my friend who ordered medium rare from the entree version. Both of our cuts were extremely chewy. Although more fatty, the skirt steak might have been a better choice.

Angela’s kitchen is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. We spent date night here and had the best experience. When you walk in, you’re immersed in the Italian culture with a home vibe. Although not a large establishment, you feel right at home. We were given recommendations consistent with what we preferred and they were spot on. The food was an array of plates you can choose from or create your own, all with a variety of flavors that pleasantly surprised my palate. We haven’t been to a restaurant in a while where each bite felt like a gift. Our waitress sat with us a couple times to get to know us and share some memories of starting the restaurant and was transparent about the business. This is a special restaurant and I will definitely be coming back next time I visit San Diego. Don’t miss this gem!

We stopped here last month and were not disappointed. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees was really good. There was only cannoli for dessert, which was not a problem and tasted excellent. We will definitely be back again when in the area.

We snuck in close to closing time and we're seated 30 mins to closing. We got our food relatively quickly, staff were friendly, checked in on us regularly and left a pitcher of water on our table which I deeply appreciate. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a whole meal, and by that I mean I enjoyed every dish we ordered which is ridiculous. We ordered the steak tartare (flavorful, has a added something different, noticeably good), Spanish Tortilla (flavorful, complex, quite tasty), Beef Cheek Parpadelle (honestly my best dish, so flavorful, deeper, amazing) and Picanha (truffley, rich). Prices are high-ish but portion size and quality are worth it. Easily one of the best meals I've had in the recent past.

Google
Overall food was good, but very oily. Why not a 5? 1. Bread was served with oil & balsamic in a deep dish. It needs to be served in a relatively flat dish to get more balsamic and less oil 2. Skirt steak seemed lower quality. Much chewier than I'm used to. Also. The steak itself wasn't marinated, but left that to the sauce on top. Not bad, but more to be desired 3. Garlic sauce is really just oil. 4. Smashed potatoes were good after several bites, but initially felt they were too thick. I expect thinner potatoes for smashed. The good: 1. Brussel sprouts and shoshito pepper appetizer was amazing. 2. Chicken skewers are a must. Tons of chicken and flavorful 3. Chimichurri sauce was also great when the excess oil separated. 4. Corn was amazing. I didn't want to stop eating it! We'll be coming back to try other things. Hopefully better use of oil next time.

That staff was very friendly and helpful. The service was great. The food was amazing. I would highly suggest the Picanha steak. It was phenomenal. The chicken skewers with street corn were very good as well. Can’t go wrong when ordering here.

Yelp
Had dinner here with a group of my friends on my birthday. To start, the owner was extremely helpful and professional over the phone when I made the reservation; I was already very impressed. The restaurant is beautiful inside and warm, very welcoming, feels like a small home. Angela who happened to be our server, was fun and kind and has an altogether very chill vibe. Then the food arrived.....this food was absolutely crazy. Our big party shared the meat platter and a few pastas, some wine, and many sides. Tasted like heaven. Fresh and delicious is an understatement. I couldn't stop trying a bit of everything. Genuinely, the food was spectacular. Few spots in San Diego have made me fee this good about a dining experience. Top service plus amazing food, complete 5/5 experience. This is an absolute must try in San Diego. I cannot wait to go back there.

Yelp
Definitely recommend this delicious Italian restaurant in the South Park neighborhood. I made reservations for 3 on a Saturday night and so glad I did. This was my first time here and I will definitely be back. Customer Service was excellent! The food was delicious! We ordered the following: Sausage Trio: grilled sausages with roasted garlic, homemade compote and toasted bread Crespelle: stuffed with ricotta cheese, parmesan with cooked cherry tomatoes and a Calabrian chile cream. The table's favorite! Definitely ordering this again as an entree! Everything salad: greens, avocado, cherry tomatoes, grilled veggies {cauliflower and carrots) with pickled red onions. Picanha steak with bell pepper chiimichurri sauce and street corn. Pistachio Campanelle: pasta dish with pistachios, cream and pancetta Guava cheesecake Parking was challenging, there is only street parking but it was worth it!

Yelp
I just wanted to express my gratitude for the amazing dining experience I had at your restaurant recently. I discovered your place through a recommendation on Yelp, and I must say it truly exceeded all my expectations! I visited with a couple of colleagues after a long day at work, and we were lucky enough to secure a same-day reservation. The food was absolutely delicious, and we were all incredibly impressed. Angela, the chef, was so kind and made our evening even more enjoyable. I already have plans to come back very soon! Thank you for providing such a fantastic atmosphere and culinary delights. Looking forward to visiting again!

Yelp
The food was 5/5! Every bite was delicious. Even the pickled onions in the grilled platter were delicious. The fluffy feta on the platter is out of this world. The chicken skewers were juicy and well cooked. The sauces. The peppercorn and the chimichurri. Top notch. Even the salad was terrific. You know how must salad dressings are sour? This was not. A perfect umami balance. The red sangria with plums was excellent too. Share a carafe. The place was a little loud. But we were also seated next to a party of 15. So there's that! The service was great once it started. We waited about 10 minutes before someone took our drink orders. I'll be back. It was delicious.

Yelp
Everything was very good. Brussel sprouts were perfectly charred. A couple of peppers were super spicy. Just happened that it was 3 in a row for me so I had to take a minute and a few glasses of water to let the sensation die down. Ordered steak medium, came out a little rare for me, but still very flavorful. Service was good, everyone was really friendly. Small place, make sure to make reservations. We will be back, saw some plates at the tables next to us that looked delicious as well.

Yelp
Tl;dr you should go here. Just make sure you have a reservation. Came to Carbon on a Sunday at 5pm after picking up the in-laws from the airport. We were early for our reservation but warmly accommodated and seated at a 4 person table in the restaurant. My MIL and I each had a glass of the Sangiovese and it was very good. For the table we started with the steak tartare and the shishitos and Brussels. We were also served fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Shishitos and Brussels were a great start and while the steak tartare was good, it was nothing special. The bread itself was tasty, light and airy. For dinner, I had the everything salad with skirt steak. 10/10 recommend. My husband had the skirt steak with smashed truffle potatoes and the chimichurri sauce, FIL had the salmon, and MIL had the chicken skewers with veggies and mushroom sauce. Everyone was very happy with their meals! We had dessert as well and the cheesecake was the table favorite. The restaurant is intimate, with beautiful wall paper and a cozy but friendly vibe. Service is excellent. By the time we left there was a line outside waiting for tables. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Got a reservation for Valentine's Day and this is truly a quaint hidden gem in South Park. The service was truly amazing and the shrimp gnocchi was nothing like I expected! This alongside the steak w/ truffle potatoes, and a glass of red wine was 85$ before tip. Truly an amazing experience with amazing food!

Yelp
Mind blown. We visited Carbon for our wedding anniversary and were thrilled to get a reservation on short notice. Tried the eggplant, bone marrow and mussels for appetizers. For main course we the- chicken skewers, skirt steak, house special sausage gnocchi and salmon, with some delicious sides like truffle smashed potatoes and street style corn. All excellent. Fantastic service in a small intimate setting, can't wait to return!!

Yelp
Super impressed! First time visiting this restaurant and it really left a good impression! A small quaint restaurant in the heart of south park. Cozy dining area with bright atmosphere. My husband and I shared the eggplant croquet. It had a slightly smoky eggplant flavor. It was paired with a red bell pepper aioli and together was so good! My husband ordered the pistachio campanelle and it was delicious. I was surprised how flavorful the pistachio sauce was! It was definitely a rich dish, but it was so good. I got the shrimp gnocchi. It was a red sauce. The sauce was thick and flavored with a lot of cheese, but so good! The shrimp were nice and plump. The gnocchi were perfectly cooked. I don't usually like Italian food like this, but Carbon definitely hits. I would definitely come here again to try more of what they have to offer!

Yelp
Eating at this place definitely felt like a roller coaster ride. We had a reservation for 3 people at 7pm on a Thursday . We did not get seated until 8:45 and had to wait outside, and unfortunately for us it was raining. When asked the waitress multiple times, she said they had a issue with the reservation system and when asked about a table, she said 10 mins and then disappeared for 30 mins. People dining inside were done eating but they wouldn't leave. While I understand that they can't be kicked out, I would atleast think that the waitress would check if they need anything else and bring in the check to provide some hints, especially when people with reservations are waiting outside for so long. We thought we'd leave but she told us that she'll definitely seat us in the next 10 mins. After almost 2 hours of waiting in the rain, we finally got a table. But the hospitality was so wonderful. They offered us a very generous glass of wine, an appetizer and dessert for free for making us wait for so long. I got the pistachio pasta and it wasn't very great. While I really appreciate the free food they offered which was easily 45$ worth, I would not come back here again.

Yelp
Carbon or better known as "Carbon Angela's Kitchen" of South Park, San Diego is one of those hidden gems in San Diego. It may not be the largest eatery or the most popular with the social media food bloggers, but it one thing for sure, this place has heart. The skirt steak with red pepper chimichurri and a side of organic mixed vegetable is a perfect example of an idea and food preparation that comes straight from the love of food and all its complexities. The tender skirt steak was perfectly temped at medium rare and came with great flavor from the charring of the grill. The red bell pepper chimichurri packed a lot of flavor. Although delicious I would recommend they ease a bit back on the quantity, so not to obscure the natural flavor of the steak. In any case, the meal was delicious and very pleasing on the eye. The steak cost $26. The organic vegetables were not only well seasoned, but nicely prepared to a al dent bite. I like that the place came with a good mix and quantity. There are several other sides to choose from. To start my meal, I had the Arugula Salad. The salad was wonderful. In addition to the peppery arugula, the salad also came with red onion, bell pepper, sliced avocado, manchego cheese, walnuts, and a delicious lemon vinaigrette dressing. I do recommend this salad. The salad cost $13. Oh yes! I also had a small slice of cheese cake with a terrific guava compote on top. Great dessert! Maria was my my server and she was fantastic. At the time, she was the only server on the floor when the eatery opened, and it was quite impressive watching her glide from table to table welcoming and seating quest, explaining the specials of the night at each table, bring freshly baked bread, taking orders, and bringing food to the tables, and even bussing. On top of all of that, she was super sweet and friendly.

Yelp
We had a reservation at 7pm but weren't seated until 7:45, which was not ideal, but the staff was super nice about it. They gave us free sparkling wine to make up for the wait Drinks: she brought out two tasters which were almost a glass of wine on their own, and then the actual glass was a generous pour to say the least! They were also very knowledgeable about the wines Food: we got the Eggplant appetizer which was really good, and the skirt steak. It was perfectly cooked and with the potatoes it was a great combination

Yelp
Everything was perfect! The staff is very friendly and attentive. The colors are bright and welcoming. The food was the perfect portion and so many flavors. I had the grilled salmon. We tried the sangria.... I can not say enough great things about this beautiful establishment! Its a must go.

Yelp
A lovely spot with lovely service. We came right when they opened on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. It's such a cute spot and their windows are open to allow for the fresh air and sunlight to come through. It gives that natural outdoor feel right at your table. The interior design is adorable and the staff are very friendly. The fusilli pasta with sausage and mushroom cream sauce was delicious. I was between that and the gnocchi but will just have to save the gnocchi for another time! The braised short ribs and risotto had a little spice to it which was good. Yummy flavors all around accompanied by some nice, light glasses of their viognier and vermentino options. The arancino was a perfect shareable size. I'm looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
I recently visited this restaurant for a friend's birthday dinner, and if you're a meat lover, this place is a must-visit. The menu is packed with rich, flavorful options that will satisfy any carnivore. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, making it ideal for an intimate dining experience. We made a reservation in advance, which I highly recommend. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the lighting and decor made it feel both comfortable and upscale. Our waitress was an absolute gem; she was attentive, very friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She offered great recommendations for both starters and main courses that were perfect for sharing. Her enthusiasm and genuine hospitality added a lot to our experience. I wish I had taken a photo of the menu, as I'm writing this review nearly two months after the visit, I can't quite recall the specific names of the dishes we ordered. However, I vividly remember that each plate was presented beautifully. We tried a variety of meats that were tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The portion sizes were generous and perfect for sharing, which made for a fun dining experience. This restaurant is a hidden gem for anyone who loves quality meat dishes the delicious food, intimate atmosphere, and exceptional service make it a spot I'd gladly return to. Just be sure to book a table in advance and maybe snap a picture of the menu you'll want to remember every detail of this delightful dining experience!

Yelp
I had this place bookmarked for a while because the it popped up in my search for happy hour. I love happy hour and I was excited to try the menu at this place and also try the bone marrow. Plus I love restaurants in South Park because of the tree lined streets and ease of finding parking. I came at 530 on a Friday and I asked to partake in their happy hour. Unfortunately, they stated that happy hour wasn't available because a lot of their items on the menu were similar to their regular menu. I think she said they were revamping it, but not sure. Their website and menu still mention that it's available. I would call first if they have it, if that's what you're looking forward to. The restaurant is quaint and has a cute, cozy feel. I had a glass of white wine, which was nice and crisp. I ordered the mussels and clams which had a lot of broth but like another Yelper pointed out, it had a lot of empty shells. I scraped the bottom of the bowl to search for lost mussels and clam meat to no avail. For the price point, I don't think it's worth it for mainly broth and half of the seafood :(. I hopefully asked for the bone marrow but sadly they said they sold out throughout the week. What I did enjoy was the Picanha steak with truffle roasted garlic sauce , which was seasoned well and was a nice portion size. I chose the street corn for the side , which was creamy and flavorful. For dessert, I had the mango mousse, which was silky, sweet, and light. Some gems stand out in this place and hopefully they bring back the happy hour menu. Customer service was good and the restaurant does get busy around 6-7pm so reservations recommended as this place has limited seating.

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere and excellent food. Our food took over an hour to come out, but they gave us a piece of scrumptious cake and it definitely offset that disappointment. I loved the servers and their Italian charm.

Yelp
The food is beautifully plated every time and tastes amazing I love going in the evening as it is a nice quiet setting despite being on South Parks 30th Street. The Service the owner and staff put into the kitchen and place is exceptional! Thank you Angela for bringing Carbon Angela's Kitchen to our neighborhood.

Yelp
Outstanding food quality and taste. Great service and recommendations. The restaurant is a little small, but cozy. This is our new weekly restaurant.

Yelp
This is a WOW!!! Angela is a totally hands-on owner whose touch is on every aspect of the menu and the restaurant...the food is delicious, the prices are fair...great wines...Steak tartare to die for...here's the Limoncello dessert...we'll be back!

Yelp
This is a place that is five stars for food service and ambiance; and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg!! Very cute indoor area where some tables can watch the food being prepared. They also have a nice outdoor area in the back. The servers work as a team. They are all super helpful and friendly. You feel very well taken care of. The food is so yummy!! We were a party of four. We ordered the 1/4 chicken with corn, the skit steak with salad and the jidori chicken. Everything was delicious. The steak was definitely enough for two! The sauces were very tasty. We had the au poivre and the garlic. The only thing we ordered that was not quite five star was the bone marrow. It was fine but nothing special. Little frenchie in coronado does that better. This is a great place to dine in south park!!

Yelp
What a gem! Its places like these that you wish never go away because the experience is more than just about the food. Angela is right there, taking orders, cooking food, talking to guests and just being an all around amazing person. But, the food is terrific! This is now my go-to every time I am in San Diego.

Yelp
The restaurant is small and cozy. My lady and I sat outside in the patio area and our hostess provided blankets. They also have heat lamps. We both got the skirt steak with bell pepper chinichurri sauce. She got the truffle smashed potatoes for her side and I got the Mac n cheese. Everything was so delicious, we're both so glad we were able to have our 6 year anniversary here. Michelle was also an amazing waitress.

Yelp
Came here for a date night without reservations, but got lucky and seated right away. The vibe is very intimate and romantic, perfect for just 2 people. Our hostess and server were great and interactive. The meals are freshly made to order and SO worth the wait. I got the shrimp gnocchi and my hubby got the picanha steak and YESSS my shrimps were huge and hot! We will be coming here again with reservations.

Yelp
This is a cute restaurant in South Park, a bit away from the busy area. I came here on Friday night to celebrate my friend's birthday. The place has a big open window, which is so lovely, and some seating is on the back patio. The service was excellent, and they brought out a little cake for my friend's birthday celebration. Now, on to the food. The steak was the best dish out of all. It was cooked perfectly, and the sauce had a good flavor. For this reason, I am giving it 4 stars, even though the rest of the food was meh. Pancheta pasta: There was barely any pancetta. A few tiny pieces were sprinkled on top, and that was about it. It was mostly just pasta and some asparagus, with not much flavor from the sauce. It is also way overpriced. Kale salad: The kale tasted fresh, and it was average. Muscles and clams: There were very few muscles, and some of them were empty inside the shell. The sauce was a bit too strong with wine. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the food except the steak, so if I return, I will order steak and try something else on the menu.

Yelp
Carbon has been on my list to try for a while and we finally came last night! We got the skirt steak with chimichurri and truffle smashed potatoes and the shrimp gnocchi and both were super good. We started with the arugula salad and I'd probably pass on that next time - nothing special. Our waitress was super nice, but it took about 15 minutes for us to place a drink or food order since she was the only server on staff and apparently all the light beer taps were broken so my husband couldn't get a beer. Overall it was really good though and we would come back! Hopefully the taps are working next time lol

Yelp
This restaurant is nice and cozy! Service was quick. Arugula salad is a must! The bison burger had the perfect amount of seasoning. The steak tartar was also delicious just wish it would have been colder it came room temperature which I didn't really like. Other than that this place is must try in South Park :)

Yelp
We found this place on a whim and I can't recommend it enough. Everything from the atmosphere, service, and food will have me coming back. The skirt steak, mushroom sauce, and street corn is a must try! We also had the chicken skewers and man n cheese, both were very good as well. We will be back to try the other items on the menu.

Yelp
Does not get any better than Carbon Angela's Kitchen. The food was exceptional! You don't need to go to Italy to get a great meal and nice atmosphere. I felt like part of the family. Definitely my go to for Italian food
google avatar

Yelp
A small-ish restaurant with an Italian cafe vibe. There is an open kitchen surrounded with glass, and the staff was super friendly and excited to showcase their food. I should start by saying I definitely did not order the specialties of the house, which would be meats cooked over charcoal. I was in the mood for a burger so I ordered the bison burger medium rare. It came out exactly as ordered and delivered on the burger front but was a little lacking in.bison flavor. The fries were pillow like on the inside but the crust could have used some more browning. I also ordered the eggplant croquettes that when eaten with the sauce were absolutely delicious. I look forward to coming back and ordering the house specialties from the grill to give it a proper review.

Yelp
Visited this place based off of an Instagram post of places to eat in San Diego...and I was NOT disappointed. Easily made a reservation online just a few hours before going in. Made the reservation as I seen online that it's a smaller restaurant. The inside is so charming and beautiful. There's greenery, and ambient lighting. Along with pops of color with rustic seating. The windows were open as it was nice and cool outside, but there's also a little space heater inside if needed. We were warmly welcomed by Angela and Estella. Both were absolute gems through this whole dining experience and were probably the highlight of the whole entire trip. The menu is not extensive, which is nice. The issue is that everything looks so good it's hard to decide what to get! When you're seated they bring you fresh warm bread, with eggplant and olive accoutrements. What an incredible start! (We even asked for some of the olives to go and they so kindly obliged!) We decided on a charcuterie board and bone marrow as an appetizer. We also split a bottle of rosé as it was Wine Wednesday which means you get a little discount. The charcuterie board comes with 2 different options and we chose the smaller of the two. Amazing cheese and meat choices, wouldn't have changed a thing! The bone marrow melted in your mouth and came with delicious bread. For our entrees we got the ribeye with peppercorn sauce and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was the perfect amount of cheesy with al dente cavatappi pasta. Would highly recommend this dish. Then we got the skewers with truffle garlic sauce and street corn. The skewers were charred to perfection with little veggies between each. I would've loved to see a bit more sauce, but Im glad it didn't overwhelm the meat. The street corn was a perfect side as it wasn't heavy, but flavorful. With two apps, two entrees and a bottle of rosé, the total came to about $129, which seemed like a steal! Especially when split between two people. So many kind gestures and wonderful conversation from Angela and Estella was simply the cherry on top of an already fantastic meal and night. Hats off to these two for their phenomenal customer service. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Came for their weekday 3-5:30 happy hour and tried their skirt chimichurri and the rotating tapa which was the cauliflower with yogurt lemon aioli. Both were phenomenal! The skirt steak was tender, flavorful and a lot of the charr flavor came through as well on the toast. I also really liked the roasted cauliflower which paired perfectly with the lemon yogurt which was refreshing with the pita bread. Vibe is cute and trendy. I loved that you can see the kitchen with the giant glass window so you know exactly how all the dishes are prepared. The staff was very friendly and attentive as well! Overall a great stop for happy happy but want to return to try their other dishes!

Yelp
Enjoyed a date night here and thought it was a great experience. Initially I thought to rate the restaurant a 4/5 but they service was so great I had to give them a 5/5. They serve complimentary bread, olives and roasted red peppers to start which was a nice touch. Here is my opinion of what we tried: 5/5 - Eggplant croque, my favorite dish of the night. Delicious and perfectly fried. 3/5 - Kale salad, not my favorite. Could definitely use some more cheese and the honey mustard dressing had no sweetness to it. 3/5 - Skirt steak and beets mashed potatoes, skirt steak had a good charred flavor but the beets mashed potatoes were spread too thin and came out cold, making them unappetizing. We didn't try the Mac and cheese or the roasted vegetables sides but they definitely looked delicious and gave us food envy. 5/5 - Gnocchi special with shrimp, really delicious dish. Gnocchi was well cooked and tender. Sauce was great. 5/5 - Limoncello cake, light and lemony. Overall food was tasty and would love to come back and try more. The service was friendly and the owner was so wonderful and accommodating. Small little restaurant with limited seating but very quaint and cozy.

Yelp
Been to the new iteration of Carbon three times now, and my wife and I love it. Great food at very fair prices (portion sizes are always big enough that we take home leftovers). I'm personally partial to the chicken skewers as, unlike so many other kabob/skewers where the meat - and especially chicken - can be dry, these are very flavorful and juicy. Only issue we had last time was that our bill was quite slow in arriving, but the hostess (owner?) explained that there was some miscommunication between the waiter and someone else he'd asked to bring it over, and she even gave us an "apologetory" gift card for $25 which was nice but don't think I'll use since the explanation and gesture was more than sufficient

Yelp
Another couple and us decided to try a restaurant which had been open a little under a year. We made reservations and gave it a try... Oh my goodness, I'm a little hesitant to post my review as we don't want tip off this place and actually make it harder to dine here from now on. Carbon South Park is our favorite restaurant we've tried in all of 2024! The owner, Angela, took my reservation over the phone, greeted us upon arrival, seated us and we felt her genuine hospitality immediately after meeting her. Carbon South Park is a cute, small, intimate, and had a neighborhood family feel. You instantly feel the soul of Angela and all her service staff. We tried their eggplant croque and arancino appetizers, both of which were equally amazing. For our main course, we shared their grigliata mista (a shareable mix of many of their meats offered), which included 2 sides (street corn & the truffled smashed potatoes), and 3 sauces (truffle roasted garlic, peppercorn, bell pepper chimichurri, & mushroom). For dessert, we had a limoncello double-layered cake. We shared a bottle of schiopettino red wine. We loved everything Angela's staff prepared. Our server Maria took excellent care of us during our entire stay. We can't wait to return with other close friends of ours to introduce them to our newest hit dining spot. Kudos to Angela and all her staff on our newest dining fav!!!

Yelp
Carbon is a delight to the community offering something different with an emphasis on grilled items like meat and veggies to South Park. The service from the staff was extra friendly and made me feel like a regular. They communicated to us that the food was going to take some time to prepare. We received complimentary bread to dip with two things. One was a red bell pepper and oil mixture and the other was a creamy mixture with peas and carrots. Steak Tartare (4.5/5): This steak tartare was presented nicely with some slices of toasted bread. It was garnished with tiny flowers which was a cute detail. I enjoyed the taste and would describe the flavors to be acidic, creamy, and citrusy. Bison Burger (4/5): Pretty juicy burger with the patty being thick and topped with standard toppings and an aioli. The choice of side salad or fries were offered and my boyfriend chose the salad. Skirt Steak (3/5): I was expecting the quality of meat to be high quality in which it was, however, my slices of steak were heavily salted. It wasn't the peppercorn sauce that I chose to go with it, however, the seasoning on the steak itself. This dish also arrived pretty cold as my first bite wasn't that warm. The roasted vegetables were grilled and were delicious on the other hand! Overall, a few misses and service time can be improved, however, as the newest addition to the list in South Park, I would highly recommend it.

Yelp
Truly the very best ribeye I have had in sooo long! We had the eggplant appetizer and it was so good! We ate it so fast no time for a pic. Ha! Super impressed with the service as well. It felt like you were coming into their home in Italy for a home cooked meal. I would reccomend this spot for a great date night or family night out even.

Yelp
The service at a stellar 20/10! Angela and Vittorio took care of us, creating a homely atmosphere. The place itself feels so cozy The food adventure began with the steak tartare and bone marrow. The tartare was fantastic, but the bone marrow portion left us wanting more. For the main course, we got the perfectly grilled ribeye with organic veggies and chimichurri. The bison burger, while good, could benefit from a more pronounced pistachio pesto flavor. Despite our fill bellies, Angela surprised us with a slice of limoncello cake. It was a burst of freshness, perfectly balancing sweetness. A delightful end to an exceptional dining experience!

Yelp
We were looking for a place to eat today and this one was proposed. Nice little place. Looked like an intimate one. Food was nice. We order chicken and a bison burger. Flavors were really nice. Service was okay as well but overall ambiance was not. It is a small place but there a things you can do to soften the noise and it seem loud, just with 4 people (when we walked in). Noise travel and in here wasn't super nice. It was a loud lunch for us. Nevertheless, if you are in the area, stop by and give it a try. Happy meals.

Yelp
This is an update to my previous review on 12/21/23, a year ago. A year can make a big difference in the life of a good restaurant. Angela has taken this delightful little restaurant to even greater heights. We have returned again and again, by ourself or with friends, and every visit has been wonderful. For our anniversary this evening we shared the grigliata mista. Knowing that the restaurants generosity would, as usual, be over the top, we prepared ourselves for a real treat. Prosecco came first, followed by toasted bread and balsamic/evoo. The bbq platter was huge and everything was perfectly grilled. White truffle smashed broiled potatoes are a big must. Huge love and gratitude to this gem in our neighborhood. Huge love out, and immense gratitude to the beautiful young couple who sat two tables away and who anonymously paid for our dinner. It is people like you who will save this world!

Yelp
What a sweet little spot for a date night! The fun floral wallpaper/overall vibe and tasty entrees are sure to wow you (and your date). The restaurant itself is pretty petite, with roughly 10 tables, so this might not be the best fit for a large party (no pun intended). Food that gets the Cindy A. Stamp of Approval: - Eggplant Croque: These fried delights look a lot like arancini, but they are filled with super chopped up eggplant instead. For all you eggplant haters out there, I encourage you to try this-- it doesn't taste like eggplant. It's just pure delicious. - Gnocchi w shrimp: I'm pretty sure my first words after taking a bite were "oh wow!" Excellent flavor and super filling. The service was fabulous. Our server was incredibly cordial and warm. Speaking of warm... You probably won't get chilly here at night. Though the restaurant itself is pretty narrow, with most of the tables being within a few feet of gigantic open windows that face 30th, they have multiple space heaters running to heat up the place. Just a heads up, it gets a bit loud with all the cars going by, but it wasn't annoying or anything, just a bit noisy at times.

Yelp
New modern european food spot borderline north/south park . It's on the smaller side so reservations are encouraged. The waiter was attentive as well as other staff checking in. I got the skirt steak medium rare with mac and cheese side. Really loved how tender the meat was, both needed a touch more salt and pepper though so I added some. Would come back for that quality of meat for sure.

Yelp
Found on yelp after a nice afternoon at the zoo. Carbon is a perfect date spot- unpretentious but great service, Eurocentric food and a really cute neighborhood sandwiched between North and South Park and Burlingame. Picanha steak with smashed potato's was unbelievable. The sauce was exquisite. The potato's well crusted but not overcooked. Paired perfectly with the san Geovese as suggested by the delightful chef, owner, server and sommelier Angela. The salad was great. Even the lemon cake was tasty moist and fresh and melted in my mouth. Highly recommend. Parking may be the only difficulty but an Uber or robotaxi ( Available soon I hope) ride is worth it. Would give 10 stars. Priced tight too.

Yelp
My family and I got the house salad (standard), muscles & clams (good), and the picanha steak with truffle smashed potatoes (great)! Service was awesome, she was very kind and friendly. Atmosphere and lighting is warm, I would say it's a cute date spot.

Yelp
Food was the highlight of our experience at Carbón. Crespelle was like nothing we ever had before but we loved it. Great combination of textures and flavors. The braised short rib was so tender and the risotto was balanced and not too salty. The pichana was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The plating could be thought about more. Even though the sauce was delicious it really makes all of the charred or crisped bits of food underneath wet. Service was great. You could tell between the indoor dining area and the patio that they were super busy. They were very attentive and the open windows looking on the street made for a great ambiance.

Yelp
10/10. Obsessed. Loved having Angela guide us through the menu. She made great recommendations and put our choices in the most perfect order. Do yourself a favor and get the Brussel sprouts!

Yelp
Wow! The food and customer service is amazing here. We had the filet minion and the egg plant croquets. The customer service was on point. They also provided fresh out of the oven bread which was really delicious.

Yelp
We decided to try Carbone on a whim, without a reservation, and were lucky to snag a table--it was clear this place is very popular, and for good reason. The staff was incredibly professional, making us feel welcomed and well cared for despite how busy it was. The menu was impressive, and the food exceeded all expectations. We ordered the skirt steak and chicken, and both dishes were absolutely flavorful.
