The service is decent, but the biggest red flag is that barely anyone dined in at the place (there were people at the bar but they were mainly for order-to-go). I ignored the red flag and found out the reason the hard way.
The waitress was friendly, but she misled me into thinking that they offered lunch special on weekend. Since I never tried this place before, I opted for lunch special size. She agreed and brought out the food. The presentation of the food was fine, but the taste of the food is definitely not the business. There are better Jamaican jerk chicken elsewhere in Houston, just not this place. They seasoned the outside of the meat, but once you dig in, the meat within is not that flavored or well seasoned.
Now came the time to pay for the meal. To my surprise, she went ahead and charged me the regular dinner price. I asked her whether she gave me the lunch special portion, and she said yes. I then asked her why she charged me dinner rate. And then that's when she flipped the script, calling the meal she brought to me was the regular size (really? only 3 pieces of jerk chicken with a ton of rice and veggie is a regular portion?). And to add injury to the insult, she then said "oh we don't offer lunch special price on weekend.." (but the menu makes zero mention of this restrictions. It only mentions lunch special from 11 to 3) Thus, this establishment is really more about deceiving customers than to giving them the true Jamaican cuisine experience.
I decided not to argue further, so her charged the credit card. I did not tip her much, because as far as I am concerned, she pocketed at least 4 additional dollars by charging a lunch special meal as regular dinner meal.
No I wouldn't recommend anyone eating there. Not ever.
P.S. They up charge everything.. even a 30c water bottle, they will up-charge by a dollar. It is a rip-off as I only asked for tap water, not bottled water.
