The 14 Best Caribbean Restaurants in Houston | Eater Houston

"This impeccably decorated restaurant takes an artistic approach to its food, with beautifully cooked oxtail sitting atop a bed of rice, perfectly portioned plantains served with each meal, and jerk chicken that looks just as good as it tastes." - Kayla Stewart

Let me start by saying the portion size is excellent. They give you a lot of food for a good price. I got to oxtail plate the oxtails were sweet to me, not the usual i would expect but not to bad. I also got curry goat, that one was amazing love the spice and seasoning in it.plantains were decent but for both plates the cabbage was bland. the festival was the best part for me and my partner. we also got the beef patty and coca bread wish the patty was spicier but over those two weren’t bad.

Myra was very friendly and hospitable. She welcomed my sister and I right away and made our visit extra great. The juices were delicious and refreshing. Highly recommend the chicken dumpling soup, curry goat plate, and stew chicken plate. All of those items were awesome!! And the decor is so cute, this place is just great vibes all around. We'll definitely be coming back!

Google
Ordered brown chicken stew, curry chicken, and jerk chicken. Also got a complimentary chicken soup. All delicious! Warning for anyone with low spice tolerance: curry chicken has a bit of a kick, and jerk chicken is spicy

Google
Food was amazing! I ordered Oxtail, Jerk chicken, rice and peas, plantains and cabbage. I was given chicken noodles soup while I waited and it was really good and had great flavor (I am not a soup person either). Chef was really nice and came out to greet me. You can definitely tell he puts some real soul and passion into his recipes. Looking forward to coming back.

Ive tried many Jamaican places but this one really upsetted me. I loved the environment there the man that helped me was very nice his name was Frank, but the food didnt taste good. The oxtail had no flavor and the rice was ok. Loved the cabbage and plantain. I had high hopes for this place but I guess im just used to my mothers cooking.

Google
First I ordered the stew chicken meal, I was told I can only get dark meat which don’t care too much for, especially legs. So I asked for two thighs and was told they couldn’t do that because it’s the lunch special. Second these people claiming they give a lot for the lunch special are lying!!! My lunch special came with a reheated piece of leg and tiny piece of thigh. Last but not least I don’t think the people that cook and/or work here are actually Jamaican or even Jamaican descendants. I say this because the stew chicken I received looks and taste more like Haitian stew chicken than Jamaican stew chicken, and from my experience Jamaican stew chicken is usually cut up into smaller pieces, and browned not fried before simmering. Haitian stew chicken is not chopped into smaller pieces, is fried then simmered in sauce, and I have never had Jamaican food where there wasn’t an option for salad, cabbage, or greens even for a lunch special. This restaurant only serves a salad on the side, which is something I’ve only seen done with Haitian food and/or restaurants. Another thing is that I was told the stew chicken would take 45mins, when I came to get it I was told I had to wait a little longer which was fine, as I figured I was getting a fresh order of food. However, when I got to my car I told my daughter to hold it and she wearing shorts sat it on her leg because the plate was lukewarm, how a plate that was supposedly just made lukewarm is beyond me. Overall the food is decent but I will not go back there again.

Google
This place has decent Jamaican food. Lately every time I come in here theres a dark skin younger male who is very rude unkind and unhelpful. In the most recent encounter I asked why the patties were cheaper online and was told “buy them there or pay more”. I then inquired about the carrot cakes icing “is it cream cheese or butter cream?” He told me he didn’t cook the food so how would he know. I asked if he’d ask and he said no. I asked why and he shrugged his shoulders. This has happened the last 3 times with questions I ask regarding ingredients. I’m done I can take my hard earned dollars elsewhere. It really do be “your own” people. Smh.

Yelp
At last! A decent goat roti! Didn't have all the spice that i like but the roti was soft and well prepared so i added pepper sauce to med it better. The plantain was sweet and fresh. I was not a fan of the jerk chicken (a few pieces were burnt) or the rice and peas but i liked the side salad. AND the have a lunch special. The beef patty was good too. The portions were a good size. I would recommend and i will return.

Yelp
As much as this pains me to say it I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS BUSINESS EVER AGAIN!! This restaurant doesn't understand customer service and surly doesn't respect their loyal customers who's keeping them in business. I've been eating at this restaurant for 5 years, the food is truly amazing if you're looking for authentic Jamaican cuisine. Unfortunately the owners and staff are rude, unprofessional, and have no understanding of what it means to find a solution to saving a customer. Over the last three weeks I've spent $200 dollars with this restaurant, and this evening after ordering I've decided that i can no longer support them. I accidentally submitted my order via Uber eats without requesting for some additional curry gravy. I decided to call and ask the manager to add the extra gravy to my order and she told me that Uber already assigned my food to a driver and it wouldn't be possible. I asked could they charge me over the phone and add the gravy to the order but it was picked up and she said she'd go ask if that's possible. After waiting 10mins, the lady says unfortunately we can't add gravy to this order, now I totally understand that it's a cost ($1) to be exact but is it that big of a deal to spoon out some gravy to a customer that asked first to add it to his order, then offered to pay for the gravy, and lastly has spent $200+ dollars with your business in less than a month? Call me petty but it's definitely worth airing out this business because it would have went a long way with me on making things work.

Yelp
Hands down the best Caribbean place in town! Taste is always there, the spicy is always there, the customer service is always 100%. It's just a whole vibe.

Yelp
This was pretty good jerk chicken meal. The chicken could have been a little juicier, but it was not as dry as I've had in a few establishments. The sauce was on point. The owner warned me to try the sauce before I put it on my chicken and that was a good warning as it was about a 4 out of 5 on the heat meter. There was cabbage, plantains, and rice and peas. I wanted to order a Ting, but at $4 that was about 4 times the price in a grocery store. The portion size was enough for 2 to 3 meals-so good value for the money. There was an elderly woman outside selling soursop mango leaves, and peanuts, and I understand she is a neighborhood institution. The interior was cozy and it seemed like the menu had quite a few things on it. I skipped dessert since the server did not know when the carrot cake had been prepared. I am not about to take any chances on stale cake. Everyone was courteous and service was prompt. Will come back again when in this part of town.

Yelp
If you're looking for amazing jerk chicken, this is your spot! Friendly staff and yummy food! We got jerk chicken plate and it came with cabbage and rice. I enjoyed the rice a lot - sweet and savory. It comes with candied plantains which were delicious. All orders are "to go" but you can eat your to go meal at their tables. We ordered extra chicken to go. They only do white meat on weekends, just an fyi! We went on a Tuesday so we had dark meat which was still great.
google avatar

Mary L.

Yelp
I used to frequent this restaurant as a kid and teenager. The customer service is still great but they're not contributing socially to the economy. Too much plastic waste. It's basically now an order and sit type of spot and your food is in Togo containers and you get plastic utensils. The food isn't as good as it used to be either. Oxtails were very sweet with no spice. Cabbage wasn't cooked enough but plantain rice & peas were bomb. The red snapper and curry shrimp were not hitting. The goat was pretty good. Only lacking spice. The cook is still the owner so I don't understand how the quality declined. I hate to say but I won't return again. Very disappointing.

Yelp
I ordered the Curry Chicken lunch special with consisted of: curry chicken, rice and peas, salad, two plantain slices, and a fried dumpling. It was delicioussss. Very welcoming atmosphere with the gospel music playing. I also ordered a sorrel drink. Not as ginger forward as I like, but still very good. I look forward to returning.

Safiyyah A.

Yelp
This is the absolute worst Caribbean food I ever had in my 42 years on this earth. First off my chicken was still bloody. Secondly the chicken is giving bbq not jerk. The rice was mushy and tasted like brown sugar. The only thing that was good was the plantains. It's definitely not giving authentic Caribbean food. Very disappointed
google avatar

Xin Yun Z.

Yelp
For my own record: Oxtails: yes Jerk chicken: 50/50. Sauce is good, 2 legs and 2 thighs. Chicken was a tad overcooked. Both comes with rice/cabbage/plantains/fried dough. Next visit: get something other than jerk chicken.

Yelp
Customer Service is HORRIBLE!!! Food is terrible. Told the owner that her Patties were frozen and not made from scratch and she went on in a rant that some days she cooks different and it's not her fault that today the pattie was off. Went on to say that she don't care about support and doesn't need any.. she doesn't care about customer service! Lol. Asked for an exchange she ABSOLUTELY refused and said that all sales are final. Listen all i said Is that don't advertise fresh Patties if you are going to just microwave them. Owner was extremely and aggressively rude. I really felt like she wanted to attack me LOL. Told me to go back To my country

Ciara L.

Yelp
The food to me was gross. It tasted more like bbq. The rice and peas were mushy. I wasn't really served and I was told you can get a cup with ice but not water.
google avatar

Sashann W.

Yelp
Poor excuse for "Jamaican/ Caribbean" food. Everything was off. We ordered a plate of jerk chicken it came w/ rice and peas, cabbage and plantain... The "Jerk" chicken was not jerk chicken, it was slightly undercooked brown stew chicken cousin w/ over powering scotch bonnet. That's all you could taste. The rice and peas tasted like they cooked it w/ vanilla and nutmeg. Just weird. Didn't bother to try the cabbage or plantain. Avoid this place. This food is straight trash and the place looks a mess.

Yelp
OMG!!!! From Oakland, Ca to Baltimore, MD & places in between Ive had my fair share of Caribbean food & this by far has been THEE BEST experience.. the taste of the food AND the actual atmosphere of the restaurant. I decided to treat myself to lunch & wanted to try a new spot so i came here. I love how spacious the dining area is & I loved that they had Bob Marley on blast (suggestion: put the TVs on mute & just let the sub titles run), the water fountain is a beautiful touch to the ambiance! The young lady allowed me to take my time, there are SO many options! I got the oxtail plate which came with cabbage, rice & peas, & this breaded dish I forgot the name of. Had i known the breaded dish would be so good I would have ordered an extra 1. I barely had enough time (less than 10 mins) to look at all the travel magazines when my food was ready & it was pipping hot like FRESH! Everything was soooooo flavorful!!!! The portion is big af!!! I had left overs for sure. I also had the Pineapple Ginger drink which was great & refreshing. I will definitely be coming back to this establishment! They constantly had customers coming in & out picking up orders & the phone was ringing non-stop so i know it's the bomb.com You will NOT be disappointed!

Yelp
I have to write this review right away, lol. I am so disappointed in what I received from this restaurant regarding my chicken curry roti. I added a chicken patty, which was good so they got 2 stars. I had ordered roti from them before and was pleased. I love roti! I love to eat with my hands dipping the roti skin into the curry filling. For some reason they gave me tortillas instead of roti skin. Well, obviously they ran out. Instead of calling to let me know they just put 4 tortillas wrapped in foil. I'm not eating that dish with tortillas. I'm so disappointed. I won't be back!

Yelp
Mouth watering!! Can't be beat for lunch specials! Very reasonable and tasty Jamaican food. I've been coming here more than 15 years. Never been disappointed!
google avatar

Nena K.

Yelp
Very good food and service. Some of the best oxtails and jerk chicken I've ever had!! Everything seasoned perfectly. Perfect Jamaican cuisine taste.
google avatar

Marlania G.

Yelp
The food was fresh and hot, unfortunately I discovered I'm not a big fan of the food I ordered. The meat pies I ordered on the side were so good I would definitely order those again!

Shark'Grind F.

Yelp
They have great food! Oxtails are my favorite but everything is delicious. Owners treat u like family if u come correct. Don't let a karen review stop u from going
google avatar

Miketresha K.

Yelp
Just had oxtails delivered, to my surprise my meal arrived steaming hot. And words can't express how Delicious every item on that plate was! Every item. I'm looking forward to a dine-in experience
google avatar

Cecile M.

Yelp
My husband and I have eaten here twice and the food was delicious both times. The only reason why I give it 4 stars is because it's a little pricey. They do give you a very large portion of rice and peas but the meat portion (ox tails or Jerk chicken) is a little small for the price. But again, good food and love the tropical Jamaican ambiance. :)
google avatar

Joanna T.

Yelp
Out of the 3 Jamaican restaurants, I visited this was by the best!!! I had the jerk chicken plantains, rice, and cabbage. Oh my goodness, it was glorious! The best filling dish. I can't wait to revisit and would suggest stopping by yourself!!
google avatar

Mkayla D.

Yelp
This'll be short & sweet! I was craving oxtails so of course I came to yelp to help me find the best place!! This is my first time eating here and it won't be my last. I spoke with Adrian over the phone while placing my order. He was super helpful, friendly and explained the menu to me in great detail. The oxtails were delicious.Overall the food is 10/10!! You get so much food to a reasonable price. Please try this restaurant , you won't regret it!

Courtney F.

Yelp
I love this this place and we've been supporting over 10 years. Real Jamaican restaurant with bomb food. I love the curry chicken with white rice extra potatoes lol. the brown stew with rice and peas. They have an affordable lunch special while plate less than $10. I've never had a bad experience the food is always fresh . So I don't eat oxtails outside meaning restaurants but baby listen this place oxtails is soooo amazing so delicious. I need a plate now
google avatar

B W.

Yelp
#Food --- I always order either the oxtail plate or the jerk chicken. Can't leave without an order of money bread, and when I'm feeling dangerous... a Redstripe . That jerk sauce will make you slap someone. It's just the right amount of heat and sweet to ask in the chicken and rice. #seasoning -- The cabbage isn't like mine; I add a lot more flavor and heat. So for that reason it's my least favorite but for dietary reasons I understand from a culinary standpoint why it's prepared that way. No cap on the chefs! #portionsizes -- they give a lot of meat for the price. Whether you select oxtails , chicken or lamb. Be prepared to eat now and save some for later. #score -- Ultimately I give 3.5 if I could because it's good for its years in operation but can also be improved upon
google avatar

Tonya G.

Yelp
Tasty jerk chicken plate!! I expected a lot of heat but was a little disappointed because it wasn't spicy enough lol But other than that, this plate is always a top choice.
google avatar

Brittney D.

Yelp
The oxtails are soooooooooo good. Won't be disappointed. You can also have it delivered to your house.

Yelp
I go here once a week. I love this place. I really do. The lunch special is bomb. Food and customers service are great.

Yelp
Omg!!! The food here is AMAZING!!!! Idk what they're doin back there but THEY DOIN IT!!!!

Yelp
We stopped by at this place during a quick visit to Houston after a long drive and empty stomachs. The place was mostly empty when we got there but I was hoping that didn't mean anything seeing as the yelp reviews were decent. My go to for Jamaican restaurants is normally oxtail so that's what I went for and my boyfriend opted for the Curry chicken so we could try both. The oxtail was delicious and tender with the only negative being that it was on the watery side. It comes standard with a side of cabbage, rice and peas and plantain and I have no complaints there. The curry chicken was good too but was underwhelming in comparison to the oxtail. Service was good and you have to pre-pay if you want the outdoor seating but be warned that the tables are really small

Jessica B.

Yelp
Customer service deserves 5 stars!!! The young gentleman at the front is so professional. It was a pleasant experience from the moment I stepped foot inside. The 3stars are for the food. This place was extremely busy doing lunch time/early afternoon. My first time trying so I was excited once I saw the foot traffic and I thought Ive found a new place to frequent since they are much closer to me then Cool Runnings. Everything is cooked to order and that I can appreciate however to wait an hour for Saltfish and Cabbage to receive the order with barely a piece of saltfish in it was such a let down. The flavor of the cabbage and saltfish was decent but the rice and peas were mediocre. Overall wasn't a bad experience but cant say I would return. I am glad I gave them a try. And again the you gentleman working the front was AMAZING!!!
google avatar

Alicia D.

Yelp
This is absolutely my favorite Jamaican restaurant and Houston. I've tried several other restaurants and this one is by far the best tasting Jamaican food that I've had in Houston. I have tried Jamaican food in Jamaica so I can compare the two. I always order the ox tails which I absolutely love. The way they make their gravy is by far the best I've tried in Houston. I also get the curry chicken, Curry goat, brown stew chicken, and jerk chicken. I always get a combination plate so I can have two different choices at the same time. I like this restaurant because they always give you a lot of food for your money and the quality is very good. If you want oxtails or a specialty dish please go early because they will sell out if you wait too late.
google avatar

Tony H.

Yelp
I've visited this place 3 times in the past two months. It has been consistently good. This time I ordered the oxtails dinner. The rice had both red and butter beans, which was excellent, while the cabbage was mediocre. The oxtails were good - stewed nicely that the meat fell off the bone. The seasoning was too sweet for my liking, also the stew was watery and soaked into the rice. I would give the oxtails 3 stars. Now the reason why I rate them 4 stars is because they have really good lunch specials, so you can try different dishes without spending a fortune. The previous time I got the brown stew chicken and it was delicious. The lunch specials also come with a can drink or bottle of water. Really can't beat it for the price, and I rate their lunch specials 5 stars.
google avatar

Veronica J.

Yelp
Service is magnificent! I had tried calling as soon as they opened to place my order in advance, being that I only have an hour lunch and I knew it was going to take awhile, but my call was sent to voice mail after a few rings and after a few tries (11-11:10am). It's not too far from my work and my friend was here from out of town so thought it wouldn't be so bad just to wait and eat there. They do have daily lunch specials, I got the curry chicken while my friend got the jerk chicken ($5 difference more or less). I was pretty disappointed to see two tiny pieces of chicken on my plate, some potatoes and a butt load of rice. The rice was superb, the chicken was tender but at least give me a honest size chicken thigh/leg. The lettuce for the salad was still wet and there were some bad pieces in there that needed to be thrown out. The jerk chicken was good, wasn't too spicy (maybe my level of spiciness is higher?). I would uphold their meat patties, rice and the drinks.

Braden T.

Yelp
Me and my family have been going here for almost 5 years now, and the food has always been consistent. They have the most authentic and best Caribbean food that I have found in Houston. Their Jerk chicken tastes just like the jerk you'd find in Jamaica and so does the sauce. Too often "jerk sauce" at Jamaican restaurants taste like barbecue sauce. Their roti, chicken curry, and oxtails are amazing as well. Their rice and peas are seasoned well too. I definitely suggest going here if you want authentic Caribbean food.
google avatar

Yelp
The service is decent, but the biggest red flag is that barely anyone dined in at the place (there were people at the bar but they were mainly for order-to-go). I ignored the red flag and found out the reason the hard way. The waitress was friendly, but she misled me into thinking that they offered lunch special on weekend. Since I never tried this place before, I opted for lunch special size. She agreed and brought out the food. The presentation of the food was fine, but the taste of the food is definitely not the business. There are better Jamaican jerk chicken elsewhere in Houston, just not this place. They seasoned the outside of the meat, but once you dig in, the meat within is not that flavored or well seasoned. Now came the time to pay for the meal. To my surprise, she went ahead and charged me the regular dinner price. I asked her whether she gave me the lunch special portion, and she said yes. I then asked her why she charged me dinner rate. And then that's when she flipped the script, calling the meal she brought to me was the regular size (really? only 3 pieces of jerk chicken with a ton of rice and veggie is a regular portion?). And to add injury to the insult, she then said "oh we don't offer lunch special price on weekend.." (but the menu makes zero mention of this restrictions. It only mentions lunch special from 11 to 3) Thus, this establishment is really more about deceiving customers than to giving them the true Jamaican cuisine experience. I decided not to argue further, so her charged the credit card. I did not tip her much, because as far as I am concerned, she pocketed at least 4 additional dollars by charging a lunch special meal as regular dinner meal. No I wouldn't recommend anyone eating there. Not ever. P.S. They up charge everything.. even a 30c water bottle, they will up-charge by a dollar. It is a rip-off as I only asked for tap water, not bottled water.
google avatar

Tenneisha B.

Yelp
Had to deal with someone name Sterling (I was told was her name). I believe she was one of the chefs. She was very disrespectful, rude, and unwilling to help. Even when she decided to "show" me good customer service her tone and attitude was very nasty. I got a piece of chicken that was mostly fat and bone, and barely any meat. I asked to have it swap for a different piece. I was told I would have to pay $9 for a whole new meal to do so. When I showed her the chicken I received and why I wanted a new one she insisted that's not how I got the chicken so I'm lying. The food was decent, & the decor was a bit much and old. I will not be going back.
google avatar

Je S.

Yelp
I had a great fresh made juice- Pineapple ginger. Unfortunately they were out of most items after the lunch rush except for a couple of things. You might want to call first to verify what menu items are available
google avatar

Greg V.

Yelp
Never had this type of food before but I was blown away by it! Great service also! I was told by a friend about this place but never got around to going because it was kinda far from where I lived. Now that I've had it though I will gladly drive the 12 miles to get it!
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
Only one other table dining in on a Saturday at 1 pm. I get worried when the restaurants aren't busy because I question how fresh the food is. Decorations around the restaurant have a Jamaican feel. There's a wide array of Caribbean themed drinks but I usually just order water so I can't comment on the beverages. I wanted to try the Jerk chicken wings but they were out. I also wanted to order fry chicken but they were also out. So I settled on the jerk chicken entree with extra chicken. This comes with rice and cabbage. We also asked for extra jerk sauce on the side. The rice was over cooked and tasted like cinnamon. The cabbage was wet and overcooked and tasted like mush. The chicken was partly burned but tender. The jerk sauce on the side was disappointing. It tasted like barbecue sauce. The sauce that was on the chicken had a nice kick but again wasn't the jerk flavoring I was expecting and hoping for. Sadly, I won't be returning.
google avatar

Ta-Earia E.

Yelp
I would give 0 stars if I would. Ordered from Uber Eats and they "asked for extra time" and then cancelled my order after waiting over an hour. I called and the person in the phone told me it was cancelled because they had no more chicken and no more goat and were trying to reach me...which was a LIE because I had my phone with me the entire time. As if someone is stupid, I was then asked to reorder and curry chicken would take 40 mins...Knowing damn well the restaurant is about to close and they are no longer taking orders. Why not cancel it immediately if you know you can't complete the order??? As a Jamaican I'm really disappointed in my people sometimes; I had high hopes but I'm turned off from ever eating here.
google avatar

Jass S.

Yelp
This place needs to really do better ! EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO THEY ARE OUT OF OXTAILS! Like damn . Or something is gonna take 45 mins to make! They ruined my whole day! Like this has happened to many times I'll never return again. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT

D B.

Yelp
One of the best Caribbean cuisine places to go in the city! Staff is also very friendly

Yelp
I came on a weeknight and ordered ox-tails, a 2 meat meal consisting of jerk chicken (dark meat) and curried goat. We also ordered fresh lemonade and pineapple ginger juice. They were out of white meat chicken and meat patties the day I visited. As far as taste, the chicken was cut into several chunks and both chicken and goat contained several small bones. The chicken was slightly overcooked and dry and edible....the goat was pretty good and better of the two. They give you a huge mound of rice and peas in the middle of the plate, but the meat portions seemed a little small for the $14 price tag for the 2 meat plate, dinner portion. You get more food on the lunch portion at Cool Runnings. The ox tail was also smaller pieces of tail that had good flavor, but I've had better. The pinneaple ginger juice and lemonade were both fresh and pretty good. The best part for me were the homemade hot sauces. There was a clear bottle of sauce on my table that is made with either habaneros or scotch bonnets. This sauce was runny but flavorful. Don't be confused with the bottle with the red label that is on many of the tables....that one isn't homemade. If you want spicier than the sauce in the clear bottle, the jerk chicken sauce that comes with the meal is really good. It has the consistency of bbq sauce, but it pretty hot. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was pretty cool with a lot of decoration involved and constant birds chirping like you're in the jungle.

Yelp
Really good Caribbean food. The decor is really old but gives you a good Jamaican vibe. I really loved everything that I had from there. The jerk chicken is a must have!

Yelp
I heard about you guys from a close friend and recommended I tried. Till this day I still go there. Much love

Yelp
Well, it's back to the grind and thank goodness for that after Harvey. We all pile into the company approved van and head out for lunch. Some weird smell has settled into the company approved lunch SUV and after a brief search the origin is narrowed down and found, its Harvey remnants. It's soon discarded and off we go on our merry way. We pull into this Jamaican Jerk place and immediately upon walking in I start to smile. Susan our waitress is super friendly and puts up with our weird IT humor and seats us in the middle of the place. Bob Is playing on the speakers, I call him Bob because well, that is his name. We get the menus and I look it over, I ask what is recommended and the finder of the mystery smell in the company approved lunch SUV says the Jerk Chicken. I ask if it's hot and am told it's not and to man up. So I order it but Susan seeing that I am your basic tall pale IT idiot tells me she will put the sauce on the side. That small act of kindness prolly saved my life. The meat pies show up first, these are great and even better with the bottle of hot sauce that is on the table. There soon gone and yes the hot sauce is hot but I am holding my own. The bread, holy crap is that bread good. The Jerk Chicken arrives and looks fantastic. I taste a little of the sauce on the side and immediately sense danger. BUT, it's so freaking good you have to put it on the chicken to really get the experience. The rice is awesome as well. So halfway through I start to bead up on my forehead. My sinuses start clearing. The Orange drink is gone, the water is gone and my lips are starting to tweak out like some crack addict in a mobile home with no working a/c on payday. Yet I continue to eat because it's so flipping good and I think there is a subliminal message in Bob's lyrics to continue to down this incredibly hot but savory meal. So yes, try this place out if you have not been here yet. The atmosphere begs you to order a Red Stripe with your meal and your prolly going to need 3 of them. One more thing, thank GOD the beltway is repaired as I barely made it home, I have you to thank for that Mike.

Yelp
This food was worse than I remembered. I don't even consider myself a Jamaican food snob, but this is definitely the worst I've ever had. I'm updating my review to an even lower rating because of my less than enjoyable recent lunch experience. I would've opted for the $5 lunch special, but I was reeeally craving cabbage. Well, turns out the lunch special doesn't come with that, and I couldn't sub salad for cabbage. So, the waitress suggested ordering the dinner plate ($6 more) which DOES come with cabbage and larger portions. WRONG. The only thing different was the massive heaping of rice thrown on the plate. I had to shift through the rice to confirm it was indeed Rice and Peas. The worst part? I got a slither of cabbage. The only reason I'm not giving this place 1 star is because the service was decent and the beef patty (which they were sold out of last time) was good. Houston has a horrible selection of Jamaican spots. I'm hoping a better one comes along soon.

Yelp
They oxtails so damn good. Rice good. Cabbage good. Beef patties yummy and their fresh juices are good as well. I haven't had their chicken only because I only eat the wings and they serve thighs and legs. The service is kinda iffy but I've never dined in so I can't really tell you how the service is.

Yelp
It's hard finding a good Caribbean restaurant. This little hole in the wall is a great escape. $7 lunch specials are great and fills me up. Jerk chicken is moist and I love the rice. Jerk sauce is smoky and spicy. Beef Patty's are amazing. This place is worth the visit.

Yelp
I went there for the first time and I was totally disappointed they use too much salt
