"Caribbean Jerk Palace, a small Chicago-born chain known for its Jamaican cuisine, is set to open its first restaurant outside of Illinois when it lands in Houston later this year. Located at 3801 Emancipation Avenue in the Third Ward, diners can expect dishes like curry chicken, jerk catfish, turkey tips, jerk chicken wings, and sides like rice and peas and plantains." - Brittanie Shey

First time experience: The wait was exceptionally long, especially when we had reservations and it was your Grand Opening. The food I ordered was not what the title was or expected. I ordered brown stewed chicken and i got jerk chicken pieces and after addressing the issue twice you poured gravy on top of dry jerk chicken. I also had to send back adult cocktail that was obviously not what I ordered. Not mention dirty eating utensils... Come on guys, get it together. If you are going to stay in the prestigious African American heritage Emancipation neighborhood, I expected Black Excellence. Guest 3 Spend $145

This restaurant or lounge was amazing the atmosphere the food was good I would recommend the jerk chicken. The sides were the best thing on the plate but the star of the show was definitely the cabbage! The real star of the show was the customer service from the servers Sam and Anthony to the busser and hookah guy. I felt like everyone wanted to ensure that you felt welcomed and had an amazing experience I will be back. I haven’t had service that amazing in a really long time. The service will definitely be the thing that brings people back outside of food .

Oxtail Eggrolls were terrible. Only could eat 2 before discarding them. Jerk Chicken was good and the jerk sauce gave it the spicy flavor. The Mac and cheese and cabbage were good. Overall, I wouldn’t set my expectations too high in regard to the food.

If I could give a zero star review I would but I’m a give a little sympathy because the waitress was on point. This was probably by far the worst experience ever. We arrived at 4pm on a Saturday one hr after the grand opening. We were immediately seated(great), placed our order right away because we looked at the menu before hand. At 5:20 our first appetizer came out(eggrolls) and still didn’t get the second appetizer. At that point we was over it and ready to go. The waitress was transparent and kept checking on us and running to the kitchen to check on our order so it’s not her fault, but couple things here: 1. Why wouldn’t the owner come out and speak to customers who have been waiting for 2 hours essentially just for appetizers finally arrive. 2. This is my biggest a complaint about Black owned establishments, they are riddled with horrible customer service. 2 HOURS for an appetizer?!? I’ve eaten at plenty of high end restaurants and on their worst day it is not that. Even if the food was half way decent there is no way you can encourage anyone to comeback after an experience like that. It’s disrespectful and shows you have no interest in providing customer satisfaction nor respectful of people time. I wish you’ll the best and hopefully you get this in order but I will definitely never eat here(or TRY)again.

Yesterday 2-14-25 was my first time ever visiting CJP oh and I loved it. I had their steak with garlic potatoes and Mac and cheese no complaints at all food was hot, good and reasonable. The waitress was bomb very friendly and welcoming hate that i don’t remember her name. Can’t wait til I return and experience the other foods on the menu. Most definitely will be telling others to visit❤️

The restaurant is in a soft opening so all the processes have not been fine tuned. However, I did enjoy my Old Fashion and the butter garlic lamb chops. My friends enjoyed the ox tails but didn't know they had to ask for rice and peas because it is not included. Oh the oysters are out of the Pacific Ocean and not the Gulf of Mexico so the taste is different but delicious.

Where do I start. This was the worse experience I have ever had with any restaurant business. First, we entered at 4:00pm on a Saturday, today, 01/15,2025. We were seated quickly which was a plus. At 4:07pm we ordered our food: two orders of egg rolls one with oaxtails the other with jerk chicken we came prepared on what it was that we wanted to order. We were a party of 3. Next, we asked for a red strip beer which came 10mins after being seated along with three waters. At 4:44pm we still sat patiently with no appetizers or anyone coming to explain how much longer we would have to wait. At 5:15pm we received the jerk chicken egg rolls as our appetizer ( they were not that good. The sauce that came with them saved it as it lacked flavor) and was told everything else was coming yet again. We sat there growing frustrated as we explained to the waiter who was such a sweetheart that we didn’t appreciate the wait with no update what so ever. She continued to question the kitchen as to where our order was multiple times, she was told it’s coming. The waiter apologized repeatedly we told her we understood it wasn’t her fault. At 5:40pm we called her over and ask to cancel our order we were tired of waiting and would be leaving and that we would also leave her a tip as we understood it wasn’t her fault. She then went into the kitchen and came back out with part of our order (fried rice and macaroni) and stated not to worry about it. Th that we did receive was terrible lacking flavor on the jerk chicken and the Mac and cheese was sweet like they put sugar in it. I was highly disappointed in this place and would never recommend it to anyone. I have never had an experience like this! Now it is 10mins from 6:00pm basically 2 hours from the time we ordered we had fried rice, Mac and cheese, and a order of jerk chicken egg rolls (3 egg rolls cut in half). Why didn’t the owner or anyone of management team check on their guests? Why were they so much more interested in the guests getting drunk and partying? Where was the service? I DO NOT RECOMMEND

Da Best

Just waited in line 10 min and had my order taken just to be told “We’re now taking any more to go orders”. A young lady took my order and someone came out the kitchen and told her that. This place is ghetto and does not put the customer first. I try my best to support black owned businesses but a lot of these establishments make it so difficult. I will not be returning.

Yelp
The ambience is sophisticated , sleek and the island music set the vibe Our server Martel is very knowledgeable ,polite and welcoming ,and although very busy she never neglected our She pointed us in the right direction in ordering the right food to satiate our palettes. The flavored lemonades were spot on ,Our table ordered jerk chicken ,ox tails, curried goat , cabbage ,collard greens with turkey, macaroni green beans and potatoes .We had the privilege to meet Chef Marino , what a kind gentleman, ,Looking forward to returning , Thanks for Every Tingggg

Yelp
If I could leave ZERO STARS I would, I was told a wait time of 15 mins that ended up being 45 mins! While waiting she sat down a party of 5 and a party of 2 with a baby and I was checked in way before! I wish I could have at least tasted the food but with the service already shown ON TOP of A WAIT FOR MENUS!! Then she said A WAIT ON WATER, then we have to get a new waiter like I unfortunately don't have my whole Saturday to do so 0/10 DONT RECOMMEND and don't get me started on their parking....

Yelp
The food was amazing & so was the service. The ox tails and jerk chicken are so good. The jerk sauce is fire.
