We dined here on New Year’s Eve with a group of 11 and had reserved a private room with a prix fixe menu. While I understand how busy the holiday can be, for a restaurant at this price point, the overall experience was extremely disappointing.
Upon arrival, we were shown to our private room, where loud and rather somber music was playing, which immediately set an uncomfortable tone. Our server was curt, unwelcoming, and came across as rude and dismissive from the start. It was apparent that she was aware we were subject to automatic gratuity, which unfortunately seemed to affect the level of service we received.
When we requested drinks, we were told we would need to go to the bar ourselves, despite paying nearly $200 per person. We were also asked to wait because the server “had other things to do,” which felt inappropriate given the setting and cost.
Champagne was supposed to accompany one of our courses but was never served. While the entrées were generally good, the menu lacked sufficient descriptions, and questions about the dishes were either brushed off or not answered clearly. Throughout the meal, we were rarely checked on and were not asked if we wanted additional beverages.
When dessert was served, we were not informed that certain items were sold out, resulting in some guests receiving incomplete desserts. Several people ordered a dessert specifically for the ice cream, only to be told it was unavailable after the fact. The lack of communication — and the suggestion that replacing an item was somehow unreasonable — was frustrating, and our concerns were met with passive-aggressive responses.
This is not a restaurant I typically complain about, as we have visited annually during the holidays in the past. However, spending approximately $2,600 on an experience with such poor service and communication was unacceptable. Sadly, this visit has ensured that we will not be returning.
