Carina Sorella - Review - Bryn Mawr - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Carina Sorella, which translates to “cute sister,” is the perfect name for the Bryn Mawr sibling of Fitler Square’s charming Trattoria Carina. Visually, she is darling. A sprawling L-shaped dining room with green tile, blonde wood and marble patterned tables transports you out of the neighborhood and straight to an Italian Pinterest board. But this group, which also operates the beloved Pub & Kitchen in Rittenhouse and The Diving Horse in Avalon, treats the suburbs with less care. Cuteness ends with undercooked, unbalanced pasta with far-too-spicy crab, overcooked and over-salted scallops, and mushy meatballs. Satisfying arancini, caesar salad over a chicken cutlet, massive chicken parmesan, and solid pizza are better options. Carina Sorella is a great place to grab a $10 negroni and snacks at the bar for happy hour or share a salad, pizza, and bottle of wine on a weeknight. One look at the decor, Italian-centric wine list, and the price point may have you thinking about making this restaurant your special occasion destination. Don’t. A few bites in, you’ll be reading Infatuation reviews of South Philly Italian restaurants on your phone. Food Rundown Arancini Arancini stuffed with braised short ribs, tomato and mozzarella should be rich and unctuous, moist and meaty. These are fine, but lack the braised richness they suggest. Meatballs The lack of meatiness continues with the meatballs which are soft, spongy and very spicy, served with a much more promising fresh-tasting tomato sauce. photo credit: Alison Kessler Caesar Salad with Chicken A caesar salad with chicken sounds like a boring lunch order at a suburban restaurant. At Carina Sorella it is an experience, where a thick, giant cutlet of chicken serves as a platform for a solid lemony caesar with fresh parmesan and parmesan crisps. It’s not listed on the menu, but be sure to ask for it. photo credit: Alison Kessler Spicy Crab Pasta Nearly raw pasta, scant traces of crab and extreme with more heat than flavor, this is one to skip. Hold out until your next trip to Zeppoli. Pizza The pizzas at Carina Sorella are worth the visit. The crust has a New York-style chew and is not too charred. The crust does not have too much flavor but the abundant toppings bring the interest. photo credit: Alison Kessler Chicken Parm A massive slab, big enough for two (or more), that dwarfs a side of rigatoni. The chicken itself is underseasoned, but a bright marinara and melted mozzarella hide that well enough. This is the dish that turns heads as it makes its way to your table. photo credit: Alison Kessler" - Jonathan Deutsch

Much bigger than the original with a spacious bar and plenty of tables. Parking meter out front but need quarters not credit card and the restaurant can’t help as they don’t either. No ticket thankfully. Happy hour is nice. Sat at bar. Meatballs were great. Cacio du Pepe was okay. Rigatoni and sausage our favorite. Caesar salad was huge, better than most versions.

The vibe and ambiance of this restaurant is really unique and chic, and the food and service were really great. It was easy to make a reservation online, and when my party was running late, they were super great about accommodating us. Perfect spot for Sunday brunch with friends, highly recommend if you are in the area!

Had impromptu dinner & drinks at the bar on a Saturday with a friend. We enjoyed the service, drinks, food, & atmosphere so much that we were literally there for 4+ hours. It was a great weather day & they had the windows open, it was lovely. I recommend the margherita pizza, brussel sprouts, broccolini, espresso martini & lemon drop. I saw others order the caesar salad & the portion size looked great, I will definitely be ordering it next time.

I visited this restaurant for my friend's birthday some time ago, and it was a charming little spot. The decor was very Italian-inspired, which contributed to the overall ambiance of the place. It had nice big windows that let in plenty of natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. As for the food, some dishes were enjoyable, while others missed the mark. However, it's worth noting that the service was truly fantastic. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring everyone had a great overall experience. Heads Down, they really did have great customer service. To start, we had Caesar salad and pizza, which were great, and the presentation was good, too. Alongside this order, we received a bread board for the table. Although it had a cute display, they provided a small piece of bread that barely had anything on it, which, in my opinion, was not worth the price. I think I took a small bite of the bread, and then I was done. Others mutually agreed; it just wasn't what we expected. When it came to the main course, I ordered scallops, and unfortunately, they were overcooked and lacked flavor. Out of the four scallops, I may have been able to eat one and a half because I just couldn't finish them. They looked like they would be delicious, but sadly, they did not meet our expectations. However, the desserts we had were great. The staff even brought out a special dessert for the person celebrating their birthday, which I thought was really thoughtful. The attention to detail in both presentation and service truly elevated the overall dining experience. I would say it was hard to give this rating because the service was truly excellent, but the food overall fell short in the few items we had; others at the table felt similar about their meals as well.

I have been waiting so long to try Carina Sorella, and it sure didn’t disappoint - especially on a busy Saturday night. The food was generously portioned (which I greatly appreciated), our server was so kind and attentive, and the drinks were good as well. The restaurant was so lively and well decorated, but it was hard to talk due to how incredibly busy it was. Definitely recommend the chicken parm, caesar salad, arancini, and penne vodka. Can’t wait to come back!

Overall, Carina Sorella was very good! The food was tasty and I loved the atmosphere. The Pera-Dise Sour was fabulous. It was perfectly balanced and had a nice foam at the top. I had the cappelletti for my entree. The brown butter sauce with balsamic was delicious, and I could tell the pasta was handmade. Lastly, dessert was the Honey Panna Cotta. It was covered with strawberry rhubarb and pistachios, which gave it a nice balance of sweet, tart, and crunchy. I only have 2 complaints about my time here: 1. Service was a little slow. I waited at the host stand for a few minutes before being seated (there was only 1 person in front of me who also waited for awhile). It also took a bit longer than it should have to order my drink once I sat down. 2. The cappelletti was delicious, but very pricey. It was $29 for 8 pieces of pasta. If I hadn't gotten dessert, I don't know that I would have been full when I left. I understand that the cappelletti is labor-intensive, but for $29 I should've gotten double the amount I had.

Google
Nearby Italian restaurant with a nice bar scene. Looking forward to exploring the menu more! Had the Pork Milanese and what a pleasure! Crispy crust, juicy and moist on the inside. The mustard sauce and arugula on top really heighten the experience :)) Highly recommend. Highly recommend the pasta bolognese.

Google
The restaurant is beautiful & the service is amazing all the staff were very attentive, you can tell they all help each other out since it does get busy. We arrived at 4 when the restaurant opens and by 5 it was packed even the bar. The food was great! - the prices and the chicken parm not coming with pasta or a side were the only notable cons.

Yelp
Birthday dinner review for my mom! Usually, I put forth a lot of good research to find an interesting local option. But in this case, I looked outside a bus window while driving by a new posh-looking Italian restaurant that struck my fancy, and after reading through the menu later I knew that Carina Sorella was the perfect spot. And from the great service and sleek comfortable interior to the tasty food they absolutely delivered! The interior is sleek white marble with a cozy center bar and plenty of open dining spaces. But despite looking sleek and posh, this "Darling Sister" is all about serving homemade pasta and pizzas, classic Italian dishes, and a full bar program with a rotating selection of cocktails and beer. For cocktails the Sorella Negroni was refreshing with it's cynar, vermouth, and house coffee bitters; and the coffee and chocolate tobacco bitters added an extra kick to a good extra kick to the Carina Old Fashioned. For appetizers the prosciutto and burrata combo was pretty hard to resist, and it was the perfect mix of creamy cheese and salty ham. With pizzas like the spicy soppressata with provolone and hot honey, the pear pizza with speck ham, taleggio cheese, and burnt honey; and house-made pasta like cappelletti and mafaldine bolognese I have plenty of reason to come back for more. But I'm a sucker for a good scallop dish and theirs was buttery goodness with fregola, Tuscan kale, and confit tomatoes. Whether its for a good family occasion, or a slightly above casual date where you need to impress, Carina Sorella is a perfect addition to the Main Line!

Yelp
Nice interior with a large bay window, great for a summer evening. But service was lacking. The bartender didn't know what bourbon on the rocks was. The Caesar had no flavor. The Cacio e Pepe was dry, I think the chef forgot to add the pasta water and the bucatini soaked it all up. Also, Chef, if you add salt to the water the pasta won't soak up all the sauce. Our server or anyone never checked on us after the entries were dropped or I would've asked for a spoon to twirl the pasta. For these prices, staff should be better trained. They should know the difference between bourbon and scotch, neat and a splash of water, and how to follow up with your table after the food is served. This place might fool the suburbs, but anyone familiar with the city won't be back.

Yelp
Had such an amazing meal here so I'm surprised to jump on here and see so many sour reviews! Started our meal with what was essentially a peach flavored mule that was so refreshing. My friend and I split foccacia and the caesar salad which were both delicious. The bread was warm and fresh, perfectly salty. I loved how cheesy the caesar was! The cacio e pepe was so creamy and perfectly peppered. Our server even provided a complimentary tiramisu for my birthday. Our service was great as well, our server attentive. Not giving 5 stars because I felt the prices were a bit steep and the fact the music was SO loud in there, which reading through reviews seems to be a common complaint.

Yelp
We had an early lunch at Carina Sorella on a summer weekend day, and it was really quiet (though it started to pick up as we were leaving). I wasn't sure how big the portions would be so I ordered the meatballs and the chopped salad. The chopped salad was more than enough - the portion was huge, and it was really tasty (along with the meatballs).

Yelp
Have been so excited to try Carina Sorella! Overall it was a good experience, but I was let down by the taste/quality of the food. The interior is beautiful and it has really nice natural light in there and a lovely bar set up. We started off with wine and a Hugo spritz - loved the spritz! Then for food we did the focaccia - thought it could be better with a bit more rosemary or something. And then the ceaser and octopus. Octopus was better of the two for sure. ceaser lacked flavor - octopus was perfect texture. Last, we got the bolognese, short rib and the pear pizza. Pear pizza was great - no notes. Short rib itself was good - there was a generous helping of polenta under it, but it just did not taste good. As for the Bolognese - the presentation was great but it was very over salted. Service was good - very friendly.

Yelp
Went here for a late dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Quick, attentive service. Starting with the arancini, crispy shell and wonderfully savory creamy inside. Perfectly paired with the sweet and acidity of the tomatoes. The rigatoni had a great kick to it, I would say it was less creamy than most vodka, but that was refreshing. The sausage in the dish was also good but be aware this dish is definitely on the saltier side. My partner ordered the spicy crab, which was delicious as well. We split the margherita pizza. Excellent crust! Good spot for a date, a family din, or drinks with the girls!

Yelp
This is a cute spot for dinner. The food was pretty good, but nothing was stand out fantastic. I will probably go again to try other options and see if anything brings my rating up.

Yelp
Where to begin.. my first visit to this establishment was to just try out the happy hour. I would call their happy hour an unhappy hour. The bartenders are unexperienced and don't even know how to make a simple cocktail.. menu is confusing two dishes need to be sent back one because it had bones in it. Second dish was sent back because it wasn't cooked. From beginning to end this restaurant was poorly managed kitchen unorganized. No one seems to know what they're doing at this restaurant. I would recommend another establishment. It's a shame. They are owned by another restaurant down The shore and that one is quite good. This is not on the same level as that look elsewhere.

Yelp
Went there last night with much excitement because the sister restaurant, Trattoria Carina in center city is so good. The setting was very good and fits in well on the main line. The service was great, our waiter was very attentive and did a good job. Unfortunately the food was... not good. The gemelli (fav plate at Trattoria) was just olive oil with cut up basil. The pasta itself was tough. Next time we will just go to Il Fiore across the street which is worth the price tag.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Trattoria Carina's little sister! It was so good! We started out with the Caesar salad, burrata garlic knot and the cacio e Pepe pizza. The pizza absolutely stole the show. The Caesar salad had a bit too much dressing and the burrata to bread ratio was not equal. But we still enjoyed both. The chicken parm is a must try and we got the crab pasta which I liked and the rigatoni which was also delish! Service was amazing and the vibes are great. We will be back. Can't wait to try more menu items.

Yelp
I am genuinely obsessed with this restaurant. The food is always so good and the service is awesome. My husband and I are here so much they're starting to recognizing us. I tell everyone to come. The place is beautiful and it can get loud when it's busy but that never bothers us.
google avatar

Alexa M.

Yelp
Yummmm dreaming about this meal. The chicken Caesar salad - to die for. Must get the potatoes on the side to eat with! And then we got the bolognese pasta - amazing and so flavorful. Cannot wait to come back and try more.

Yelp
Dined here on a beautiful late spring evening. The windows were open, and the place was bustling with atmosphere. From the cool and clean marble tables to the attendant and polite staff, this was an excellent experience all around for us. There is a size-able drink menu to choose from for customers. I ordered one of the specials, which was lemon spaghetti. It was excellent with a burst of flavors! The whipped ricotta appetizer and the unique twist on tiramisu dessert perfectly bookended a memorable meal!

Yelp
A high-end Italian restaurant with lots of staff and an upscale dining room. On a busy Friday night, we dined at the bar. It was loud but the hostess offered to seat us once there was a cancellation; how nice. Sadly, we couldn't wait. Our young bartender spent a lot of time w/another guest and left us with empty plates. But service was fast and friendly from others. The garlic knot was/burrata was fantastic. Great meatballs. Pass on the Caesar salad and the subpar tuna crudo. I'll be back once the newness factor has worn off.

Paul B.

Yelp
Had a fantastic meal which included octopus appetizer and Chicken Parm. The Panna-Cotta dessert was unworldly. Service was fantastic and an all-round nice experience. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
This review pains me to write because I was so excited about this restaurant opening up. It was for sure one of the worst meals I've had out in a while. I'll start with the good which is the staff. From the moment we entered the restaurant all of the staff were welcoming and our waitress was very nice. Now, on to the food. We started with the Margarita Pizza. Just eh. Nothing special at all. Entrees...before I ordered I asked our server for some recommendations. I was leaning toward the Linguini with crab but wanted to be sure the sauce (gravy) was good and flavorful. I asked several questions about the flavor of the sauce, specifically is it flavorful. O was told yes it is and it's one of the most popular dishes. Good, I was sold. That pasta came out and one glance knew it was not gonna be good. It looked like noodles and watery sauce. One bite and that's exactly what it tasted like. As I was eating it, I was shaking my head no. I didn't even eat half before I had to call it quits. It literally tasted like a pasta water with hint of crab flavor. For $29 there is barely any crab but more like a crab dusting. I got the pasta wrapped up and figured I'd fix it when I got home. My husband ordered the Chicken Parm. It is one large pounded piece of chicken and that's it. He was told by the waitress that it comes with nothing and recommended getting a side of pasta. He did just that so the chicken parm dish went from $29 to close to $50. I mean seriously...$50 for chicken park is absurd! Especially for nothing special chicken parm and pasta. I also had a drink at the bar, the Mulo Pesca. Also not good and seemed flat, like the ginger beer was nonexistent to the drink. Before our server came back I said to my husband if they ask if we want dessert it's an absolute no. I was not going to attempt to try anything else. The server did ask about dessert and noticed we finished our entrees quite quickly and asked if that was because we were full or didn't enjoy it and to be honest. I did just that and let her know my thoughts on what we ordered. They removed the margarita pizza from then bill. The restaurant is nice and beautifully designed but it is so noisy inside that several times I had to ask the bartenders and servers to repeat themselves. Most likely I will not be back and this is a one and done restaurant.
google avatar

Cassie A.

Yelp
Carina Sorella is a fantastic addition to the Main Line food scene! The vibe is great and staff is nice. We dined with 4 people and got to try many things on the menu. The highlights were the chicken parm and pear pizza, but honestly everything was fantastic. We will definitely be back soon
google avatar

Beverly M.

Yelp
Nicely designed restaurant and the food was tasty, but other qualities really impinged on my enjoyment of the evening. It seems they can't decide if they are a restaurant or a bar. The music was so loud as well as other noise that it was almost impossible to have a conversation. I paid $18.00 for a glass of wine that had the skimpiest pour I have ever seen. It was a chilly night and every time the door opened, a blast of cold air came in. I had to put my jacket back on while dining. Staff was friendly and competent, but still a disappointing experience.
google avatar

Kaia N.

Yelp
Had a great evening here! Sat at the bar bc we didn't have a reservation, but that made the evening all the better. Bartender was friendly, mixing up all kinds of creative cocktails. Food was good- we kept it simple with protein-layered salads.
google avatar

Samantha K.

Yelp
Super excited to try Carina after seeing it on Instagram. It was packed on a Saturday night, but we were seated shortly after our reservation time-the staff and service were working SO hard, they deserve 5 stars! Unfortunately the food was just okay-Caesar salad was the best of the out of the chicken parm and rigatoni entrees. Also, miller lite was listed on the menu as $5 but we were charged $7-not a huge deal, just worth noting. Our server was awesome though! Wouldn't go back, but good for a fun night of people watching w okay food.
google avatar

Kiki V.

Yelp
Unfortunately a very mixed experience here, and the food quality in general does not match the price point. Focaccia was served toasted on the outside, but cold in the middle, with a weirdly dense and cakey texture. Arrancini was lukewarm and had a very strong fishy taste, even though our server confirmed it was *not* supposed to have seafood. Cacio e pepe was bland, and needed much more pepper flavor. Pork Milanese was the best dish and had the best flavor profile, but it had a thin crust that could have benefitted from a more crunchy texture, and some of the nuts in the arugula salad were rancid. Chopped salad was excellent--a wonderful mix of greens and tasty toppings. The branding of the restaurant is a little strange: one the one hand, the prices imply fine dining, and the servers provided wonderful, attentive service while multiple managers supervised. But on the other hand, the ambience (with the blasting club music, loud bar, and servers wearing aprons/jeans/tennis shoes) implied a more casual atmosphere. The incongruity wasn't appealing to me personally. If you like loud, chaotic spaces, this is a great place. However, I think other reviewers are correct in that the restaurant is in serious need of major sound design; it was so loud I could hardly hear my server. In general the ambience was hectic, with other guests squeezed in around you.

Joseph C.

Yelp
Food was delicious and copious. Service: rushed. Ambiance: loud and crowded tables very close to each other. Large TV screens were not necessary with people trying to have conversations while dining.
google avatar

Theresa F.

Yelp
Delicious meal, great pasta and that Caesar salad was a chefs kiss, will be back ! Ambience was nice too, everyone was spread out and not on top of each other.
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
Went here for brunch to see how it was- we recently moved from fishtown to the area and have been trying to find decent restaurants! We were really impressed with the food and the service. Our waitress was super friendly and kind. We got the prosciutto sandwich which came with a side salad AND a side of potatoes, and then also the ricotta pancakes. Everything was delicious and plenty for leftovers! The side salad was just arugula cheese and I think olive oil so my only suggestion would be to make a more flavorful vinaigrette. It was pretty empty inside but felt bright and stylish. Laid back. We will be returning!

Yelp
Last weekend we decided to try the newly opened Carina Sorella in Bryn Mawr. It is bright and vibrant with lots of natural light. The staff were warm & welcoming and the food was full of flavor. Some of the starter dishes were small but the pasta & main courses made up for them with their size. The restaurant also offers quite a beverage menu full of unique spritz & negroni options which are worth the try. Overall this was a delightful evening and Carina Sorella is & will be a great new addition to the mainline.

Erin R.

Yelp
This is our new favorite go-to restaurant! My husband absolutely loves the rigatoni pasta with sausage and gets it every time. I like the Caesar salad and we both enjoy the octopus. Most of the pastas are delicious, although the cacio de Pepe could use more flavor. Great service and decor. Reliably delicious food and a fun atmosphere.
google avatar

Andrew F.

Yelp
Very good pasta! We got the cacio e pepe, gemelli, and mafaldine pastas as well as the Caesar salad. All three pastas were delicious although the mafaldine could have used a bit more salt. Yes I know I'm one of the many customers that says more salt! Lol but it tasted a bit bland compared to the others. The salad was yummy and chilled which I like and we also got the focaccia with honey butter that was out of this world. The staff were friendly and the space was open and well designed. So much better than the space in Philly where you're shoved in there like a sardine. Only downside is this place is very expensive. Some of the prices seems too high on some of their menu items.

Yelp
Carina Sorella is such a cute little restaurant. My friend and I dined here last tonight and had a nice time overall. There were a few hiccups in the service. I ordered chicken parm that took forever and a day to come out.. Management was so kind and unsuspectingly gave us a complimentary Pork Milanese for the wait, but I don't eat pork and it's garnished with hazelnut and my friend has a nut allergy. Chase? The manager came over to apologize for the wait and told us what was going on in the kitchen. I really appreciated that! The food overall was really good, we had a nice time and in the end, they comped our 1st round of drinks and chicken parm without request to make up for the long wait. I'd like to mention that The whole staff was very attentive and was apologetic about the mistakes/wait. Every encounter we had with the servers and management was good. They are ALL very pleasant. Thank you to the Carina Sorella team. I appreciated your hospitality. I understand that every establishment has a crazy night sometimes. I'll be back for more chicken parm!

Yelp
Wow. What a disappointment. I so wanted to love this place. We can for our 24th anniversary. We sat at the bar. We ordered some drinks and two appetizers. We also ordered two pasta dishes which took over an hour to be served. It was crazy. Not sure what the hold up was as no one told us. The bartenders were so sweet. They apologized again and again. They asked the manager to comp our pasta which he did. I was rather annoyed as the manager - who saw us sitting there for over an hour never acknowledged or apologized to us. It was rather amusing how he spoke to the couples on either side of us but not us. Maybe they're working out the kinks??? Just not sure. The manager's lack of apology/acknowledgement was very disappointing You can do better guys.

Yelp
Ordered a vodka up rocks on the side and a twist , came 2/3 full ... and I finished it in like 3 sips Food is ok , drinks so so not worth it There are better places with much much better drinks and food My recommendation, STAY AWAY

Yelp
Average tasting Italian food that's made quickly. Staff is friendly and quick with service. Nice ambiance, prices on par for the area

Yelp
The food and service were amazing. We love their sister restaurant in the city. But this one had some perks: easier parking, more space, and a wonderfully stocked bar with some delicious drinks. Came without reservations (eekkk-we know!) but had full service at the bar.

Yelp
Worse Italian food I have ever had in my life. Consider this Olive Garden please. Ordered a simple dish, chicken parm with no basil and garnish. Well, basil and garnish was all over it. Refused to correct it for me since they were busy and charged me for it when I could not eat it. Worse experience ever. Uncomfortable bar stools. Very loud. Young inexperienced staff. Avoid at all costs and you will thank me. Don't believe the fake positive reviews. They are bought or from friends. Never again. A big FY to management for ruining my day!

Rudy S.

Yelp
That was the best Neapolitan pie I've ever had. Wow. Great service great experience. 10/10.

Tim C.

Yelp
Great food , drinks and staff ! Always have a wonderful meal ...overall favorite restaurant in the neighborhood

Harvey J.

Yelp
What a disappointment. Four of us had a couple of drinks, shared two appetizers, and pastas and with the tip the total was $400! The food was lukewarm & bland. It was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think, much less hear your neighbor. We felt rushed by the service as it seems clear they must instruct them to check with the table every five minutes. One and done .

Ed P.

Yelp
Good was very good but expensive. 2 suggestions to improve the customer experience and your rating: 1) huge red sine glass filled with about two ounces. Increase the volume served and use a smaller glass. 2). When you serve chicken or veal parm, a small amount of pasta should always be included. You are charging $34 for chicken parm (too hign) and then another $13 for a few pieces of pasta (your charge for a 1/2 order). $47 for chicken parm is highway robbery!

Olivia G.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place but I was underwhelmed. The ambiance and service were great, but the food - not so much. I'd recommend the arancini for an app, and the vodka rigatoni was fairly good. The chicken parm on the other hand didn't have much flavor, which was the biggest disappointment for me. The cacio e Pepe pizza cheese layer on top completely separated from the crust when you picked it up, and I also didn't get much flavor with this one.

Jeanine Z.

Yelp
My husband and I took our parents to dinner there last night. We were greeted by friendly front desk associates. They seated us immediately. It was our first visit and we loved the decor and the whole ambiance. Our waiter was the absolute BEST!!!! He was very attentive and offered some suggestions since it was our first time. He even spoke to the bartender to find me a sweet wine I would enjoy. We started with the Caesar salad for the table. It was a perfect amount for four and was delicious. I ordered the bucatini and it was perfect. My husband got the chicken parm and he was extremely happy with it. My father in law ordered the spicy crab. It was also delicious. I was able to sample it and definitely 5 stars. Overall we had a wonderful evening and want to thank our waiter Joseph for making it such a wonderful experience. As well as the whole staff!!! Great job!! We will return.

Qwaneisha G.

Yelp
Worst food ever!! The staff are horrible!! Only staff that was really nice was a chef named James other than that the place needs improvement!! It also smells in there...

Yelp
Everything I got was so good. The Caesar salad and bread with honey butter were delish as well as the pesto pasta.

Nancy H.

Yelp
The Caesar salad was one of the best I have had. Broccoli rabe was delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. The drinks were great. It is nice that this restaurant is open late.

Yelp
I paid $20 for a side of overcooked rigatoni that was floating in butter. I had asked for a little butter and a little olive oil. I also had undercooked broccoli rabe. It was very stringy and chewy. I saw several "burned" pizzas being served. I guess some chefs believe that if the pizza isn't burned, it isn't done. Don't chefs know that burned food is a carcinogen! I guess burning food allows the chef not to have to keep an eye on getting food done just right. The servers couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. The ambiance was pleasant, but overall the noise level is objectionable. The decor is outstanding. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Carina Sorella.

Yelp
Wow, I'm still thinking about the Rigatoni with spicy sausage. The focaccia with honey butter was to dye for! We ordered it to dip in pasta sauce, but it came out first and was gone before our apps came, it was so good. We finished the meal with gelato (both sorbet and ice cream style) I enjoyed the lemon, but the caramel was the group's favorite (I didn't want dessert until my decaf cappuccino came and it was gone by then, so I couldn't verify). The service was beyond what would be expected. The manager came and introduced himself to us. We were talking and I thought it would be helpful to let him know in this world they should carry Non-Alcoholic beer. They had one considered NA, but it still had traces of alcohol. Long story short, he went out and bought me a 0.0 NA beer at a distributor and brought one to my table. Unprecedented service! Many people work there, so the service during the whole meal was prompt. The Ambiance is great. My husband and I dated in the early 90s in Toronto and it reminds us of our favorite restaurant there/then. Very bistro decor surrounding a bar (at least where we are); bit of a buzz (not great if you are hard of hearing) great energy if you like that; must have some sliding window that covers the top half of the wall facing the street. That was completely open allowing a fresh air feeling. Our husbands finished their pasta portions. The wives didn't, can't wait to get into my leftovers!

Yelp
Loudest restaurant I've ever been to & not worth the 3 week reservation wait. The servers can barely serve dishes as the tables are so close together. The server also forgot to put in my husband's entree, said she would take it off the bill and didn't. The rigatoni is delicious but the arancini & meatballs are ok & the scallops & swordfish had no taste.

Yelp
Carina Sorella is a perfect restaurant. From the moment you walk in, the staff was welcoming and attentive. The space is well designed, perfectly lit and sets a high end restaurant environment into a casual fun dining room. The menu had top notch dishes from start to finish. Some must haves were the Burrata Garlic Knots, Shisito peppers, or any of the pizzas which were all fantastic. Their pasta selections were amazing. It's clear that the ownership and staff are all in on this location and the neighborhood is lucky to have them. I've been a few times already and I highly recommend giving it a try for anything from a fancy date night to a casual dinner and everything in between.

Yelp
I was really excited that this restaurant opened in Bryn Mawr. The decor was beautifully done and wait staff very nice. However, the food was some of the worst I have had in a long time. The Burrata and Prosciutto were bland and tasteless. The wax paper was still on the Prosciutto and I had to pick it off before eating. The presentation was just a ball of Burrata and Prosciutto on the dish. No garnish , oil or seasoning. I wanted to like the meatball , but presentation was unappetizing. Hardly any cheese or sauce. They were so solid and heavy I could barely cut into them. They looked like the inside of a big hotdog...ground into a pink ball. Could not even try to eat them. This is the very first review I have given for a restaurant... good or bad. I felt compelled to do so because this place could be a gem if they get a proper chef . I hope they are able to move forward from the poor reviews.
