Carini Italian Restaurant

Food was decent but now 100% authentic. I ordered the spaghetti a la Giosue and my husband go the fried seafood platter with a side of regular spaghetti and salad. I must say, the homemade ranch was delicious and their portions are very generous!! Overall, we were happy with this place and the service was great.

They set the bar high for other restaurants. We had approx 25 people,and they put us in their banquet room. When I arrived I was greeted warmly. The waitress, well she had her act together. Everyone got served around the same time, other orders were also coming timely. We will definitely come again when we are in Richmond! Thanks for a great time. Everyone was happy!

Reviews don’t lie! Food was delicious! Started with a ceaser salad. Homemade dressing and croutons. Very fresh and delicious. Homemade bread comes with meal and very good. Got chicken parm entree. 2 large chicken breasts perfectly cooked. Left here full and happy. Everything tastes homemade and looking at other dishes all looked phenomenal. $30 for whole meal so thought was fairly priced. Bartender was very friendly as well. I believe her name was Chelsey

We stopped in for pizza here today, the service first of all was excellent everyone is so on top of it. However we ordered the Mediterranean pizza, the toppings were fresh , however the dough was terrible and very hard . No flavor to it

I love the place, and the food is good, but they are a little slow, that’s my only complaint. Sadly, I had to wait a long time for my food due to mess up and had to wait a good long while for the appetizer— but, I’m not going to complain too much, because there is a possibility they have more people than I think, you know? The food is nice, and affordable, would I recommend? Yes. EDIT: they gave me a large pizza rather than large due to mix up, and I’m extremely thankful for it. They ended up getting a big party randomly and it was seemingly overwhelming, so I don’t blame them at all. Great time, though!

We came here to celebrate a few family Birthdays at the same time in the banquet room. We were taken care of and food came out very quick for the amount of people we had. Service was great and the arcade was a nice little touch. A few of the games were out of order but I know that’s how it goes with older arcade games. They had a great bar selection if you want to come and have a few drinks. We had a great experience and the food was great. We will be back soon.

I've only got the pizza for pickup here several times and I love it. The crust is good. Toppings great. Good pricing too for how good it tastes. The inside of the restaurant is cute and I would love up actually sit down and try them out one day soon.

Decent Italian restaurant! I loved the ambiance inside, felt like an old school Italian restaurant with lots of decor. They also have a banquet room in the back were I sat since I was with a large party for birthday gathering. Our server was very nice and attentive and our food was good! I think my favorite was the mozzarella triangles, so cheesy and yummy!

We've seen this place recommended a bit recently and decided to check them out for a date night. They have a beautiful arch entrance with grapevines so it is beautiful right off the bat. There was no wait and we got to sit in a pretty comfortable booth. The walls had gorgeous paintings of Italy all around. The prices were pretty affordable given what you get. The medium stromboli that said it served 1-2 was huge! Everything was absolutely delicious! Our service was very nice and attentive. We will definitely be back!

A roach ran across the table while we were sitting waiting for our food. Dirty silverware with food still attached. The manager obviously couldn't care less. If this is what you see when you are out front, I can only imagine the kitchen. No thanks!!!!!

Don't let the tired shopping center facade fool you. The inside is very nice, the food is excellent and the portions are big enough for taking leftovers home.

Started with the clams. They were good. But not as much garlic as usual. And I love lots of garlic. Service is always good here. We have Vicki today. I took off one star for the lack of garlic in the clams. The ambiance is quiet and comfortable right now. For entrees spouse got a pizza and I ordered the fettuccini carbonara, which was really delicious. I forgot to take a picture. And we got a cannoli for dessert. It was delicious.

I love the fact this location is family owned and has been in business since 1978! The staff is very friendly and it looks beautiful inside. There menu is full of great Italian dishes. You can also call your order in , or order to Go online if you don't feel like dinning in. My Alla Parmigiana was good but was missing FLAVOR like some nice Italian herbs would've been good. All in all nice restaurant, nice food, great service, Thumbs up for me

Great local restaurant with great food and good service, love the pizza and clams and linguine. Been a regular customer since they opened. Lots of changes over the years from basic pizza joint to lovely Italian decor, great place to celebrate any special occasion, large banquet room

I visited Carini Italian Restaurant on a Monday night with a group of four other coworkers. We were seated quickly, as the restaurant was very large and didn't seem crowded (although I noticed a number of people getting takeaway). The decor inside is very cute - it is intricately designed to look like you are walking down the streets of Italy. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. Our service was a little slow at times, but our server was kind and apologetic for the wait. I ordered tortellini filled with meat. Our dishes came with a side salad and a bread basket for the table to share. The side salad was pretty big, and the vegetables were all fresh. The homemade dressing was very good. The bread was a little disappointing - it just looked like a sub roll that had been cut and lightly toasted. It was served with butter, and wasn't very flavorful. Our table had mixed reviews on entrees - my coworkers enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana, manicotti, and pizza. Another coworker didn't like the taste of the fettuccini Alfredo. My tortellini was pretty average, and I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Overall, this was a fine place to stop to have dinner, but the food was a little underwhelming and nothing special.

We have been here about 6 times. We ordered take out and the quality of good was very different vs our last visit. New Chef? The 3 of us were all disappointed. We have recommended Carinis to friends and family but really can't after this last meal, which consisted of appetizer, entrees, salads, and desserts. We will probably go back one more time, just in case it was a fluke...

Always good food and ambiance is truly like an authentic Italian restaurant. We split the sampler platter and although the chicken was a little dry, the spaghetti, lasagna, and veal were excellent. And draft beers were always cold and on time. Server did a great job handling our table and many more in the dining area.

Service was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Came with my best friends bachelorette party and had the most amazing waiter; Terri! If you are looking for a party friendly restaurant in Richmond ( and for tourists like us) then I would highly recommend giving Carinis a try while you are in the area! Food was also amazing!

Our nephew graduated basic training today and when looking for a good bite to eat, this place came up close to Fort Greg. The service was great and the food was amazing. We are from Chicago, but moved to the DC area 6 years ago and this has the best pizza I've had outside of Chicago, ever. The crust was crispy, the sauce the perfect amount of tangy and sweet, the toppings so fresh. Most pizza here on the east coast lacks flavor, this pizza was so flavorful. My nephew inhaled his fettuccine Alfredo and said it was amazing! I would 10 out of 10 recommended this place and to me it's worth driving an hour for. We definitely plan on coming back soon.

I have been going to Carini for about 20+ years now. The food has always been fresh and consistent. Recently. I'm not sure if they changed cooks or what has happened but the quality has taken a hit. I always order the seafood linguine and it's usually amazing. Today it looked like seafood noodle soup. The tomato sauce gave more of a broth with grease floating in it and had little flavor. There were also chunks of squid that have never been in this dish before that were overwhelming. The pasta was soggy probably due to so much broth. When I picked up my order they forgot my salad so we had to go back in. Then when we arrived home we noticed one of our other entrees was missing a side and had to drive back to the restaurant.

Over cooked food. Service was great. Ambiance was nice. I am a NYC Italian boy. Good Italian food is important. So I would give food a C +. Over a 3 star.

Excellent food, service and Ambiance. Our party of 6 were able to find a good, distanced from others table and really enjoyed our visit with each other over clearly homemade style Italian food. We were very glad to have stopped there!

The food is great. I suggest you order, pick up and take it home. We were there tonight and couldn't finish our dinner because the rowdy customers drinking at the bar were so loud and obnoxious, I had to go. After a long day at work, I just wanted to have a nice dinner with my husband. Carinis has been a favorite for over 40 years, countless lunches, dinners, parties. But no more. There are plenty of other Italian restaurants in the area. I think they might want to rebrand as an Italian Bar.

I've been going to this restaurant for at least 20 years and they have always been awesome up until recently. I think the owner has semi retired because I haven't seen him lately and I've notice the food is not bad but nowhere near as good as it use to be. The last few time s I've eaten here the food almost taste like it's been warmed over like maybe they make the sauce the day before something is just off. It's really disappointing because I probably will not go as often as I use to because of this. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed I did mention to waitress and she said she would pass it on. Hopefully this is temporary.

This is a local classic place for good Italian food. They have a nice bar and quaint Italian murals on the walls. The food is also great. I have tried many dishes over the years, and they all have been fantastic. I love their pizza calzones and pasta dishes. You will definitely need a to-go box or share because the portions are generous. The staff is always friendly and I think mostly the same family.

Food is too greasy and service isn't very good. But that's how I feel. I stay away from grease and good Italian food doesn't have to be greasy. My grandfather came over from Sicily and I don't remember eating food like Carini's sells. We need to be healthy and Carin's only healthy food is salads!

Food at Carini is always great! Nice people. Ordered and picked up. As expected food was ready and still hot. Love this place!

Excellent food and great customer service. My husband and I have been going here for years. Great family owned restaurant and we love it even more with the updates they've made to the place.

My husband and I went here for the first time yesterday in a while and it was awful. We sat by the front and the whole time the waitresses were chatting about the other staff. The one lady at the front I think her name might be Marie or something like that I can't remember, I went to the bathroom and heard her gossiping about people to customers which is not good. Now the food wasn't that great either, everything we had tasted pre made and not "homemade". I kind of expected more out of this place but I guess the location should tell you what your going to get. Anyways, the pricing is just god awful, I've never been to a lower scale Italian restaurant that their prices were that high. Ugh so disappointing. We won't be back!

I wanted to love this place, my grandparents lived in Carini and we visited in 2017. I was staying at a hotel near the airport and found this restaurant on Yelp. Solid reviews and a great menu. I ordered the chicken Parm and a glass of house Chianti. One sip into the wine, I knew I was drinking water for the rest of the meal. Chicken Parm came out with a red hot plate and overcooked chicken cutlets that had not been pounded flat and were overcooked, dry and hard. I made it half way thru the 2 cutlets and called it quits. The bread was soft and tasty.

I came here to eat Spaghetti and garlic bread. Both were amazing. Big fan of this restaurant.

This time I just ordered Carini Baked Spaghetti to go. Tired & hungry & went home to eat. Sorry no pictures this time, but can tell you 2 of us had 3 meals off off it for 3 days. Not complaining‼ The side salad was enough for two. I realize now... getting older the food go farther. Worth the money & staff is so friendly to everyone. A very nice place to eat in also. We mostly do that

I was here a year ago and I reviewed the service at that time. The food, which I ended-up having to take to-go, was good but the service issues forced a bad (2-star) review. However, I was back in Richmond last night with my coworkers and we went to Cairini's because I really wanted to try and update their review because I had heard such good things about them. They did not disappoint. The service was spot-on, the food was quick, hot and delicious. The Server knew her menu and even had good wine-pairing recommendations. I'm glad I went back. If you're in the Richmond area, especially near the airport, this place is worth stopping in for a wonderful, authentic Italian meal. They've been around for 40 years, they haven't changed a thing, and it's working for them. It's delicious.

We had a WONDERFUL evening with a large group of 20! Great food, great prices, AMAZING SERVICE that started the moment we walked up to the bar. One serve handled our whole order extremely well offering suggestions, keeping drinks filled, and being extremely attentive to our entire group. They provided us with a specific menu for a large group upon our reservation that more than satisfied everyone - including the ten teenagers! The atmosphere was perfect where we were comfortable enough o truly enjoy each other and the meal!

Ordered a small cheese pizza with olives and mushrooms and extra sauce . The pizza crust is too thick and too much at the end where actual sauce and cheese should have been. They are really skimpy on the cheese. Maybe I caught them On a bad day but I don't think I will be going back- maybe pizza isn't their specialty.

Great food! Large portions - honest and friendly service. When I travel to Richmond for work, I always stop here for dinner.

If you are staying near the airport and want a great meal with no supposes, Carini delivers. Exactly what I expected. I had a large take out order for 16 people. I ordered for a specific time. When I went to pick it up everything was there and ready to go. Pizza's were hot. Pastas were well dressed and the salad were simple and good size. The back house was staffed well and everyone was friendly. I would do it again.

I had occasion to get carryout from Carini last week. I've probably eaten food there or from there perhaps 10 times. I ordered the Spaghetti a la Giosue, which I had never tried before. It was very good, but probably a bit too meat-heavy for my taste. It fed me for 3 meals. I also ordered the Original White Pizza, 14in. The last time I bought one of those, I ate 5 slices at the first sitting. I was a bit more constrained this time, and the pizza lasted (and kept well) for 3 days at home. Love that white pizza!

We went tonight for a work dinner, five out of the nine found were from out of town. This was a close restaurant near the airport. Definitely go. The service was good for our sized party. The whole table was given water and extra napkins. Salads didn't come with all of the meals but that was ok for us. Some ordered pasta and others had pizza. I personally had the fettuccini carini primavera, but I substituted the fettuccini with penne. It was amazing. Huge bowl of pasta with fresh veggies. The cream sauce was just enough -- not heavy at all. The bread was warm and soft to clean sauce off the bowl!!! We did order a couple of bottles of wine and skipped on apps and deserts. I think that was a good move. Not sure of the tab since it was a group paid for meal, service was good and timely. Nice to know it is here for future.

We tried to order takeout here, when we arrived and gave our name there was a long line. They had lost our order. The woman ran around frantically and kept getting interrupted when helping us causing it to take over 20 minutes and she still couldn't find our order. It was a horribly inefficient process, would not order from this app again as they can not find orders through it.

Everything is always good. My favorite items are eggplant parm and spinach calzones, mozzerella fritti here. Wish we still lived closer!

This is our go-to pizza place. It's consistently great. We've also tried a variety of other dishes including the spinach manicotti, lasagna, subs, salads, and appetizers. Everything has been great except for maybe 2 things, but they were both takeout and maybe didn't travel well. We have seen the same servers for years, and is a family owned business. Happy to be regulars.

This local favorite has hands down the best Italian food you can get without being in Italy!! Very comfortable atmosphere with a friendly staff. Owners are so sweet and accommodating. They also have a pretty big banquet room, which is awesome! 10/10 recommended you coming here for a delicious meal, good drinks, house made deserts, and a good time. :)

I recently hosted a large family dinner in honor of my son's graduation from VCU. We were given our own section of a large, quiet room and couldn't have been more pleased at the quality of the food and amazing family style service we received.

Tried this place on a tip from a random person, man it is good. Had to take home most of my meal as I was stuffed from the appetizer alone. 2 hard drinks 1 soft drink 2 apps and 2 big pasta dishes later, we paid $70 plus tip. Not bad for what all we got

I have eaten at Carini and gotten take-out from them on several occasions and their food is always delicious. On my most recent visit with family, we dined in. We don't normally order appetizers, but in the past we have tried the Mozzarella fritta and the calamari. Both are solid, but nothing spectacular. This time, my dad ordered the Spaghetti alla Giosuè, which is good and filled with a good amount of meat, though the sauce is not the best. My mom and I both ordered our favorite dish, the chicken piccata. She and I normally try chicken piccata whenever we go to an Italian restaurant, and we both think that Carini has the best piccata sauce south of the Mason-Dixon line. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisù. I have tried tiramisù all throughout Italy and Carini's still is my favorite. The pizza and other pastas are good, but if you want good chicken piccata or tiramisù, definitely go to Carini!

Alright atmosphere. Many food options. The service was fast and the drinks were well priced. Food was well priced for the portion size as well. Would suggest for a family or group or friends.

Good if you want pizza. Went there with high expectations (for some reason). I just wanted some Italian food. Chicken marsala and penne alla vodka was tasty, but average. Its basically a pizza joint. A subs and pizza atmosphere. Also, our waitress wasn't attentive at all. She didn't even ask how the food tasted. Overall a good quick bite, but average Italian meals.

Oh my where do I start.... mozzarella fritta was delicious and gooey and ohhhh god how can you explain pure perfection? (Seconds) LoL I order the baked ziti that was covered in delicious cheese. Tasty sauce and you get bread with it to. I was alone on my venture here. My secret place to go when I want some real good Italian. The waitress are sweet and helpful. Prices are not bad either and they gave my coupons for next year weeeeeee. I'll use them trust in that. I've just eaten so much I just really do t wanna move. I just wanna sip my drink and curl up in my booth. But I know I can't. So I will bag up my leftovers and take them with me. I'm not letting them go to waste, you got to be kidding me. This gem is well hidden but it was full of other people. Word of mouth must get around. I was here by myself when I first got here now over half the restaurant is full. Goes to show you how good it is. I will have to try their pizza sometime soon. I just wasn't feeling pizza today. Go figure. But if your reading this go.... go to the restaurant and enjoy a good hearty meal. Bring some friends and your family with you to. They will be great full..

Business Trip to Richmond and was hoping for an easy meal. Service was Very Slow and the sever only had 2 other tables. Once she did Come by my table, I ordered a glass of Chianti and it was brought quickly. I thought the Italian Sampler would be a good way to try their food...Mistake. This is why you need to READ the Yelp Reviews! I should have gone with a Pizza or Lasagna. The beef and chicken Parmesan tasted the same, both were chewy and flavorless. The lasagna piece was small but tasty. Stick with easy dishes and you will be fine.

This place was terrific great food and service. Ordered a lot of food before our flight.

This is one of the only non-chain restaurants in the area. You can tell the family runs the restaurant with care and love. The food is basic and simple. There's a lot of stretchy cheese on most everything. It's what I would call Virginia-Italian food.

Really fabulous locally owned restaurant. Recommended by the hotel where I stayed. I would highly recommend
